You will have a private entrance to 2 adjacent upstairs bedrooms & large bathroom, big screen TV, AppleTV, hi-speed WiFi, microwave, mini-fridge, Keurig, coffee-maker, spring water cooler & more. Off-street car parking is on the House's private circular driveway. Enjoy the House's park-like setting. Perfect for singles, couples or families visiting family/friends or working in Bethesda/DC.

Notes: (1) The quoted nightly rate is for up to 4 adults or 2 adults and up to 4 children under 18. You have a separate entrance to your private space, which consists of 2 adjacent bedrooms with 4 beds & a large en suite bathroom with both a shower and bathtub/shower combo. Bedroom 1 has a king-size bed and a daybed/trundle that converts to a twin bed. Bedroom 2 has a king-size bed and a twin bed. If requested, we can move the twin out of Bedroom 2 and relocate the table and chairs into the room.

Both bedrooms have door locks from the inside, ample closet space, luggage racks, ceiling fan/lights with remote control and alarm clocks. Bedroom 2 is suitable for working remotely with its desk. The apartment has very high speed WiFi (>400 Mbps download & >200 upload speeds).

There is an Ecobee temperature sensor in Bedroom 1 and guests can control the temperature in the space through the downloaded Ecobee app.

The large en suite bathroom has both a shower and bathtub/shower combo. Guests in both bedrooms have private access to the bathroom either through the walk-in closet that connects to Bedroom 1 (through two sets of doors) or from the hallway. Both of the bathroom's doors are lockable from the inside.

Towel refreshment is available during your stay. In addition, Guests can make arrangements with our live-in housekeeper for overnight laundry service ($40 minimum).

Guests have access weather permitting to the House's private tennis court. Owner can provide tennis racquets and balls upon request. The tennis court patio is available for guest use as well. Coolers and a Solo Stove fire pit are available for guest use upon request. Log bundles can be purchased at the nearby Giant Food in the Westwood Shopping Center.

Braeburn House is a perfect location for guests working in the Bethesda area, visiting family or wishing to explore the DMV (DC, MD, VA). The surrounding Bannockburn neighborhood is very walkable and safe. Our House is the first house on the left of Braeburn Parkway, which is a quiet and heavily treed cul-de-sac just off of Pyle and River Roads. From the 495 Beltway, Guests will take the River Road (MD 190) South exit for 1.5 miles and turn right on Braeburn Parkway. There is a turning lane onto Braeburn Parkway from River Road.

We are located inside the Beltway in Bethesda just off River Road (MD 190) near to Walt Whitman High School, Landon School and Holton Arms School. Our location provides easy access via your car or Uber/Lyft to many excellent restaurants & shops in downtown Bethesda, Cabin John, Potomac, Glen Echo, Chevy Chase, Washington, DC and Northern Virginia. It’s only 8 minutes by car to the Bethesda Metro or Friendship Heights Metro stations (both on the Red Line) for a 30 minute train ride to downtown Washington, DC. There is ample indoor parking adjacent to the Metro Stations. Uber/Lyft to the Bethesda or Friendship Heights Metro Stations is approximately $10.

The Pyle Road/River Road WMATA T2 bus stop is around the corner from the house (3-4 min walk). The T2 bus will take you to the Friendship Heights Metro Station as well as the shopping mall and restaurants. From Friendship Heights you can take the Metro train south to DC or north to downtown Bethesda (1 stop). We provide a hard copy of the WMATA T2 bus schedule and an empty Metro card that you can use and refill when you take the bus or the Metro train.

You can take the T2 bus in the other direction (north) up River Road to Potomac Village and its shops and restaurants. The T2 bus line ends at Rockville Metro Station (also on the Red line). If you feel like a quick work out, there are free weights and yoga mats at your disposal. Kayakers, we have room to store your kayaks in the back yard. We respect your need for quiet and do our best to tip toe around upstairs especially between 8:30pm and 6:30am. Expect an apartment style amount of sound to carry down to you at other times.

The washer and dryer that we will share is in the basement. We will respect your privacy and always ask instead of assume that we can come down and use it during your stay.
We know that many individuals have multiple chemical sensitivities and do our best to use aldehyde free products. However, every now and then there is a sale on a favorite fragrant shampoo of mine and I put it in the basement shower. Please lmk if you do have allergies and I will remove it.
To respect the needs of everyone who stays with us, please avoid smoking on the property and using fragrances.

