SAILFISH IN AVON is a lovely 5 bedroom beach cottage located on an ocean front cul de sac that is seconds away from beach access. You do not have to cross a street to go over the dunes.! Walk out the front door of Sailfish, go to the street, (S. Beachcomber) turn to your right and go north on S. Beachcomber). Go past the next door neighbor' s house and the wooden walkway to the beach is right after the neighbor s house. Turn right and go over the dunes on the wooden walkway to the lovely beach. We also accept pets. There is a pet fee. Part of our renovation this year is new flooring. NO carpet anywhere except for the stairs.
OUR OTHER RENOVATION includes NEWLY CONSTRUCTED. OUTSIDE STAIRS AND DECKS! We also have all stainless steel kitchen appliances. We have a Keurig coffee pot as well as a Mr. Coffee.
.Avon is a great village with a Food Lion, ice cream shops, gift shops, Studio 12 for pottery painting and terrific restaurants. We also have a new CANDY STORE! Come spread your blanket on our gorgeous beach. You are also within walking distance (3/4 mile on the beach) of the Avon Pier.

We ate in every day, and the kitchen was well-equipped. We had one rainy day, and we enjoyed the shipwreck museum by the ferry landing for Ocracoke. We really enjoyed the birdwalk at the lighthouse station; the ranger and the volunteer were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. It's about an hour drive to Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge; we enjoyed a kayak trip there. On our different walks we saw egrets (great and snowy), and a piping plover as well as herons and skimmers. We are new to the east coast beach, and we learned that you want to swim on the sound side. The ocean side is for wading and beachcombing only! "

Sand Crab is an original small beach box raised to meet higher tides...The cottage is semi-oceanfront with limited views from the front deck and screened porch. Ideal for small families and couples. We are 75 footsteps from our north beach access and 100 footsteps from our south beach access-fabulous, open beaches with famous surf fishing and boarding opportunities! New and expanded porch this year. Bedrooms fully renovated this year.

The cottage offers two newly renovated bedrooms (new queen mattresses in both), a full bathroom, and a combination living/kitchen and dining area. The kitchen provides upgraded appliances and all basic cooking needs. Our living area includes a large screen TV w/ DVD, radio/CD player, and DVD and book libraries. Multiple board games in house.

The cottage boasts beautiful hardwood floors throughout, an upgraded kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and quality linens (provided).

The screened porch offers (limited) ocean view and bug-free lounging. Dining for four is included. Additional and enlarged outdoor seating and lounging is available on the side deck (new deck furniture) and back yard patio--which includes a fishing cleaning station, charcoal grill, and chairs.

The ground level includes a large outdoor shower with hot and cold water and changing and sittings areas, laundry room with washer and dryer and storage, and under-home parking for two. Extras include beach gear: umbrella, chairs, beach cart and boogie boards.

Located at the north end of Avon, Sand Crab is within walking/biking/driving distance to many local amenities and attractions. Avon also boasts an excellent biking trail along Route 12 to make 2-wheel adventures easy. Travelers with 4x4 vehicles can access beach roads at open ramps with purchase of park vehicle permits (at Bodie Island or Hatteras Lighthouse).

Note: Rental week is Saturday to Saturday. Check-in by 4-6PM. Guests are welcome to park and enjoy the beach while waiting for check-in. Check-out is 10AM.

For beach-lovers, swimmers, boarders, and shell-seekers: Enjoy a quick walk over the dune to the gorgeous Avon beach for miles of beach leisure and activities.

For Fishers: The island offers a variety of world famous fishing options and we love them all! Owners are happy to provide guests with local tips, info about license needs and tours, and fishing updates on request. Whether you prefer surf fishing (across the dune from house), pier fishing, head boat or charter fishing ("Wicked Tuna" hails from Oregon Inlet), Hatteras Island offers it all. For the Adventure-Seeker: Guests love local opportunities to rent kayaks, paddleboards, surfboards, SUPs, and canoes; participate in guided nature and water tours; horse back through the woods to the beach; climb the Hatteras Lighthouse; parasail; and daytrip to Ocracoke, Nags Head, and Corova.

For the Family: Beyond the beach, take a ferry ride to Ocracoke; sail a kite or two; go mini-golfing (Frisco); eat ice-cream; run a go-kart (Frisco); craft at the local workshops; let kids play on our screened, lockable porch. Consider a memorable daytrip for any interests. New waterpark in Powell's Point is about 1-1 and 1/2 hours from cottage.

