We named it the RATHERSHACK because you'd rather be here than anyplace else in the world. We are 'second row' from the beach - which means a 45 second walk for you slow pokes, or 30 seconds for the average beach bum. This lowcountry jewel is one of the original Folly Beach cottages. There are three bedrooms(1 queen, 1 full, 2 bunks). 1 bath(updated in '12, and again in '21). Nice open floor plan. Heart of pine wood floors through out. Screened in front porch. Nice back yard, with a big backyard deck. Installed an outdoor shower, off the deck recently(11/21). Kitchen fully set up to cook if you like. There is a back door off the kitchen, that takes you onto to the large deck. There are built in benches, as well as a patio table and 4 chairs. We do have grill in the back yard as well. It's fun to sit out there, and listen to the sound of the ocean. Classic screened in front porch, with a couple of chairs, lamp for reading. Also have string lights on the inside of the front porch, around edge of ceiling.

The location of this home is why we purchased it. Although it sits in a nice, quiet part of the island. It's very close to everything you want access to. The beach is only a 3 short block, walk. Two blocks to Center St. where all the restaurants, and shopping are located on Folly. Folly Beach Park, for the kids, is within walking distance too. Tennis courts/Basketball court there as well. Bert's grocery market is within walking distance too!! Our home is on a full lot, with a nice back yard.
This home has the charm of the Lowcountry. Very comfortable and cozy. Home surrounded by palms, old growth hardwoods, and a trophy live oak, that is easily over 100 yrs. old.
This part of the island is also great for biking, or renting a golf cart while you are here. Enough room to park a boat trailer in the back yard. Up to 20' or so. Folly River Boat Landing is very close.

The Historic District of Charleston is only 20 minutes away by car.

The Chill Shack is located right in the middle of all the Rathershack action. Like the other Shacks, you are just a short walk to the beach but you can also sit outside your Shack and lounge in the sun in your private fenced courtyard.

While the Chill Shack is cozy, you will lack for nothing. The open kitchen and living room allows you to interact with your guests while you make dinner in our fully equipped kitchen. Chances are good though that you may prefer fixing your dinner on the gas grill that’s right outside your front door and dining al fresco under the Folly Beach stars.

Receiving a visit from Folly Beach Officials concerning any of these ordinances will result in the termination of occupancy

1. Guest responsible for renting the property must be at least 25 years old and must be staying at the property for the duration of the rental period.

2 Cancellation Policies:
A. Cancelation Policy: Reservations that are cancelled at least 60 days prior to arrival will receive a full refund of the deposit. Guests
who cancel within 60 days of check-in will not receive any refund.
B. Hurricane Cancellation Policy: Cancellation due to impending storms, inclement weather or other acts of God are not eligible for
refunds. Only if a mandatory evacuation order is given by the Governor of South Carolina, will any refund be given, and the refund will
be only for the unused days of the reservation.
C. We strongly suggest that you purchase "Cancel For Any Reason" travel insurance. Hurricanes and other natural disasters are
common to our area, and we will be unable to offer refunds for any reason other than the mandatory evacuation order mentioned
above.

3. If booking through VRBO, a deposit of 50% of the total rental cost is due at booking. Final payment will be charged automatically 21 days prior to arrival. If booking through Airbnb, you will be charged the full amount at the time of booking.

4. Guests understand that no refunds or adjustments will be made due to any equipment or appliance malfunction. Hock Homes will make every effort to have the repairs made as quickly as possible. The Guest must allow the Owner or their representative access to the property at any reasonable time during your stay, except in an emergency or if a problem needs sorting out quickly and you cannot be contacted in time. In these situations, the owner can enter the property at any time without giving you prior notice.

5. Guests understand that the homeowners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illnesses that occur while on the premises or its facilities. All guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premise.

