Great back yard area for gathering. Three blocks (0.15 of a mile) from the beach with public access walkway to the beach directly beside the house. Four night minimum in summer months. The perfect home away from home for your vacation. Our large, comfortable family cottage is outfitted with everything you will need while on vacation. This house is perfect for multiple families with children as we have a large loft on the top floor that has its own bathroom and sleeps 8. There are 4 additional bedrooms, all with Queen beds.

Mere steps from the beach, our second row house has both ocean and sounds views and two porches on the oceanside.

The main floor features a great room with ample sitting room, TV, a large dining table, and French doors which open to one of the porches. The kitchen is a cook's dream: gas stove and oven, granite countertops, a large double sink, and side-by-side refrigeration. Our family loves to cook, so we think the kitchen will have everything you need and more! If cooking isn't your thing, there are great restaurants nearby with options for all tastes and price ranges.

All bedrooms feature comfortable queen beds - these are not your average rental mattresses. One bedroom with attached bath is located on the main floor, three bedrooms are on the second floor, one with attached bath, and the loft on the third floor with bath has 3 Queen beds and two twins.

The second floor features another sitting room with a large couch, a large flat screen TV mounted on the the wall, and French doors which open onto the second porch. There are three bedrooms on this floor, the master with attached bath and two others with a shared bath. The washer and dryer are also located on the second floor.

The third floor is a large loft with with 3 queen beds, 2 twin beds, and a bathroom. The bright loft has built in drawers and a closet. The loft has great views of both the ocean and the sound!

Our family has enjoyed Atlantic Beach for over 70 years. We built this house for our family and others to enjoy, so it has comforts and touches that most rentals lack. We have games, books, and beach chairs for your enjoyment. An enclosed outdoor shower helps you clean up before coming in. Cars can park under the house and behind the house. 6 cars fit easily (more could be accommodated). We have unique hardwood floors throughout, which are made with wood that was refurbished from our family's farm in eastern North Carolina.

Atlantic Beach and the surrounding area has much to do for any age group. It is also a wonderful place to visit in the off-season.

The Exum beach cottage on Atlantic Beach, NC, is a family home with a three-generation history. Each generation has added photographs, books and original works of art, all of which give the cottage its unique character. Constructed in 1948, when there was only one other cottage on Club Colony Drive, the house was restored after Hurricane Hazel in 1954 and extensively renovated in 2022.

Located on the beach front and surrounded by a garden of native plants, dune grasses and herbs, the house features a hammock for lounging over the sand, a front porch with rocking chairs on the second level and a spectacular panoramic ocean view from the third-floor master suite.

I’m addition, I felt that the rental price was so favorable that I initially had doubts that this listing was real lol! I can assure you that it is! The property is located in a small private community where all of the other houses aesthetically match, and that might bring you more enjoyment than you may initially think. The property is conveniently located for Atlantic Beach activities, the house is right by the large private community pool, and beach access was good - you do have to walk a little bit but the path is direct and easy to navigate. The ocean view is stunning. Although it was not clear from the listing, the house has an elevator, very good Internet speed, and real cable TV as well. The property owners were very nice and communication was good. I hope to visit again and highly recommend!"

- "This house is super cute and very convenient to the beach! Great deck and right at the beach without having to go up or down steps which was nice with a wagon of stuff! Lots of dining and lounging space including the basement that has been redone for kids or teenagers. It’s furnished with plenty of chairs/couches and games, tvs, puzzles for indoor time too! Lots of beds and bedrooms! Great parking and easy rental company to work with. However the showers are small and both downstairs beside each other (which limited who showered and when- spouses or parents/kids). Our kids were old enough to shower on their own, but I’d imagine if you had younger children that needed help it would be too small bc the area/room outside of the shower is just as small. You really have to come out into the basement to dry off, etc. They aren’t tubs but more built in showers. We read about the small showers and saw pics but still not quite what we were expecting- keep that in mind if that’s a big deal for you. Overall we loved the house, location and price- and will return :)"

We are into the fifth family generation enjoying this summer retreat for all ages. Featuring 6 full bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, everyone is comfortable. Two separate living/TV areas, main floor and basement make it nice when the kids want their space.. A large dining area offers room for family meals and the huge private oceanfront deck offers the finest views on the beach, from rocking under the covered porch or lounging in the sun catching rays.

An extra refrigerator on the ground floor is handy for keeping fresh vegetables or seafood from the local farmer's and fish markets. Gas grill, as well as beach chairs provided. There are two adult/two kids' bikes, a jogging stroller, and a heavy-duty plastic pull wagon. You can play darts or take out the paddleboard. Renters have use of some basic kids' toys and boogie boards.