DEPOSIT/PAYMENT: A deposit of 50% of the rental rate is required at the time of booking (guests are welcome to pay in full at time of reservation). The remaining balance must be paid no less than 30 days prior to check-in. Guests that do not pay the remainder balance on time will have reservations canceled and will not be refunded initial deposit. For reservations within 30 days of booking, full payment is required at booking.
30 DAY CANCELLATION POLICY: Deposits are fully refundable up to 30 days before the start of your reservation. Travelers who cancel between 14 and 30 days before their reservation will receive a 50% refund. Within 14 days of the start of your reservation, you are responsible for the full cost of the reservation. While we understand that emergencies happen, the reason for the cancellation does not change our refund policy. There are NO weather related refunds. If you are concerned that you may not be able to keep your reservation, we recommend travel insurance. Please look online for the best travel insurance for you.
RATES: All listed rates are based on a maximum 4 person occupancy. Rental week is Saturday to Saturday.
DAMAGE PROTECTION: Applicable refunds are issued within 7 days of checkout.
AGE REQUIREMENTS: Guests of all ages are welcome at our cottage. However, the responsible party must be a minimum of 25 years of age. This person must be the one to assume responsibility for the property and staying at the property for the duration of the rental period.
FIREWORKS POLICY: While on vacation you may see or hear other visitors setting off fireworks; however, please note that ALL fireworks are illegal in our (Dare) county. If caught, you will receive a substantial county fine. This is an important law that protects us from home and brush fires that are occur easily during the dry months. Any use of fireworks on Sand Crab property will result in immediate eviction with No Refund.

We have plenty of beach toys for all to enjoy from surf boards to a paddleboard. Several kayaks including an ocean kayak. Beach chairs and coolers. Walk across the street to put in the kayaks and paddleboard or pack on in your truck and try Canadian Cove 2 miles south on the right. The high speed ferry to Ocracoke Island is open. Hatteras and Ocracoke Island have made Dr. Beach's top ten list several times.
You can rent any open dates, it does not have to be Saturday to Saturday.

High Tide is a perfect place for your next beach vacation. It is a top floor rental unit. We live on the bottom floor, Unit A, "Low Tide." We have a small family of 4 and our dog Daisy. It is located in Avon, North Carolina in the Hatteras Colony neighborhood. In just a three minute walk, you will be able to enjoy the wide open, uncrowded beautiful beaches. High Tide is conveniently located near a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream shops, and also our local grocery store. The famous Avon, Pier is just a short drive to enjoy some fishing, surfing, or just taking a walk to look for shells.

We’ve fallen in love with this cozy cottage and we think you will too. Conveniently located in Avon Village in the middle of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, it offers easy day trips to Oregon Inlet or Hatteras Village for deep sea fishing excursions or sightseeing trips to Cape Point, Hatteras Light or Ocracoke.
However, once you discover all that Avon has to offer, you might never want to leave! We are a short drive (5 minutes) away from public access to the National Seashore-discover and enjoy the beauty and the wildness of the Outer Banks. Shelling, fishing, swimming and surfing are minutes away. If kiteboarding and windsurfing interest you, the Freckled Dog is a 10 minute drive to Canadian Hole, famous for wind sports, on the sound side.
Having a canal in our backyard provides easy access for your kayak or paddle-board or just enjoying a quiet view of the water from our all-season porch and our upper and lower decks. We are a short walk away from Avon Harbor, where you can take a fishing charter or family fun charter (Tightlinez) on the sound. The harbor is also a great spot for viewing sunsets or grabbing some oysters from Kinnakeet Oyster Company.
Got bikes-bring them! The flatness of the National Seashore provides easy bike rides for everyone. Ride around the village of Avon and grab some ice cream. Or take a ride to the Avon Pier and check out what folks are catching. If longer rides interest you, ride all the way down to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and explore the grounds there.
Whether you spend your day playing in the surf and sand or just relaxing in the sun, you’ll enjoy quiet evenings at the Freckled Dog, either on the porch with beautiful night views of the canal or tucked up inside, with the sounds of the ocean off in the distance.

