Hidden treasure is an island style beach cottage situated amongst beautiful old oak trees. The house is located on a quite lane about a block long that has the ocean at one end and the sound at the other. Though we are on an interior lot, it is just steps (approximately 80 yards) to either the private beach access or to the small ramp that you have access to the sound from. The cottage itself was fully renovated in 2008-- the interior was gutted and the entire space was redone. It has an open floor plan for the living and kitchen area and all areas look out to the trees. A screened porch and a rear deck can both be accessed from the main living area. A deck lines one side of the house that leads from the screened porch to the covered front porch. Sitting on the screened porch is like being in a tree house-- branches arch gracefully all around you providing a pathway for squirrels and birds to bound from one to another. You can hear the ocean most days from this spot-- it is relaxation at its best. The cottage is about 900 square feet but feels larger because of the open floor plan and raised ceiling height in the living room. The floors are tile through out-- which is easy to clean. The two bedrooms provide sleeping for four-- one has a queen bed the other has a full size. Again it is hard to describe how wonderful it feels waking up to the sound of birds and the ocean and seeing the tree branches surrounding you. Totally relaxing!! Hidden Treasure is perfect for a family getaway, a couples retreat, or girls week away.

- "This cozy cottage was the perfect place to come home to every night. Queen size bed was comfy for husband and I. Full size bed with bathroom was perfect for my two sons (10&12). The outdoor shower was perfect for rinsing off after spending time in the sun & sand and not tracking sand upstairs. Kitchen was well stocked and I could easily cook in dinners if we didn’t want to go back out. We were sure to bring some essentials so we didn’t need to buy them once there: laundry soap, dishwasher tabs, paper towels, a few rolls of TP- it was the perfect amount. The outdoor/screened in porch was so relaxing for coffee in the morning and a great mid-day nap…. Always a choir of cicadas to sing you to sleep! All in all- great, cozy, very clean, lovely. We would go back! We originally planned to bring our lab pup (1yr)but did not end up bringing her. Julie has a lot of pretty decor around that she prob would have knocked over with her wagging tail 😂 perfect for mature dogs!"

Not a big deal, though. -The host was extremely responsive and offered to make suggestions for restaurants, etc., but was not intrusive at all. -Having a deck that was partly covered and partly open was really nice—and the porch swing was AMAZING!!! -Everything in the house worked as it should. (We did not use the upstairs, so I can’t speak for that part of the house). -The outdoor shower is wonderful. I actually only used the inside one once after is realized how nice the outside one is! -My only suggestion would be replacing some pillows and mattress pads, some of which are stained and look dirty. Overall, the house has everything you need. The host is exceptionally responsive and receptive and will work with you on any questions you have. But the location absolutely can’t be beat. You’re literally ON the beach—the water can come up under the deck during high tide. The beach itself is clean and there is plenty of room to stretch out. We enjoyed our 2 weeks here and the only complaint is that it ended too soon!!"

They have two small bedrooms (a queen bed in one and a full-size bed in the other), a bathroom, and a kitchen/living/dining area. They each have a smart TV with basic cable and Wi-Fi. The apartments share a nice-sized deck with a table and chairs. This makes a great spot for early morning coffee, an evening beverage or to share a meal in the salt air.

Just off the deck is a common courtyard with a hammock, a gas grill, a picnic table, an outdoor hot/cold enclosed shower, and plenty of open space for a group. This space is ideal for group cookouts, games, or just relaxing out of the sun or the wind when the beach is a little too sunny or breezy. A walkway to the side of the main cottage provides direct ocean access for the guest cottage apartment guests.

When you enter the beachfront cottage, you will be WOWED by the view. Seeing the beach and beautiful sea over the sea oats and dunes is breathtaking. The cheerfully decorated open kitchen/great room space has everything you need to relax and feel at home. The kitchen is well stocked with enough dishes, glasses, cookware, blenders and large pots for a big family seafood boil or Sunday turkey dinner. There is a smart TV with expanded basic cable service. There is also WIFI for those guests who feel they may need to remain connected to the outside world. The beachfront deck is a great place for sunning, reading, watching the surfers, children playing in the sand, kites, sipping a cup of coffee or your favorite beverage, daydreaming, or enjoying an afternoon nap.

You will be lulled to sleep and be gently awoken by the gentle sounds of the sea from the oceanfront primary bedroom with a private bath. The second cheerful oceanfront queen-size room and bunkroom guests share a nice hall bathroom with a tiled shower. There are a large capacity washer and dryer, dishwasher, and convenient outdoor shower to minimize your family chores.

Large driveway for parking or outdoor games. This is the perfect location for walking, running, or biking! Low traffic area and safe for children. Nice park for children 5 blocks away.

Quiet neighborhood with minimal traffic, excellent spot for riding bikes, walking, running, and allowing kids to play safely. Second row, half a block from beach access point with an easy walk for most. A beautiful new kids playground is 5 blocks away, excellent for toddlers and young kids.

Access to restaurants, shops, etc within 5 minutes: drive, bike, or rent a golf cart. In and around the neighborhood you can walk, run, bike, rent a golf cart or drive around and enjoy the area right along the beach.

We restock our beach items at the beginning of each season however our inventory of chairs, floats, and sand toys varies throughout the summer depending on what guests take, break, or leave behind. Please note that while we provide pillows and blankets you will need to bring your own sheets, pillowcases, and towels or rent them from one of the vendors on the island. We'll be happy to connect you up. Bicycles, kayaks, surfboards, fishing equipment, beach umbrellas and other paraphernalia are also available for rent close by.

Too much sun? Don't fret! The island's Sea Turtle Hospital is internationally known for their work and is well worth a tour. They operate entirely from donations so your admission really does support a great cause. Be sure to go online and check their tour hours before you run down there. They are located on the mainland just over the swing bridge and down the road from the miniature golf course. Details are available on the web. If you are into history there’s the Missiles and More Museum down island in Topsail Beach. The Poplar Grove Farmer’s Market is open from 8 AM to 1 PM Wednesdays only. You'll find lots of fresh produce, baked goods, organic products, and crafts. Also, Bannerman Vineyard and Winery is just a 30-minute drive away in Burgaw.

Still restless? Head for the Riverwalk in Wilmington about a 45 minute drive away. There you will find a plethora of restaurants and shops as well as the battleship USS North Carolina which you can tour. Cross the causeway and head south to historic Ft. Fisher where the largest land-sea battle of the Civil War was fought. It's also the site of North Carolina's award-winning aquarium. On your way back, check out Carolina Beach's seaside boardwalk complete with summer amusement rides.

It was perfect for our family. Very clean. Close to everything. Helpful owner. The only things that would make it better are a dishwasher (other than my kids) or a hot tub in the back. 😄. But seriously, this is a great place. I highly recommend it and we would definitely stay here again."