6. Check-in is a 4:00. Check-out is at 10:00.

7. Guests must adhere to the parking policy: There are two off-street parking spots for the unit. Any additional cars, golf-carts, bikes, etc. must be parked on the street. (City of Folly Beach Ordinance)

8. Guests should not move furniture. Moving furniture without returning it will result in a $50 charge.

9. Guests may not have pets in the house.

10. Guests may not have parties. Parties of any kind will result in immediate termination of the rental agreement with no refund issued. Parties include dinner parties, family reunions, or any other gathering that includes more than the maximum number of occupants that the house sleeps. Loud music, screaming, yelling, dancing, or any other noise violations are also prohibited. There are three units on the property, and we expect our guests to be respectful of the guests staying in the other units. (City of Folly Beach Ordinance)

11. Guests must adhere to the maximum occupancy of the property, A=6, B=8, C=4. (City of Folly Beach Ordinance)

12. Guests must follow Folly Beach guidelines for trash and recycling pick-up. (City of Folly Beach Ordinance)
A. Garbage pick up is Mondays and Thursdays mornings.
B. Recycling is every Monday from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and every other Monday during the off season.
C. All garbage and recycling containers must be placed on the street the evening prior to pick-up and removed from the street by 6:00
p.m. on trash day.

13. Guests may not smoke anywhere on the property including the porches.

14. Guests must leave the house clean upon checkout. Your cleaning fee covers the deep clean of the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, and living spaces (dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning, sanitizing, etc). It also covers the washing and drying of the bed and bath linen. Guests are responsible for the following:
A. Remove all items from the refrigerator and freezer; wipe up any spills.
B. Take out trash and recycling to the large green and blue cans in back.
C. Roll cans to the curb ONLY if checking out on the day before trash or recycling day.
D. Remove any clutter and/or trash from the porches and/or yard. You may leave beach accessories if they are in working order. Damaged chairs, floats, and toys should be removed. Leaving damaged items will result in a $50 charge.
E. Run the dishwasher.
F. Put all used towels in front of the washing machine.
G. Do not remove bed linen. The housekeepers will strip the beds.
H. Make sure that the thermostat is set to 78 in summer and 65 in winter.

15. Guests understand that the credit card on file will be charged for any damage done to the unit or any of the contents of the unit. Additional charges may apply for the following reasons:.
A. Failure to follow the check-out day cleaning instructions.
B. Failure to check-out by the specified check-out time (10:00 a.m.)
C. Failure to follow the trash/recycling instructions.
D. Having an unapproved pet on the premises.
E. Disturbing other guests by not following the policies listed in # 10.

By agreeing to these Terms & Conditions, as acknowledged by payment for the booking, the Guest waives, discharges and agrees to hold harmless the Owner from all damages or injuries arising from or related to the Guest stay at Property, including without limitation, any accidents or injury to the Guest, Guest’s visitors and associates, and loss of money, jewelry or valuables of any kind. The Guest is responsible for keeping his valuables safe at all times.

Not your average beach house! Built in 1940 this charming 900 square foot beach cottage was restored by an architect and beautifully updated by the owner who is an interior designer. (aleciastevens.com) There is not a piece of sheetrock in the home - instead, a wonderful mix of wood paneling. The freshly-painted, all white interior is the perfect backdrop for the mix of vintage rugs and furnishings with comfortable seating and great mix of lighting, textiles, original art and accessories. New European white oak floors have a natural finish. There are dining tables both inside and on a screened porch where you may want to eat. You can take morning coffee and afternoon drinks in the lounge chairs on the screened porch or enjoy the deck if you love the sun. The stars at night are magical as the island stays dark for the sea turtles. We have 2 parking spots with outdoor motion-sensor lighting for coming and going safely. The beautiful natural landscaping outside the cottage is designed by local landscape architect and just updated with irrigation in the Spring of 2020. All of our efforts have been to keep it feeling like the vintage beach property it is while adding all the modern touches to make it comfortable. Amenities include a Wolf range, a Viking refrigerator, top of the line Asko dishwasher, and Asko washer and dryer. We provide beautiful linens, cotton sheets and feather pillows. We have foam pillows on request. But cannot adequately clear the house of all down for those allergic to it.