This spacious apartment in Bethesda sleeps eight and is centrally located, close to everything that the Washington area has to offer. We are close to the National Mall, downtown Bethesda and the Metro, public bus stops, Georgetown University, Tyson’s Corner shopping mall, and the scenic beauty of Great Falls. We are across the street from the entrance to the Potomac River and the C&O Canal’s towpath, where you can go for hikes and bike along the water. We offer guests a bike rack filled with 6 bikes at your disposal. The towpath/bike path is 250 miles of Federal park land that will take you all over the Washington area and will connect you to downtown DC, downtown Bethesda, and scenic destinations like Mount Vernon. We are a ten-minute walk to the Irish Inn and the Glen Echo National Park where activities might include festivals, art shows, children’s theater, a merry-go-round, and weekend ballroom dancing.
The newly renovated apartment is on the ground floor of our single-family home and sits on ¾ acre lot surrounded by trees and overlooking a garden and pond. It has its own private entrance, and free private parking for two cars. There are two bedrooms - the master bedroom has a king bed and the second bedroom has two queen beds and a 43 inch TV. There also is a pull-out couch in the living room that provides additional sleeping options. The kitchen features brand-new appliances and a large table that seats eight. There is a separate washer/dryer, and a modern, updated bathroom. The separate living area is bathed in light from large picture windows, and where you can relax and watch television on the 65-inch smart TV.

We especially loved having the canal so close by for daily walks. The house is set back into a hillside which features a little enclave of similar modern homes. At night it feels like a secret wonderland. We highly recommend Liz and John’s place for anyone new to the area or needing an in town get away for a short or long day."

Also the bleach smell from cleaning was a little overwhelming and I could have used a candle to mask the smell but was afraid to light it in fear of the smoke fee. Although this room is quiet and has great light, it is not fancy. The layout of the apartment (a long hall with rooms off the sides) is conducive to privacy, and we are mindful of that. Likewise, the bathroom, though shared, is huge, with separate shelf space for everyone, and we keep it clean.

This space is best for a working professional or couple who will be out during the day, OR a very easy going person that doesn't mind the everyday noises or occasional contact outdoors with the host family. Guests will see little children playing in the yard. If you plan to spend significant time at the apartment, please be aware that day-to-day family activities will be happening around you.

There is a SMALL couch- it is not big enough for an adult to sleep on comfortable.

This may NOT be the best place for you if:
-You are a light or sensitive sleeper
-Plan to sleep in past 7am (end of quiet hours). As the unit is below our kitchen, guests should be prepared to hear footsteps above. If you plan to be awake by 7/7:30, then there should be no issues.
-Have a DOG ALLERGY. This unit is pet friendly- even after cleaning, irritants can sometimes remain.
-You like very specific temperatures (i.e. very warm in winter and very cool in summer) and prefer individual climate control . The A/C and heat are controlled on the main level of our home, and thus you will need to ask us to adjust it (which we are happy to do within reasonable temperatures for the season). We offer a fan in the summer and heater in the winter for guests' customization.

Pets and respectful dog owners are welcome. We require guests bring blankets to cover the couch and bed. Please include your pet(s) on the reservation.

The fenced yard backs up to a private wooded area. Surrounding neighbors are quiet and respectful.

This unit is in the basement of our 3-level home and runs naturally cooler all year than any other floor of the home.

The THERMOSTAT is located on the MAIN LEVEL of our home, and guests can request us to make slight adjustments if uncomfortable. We provide a fan for the summer and heater and blankets for the winter, for guests to customize the basement temperatures. We keep our home at a very reasonable temperature of 68-70 in winter and 72 in summer.

If you have specific preferences for a VERY COOL space in summer or VERY WARM space in winter, we recommend you book a place where you have full control over the temperatures.

HEAT IN THE WINTER: The unit has one heater (and 3-4 extra blankets) and can only power that heater. The single heater is appropriate for the square footage. Some guests are very sensitive to cold. If this describes you, then this place is probably not a good fit for you from November - March.

Small, modern, and perfectly functional European-style apartment with private entrance in a nice, quiet and cozy neighborhood in Bethesda, MD. Our place is close to Navy Hospital, NIH and Walter Reed Hospital, all connected via public transportation. The Metro station is within 1 mile, as well as groceries and shops. Ideal for solo or business travelers, this independent apartment has everything you need. But most importantly, this petite apartment has character, oh, and we're nice folks too :-)

Small, modern, and perfectly functional European-style apartment with private entrance in a nice, quiet and cozy neighborhood in Bethesda, MD. Less than a mile away from Grosvenor metro stop on Washington, DC red metro line. It is located 1.5 miles from NIH and within 20 minutes from Downtown DC and most National Monuments.

