SAILFISH IN AVON is a lovely 5 bedroom beach cottage located on an ocean front cul de sac that is seconds away from beach access. You do not have to cross a street to go over the dunes.! Walk out the front door of Sailfish, go to the street, (S. Beachcomber) turn to your right and go north on S. Beachcomber). Go past the next door neighbor' s house and the wooden walkway to the beach is right after the neighbor s house. Turn right and go over the dunes on the wooden walkway to the lovely beach. We also accept pets. There is a pet fee. Part of our renovation this year is new flooring. NO carpet anywhere except for the stairs.
OUR OTHER RENOVATION includes NEWLY CONSTRUCTED. OUTSIDE STAIRS AND DECKS! We also have all stainless steel kitchen appliances. We have a Keurig coffee pot as well as a Mr. Coffee.
.Avon is a great village with a Food Lion, ice cream shops, gift shops, Studio 12 for pottery painting and terrific restaurants. We also have a new CANDY STORE! Come spread your blanket on our gorgeous beach. You are also within walking distance (3/4 mile on the beach) of the Avon Pier.

We ate in every day, and the kitchen was well-equipped. We had one rainy day, and we enjoyed the shipwreck museum by the ferry landing for Ocracoke. We really enjoyed the birdwalk at the lighthouse station; the ranger and the volunteer were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. It's about an hour drive to Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge; we enjoyed a kayak trip there. On our different walks we saw egrets (great and snowy), and a piping plover as well as herons and skimmers. We are new to the east coast beach, and we learned that you want to swim on the sound side. The ocean side is for wading and beachcombing only! "

Sand Crab is an original small beach box raised to meet higher tides...The cottage is semi-oceanfront with limited views from the front deck and screened porch. Ideal for small families and couples. We are 75 footsteps from our north beach access and 100 footsteps from our south beach access-fabulous, open beaches with famous surf fishing and boarding opportunities! New and expanded porch this year. Bedrooms fully renovated this year.

The cottage offers two newly renovated bedrooms (new queen mattresses in both), a full bathroom, and a combination living/kitchen and dining area. The kitchen provides upgraded appliances and all basic cooking needs. Our living area includes a large screen TV w/ DVD, radio/CD player, and DVD and book libraries. Multiple board games in house.

The cottage boasts beautiful hardwood floors throughout, an upgraded kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and quality linens (provided).

The screened porch offers (limited) ocean view and bug-free lounging. Dining for four is included. Additional and enlarged outdoor seating and lounging is available on the side deck (new deck furniture) and back yard patio--which includes a fishing cleaning station, charcoal grill, and chairs.

The ground level includes a large outdoor shower with hot and cold water and changing and sittings areas, laundry room with washer and dryer and storage, and under-home parking for two. Extras include beach gear: umbrella, chairs, beach cart and boogie boards.

Located at the north end of Avon, Sand Crab is within walking/biking/driving distance to many local amenities and attractions. Avon also boasts an excellent biking trail along Route 12 to make 2-wheel adventures easy. Travelers with 4x4 vehicles can access beach roads at open ramps with purchase of park vehicle permits (at Bodie Island or Hatteras Lighthouse).

Note: Rental week is Saturday to Saturday. Check-in by 4-6PM. Guests are welcome to park and enjoy the beach while waiting for check-in. Check-out is 10AM.

For beach-lovers, swimmers, boarders, and shell-seekers: Enjoy a quick walk over the dune to the gorgeous Avon beach for miles of beach leisure and activities.

For Fishers: The island offers a variety of world famous fishing options and we love them all! Owners are happy to provide guests with local tips, info about license needs and tours, and fishing updates on request. Whether you prefer surf fishing (across the dune from house), pier fishing, head boat or charter fishing ("Wicked Tuna" hails from Oregon Inlet), Hatteras Island offers it all. (See "Distances to Attractions below for access info) All seasons are great fishing seasons!

For the Adventure-Seeker: Guests love local opportunities to rent kayaks, paddleboards, surfboards, SUPs, and canoes; participate in guided nature and water tours; horse back through the woods to the beach; climb the Hatteras Lighthouse; parasail; and daytrip to Ocracoke, Nags Head, and Corova.

For the Family: Beyond the beach, take a ferry ride to Ocracoke; sail a kite or two; go mini-golfing (Frisco); eat ice-cream; run a go-kart (Frisco); craft at the local workshops; let kids play on our screened, lockable porch. Consider a memorable daytrip for any interests. New waterpark in Powell's Point is about 1-1 and 1/2 hours from cottage.

For the Romantics: Light a beach bonfire (permit required, but can do online); take in a concert at Koru Village; savor a unique seafood dinner; relax with a massage; sit on our porch and watch the stars.