It is perfect for couples and an ideal retreat spot for artists and writers. (George Gershwin wrote the music for Porgy and Bess on Folly Beach.) The Atlantic Ocean is just two short blocks. We have named this cottage "Otium" in honor of Cosimo di Medici's first villa in Firenze, a place we love - (and with some irony to compare the two, of course!) Otium is a Latin word meaning "leisure - with dignity." It implies time for reading, writing, art, reflection, conversation and music. Of course, we have no pretense that this is the Villa Medici, but the mood translates!

Folly is Charleston's most popular beach for surfing so it can be fun to see them make their magic while going for a walk or reading on the beach. Sea turtles, dolphins, pelicans and the great white heron were all a part of my walk this morning. It's quite magical and peaceful. To note: we are 7 long blocks from the center of town. For us, this is of great value as the beaches tend to be the most crowded near the pier at Center Street. Once past about 5th Street, we notice the beach is much less busy.

Downtown Charleston, with its' abundance of restaurants and historic treasures, is a 20-minute drive. We provide a dossier with recommendations for food, drink, natural and historic sites and shopping.

This is a non-smoking unit for adults over 30. The furnishings are of a quality level well above a standard beach cottage and we need it treated accordingly. It is our home, not just a rental unit. We aren't a home for parties, but drinks and dinners for a few friends are fine. The dining table indoors seats 4 while the porch table seats 6-8. We require a damage deposit, insurance and weekly housekeeping should you stay longer than a week to keep our amazing housekeeper gainfully employed and our home at its best. Our guests tell us how much they appreciate her.

The Happy Shack

It’s a bittersweet offering that you are able to stay in one of our newest shacks. You see the Happy Shack was the unit WE lived in for 3 summers. We chose it because as you’ll see it is the best on our property-with 2 good sized bedrooms, each with their own full bath. We lived and loved every inch of it. From the front yard which has full afternoon sun, and is protected from the wind for those marginal beach days, to the high fence and overgrown vines you can pull up a chair and catch the shade on those 98 degree humid July afternoons. It has the biggest grill on property for you to fire up the burgers and steaks to perfection. In addition, you have an outdoor shower tucked away to wash off the salt and sand after a day at the beach. But it’s the INSIDE that we added all the little touches that will make you fall in love with her. With big windows facing south and west you can be flooded with sunshine (or draw the shades as you wake up on the couch with a well -earned hangover). For a touch of nostalgia you have our ORIGINAL Rathershacks sign in the vaulted ceiling living room. Also, you have one of our very cool dual headed fans to keep you comfortable and enhance the central air (let us know when you figure out which button makes it spin). The kitchen island was made from reclaimed wood from an 1860’s tobacco barn and is vintage South Carolina. We were going to take it with us to our new house across the street but it’s too darn heavy, so you win. All the appliances were upgraded to stainless steel so there is an air of Five Star luxury to your kitchen experience. You can’t miss our custom designed sunglasses + car key holder and sunscreen supply shelf—both are needed nooks for a vacation at the beach. It is our master bedroom we will miss the most…It gets morning sun, and you can watch the squirrels play on the lattice fence outside on most mornings. Our headboard is an old fireplace mantle found upstate in a 1905 Victorian house that we meticulously restored. It is the romantic centerpiece of our home, and this old mantle keeps her secrets. We painted it 49 shades of VERY LIGHT gray-nothing crazy-- so we hope you enjoy yourselves thoroughly! The second bedroom is adorned with a nautical theme and you will feel your inner ocean when you snooze. Both bathrooms have all new tile and fixtures so you can clean up in luxury as you head out on the town. With you as our guest, we know she will be in good hands.

Pets considered. All pets must be approved by our office before you arrive. Upon approval there is a $150 plus tax per pet nonrefundable pet fee that is due before you arrive. If not already on your reservation, it will be added. Once this is done and the fee paid, you will be all set to bring your pet with you (1 pet max, no more than 40 lbs. each, no puppies under 1 year old, no cats). Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are not service animals under Title II and Title III of the ADA and are subject to approval and fees prior to arrival.
No smoking is allowed in or outside of the house.
House parties, weddings, functions, events, bands, and DJs are prohibited.
The occupancy can be at most four people at any time during your stay.
We require 50% payment at the time of booking. The remaining 50% of your balance will be due 30 days before the check-in date, and we will run the card on file. Bookings within 30 days of your arrival date require full payment at the time of booking.