It includes all cooking utensils, bedding and lines and a queen-size platform bed. It is just 0.8 miles from the nearest grocery store (Balducci's, a gourmet food market), and there is ample street parking. It has a 32 inch led HDTV with regular OTA (over-the-air) signal (no cable), high speed wired and wireless internet, and a PC connected to the TV so you can watch Netflix, Youtube, Hulu, or simply navigate online.

The small place is ideal for one or maybe two people coming to spend a few days in the DC area, to a conference at NIH, or Walter Reed Hospital. There is a washer and drier on the premises, free of charge upon request.

I work from home, so I can make sure to be in the attached home should you have any questions about your stay. Depending on the time you arrive or leave, I will be glad to pick you up from or drop you off to the metro station.

We are more interested in hosting interesting and compatible people than making a few extra dollars. This is why we usually request for you to tell us a little about yourself before we accept a booking request, especially if you have no or few reviews. Our primary purpose for opening up our private, attached home apartment to you is to get to know you, not to become rich. We hope you understand.

Guest access
It is an apartment with its own private entrance. You will receive one or two keys to access the place and you're welcome to come and go at will. If coming home late, please be considerate to our neighbors by keeping the noise level down.

There is also a laundry room in our attached home (not in the apartment) which you can use. No problem sharing it, but please let us know beforehand that you intend to use it.

And you're also welcome to make use of the backyard and terrace, including the gas grill.

Q: Can I use your laundry facilities?
A: Absolutely. You may use our washer and dryer by simply asking. We usually do laundry on weekends, but we can accommodate if necessary.

Q: What if I need help or something does not work?
A: We live on the same single-family unit, so I can attend to any requests you may have. The best way to communicate with me is via text messages, or knocking on our door :-)

Q: This place is small!
A: Well, that wasn't a question, was it? But yes, the apartment is rather small, hence we believe that it is ideal for one person, possibly two if using it for a short period of time. It does have just about everything you'll need (and if not, please let us know). If you feel claustrophobic, you're welcome to use our backyard, and of course, there is a park across the street and the neighborhood is safe to walk and explore. But please, be aware that it is a confined apartment, about the size of an upgraded hotel room but with a full (yet small) kitchen.

Q: Will I be by myself?
A: If you feel lonely, come over and visit :-) But if you prefer to be left alone, we won't bother you. Good communication enable us to understand each other.

Q: What if I need suggestions to see the town or go out to dinner?
A: We'll be happy to help. Just ask. We're really nice people :-)

Q: Will your dogs have access to the apartment?
A: No, they are very well behaved and they have been educated to respect your place. However, they are extremely nice, so you're welcome to pad them and say hello whenever you want to.

Q: Will I hear noises coming from your home?
A: That's possible, but we're a childless middle-aged couple who are very mindful that you need rest and privacy. However, you may hear the occasional dog bark or our steps going up the stairs. It is impossible to make a room entire sound-proof. If you feel that we're impeding your rest, please let us know. Remember, communication is king.


Q. You have a small cleaning fee, can I expect the place to be clean?
A. Absolutely! In fact, Toni, our wonderful cleaning lady since 1998, will tidy up your place every Wednesday (even if you arrive on a Tuesday or stay for weeks). Feel free to say hello to her, and if you're so inclined, she would be most appreciative of a small tip. Our fee is symbolic, since most guests here tend to stay more than a week, and yet, Toni will punctually do her work every Wednesday. We just like to keep our home neat, guests or not :-)

Q. What's the deal with you being a Superhost?
A. Well then, since you ask...I'm a Superhost because we're relaxed about our guests despite us having full-time jobs of our own. However, I've come to be rather fond of that "title," and I don't appreciate when a guest leaves a review saying that the metro stop was too far away, or that the place was too small. If a guest does not read the detailed description where I specify the exact distance to places, or the emphasis on the small apartment, or whatever, then their reviews should be kinder. I truly enjoy 5-star reviews. If there's something you do not like while here, I beg you to let me know and I promise to do what I can to revert your perspective. Again, communication is king.