Policies:
DEPOSIT/PAYMENT: A deposit of 50% of the rental rate is required at the time of booking (guests are welcome to pay in full at time of reservation). The remaining balance must be paid no less than 30 days prior to check-in. Guests that do not pay the remainder balance on time will have reservations canceled and will not be refunded initial deposit. For reservations within 30 days of booking, full payment is required at booking.
30 DAY CANCELLATION POLICY: Deposits are fully refundable up to 30 days before the start of your reservation. Travelers who cancel between 14 and 30 days before their reservation will receive a 50% refund. Within 14 days of the start of your reservation, you are responsible for the full cost of the reservation. While we understand that emergencies happen, the reason for the cancellation does not change our refund policy. There are NO weather related refunds. If you are concerned that you may not be able to keep your reservation, we recommend travel insurance. Please look online for the best travel insurance for you.
RATES: All listed rates are based on a maximum 4 person occupancy. Rental week is Saturday to Saturday.
DAMAGE PROTECTION: Applicable refunds are issued within 7 days of checkout.
AGE REQUIREMENTS: Guests of all ages are welcome at our cottage. However, the responsible party must be a minimum of 25 years of age. This person must be the one to assume responsibility for the property and staying at the property for the duration of the rental period.
FIREWORKS POLICY: While on vacation you may see or hear other visitors setting off fireworks; however, please note that ALL fireworks are illegal in our (Dare) county. If caught, you will receive a substantial county fine. This is an important law that protects us from home and brush fires that are occur easily during the dry months. Any use of fireworks on Sand Crab property will result in immediate eviction with No Refund.

We have plenty of beach toys for all to enjoy from surf boards to a paddleboard. Several kayaks including an ocean kayak. Beach chairs and coolers. Walk across the street to put in the kayaks and paddleboard or pack on in your truck and try Canadian Cove 2 miles south on the right. The high speed ferry to Ocracoke Island is open. Hatteras and Ocracoke Island have made Dr. Beach's top ten list several times.
You can rent any open dates, it does not have to be Saturday to Saturday.

High Tide is a perfect place for your next beach vacation. It is a top floor rental unit. We live on the bottom floor, Unit A, "Low Tide." We have a small family of 4 and our dog Daisy. It is located in Avon, North Carolina in the Hatteras Colony neighborhood. In just a three minute walk, you will be able to enjoy the wide open, uncrowded beautiful beaches. High Tide is conveniently located near a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream shops, and also our local grocery store. The famous Avon, Pier is just a short drive to enjoy some fishing, surfing, or just taking a walk to look for shells.

We’ve fallen in love with this cozy cottage and we think you will too. Conveniently located in Avon Village in the middle of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, it offers easy day trips to Oregon Inlet or Hatteras Village for deep sea fishing excursions or sightseeing trips to Cape Point, Hatteras Light or Ocracoke.
However, once you discover all that Avon has to offer, you might never want to leave! We are a short drive (5 minutes) away from public access to the National Seashore-discover and enjoy the beauty and the wildness of the Outer Banks. Shelling, fishing, swimming and surfing are minutes away. If kiteboarding and windsurfing interest you, the Freckled Dog is a 10 minute drive to Canadian Hole, famous for wind sports, on the sound side.
Having a canal in our backyard provides easy access for your kayak or paddle-board or just enjoying a quiet view of the water from our all-season porch and our upper and lower decks. We are a short walk away from Avon Harbor, where you can take a fishing charter or family fun charter (Tightlinez) on the sound. The harbor is also a great spot for viewing sunsets or grabbing some oysters from Kinnakeet Oyster Company.
Got bikes-bring them! The flatness of the National Seashore provides easy bike rides for everyone. Ride around the village of Avon and grab some ice cream. Or take a ride to the Avon Pier and check out what folks are catching. If longer rides interest you, ride all the way down to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and explore the grounds there.
Whether you spend your day playing in the surf and sand or just relaxing in the sun, you’ll enjoy quiet evenings at the Freckled Dog, either on the porch with beautiful night views of the canal or tucked up inside, with the sounds of the ocean off in the distance.

This is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath quaint cottage. You will find a full kitchen with new appliances 7/24. There is a refrigerator, dishwasher, oven/stove, microwave, air fryer/toaster oven, coffee maker (drip and Keurig), tea kettle, dishes, pots/pans and utensils.
There are 3 bar stools along the counter and a table that has 8 chairs. There is a sofa, loveseat, 2 chairs and a rocking chair. There is a 65" smart tv in the living room.
In the master bedroom there is a king bed, full private bath/shower and a 55" smart tv.
The blue and green bedrooms have queen beds with 43" smart tvs.
There are 2 sets of bunk beds in the bunk bed room (for children 125 lbs or less) with a 43" smart tv.
Parking is limited to 3 vehicles, in order not to block the neighbors’ driveways.
The beach is a short walk down the side street to the walkway that has steps going over the dune. This may be difficult for people who have mobility problems going up steps or walking in the soft sand to the beach.