Plenty of parking for 6 vehicles. . and a quiet, family neighborhood. You can walk to some restaurants or bars, a donut shop, or ice cream parlor. There is a nice public park with splash pad, putt-putt golf, swings and a skate park - an easy walk away. Safe and fun for the family - you will want to return every year.

Guest access
Access the home day and night with a Smart Lock. You'll receive the access code prior to your arrival. It will be activated at your check-in time and deactivated at checkout, thus ensuring that no previous guests potentially have access during your stay.

The storage shed in the back yard and small linen closet at the end of the hall are not available to our guests.

Other things to note
1. Our housekeeper charges $120 for cleaning. She makes linens (three queen sheet sets and six towel sets) available for an extra $30. Many guests drive to Atlantic Beach and prefer to bring their own, so we keep linens optional. If you’d like them provided, we’ll send a $30 linen fee request through the Airbnb portal.

2. Please help us keep our drain pipes flowing freely.
a. Use outside hot/cold shower to rinse sand from feet and body.
b. Rinse all sand off items, and let dry before bringing inside the cottage.
c. Rinse sand from bathing suits and clothing, and shake dry sand from towels, before placing in the washer.

3. Fish should be cleaned outside.

4. Small to medium (up to 30 pounds) dogs are welcome by permission.
a. Please let us know of the dog guests upon making your reservation. Generally, there will not be a dog fee as long as the dogs are not allowed to sleep on the bedding, and there are no signs of dog guests that require our housekeeper to spend additional time cleaning.
b. Dogs should be crated when unattended.

5. Garbage should be placed in kitchen garbage bags, and not placed loosely in the outside garbage bin. Excess garbage should be bagged and placed beside the bin.
**Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, garbage pickup is Tuesday and Friday.
**Between Labor Day and Memorial Day, garbage is picked up once a week on Monday, as early as 7 a.m.

Please roll the large garbage container to the street on Sunday and Wednesday evenings(summer), Sunday evening (Sept - May) AND ON THE DAY OF YOUR DEPARTURE.

Recycling is picked up on MONDAY only throughout the year. Occasionally, the recycling truck is behind schedule. It is not uncommon for it to arrive on Tuesday if they miss the Monday pickup. Please place the recycling container at the street on Sunday evening and on the day of your departure.

Built in the 50s, this charming cottage is just the escape you need. Just two blocks from the ocean, there are a few beach accesses within a minute's walk. A small oceanfront cottage is hard to find, and you've just hit paydirt for your next fun-filled vacation with family and friends! The private, oceanfront primary bedroom has a queen bed and an en-suite bath, with the top-level all to itself. One of the area’s original beach cottages located on the second row in the heart of Atlantic Beach. Enjoy the sea breeze and ocean views from the front porch rocking chairs, or take a short walk to the pier or nearby restaurants and shops.

(3) Third (upstairs) level with two bedrooms and full bath with shower/ tub.

Parking in back of house with up to 3 parking spaces. One compact car can park in a small space in front of the house. There is a ramp on the front (ocean) side into the main level that would be good for wheelchairs, strollers, etc.

There is a large front deck that is partially covered and has latching gates.

There is an owner’s closet in the basement and a locked cabinet in the kitchen, otherwise everything is accessible.

Other things to note
Please take note:
- BASEMENT/LOWER LEVEL: the lower level (including one bedroom, half bath, laundry and shower rooms) is separate from the rest of the house. The only access from the basement level to the rest of the house is to go outside and use the steps by the entrance. The basement bedroom temperature is controlled by the thermostat on the main level and by adjusting the air vents if needed.
- WATCH YOUR HEAD: The house was built during a time that people were much shorter (I think). On the basement level and upstairs, there are some low beams or walls, so just watch your head (especially if >6 ft like me).
- TV’s : There is a TV in the basement bedroom and the living room. We have Roku so you can use Netflix etc. There are no TV’s in other bedrooms.
- Wi-Fi : there is basic Wi-Fi access that is free to use.
- Pets : no pets allowed.
- Kitchen: the new stovetop uses induction, so you need to use induction pots/pans for it to work. There is a button for the downdraft to pop up if needed when using the stove.
- Linens : The beds will be made with clean linens. Please strip beds when you leave and put dirty linens downstairs near the washing machine.
- Grills : there is a wood pellet grill in the basement that can be taken outside for grilling.
