Welcome to Adams Return. This is an authentic log cabin built BY HAND in 1890 and is #0001 on the Pitkin County Historic Inventory. The Log House radiates with warm, cozy charm. We believe the house was built here for one very important reason, WATER. On the south side of the property there is a natural spring fed pond full of BIG TROUT. there is also over 1000 feet of riverfront. CHARMING TWO BEDROOM ON THE ROARING FORK RIVER:

This home is surrounded by country and open views though not located far, just over a bridge, from the Intersection of HWY 82. The living room hosts a wonderful library of books, wood burning fireplace, 40" flat screen TV, and views. The TV, cable including premium channels, and I-net were upgraded in October 2020. The kitchen is fully stocked with an abundance of appliances, dishware and cook & bake ware including but not limited to microwave, toaster, single drink blender, drip & Keurig coffee pots, and crock pot. Separating the kitchen from the deck is a small dining room that seats up to 6. The deck over looks the river, has a café table and chairs set, umbrella, and propane grill. Master features King bed, Jacuzzi tub, flat screen TV, views, and sounds of the river. Guest bedroom features a double bed, a single bed, and 40" TV. Home sleeps 5. A pak'n'play, and baby gates are stored in the guest bedroom. The bathroom has a walk-in shower; the hall has mirrored and lighted vanity with a second sink and a laundry closet with washer and dryer. The home has hair dryer, iron & ironing board, vacuum, fans, humidifiers and supplies.

This two bedroom is the top floor of a tri-plex that has 2 great and helpful long-term renters in the units below. There is a community viewing area at the edge of the river. Above is a picnic area with charcoal BBQ, garden swing, and table & chairs. From the property one can fish or walk to other nearby fishing spots, access a put-in, or continue and follow the River Walk Trail to Basalt. Often numerous and colorful rafters and kayakers negotiate the river. The riders & guides know a section of the river, just beyond the home, as “Toothache”. Above the home is the Rio Grande Trail used by spurts of bike riders.

A gentle path at the far end of the Commons hooks up with the River Walk Trail to Basalt along the shore of the Roaring Fork River. There is a beach and put-in before the River Walk Trail leads west. Check out trails down the road. From the front door, go left up the road to the sign: Aspen Glen Open Space. Take a left off road, then another left into a little parking area by river. There are trails and one leads to an island in the river. There are many other places to access the river from the property or nearby for fishing. A book on fishing the Frying Pan and articles on fishing are provided. Hiking trail books are also available.

IMPORTANT NOTATION: The home was built circa late 50's. The complete renovation of the vacation rental was finished in 1988. Since then, there have been many upgrades especially to TVs, I-net, plumbing fixtures, amenities, furnishings, and bedding. It is an older property having the ambiance of a paneled drawing room and does not offer the minimalistic furnishing or ambience that has been trending in recent years - - though some current (2023) divestment and newer purchases are modernizing the look and utility. New pictures will be posted as more and more is modernized and the atmosphere takes on a new character. There are typically inherent flaws with older homes regardless that repair and maintenance is routinely done and upgrades are an on-going process. If you are expressly looking for a rental that is new and trending the minimalistic style, please find exactly what you want. It is my hope that all guests and vacationers have a great stay in our wonderful, enchanting valley and enjoy serenity as well as the outstanding adventures each season offers.

The Aspen/Snowmass area is 14 miles east and Old Town Basalt/Willits are 4 miles west from the intersection of HWY 82. Carbondale is about 12 miles west and Glenwood Springs another 20 miles. There is year round shopping, dining, recreation, historical sites, tours, and events in Aspen, Snowmass Village, Old Town Basalt, Willits, Carbondale, and Glenwood Springs. An expansive City Market and the new Whole Foods are at Willits. The RFTA buses stop at the HWY 82 intersection and travel both east and west.

Crossing the intersection of HWY 82 and continuing on Snowmass Creek Rd, takes one through Old Snowmass, up to Shield O Mesa, and to back roads to Snowmass Village. From the home and continuing East on Lower River Rd Woody Creek and the Woody Creek Tavern are 6 miles away.

The distance between Denver & Aspen is 198 miles. The estimated drive time is 3.5 hours. Please see driving instructions.

Free bus transportation stops immediately in front of the condo and is super easy to navigate. The 42 mile Santa Fe Bike Trail down the Roaring Fork from Aspen to Glenwood Springs, famous for its hot springs, also passes adjacent to the condo’s parking lot.
The notorious Woody Creek Tavern is only 3 miles down the road and worth the trip. Bring your cash as they do not take CC’s or checks!

Look up the schedule for Woody Creek. Our stop is River Bend. The shuttle will bring you to The Brush Creek Park and Ride, where you switch to a bus to Snowmass or Aspen.The stop in Aspen is Rubey Park Transit Center. An easy walk to the ski area.

- "Eileen’s condo is super clean and well stocked. Comfortable beds and furniture. Great location, halfway between slopes and Basalt. Good in Basalt is far less expensive than at Aspen or Snowmass. Will definitely stay here again." - "The property was perfect for our needs. There’s a groomed trail that runs right by the proper that was perfect for cross country skiing and walking. The bus stop is literally right out the door and takes you into Snowmass Village. To drive to Snowmass, it took us about 20 minutes and even after it snowed, we didn’t have any problems getting there without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Place is beautiful and the host was very responsive to our text inquiries. Highly recommend!"

