Well, this calmed all of my fears! The location is exceptional, bus lines, bike rentals, and walkability. It was wonderful to have a full kitchen and full laundry. We had a few bumps in the road which were taken care if immediately. The host could not have been more responsive if they tried, bravo! Upon check in the interior is dark. We figured out all the lights, so no problem. I also really liked the fact that there were 2 exterior doors, front and back, allowing a safe fire exit. - "The apartment was updated and felt new. Very clean and comfortable. Big windows let in a lot of light and were perfect for people watching below, but also had fantastic blinds when we were ready for privacy. The location was about 1/4 mile walk from the Metro that took us where we needed to go. On the days we did rent a car, paid parking (free between 6:30pm to 7:00am) was easy to find, usually right outside our door. Everyone we needed to talk to in regards to our reservation we VERY helpful. Our original stay was set for the end of March. Due to Covid-19 and the shut downs, we pushed our stay out to the end of July. Everyone was so nice to work with and had no problems helping us change our dates."

Sixteenth Street Heights is one of Washington's most beautiful neighborhoods, with large homes and big, beautiful trees. It's just a few blocks to the Rock Creek Tennis Center, Golf Course, Horseback Riding Center and Rock Creek Park itself- a haven for running, hiking and exploring in the center of the city. It's also a quick uber or drive down to the National Mall, White House and other tourist attractions, plus it's very close to Chevy Chase, Silver Spring, Sibley Hospital, and 495.

Getting Around:
There is a bus stop just outside the home and goes straight down to tourist attractions and work centers in the heart of DC. In the mornings and afternoons the buses run every 10 minutes. Uber or Lyft is recommended for other locations, or you may park your own car behind the property too!

- "Location was excellent. Small space but sufficient. Loved the parking but a little tight for my SUV." - "Mainly 5 stars but want to elaborate on some of my 4 star rankings. There were some hiccups in the beginning but it wasn’t anyone’s fault. Due to 4pm check in, we had to wait to enter the property until after our event but the code didn’t work. I had to wake up the upstairs neighbors so that they could open the unit from the inside. I felt so bad because it was around midnight! David was super responsive and offered to let us leave our bags before 4 but we had made other arrangements. The door code thing was a big hassle but again, not really David’s fault and a replacement lock was ordered. The other slightly annoying thing was that the cleaning folks didn’t finish the laundry. It’s a washer/dryer combo and there was 2.5 hours still left on the cycle. I was eventually able to wash a few items of my own clothing but it definitely took a while! Lastly, the pictures in the listing made the space appear much bigger than it was. For my hubby and I, we had ample space. It was just a surprise when we got in and I felt like I should mention it. The cement stairs in the entrance are difficult to navigate in the dark. Though it seems like I am nitpicking / complaining, the space was super cool and exactly what we were looking for our weekend getaway to DC. I would recommend David’s place to others in a heartbeat!"

2. Pets must be preapproved. Limit 2 pets. Dogs must be leashed at all times when outside of the apartment. No aggressive breeds allowed.
3. No parties. A couple of daytime visitors are ok. All overnight guests must be approved in advance.
4. The TV has a FireStick (so you can stream content in 4K) but there is not cable or satellite in the unit. You need to use your own account for subscription services (Netflix, Prime, Disney+ etc) to watch TV. Instructions for the FireStick are next to the TV.
5. We are set up as a furnished apartment, not a hotel. We provide coffee, soap, detergent, paper products, etc. for the first week, but after that we expect you to refill consumables like you would at home.
6. We use professional maids to clean and launder everything between guests. If there is something they overlooked, please let us know so we can add it to their checklist.
7. The coffee maker is a Nespresso Vertuo system; pods are available online or at Target. There is also a French press.

The apartment has its own private entrance, and we are happy to respect your privacy. You will have flexible arrival and departure to and from your apartment with our electronic keypad entry.

Location/Transportation
We are centrally located in the D.C. - Maryland metro area and our neighborhood offer several transportation options!
♦ Access to DC: Downtown DC/Capitol Hill is 30 minutes away by public transportation (25 minutes by car off-peak) to downtown.
♦ Access to Baltimore/DC: With easy access to I-495 and I-95, we are 45 minutes by car to downtown Baltimore or Annapolis.
♦ Metro/Subway Rail: Both Takoma and Silver Spring metro stations are 2 miles away.
♦ Buses: Metro bus stops are located just 2 blocks away.
♦ Parking: Ample parking can be found in front of the house on the street.
♦ Bicycles: There is a Capital Bikeshare station ½ miles from the house.
♦ Outdoor Spaces: Our house is located on a tree-lined residential street in the Takoma Park neighborhood adjacent to the gorgeous and well-kept 9-mile Sligo Creek trail as well as the smaller Long Branch trail system and playgrounds. The scenic Sligo Creek roadway is closed each weekend, Friday – Sunday, for use by pedestrians and cyclists only!
♦ Eateries: Like good food? In this multicultural hotspot you will find Italian, Ethiopian, Salvadorean, Middle Eastern, Vegan, Mexican, American, and more nearby. We are within a mile of several restaurants (many locally owned), grocery stores, recreation center and library. Minutes (by car or bus) to both historic downtown Takoma Park and downtown Silver Spring. Downtown Takoma Park offers fun, eclectic restaurants and shops. Silver Spring offers an array of shopping venues, restaurants, pubs, movie theaters and music.

Unfortunately, pet accommodations are not available.
This is a basement apartment, and we have a 2-year-old son who is out of the house Monday-Friday from 9AM – 5PM. Although we installed sound proofing between the units, you may occasionally hear him otherwise. Fortunately for us, he is a late sleeper and never up before 8AM. Overnight and early mornings are very quiet.
COVID 19: For your complete peace of mind, the home is professionally cleaned and disinfected between stays using CDC recommended products and safety equipment.

Cleaning Policy:
Please note that for any stay greater than 14 days, a bi-weekly unit cleaning will be added to the stay. Each cleaning will cost the guests $50 per session to be paid in advance once your stay is confirmed. This is to ensure all guests have a comfortable long term stay with us.