Original heartpine pine floors throughout the home add to the charm. The coffee maker takes ground coffee and has a cleanable filter, and a disposable paper filter can be used if desired. The master bedroom on the top floor has a super comfy King size bed and flat screen TV. There is a Queen bed in the second bedroom also on the top floor, and a full-size Twin bed in the third bedroom on the main floor. A Queen size sleeper sofa and a daybed in the living area provide additional sleeping. Both full size bathrooms have a fun vibe and feature vintage decor. The space
The Sol Shak is your private Folly Beach retreat, just one block to the beach (with an access directly across from the house) and few blocks to the restaurants, bars, Bert's market, and Center Street, just a short walk away. The street is one off the main drag, so it's super quiet, with privacy from the neighbors and traffic. The front screened in porch has plenty of seating, a large dining table and bistro lights for a perfect nighttime vibe.

Our goal was to create a super relaxing space to share with our family and friends. Guests love that we are just one block from the beach (500 ft.), and only four blocks to the bars and restaurants of Center Street.

- How close to the beach? There is a public beach access one house over, requiring that you walk across two 'skinny blocks' to get to a beautiful public beach- about 500 feet.

- Can I get surf lessons? we own Sol Surfers Surf Camp offering private lessons and surf camps all year around.

- Can I rent surfboards? yes we have surfboards for rent

- Can I rent a golf cart? can be rented through our friends at Charleston Golf Cart Rentals.

- Do you have WiFi and cable? YES! We have Xfinity cable package with Flex Box, Netflix and bluetooth speakers on the porch.

- Do you provide towels and linens? Yes! Bath towels and bed linens are included, but please bring your own beach towels, blankets, and tapestries!

We are 'second row' from the beach - which means a 45 second walk for you slow pokes, or 30 seconds for the average beach bum. Lots of charm and beach feel decor at no extra charge as this unit has all new beach-style furnishings, flooring, paint, new roof, and new air conditioning. This unit has an open floor plan for casual gatherings after your day at the beach. This unit has fully stocked kitchen utensils etc with microwave and dishwasher. The 2 BR features a large master with King bed, shabby chic charm. The second bed has a Queen bed with new pillow top thick mattresses, and plenty of changing room. Super clean no allergens pet dander etc as we do not allow pets. This Unit has high definition TV and, WIFI . Off Street parking for 1 vehicles included. . Gas grill on site available for you grill masters out there. Riding bikes is one of our favorite things to do around around here, and look at all the sugar shacks, moderate homes, and homemade fishing piers plopped right next to the occasional McMansion. The space
It’s a bittersweet offering that you are able to stay in one of our newest shacks. You see the Happy Shack was the unit WE lived in for 3 summers. We chose it because as you’ll see it is the best on our property-with 2 good sized bedrooms, each with their own full bath. We lived and loved every inch of it. From the front yard which has full afternoon sun, and is protected from the wind for those marginal beach days, to the high fence and overgrown vines you can pull up a chair and catch the shade on those 98 degree humid July afternoons. It has the biggest grill on property for you to fire up the burgers and steaks to perfection. In addition, you have an outdoor shower tucked away to wash off the salt and sand after a day at the beach. But it’s the INSIDE that we added all the little touches that will make you fall in love with her. With big windows facing south and west you can be flooded with sunshine (or draw the shades as you wake up on the couch with a well -earned hangover). For a touch of nostalgia you have our ORIGINAL Rathershacks sign in the vaulted ceiling living room. Also, you have one of our very cool dual headed fans to keep you comfortable and enhance the central air (let us know when you figure out which button makes it spin). The kitchen island was made from reclaimed wood from an 1860’s tobacco barn and is vintage South Carolina. We were going to take it with us to our new house across the street but it’s too darn heavy, so you win. All the appliances were upgraded to stainless steel so there is an air of Five Star luxury to your kitchen experience. We named it the RATHERSHACKS because you'd rather be here than anyplace else in the world. We are 'second row' from the beach - which means a 45 second walk for you slow pokes, or 30 seconds for the average beach bum. The cottage we are advertising and scheduling here is the 2 BR 1.5 bath, this one is called the BeachShack. Lots of charm and beach feel decor at no extra charge as this unit has all new beach-style furnishings, flooring, paint, new roof, and new air conditioning installed. All cottages have open floor plans for casual gatherings after your day at the beach. This Unit has a fully-stocked kitchen complete with utensils, microwave and dishwasher. The 2 BR features a master with a King bed and the second bedroom has a Queen bed, plenty of changing room. Super clean no allergens, pet dander, etc. NO PETS ALLOWED.
Units have Smart TV (Bring your Apps) and WIFI. Off Street parking for 1 vehicle included. Gas grill on site available for you grill masters out there. Riding bikes is one of our favorite things to do around around here, and look at all the sugar shacks, moderate homes, and homemade fishing piers plopped right next to the occasional McMansion. Architectural variety on every block. Folly Beach makes no judgment on who you are or where you come from. Just bring your flip flops and come as you are!

