Fishing is also possible and there are boat hire facilities in Ferreira do Zêzêre, approximately 20 min by car.

Cycling: The Ribatejo countryside is unexplored and there are plenty of tracks you can follow. There are two bicycles in the garage that are freely available for guests' use. It's an ideal way of exploring the countryside. And if you get lost don¡t worry all roads lead to a café.

Sightseeing: Tomar, the historical town of the Order of the Templars is a short drive away. The Convent of Christ on the hilltop is a must. The Sanctuary of Fátima, holy place of pilgrimage is around 30km away. Castelo de Almoural, set on a tiny island of the Tagus was built as a fortress in 1171. Lovely spot for a picnic.
Torres Novas has many fine churches within its castle walls.
There are many small villages around the lake that are worth visiting such as Dornes, a UNESCO protected village and Constância, right on the banks of the River Tagus.

The house is very large, very clean and perfectly equipped. Including so much brandnew Bathrooms and well working showers for the whole family ! Extraordinary too, that all windows and doors could be closed with fly screens. On the top the large private clean pool. With the location between the highway and country road, it was for us the ideal starting point for our tours in the country or to the famous beaches between Peniche and Figueira da Foz (about 60-80min). "Heaven is a place on Earth" is a secluded cottage in a heavenly setting, with private waterfront at Castelo de Bode Lake in Central Portugal. Refúgio do Carrascal is a family project made up of two independent bungalows that are located on a private property, cohabiting with our house.
Each bungalow is a wooden cabin, open space style, with a living room, double bed on a mezzanine (access via stairs), a sofa bed, bathroom, kitchenette equipped with basic utensils for preparing breakfast or small dining and outside there is a balcony overlooking the land. Located in a small forest with Mediterranean characteristics, with all its imperfect beauty, it is a rural space with no commerce in the surroundings, but it is only a 5 minute drive from the city of Tomar (or around 1 hour walk along nature paths). Tomar, a city enriched by its imposing Convent of Christ and Castle flanked by the Sete Montes National Forest and with a beautiful historic center, with monuments, churches, the river and gardens. The river beaches are also a reference in this region in the summer.
We want to provide a stay full of well-being close to nature and simultaneously close to the city.

The chalet is part of a rural Villa, very close to the mystical and historical city of Tomar (12 km), the seat of Templars in Portugal.
The apartment has two rooms, one with a double bed, and another one with two double beds. Both rooms have private bathroom full equiped.