- "The property is a neat little duplex right on the beach with a deck with chairs looking at the ocean. It's a bit of a hike to the ocean (steep dune to climb). Propety was clean, well equiped. This has been one of the best kept properties I've stayed in." - "I had a nice time at this property for the month of April. The property needs a little TLC (paint, minor fixes) but overall was a pleasant stay." - "The property was in an excellent location. The beach was just over the sand dunes. The drive to Nags Head was worth the privacy and less population. The unit was comfortable enough for 3 adults and somewhat dated and in need of upgrades. As others have said, the furniture probably is original to the house and really should be upgraded. It is fabric and holds a lot of odor, especially pet odor. The description states "no pets" but that is not the case. Both the couch and one of the twin beds was covered in dog hair and the odor was horrible. If you have pet allergies, beware. There were dogs there prior to our arrival as we found dog food on the floor and in the slider door tracks leading out to the balcony. It was easily cleaned up, but should not have been missed. The description also stated the balcony was private. While there was a wooden partition between the 2 units, it was not private. You can see the neighbors completely and there is a gate that connects the 2 units that does not have a lock on it. So, make sure you do not leave anything of value on the deck."

- "It was a nice and clean house" - "This was our second time staying in this cute, cozy, and convenient little house on the beach. Just the right size for our little family and so nice to be able to walk right onto the beach. We love this place. The only minor complaint I have is the rusty door latch on the outdoor shower. You have to be careful opening the door because of that and we certainly wouldn't let the kids touch it. Other than that I highly recommend staying at this place."

Our cozy oceanfront “treehouse” is a charming round home steps from one of the nicest beaches in the Outer Banks and a short walk, bike ride or drive to everything you need such as restaurants, grocery/liquor stores, wide variety of family and night life activities, fishing/tackle shops, ice cream shops, spa, gym, fitness classes such as yoga on the beach, the pier, live music, and much more. It has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a queen in the master and a bunk bed with a full on the bottom and a single on the top in the guest room. We also have high speed internet/WiFi, a 55” 4K smart tv, “double thick” queen air mattress that you can set up in the living room, outdoor furniture etc. It is technically considered a “semi-oceanfront” because there’s a lot in between my property and the dune, but there’s no house on the lot making it a protected oceanfront which is one of the primary reasons we fell in love with this super charming and unique cozy cottage that feels like a tree house behind the dunes. A variety of youth life jackets are kept in the laundry closet with beach toys, beach chairs, 2 umbrellas, a beach buggy cart and some boogie boards for guests to use.

Outdoor amenities: Enjoy two decks (one covered, one uncovered) for sunbathing, reading, and outdoor eating.

April - November: An outdoor shower and foot bath are located under the house by the stairs for you to rinse off from the beach. There’s also a fish station located under the house if you decide to clean up your catch for dinner. Closed during winter months for winterization.

The house is pet-friendly (the pet fee is $114 per stay).

Parking is available in front of the house. Two cars maximum - as we share the easement with our neighbors.

To get to the beach: Go down the easement, make a left, go up the stairs to the left of the teal house and you will find beach access.

Avon village offers incredible preserved seashore, a plethora of water activities (surfing, wind-surfing, kayaking, beach fishing, deep sea fishing...), lighthouses, year-round dining, a grocery store, art galleries and great beach gift shops. The space
The “OBX Treehouse” (name inspired by young boy walking to beach who complimented us on our “treehouse”) is only steps from one of the nicest/most protected sections of beaches in OBX north of the pier in Avon. It is also a short walk/bike ride to everything you need such as several restaurants and bars, grocery store, live music, spa, gym/fitness classes, outdoor yoga, fish and tackle, general/beach stores, wine/beer and liquor, the pier, family activities etc.

Our cozy tree house has two bedrooms (master with queen bed and a guest room with full/twin bunk bed as well as a queen pullout sofa and queen size air mattress in the living room if you need an extra bed or 2). The living room has a 55” 4K Smart TV and the new upper deck is perfect for watching the deer run by in the morning, the pelicans fishing in the afternoon, the dolphins and whales swimming by at sunset, and the stars at night. There is one full bathroom upstairs and one half bathroom as well as an outdoor shower and laundry room on ground level.