Anna Bell's Cottage is an iconic 1940s beach house. Recently renovated in 2022. With central HVAC, new interior upgrades to the kitchen and throughout the house. Each room is furnished with pillow-top mattresses for a comfortable night's rest. Open floor plan. Large kitchen with new appliances and a fully equip kitchen for those home-cooked meals.

This house offers that classic beach house vibe. Spend the days relaxing on the beach and the evenings on the screened-in porch listening to South Carolina wild life. Take a quick stroll to Folly's quaint eclectic center street for local food and shopping.

The yard is also big enough for BOAT parking. A lot of brush and bushes for privacy from neighboring houses.

Welcome to the Sea Pear Cottage! This is where we live, available throughout the year when we travel or stay with family.

We are a writer/photographer couple with two small children. The house will be tidy and clean when you arrive, but some of our personal effects and photos will still be visible - it's not set up like a traditional quick-turn vacation rental. In turn, we ask our guests to treat our home like it's their own.

The space
We are one block from the beach - you step out the front door and it's a one-minute walk down a wooded trail out to the beach. It's a skinny part of the island, so in the back there are views across the mash to the Folly River.

We typically have guests staying in the downstairs Airbnb (accessed from the back of the property) - we expect our guests upstairs to be respectful. Upstairs guests have their own porch in the front and back (pictured). The outdoor shower and grill area are shared.

We empty one dresser in the master bedroom and close our closets. There are hooks for hang-up clothes on the back of doors.

Guest access
Guests have access to everything in our home except for our small office (used for storage when traveling) and attic/storage lofts above the living room.

Bring your boat! We have a slip at Mariners Cay marina available as a $350/week add-on during your trip. You're also welcome to reach out about the slip if you see this but stay somewhere else.

We provide 2-4 beach chairs. Do not let them get wet with ocean water, and please rinse hinges off after each use.

BYO beach towels and umbrella.

Other things to note
• We can't allow dogs in our house because of allergy issues.

• Children are welcome - we have two small children - but it's not a place for rough housing or leaving unsupervised pre-teens. We have white floors, walls and furniture that require attentive parents to keep them looking good!

• We use a local service, High Tide Cleaning, that provides their own towels and linens. They do not provide beach towels so BYO beach towels! Also, they are strict on check in/check out times so we are no longer able to offer early check in or late check out.

They provide two rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, one roll of paper towels, and a travel size shampoo and conditioner. Please byo if you need more.

Please note that the cleaning fee is the exact cost of the cleaning. If anything is not to your satisfaction, we appreciate the opportunity to let High Tide fix the problem versus taking a hit in a review.

•  TV: Our Roku TVs may be logged into our services, and you're welcome to use them or log into your own. Note that we no longer have cable.

• The Nest doorbell is there for emergencies and is not regularly monitored. The Nest smoke/CO detectors inside have a motion-sensing nightlight feature. They do not have cameras or microphones.

Parents of small children: We have a pack 'n play by request but BYO sheets. Please clean up/organize any of our toys your kids use before departure.

