There is a true sense of community, and everyone looks out for each other; porch culture reigns supreme, families pushing strollers, and neighbors greeting each other with smiles are common sightings! Sherman Circle directly out the front door is where the neighborhood gathers for picnics, shaded walks/jogs, grassy playdates, and socializing. Traveling in town to visit your grandkids? - "We stayed at this property for an extended period of time, weeks. Honestly, we have not had the best experiences with another online rental app, and we were hesitant. Well, this calmed all of my fears! The location is exceptional, bus lines, bike rentals, and walkability. It was wonderful to have a full kitchen and full laundry. We had a few bumps in the road which were taken care if immediately. The host could not have been more responsive if they tried, bravo! Upon check in the interior is dark. We figured out all the lights, so no problem. I also really liked the fact that there were 2 exterior doors, front and back, allowing a safe fire exit. There is also a table in the front of the home, and we sat and had a glass of wine several times, talking to the neighbor about her beautiful garden. Would I stay here again? ABSOLUTELY!"

- "The apartment was updated and felt new. Very clean and comfortable. Big windows let in a lot of light and were perfect for people watching below, but also had fantastic blinds when we were ready for privacy. The location was about 1/4 mile walk from the Metro that took us where we needed to go. On the days we did rent a car, paid parking (free between 6:30pm to 7:00am) was easy to find, usually right outside our door. Everyone we needed to talk to in regards to our reservation we VERY helpful. Our original stay was set for the end of March. Due to Covid-19 and the shut downs, we pushed our stay out to the end of July. Everyone was so nice to work with and had no problems helping us change our dates."

Guests will have access to this entire 3-BR townhome, which comprises 4 floors including the basement and finished attic space. Guests are welcome to use the backyard as well as off-street parking that's available.
If accessing the attic, please be careful when pulling down the ladder. When climbing the ladder, be careful on the step with the hinge, as it can cause the ladder to move slightly, but don't worry, it is quite sturdy!

There are board games in the house, and books, guests can feel free to use these. We also have Cornhole boards which guest can use - they are located inside the shed underneath the back deck. Please put them back in there when finished using.

The Neighborhood:
The Petworth neighborhood is one with a strong sense of community. Petworth has what is known as a porch culture where residents stroll down streets and shout hello to their neighbors. It’s a community where residents support one another whether it’s borrowing sugar from your next-door neighbor or attending the free Petworth Jazz Project or the Celebrate Petworth Festival an event where it’s difficult to tell if the residents are neighbors or family.

Petworth Community Market is a popular social hub. Each Saturday from May to November, residents gather to support local farmers and artisans while stocking up on weekly groceries. Live music is played while neighbors visit, eat, and shop.

Just as recently as a decade ago it was uncommon to see a mother pushing a stroller. However, Petworth now is what can be considered a stroller city. The number of young professionals and families moving to Petworth has exceedingly increased over the past few years. Even more common now is the stroller-dog combination.

Another delightful feature of Petworth is what is referred to as “the block.” The block, located on Upshur Street between 8th Street SW and 9th Street NW, is a lively section of the neighborhood that includes eccentric furniture shops and vintage clothing boutiques along with Latin and Japanese inspired restaurants.

The large variety of ethnic restaurants in the neighborhood is unsurpassed. French, Ethiopian, Scandanavian, Korean, Italian, Indian, and numerous other cultures are represented in eateries throughout Petworth. Along with the diverse dining options, the diversity in residents comes in at the number three spot for the most diverse DC neighborhoods.

- "My family of adults and older teenagers stayed here while sightseeing in DC. The house is beautifully remodeled and exceptionally clean. There was plenty of room for everyone to sleep and spend time together. Its located in a very quiet neighborhood with great parking for 2 vehicles. The kitchen was large and lovely but was short on essential cooking items. - "We were allowed to check in early which worked well for us. Flooring was like wallpaper and coming off all over the downstairs. Kitchen had only 3 coffee cups and a tiny coffee maker. Upper cabinets are so high, there should be a step stool to reach dishes. One light in kitchen flickered the entire time the light was on. The water and ice maker in the refrigeration were not working, so no ice. Upstairs bathroom water pressure was very weak. Took 5 -10 minutes to get hot water in bathroom. Ceiling fans in the bedrooms have no controls, except the light switch. One bedroom fan was on full blast with no light. The other one was on and you could not turn off the light. Very annoying. I texted with the owner about the refrigerator and fans, but neither could be corrected while we were there. Towels were rather dingy and linens were well worn. gate to take the trash and recycle out was quite hard to open. Back yard was totally unkempt and stairs to go out there were rotting and getting dangerous. We would not stay there again."

It's just a few blocks to the Rock Creek Tennis Center, Golf Course, Horseback Riding Center and Rock Creek Park itself- a haven for running, hiking and exploring in the center of the city. It's also a quick uber or drive down to the National Mall, White House and other tourist attractions, plus it's very close to Chevy Chase, Silver Spring, Sibley Hospital, and 495.

Getting Around:
There is a bus stop just outside the home and goes straight down to tourist attractions and work centers in the heart of DC. In the mornings and afternoons the buses run every 10 minutes. Uber or Lyft is recommended for other locations, or you may park your own car behind the property too!

- "Location was excellent. Small space but sufficient. Loved the parking but a little tight for my SUV." - "Mainly 5 stars but want to elaborate on some of my 4 star rankings. There were some hiccups in the beginning but it wasn’t anyone’s fault. Due to 4pm check in, we had to wait to enter the property until after our event but the code didn’t work. I had to wake up the upstairs neighbors so that they could open the unit from the inside. I felt so bad because it was around midnight! David was super responsive and offered to let us leave our bags before 4 but we had made other arrangements. The door code thing was a big hassle but again, not really David’s fault and a replacement lock was ordered. The other slightly annoying thing was that the cleaning folks didn’t finish the laundry. It’s a washer/dryer combo and there was 2.5 hours still left on the cycle. I was eventually able to wash a few items of my own clothing but it definitely took a while! Lastly, the pictures in the listing made the space appear much bigger than it was. For my hubby and I, we had ample space. It was just a surprise when we got in and I felt like I should mention it. The cement stairs in the entrance are difficult to navigate in the dark. Though it seems like I am nitpicking / complaining, the space was super cool and exactly what we were looking for our weekend getaway to DC. I would recommend David’s place to others in a heartbeat!"