You have access to the entire property and of course the entire beach only steps away from the deck. There are paths right from the driveway next to the deck or you can take the public access at the end of the street which is a wooden boardwalk for most of the path until you get to the dunes. Parking spaces are next to the stairs and along the roped in area protecting the septic system.

The Hidden Gem is newly remodeled and a beautifully renovated home which was designed with style and comfort in mind. The home is nicely furnished, and each room was carefully crafted to provide you with the comforts of home while escaping to the beaches of the Outer Banks. We are also excited to announce the many upgrades we made to our home since last season! We now have a newly expanded property line providing ample space to enjoy all of your outdoor activities. We hope that our detailed list of new amenities will assist you while planning and packing for your next vacation.

Upon entry you will be greeted with cozy, coastal décor along with a spacious living room, newly furnished bedrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen features high end LG stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, and shaker style cabinets to help with preparing meals and maximizing counter space. Our fully equipped kitchen has all of the necessary items you will need for cooking. For example, we have a Keurig as well as traditional coffee maker. We also have a 8 quart Foodi Ninja, a waffle maker, as well as a brand new set of pots and pans along with all the tools you will need for cooking, baking and grilling!, The in-home utility room features a full-size LG Turbowash Wifi enabled washer and LG Wifi enabled True Steam dryer. The master bedroom is located on the west side of the home and includes a queen size Sealy pillow top mattress, Sony 55' 4K TV and a private entrance into the spacious master bathroom. Two more bedrooms and a bathroom are located on the east side of the home. Both bedrooms come fully furnished with Sealy pillow top mattresses and Sony large screen 50-55" 4K TV's. All of our TVs are set up with Roku so you will also be able to watch all of your favorite shows through your streaming subscriptions. We also have included an Xbox in the kids room so they are able to play all of their favorite games while away from home. Outside on both the front and back decks, you can enjoy sitting in our Adirondack chairs while taking in the beautiful views of the serene island trees hugging the water's edge. You'll be a short distance from the beach and minutes away from local island shops and restaurants.

We recently added a storage shed that is fully secured and stocked with all your beach necessities. You will be more than pleased to find all of the items you could possibly need to enjoy all aspects of the Outer Banks. We provide our guests with bikes, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, fishing poles, stand up paddle boards, rolling coolers, and beach wagons to use and enjoy during your stay! Inside you will find that all of these items are neatly stored and easy to access.

PET OWNERS: Dogs are required to be on leashes when outside the home unless they are on the decks. Guests must clean up after their pet both in our yard and on the island. We allow our guests to bring only one dog up to 50lbs ; we may consider a larger dog and/or additional dogs on a case by case basis. Please reach out to us and we can discuss your needs. Please include your pet information when you are booking or making a reservation inquiry.

TRAVEL INSURANCE: Hatteras Island is prone to storms and hurricanes. I recommend travel insurance if you are concerned and want to protect your vacation. Travers or Allianz can provide coverage but please research companies to determine which option best meets your family’s needs.

Hypnautic offers easy kayak and quick access to the Pamlico sound via a private dock on beautiful Askins Creek. 2 adult kayaks, 1 mid-sized, 2 large youth and 3 small youth kayaks are included in the rental. A variety of youth life jackets are kept in the laundry closet with beach toys, beach chairs, 2 umbrellas, a beach buggy cart and some boogie boards for guests to use.

Linens and bath towels are provided and serviced by Island Time Properties who clean and service our house.

Beach towels and kitchen towels are available at the house for use during your stay. We do ask that you wash and fold these as Island Time does not service them.

Beautiful beach house in Avon provides ocean views, sunrises on the front decks, sunsets on the porch and quick access to the beach, restaurants and shopping. The boardwalk to the beach is directly in front of the house. Restaurants, groceries and shopping are less than 300yds away.

The space
“Sea You On The Other Side” is located in the town of Avon, NC. Beach boardwalk access is located directly across the street. A short walk or bike ride will bring you to restaurants and shopping at Dirty Dicks, Duck Donuts, La Fogata, Bros Sandwich Shack, Gidget’s Pizza, Surf’s Up Seafood Market, China Town, Food Lion and more.

Guest access
Entire home. The owners closet located in the top floor half bath is not to be entered.

3 night rental minimum. 10% discount on 7 night rentals.

Towels and linens are NOT provided. These items are available to rent through Hatteras Helping Hands, another service or you may bring your own.