StarView Cottage is a charming 1940's cottage in a coastal themed setting directly across the street from the beach. An adjacent Cottage A is elevated next door. Both cottages sleep 4-6 guests. Each is a unique offering.
Please read carefully-the separate dwellings are both pictured to show you the overall layout BUT each dwelling is offered as a separate rental. Cottage B (right/bottom-screened porch) OR Cottage A (left/elevated with a sundeck). Description DETAILS ARE FOR Cottage B.

The space
Cottage B is on the right side featuring 2 bedrooms with 2 ensuite bathrooms. Sleeps 2 couples comfortably or if additional space is needed for kiddos, consider using the sleeper sofa in the living room. Note: Any overflow guests (kids or adults) sleeping on the living room sleeper sofa will have to go through a bedroom to access a bathroom.

The screened in porch is a great spot to settle in and enjoy your first cup of java. (Mr. Coffee style pot + filters provided). It has a swinging settee & chair, (which we love) plus 2 additional chairs along with a coffee table.

Cottage B is a charming coastal themed space with a fully equipped kitchen to include new pots & pans, Mr. Coffee style coffee maker, water & wine glasses as well as accessories for entertaining including a blender for frozen fruity drinks. The adjacent dining space accommodates 5-6 guests. The kitchen island bar flips up to seat 2 on bar stools. The living room has a new sleeper sofa with 2 comfortable accent chairs to gently envelop you as you kick back and relax. Our 32" TV has Roku.

Cottage B has central heat & air. All rooms have ceiling fans including the screened in porch. We provide you with all essentials for kitchen, bath & laundry. Beach towels are provided but requested that you wash, dry and store before departure to aid in the turnover. Laundry room is a separate space off the kitchen and has a full size washer & dryer, hanging space, iron along with broom/mop/dust pan for quick clean ups/spills. The recycle bin is located in there as well for you to consolidate to the larger bin outside.

StarView Cottages A & B are ideally located across the main oceanfront road at 518 E. Arctic Avenue giving you direct access to Folly Beach at the 6th Street beach access (1 house away across the street).

One address - 2 properties. Each Cottage has it's own listing. Each cottage accommodates 4-6 maximum guests. Cottage B has back stairs off the laundry room that drop down to the bluestone landscaped back yard. A path from the stairs lead you to the outdoor shower or relax in adirondack chairs in the private quaint area or use the dining table and chairs to dine al fresco. We also have a gas grill, 2 bicycles and beach gear (chairs, umbrella, beach cart). All amenities are on a first come first serve basis. There are 2 umbrellas & enough chairs of different styles to accommodate at least 4 persons per cottage. If your guest count exceeds 4, please be considerate & bring extras from home so each cottage is accommodated.

Pets - A dog is welcome (full disclosure of breed, size & age) with a $150 non-refundable pet fee for the additional responsibilities required of our cleaning service (maximum 1 dog). No other animals permitted. You are responsible for your pet at all times. Due to being a duplex property, if your furry friend will have separation anxiety and continually bark when you head out or to the beach, this property is not for you. We only accept a well behaved, crate trained preferred dog. Pet Waste must be picked up and discarded appropriately and your dog is NOT allowed on any furniture, bed & especially bedding. If this rule is not adhered to, you will lose the security deposit.

Both properties have totally separate entrances but share outdoor common areas i.e., outdoor shower, lower level shaded carport with seating, a gas grill, 2 bicycles, beach chairs & private bluestone back yard. 4 beach chairs only per cottage. This listing features rental for Cottage B, the original 1940's cottage. 8 steps lead up to the screened in porch and front door. For larger groups, or separate families, these cottages make perfect sense giving everyone their own space - If both are simultaneously available, we can book you in both at the published rate for each one.

Please note:

Cleaning starts you off with one new roll of TP in each bathroom and a new roll of paper towels. There are 2 local convenience stores on the island (Bert's Market at 2nd & East Ashley & Circle K Gas Station on Center St.) for additional if you don't bring your own. You will have all the essentials for kitchen, bath and laundry. Mr. Coffee style coffee pot & filters. 2 in 1 Shampoo & body wash, Trash bags, dishwashing, food storage wrap, dishwasher & laundry detergents plus more..

