Lynden is a historic cottage conveniently located in the centre of Trentham. It provides a perfect location for couples or families seeking a quiet weekend away or a relaxing holiday. Set among other traditional weatherboard homes in one of Trentham’s more historic streets, Lynden Cottage is a 3 minute walk from the town centre, while also being in easy walking distance of the beautiful Wombat State Forest.
Lynden Cottage was built in 1884, and has been fully renovated with polished floors, while trying to maintain its original charm. A modern kitchen provides all modern features, including dishwasher and microwave oven, along with a beautiful baltic pine table that seats 10. There are three bedrooms able to accommodate 7 people, one with a king size bed, another with a queen size bed (and TV), and the third with a bunk bed and a single bed. All beds have electric blankets. There is a washing machine and the house is set on a large half acre block. A restored miner's shack dating back to the 1860s is just behind the cottage and is available to guests.
We are pet friendly. The yard is fully fenced and secure. You are welcome to bring your dog inside, but we do ask that you do not bring them into the bedrooms, or allow them on the furniture. Located just over 200m from historic Trentham's main streets. The house was built around the turn of last century and originally used as a 'lying-in' maternity hospital before the local hospital was built in the 1930s. This beautiful piece of Trentham's history has been restored and updated with lots of modern features including a coffee machine and grinder for the home barista, unlimited NBN and 2 wood burning fires for cosy winter nights.
On arrival you enter into the first of two large living rooms with wood fire, split system with heating and cooling and sofas for curling up on to watch tv. The living room also has a desk to allow you to work from home during the week.
When it comes time for sleeping there are three bedrooms, 2 with comfortable queen size beds, while the third bedroom has 2 single beds and a second desk to allow for a second person to work from home. The bedrooms are all close to the luxurious central bathroom with rain shower over the bath. There is a seperate powder room and an internal laundry.
The kitchen comes well equipped with everything for cooking up some local produce, make sure you add some fresh herbs from the garden.
The large light filled room at the back of the house has a second wood fire to keep you toasty warm, a custom built dining table, reading nook and sofa for watching the day go by. A second split system in this living room provides extra heating and cooling.
French doors from the back living room open onto a north facing deck, great for your morning coffee or pre dinner cocktails on hot summer nights. Directly off the kitchen there is a second larger entertaining deck with an outdoor table to enjoy meals with family and friends, gas bbq and a hammock for reading or just sleeping under the tree.
The shed is set up for a game of table tennis or locking your bike overnight before venturing out on the local trails the next morning. The rambling rear garden has an outdoor fire pit and is fully fenced if you would like to bring your dog on holidays too.

Leave your car parked under the big shady tree and just wander out the front gate. Within a couple of minutes you have the choice of a wide variety of local eateries, galleries and interesting shops to explore along High Street and Market Street. We think you will enjoy your stay so much we have a minimum 2 night stay and 3+ nights for long weekends. Dog owners may like to note that part of the perimeter fencing includes a shorter picket fence across the front.

So comfortable, with absolutely everything we needed. Even the fires were set, which was a treat in the heart of winter." - "We love this stay when holidaying in central Victoria with our fur kid. So hard to find a clean and contemporary place to stay when travelling with a dog and this little house ticks all the boxes for an enjoyable few days every time. Close to town shops and supplies with plenty of room to stretch out, clean and comfortable with a lovely big securely fenced back yard that our dog can explore and enjoy. Trentham Village
Trentham lies at the heart of the Macedon Ranges, one of Victoria's most popular, vibrant and beautiful regional destinations and is only an hour's drive northwest from Melbourne airport. At 700 metres, it sits atop the Great Dividing Range, surrounded by the majestic trees of the Wombat State Forest. In winter it's often dusted by snow, while in summer it stays lush and green long after neighbouring regions dry out. It sits within the volcanic belt and the rich red soil combined with the highest rainfall in Victoria makes it a gardener's paradise.
Trentham isn't just about good food and boutique stores. It makes a great base for exploring neighbouring towns and attractions. Only short drives away are the hotspots of Daylesford, Kyneton and Woodend. Daylesford is home to the highest concentration of natural mineral springs in Australia and many visitors choose from an array of spa and wellbeing experiences to rejuvenate in these magical waters. Trentham is centrally located between the larger, historic regional centres of Ballarat and Bendigo. Smaller towns of Castlemaine, Maldon, Malmsbury and Glenlyon are well worth a visit.