This spacious newly renovated townhouse is centrally located between the towns of Aspen and Glenwood Springs near the Roaring Fork and Frying Pan Rivers in Basalt. Hiking and biking trails are steps from the door. The bus, which runs up and down the valley from Aspen to Glenwood Springs, stops only a quarter of a mile away! It is a short drive to the many skiing, fishing, golfing, biking, hiking, yoga, and other recreational resources in area.

On the main level is a spacious, fully & well-equipped kitchen. There are plenty of pots and pans, and handmade pottery for you to enjoy! The dining area has a table which expands to comfortably. The living room has a large, comfy couch for watching the 55” television with cable and Roku or listening to music with a blue tooth accessible speaker. There is a half bath on this level and two decks with views galore!

The lower level has a large bedroom with a new king size platform bed, a sitting area and a bathroom with a large walk-in shower. There is also an office with a desk and printer if you must do some work, and the laundry room has a washer, dryer, and storage for a pack and play, booster seat and a queen-size blow-up mattress.

Upstairs are 3 bedrooms. One features a new king size platform bed; one offers two twin beds and the other has a day bed with a pull-out bed. There is a bathroom with a combo tub shower.

Mountain Shadow Cottage is conveniently located just off of Highway 82 and within a five minute walk of the local bus route. It backs the Rio Grande Trail for walking, biking, and cross country skiing access right out the back door and is minutes away from the Gold Medal Waters of the Roaring Fork and Fryingpan Rivers. This cozy and bright farmhouse cottage is only a couple of miles south of historic Basalt where you will find shopping and dining options and only a short drive to Aspen, Snowmass Village, and Aspen Snowmass Ski Resort.

The home's open floor plan includes a kitchen and dining area, living room, bedroom, and bathroom with laundry. The well equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare a home cooked meal, and an electric grill is located on the front porch. The bedroom features a king bed, French doors that open to enjoy the fresh air and mountain views, and a writing desk. The living room includes a twin sized sofa sleeper for a third guest (best suited for a child), along with an electric fireplace and flat screen television. The bathroom has a walk in shower and doubles as the laundry area. Enjoy beautiful views from the quiet back deck or the covered front porch with private fenced front yard.

Dogs are welcome, and the fenced in front yard is theirs to enjoy! The back yard can be used to access the Rio Grande Trail (via the home's side gate) but otherwise is reserved for the owner's dog that lives next door.

This home includes off street parking for one vehicle. A second vehicle may park on the street.

PLEASE NOTE: Guests must walk through the bedroom to get to the bathroom; and this home is located approximately 500 feet from Highway 82 and, therefore, guests may hear some highway noise.

• A limited stock of basic guest supplies is provided to start off your stay, including coffee filters, non-dairy creamer, salt, pepper, cooking oil, sugar, food storage wrap, paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, trash bags, toilet paper, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and laundry detergent. At least one bath towel per guest is also provided.

- "The place is located in a very nice area. You need a car. Quick drives to Aspen, Carbondale, Basalt, Maroon Bells. The house has no air conditioning but since we did outings during, by the time we were back the temperatures were very nice. There is a nice patio with a view where we had breakfast in the morning and drinks in the eve. There was an issue with a funny smells coming from outside but owners took care of. This home was beautifully kept. It was 12 of us 6 were children age range from 14 years old to 1 year. The private mountain home offered a private ski, sled, or snowboarding hill. The hill was amazing for beginners and kid friendly, we were not expecting that tons of fun, The pantry was stocked with the basics seasoning, The wash room was stocked with all needed to wash your linen. Everything was clean to perfection. Aspen was literally 15 mins away. Snowmass village about 10. While staying there we learned Mariah Carey was the biggest star to stay in this home. She once even considered buying it and the master bedroom is her work of art. The host were very very accommodating."

Late check-outs affect housekeeping schedules and future guest reservations. In the event you stay beyond the original scheduled check-out time, you may incur a fee of up to $300.

It is a self-catering home, therefore, we do not refill any supplies during your stay. Each bathroom will have shampoo/conditioner, body wash, a single roll of toilet paper, and hand soap. In the laundry room we provide enough detergent pods for UP TO two (2) loads. In the kitchen, a paper towel roll, a couple of trash bags, dishwashing detergent, and sponge. There is a coffee maker, however coffee is not. Salt/pepper and cooking oil are available for use. If anything is missing, please let us know immediately upon check in so we can arrange restocking.

Conveniently located between Aspen and Basalt, and just three quarters of a mile off Highway 82, the 18-acre setting offers both privacy and serenity, yet affords easy access to the towns, ski mountains and premier fishing areas on the Roaring Fork and Frying Pan Rivers.

With three separate living areas, there is ample room for gathering as well as space for privacy. Two of the living areas, one upstairs and one downstairs, include a fireplace with gas logs and automatic starters. The additional living area is equipped with a large flat screen TV as well as abundant table space for games or puzzles. The spacious and well-equipped kitchen with adjoining bar and breakfast room offers yet another area to gather. Four of the five bedrooms are equipped with a king bed and every bedroom provides guests with blackout curtains for sufficient rest.

Many of the light switches are controlled by Lutron and are automatic for your convenience. The master bedroom’s blackout shades are controlled by Lutron as well.