Parking for Cottage B is on the right side of the cottage in front of the screened in porch cottage. Please pull in (bumper forward) and park straight There are 2 available parking spots for each cottage if you need a third, please let us know and we'll do our best to work that out.

Golf Cart Parking: To the right of the driveway, there is a gravel path for parking golf carts. This also gives you closer access for charging. There is a plug just beyond the trash/recycling bins on the right or on the front porch.

Trash- consolidate and roll green can out on Sunday or Wednesday night for early morning pickup Please roll back in once picked up

Recycling - please roll out blue can Sunday night (Memorisl day - Labor Day) but it must go across the street for one way pick up. Thereafter it’s every other week. Please return under the house once picked up.

Our local paper is the Folly Current with fun facts and a dining out guide. Bert's Market is located at 2nd and E. Ashley and is far more than a convenience store, open 24/7.

We are on a septic system so NOTHING other than TP and waste can be flushed. Please Do Not flush the trendy "flushable wipes", not make-up remover cloths, condoms, kleenex, etc... This could cause the system to clog and interrupt your stay. Should you hear or see gurgling toilets, please alert management right away.

The refrigerator & freezer are set at the recommended settings. Changing these settings can cause the system to freeze up. If this happens you will be responsible if a service call needs made. Appliances are not guaranteed and no refunds will be made for failure. We will do everything we can to get a service provider there.

For the following, we need your full cooperation as there is no cleaning service tending to these items:
Bicycles, Outdoor Gear (chairs & umbrella), Beach Cart all require you to spray the items down after use to remove the saltwater and sand to help prevent rusting and make it guest ready for the incoming guests. There is a beach cart for each cottage along with enough chairs and umbrellas to share.

Grill also needs cleaned off after each use. The cleaning brushes or scour pad is in the cabinet under the grill by the propane. If you run out of propane, Bert's market or Folly hardware has propane. We will gladly reimburse you with a receipt.

We tried to think of everything that would make our guests stay most enjoyable. If there is anything you need or might suggest, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We are here for you.

We are located on a barrier island of Folly Beach, therefore, we can be impacted by hurricanes. Our policy states - dates of rental are guaranteed once deposit has been received. This charming, fully renovated, 2BR 1940's cottage is in a prime location one block to beach. Quintessential Folly layout - a huge front porch, capturing the ocean breeze, living room flanked with two bedrooms, both of which have queen beds and each with en-suite full bath. A light filled kitchen with new appliances and all amenities to whip up a meal on vacation. Only a short walk or bike ride to Center Street for great restaurants and shops. Charleston is less than a 15 minute drive.

The space
The Sol Shak is your private Folly Beach retreat, just one block to the beach (with an access directly across from the house) and few blocks to the restaurants, bars, Bert's market, and Center Street, just a short walk away. The street is one off the main drag, so it's super quiet, with privacy from the neighbors and traffic. The front screened in porch has plenty of seating, a large dining table and bistro lights for a perfect nighttime vibe.

Our goal was to create a super relaxing space to share with our family and friends. Guests love that we are just one block from the beach (500 ft.), and only four blocks to the bars and restaurants of Center Street.

- How close to the beach? There is a public beach access one house over, requiring that you walk across two 'skinny blocks' to get to a beautiful public beach- about 500 feet.

- Can I get surf lessons? we own Sol Surfers Surf Camp offering private lessons and surf camps all year around.

- Can I rent surfboards? yes we have surfboards for rent

- Can I rent a golf cart? can be rented through our friends at Charleston Golf Cart Rentals.

- Do you have WiFi and cable? YES! We have Xfinity cable package with Flex Box, Netflix and bluetooth speakers on the porch.

- Do you provide towels and linens? Yes! Bath towels and bed linens are included, but please bring your own beach towels, blankets, and tapestries!

- Can we cook? Yes! There is a range, stainless appliances, and a full set of knives, pots, pans and cookware.

-Whats the coffee situation? There is usually regular coffee and coffee filters on premises along with a Cuisinart drip pot.