Once you've unwound you may be drawn down the peaceful, tree-lined country lane, through the park and over a quaint footbridge to what at first seems like a sleepy village. As you step into the main street you'll soon realise that the faded old shop fronts house some astonishing and diverse businesses. There are top class dining and coffee places, artisan produce, a farmers' market, galleries, boutique nurseries, antiques and unusual wares. Trentham is an old town with great historic character, but enough going on to satisfy the most discriminating visitor.
- "on arrival we found it confusing which entrance and which key safe to open as each was different, each door side by side and no simple sign to make it absolutely clear. the correct safe was very puzzling as to how to open the cover, as i didnt want to force anything. to confuse things, an electronic device beside it which operates the blinds remotely but having never seen this before wondered also if this was somehow related to the key safe. once the safe cover was open all quickly became commonsense and we were soon into our apartment. the owners had preheated the space and being 6 degrees outside was such a delight to get in. i seem to recall seeing 32 on the controller. cosy as. first impression was gorgeous. couldn't believe how well appointed the spaces were with more than fully stocked fridge and pantry drawer for our two day's needs. the grounds were beautiful, and the lake view a quiet and serene vista to greet the eye when stepping out. seems ducks and other feathered friends like the front lawn too as they were ever present. not much more to add to sleeping and showering as we spent most of the time out. I always say presentation is king and you well and truly made the grade. car parking is opposite the property."

We offer private, modern, comfortable accommodation within our home, set amid a sprawling grassed meadow and a productive veggie garden out the back. A pleasant 10 minute wander into town, ‘a'meadow’ is shared by two Blue Burmese cats, twin girls Taffeta & Chiffon, who keep mainly to themselves, and don’t much care for dogs.
Enter through an external walk-way to a light-filled lounge-dining area with kitchenette equipped with coffee machine, microwave, toaster &c.. Breakfast includes cereals , real bread from Trentham’s famous Red Beard Bakery with home-made jams.
The queen-sized bedroom has a wardrobe & adjacent bathroom. Also, smart TV, Wi-Fi, electric blanket, ducted heating, books and magazines plus sensor lighting for late-night homecomings.
Our garden is your garden to wander at will, with a glass of wine or not, or just to sit amidst the mutterings of the birds.
Coming from careers in hospitality, we love our life here, and we love looking after those that visit. Trentham, proclaimed 1867, is a gorgeous little town of warmth and kindness, amongst a caring community, well-connected to its historic roots.
We hope you will like it too.
Warmly
Sylvia & Michael.

Welcome to Bramasole - It’s English translation is “Yearning for the Sun”. A gorgeous little cottage in the picturesque town of Trentham. Set in the Highlands of Victoria.
The cottage is set amongst an established garden and set on half an acre. Bramasole is my country home, my retreat to relax and unwind and I am opening it up for others to experience the peace and tranquility of My Country Home.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could want (baking is my therapy), so please enjoy the welcoming ‘homey’ decor.
The whole property is yours to enjoy! There is a fire pit area for you to enjoy a night outside under the stars with a few marshmallows. Firewood is sold just down the road at the IGA.
There is also a BBQ with gas bottle you are welcome to use.
Other things to note
Daylesford is only an 18 min drive (approx).
Lavendula is just past Daylesford which is a beautiful historical Homestead, Cafe and Gardens.
- "We loved our stay in Trentham - beautiful property and stunning views. We hope to be back" - "We had an amazing stay in the centre of the old town close to everything and very quite Loved the opening roof in the loft bedroom" - "The Tuscan promotion is no idle exaggeration in terms of interior decorating and exterior, sculpted hedges... Tuscany with views of kangaroos. Well-appointed and equipped kitchen and lounge area, good local provisions, galleries and shopping close by. A heater in the shower area would be useful but great hot water system. Easy access and thoughtful host. I enjoyed my stay."
