Located just over 200m from historic Trentham's main streets. The house was built around the turn of last century and originally used as a 'lying-in' maternity hospital before the local hospital was built in the 1930s. This beautiful piece of Trentham's history has been restored and updated with lots of modern features including a coffee machine and grinder for the home barista, unlimited NBN and 2 wood burning fires for cosy winter nights.
On arrival you enter into the first of two large living rooms with wood fire, split system with heating and cooling and sofas for curling up on to watch tv. The living room also has a desk to allow you to work from home during the week.
When it comes time for sleeping there are three bedrooms, 2 with comfortable queen size beds, while the third bedroom has 2 single beds and a second desk to allow for a second person to work from home. The bedrooms are all close to the luxurious central bathroom with rain shower over the bath. There is a seperate powder room and an internal laundry.
The kitchen comes well equipped with everything for cooking up some local produce, make sure you add some fresh herbs from the garden.
The large light filled room at the back of the house has a second wood fire to keep you toasty warm, a custom built dining table, reading nook and sofa for watching the day go by. A second split system in this living room provides extra heating and cooling.
French doors from the back living room open onto a north facing deck, great for your morning coffee or pre dinner cocktails on hot summer nights. Directly off the kitchen there is a second larger entertaining deck with an outdoor table to enjoy meals with family and friends, gas bbq and a hammock for reading or just sleeping under the tree.
The shed is set up for a game of table tennis or locking your bike overnight before venturing out on the local trails the next morning. The rambling rear garden has an outdoor fire pit and is fully fenced if you would like to bring your dog on holidays too.
Trentham has the honour of being Australia's Top Tiny Tourism Town for 2025. Come and enjoy all that this beautiful town has to offer. Leave your car parked under the big shady tree and just wander out the front gate. Within a couple of minutes you have the choice of a wide variety of local eateries, galleries and interesting shops to explore along High Street and Market Street. It is an easy stroll back to the house after a meal at Du Fermier or any of the other great places to dine.
Take a drive to view Trentham Falls or explore the lush Wombat State Forest. Browse markets which are held every weekend in the region or explore the regions surrounding wineries and spa country. Daylesford, Kyneton and Woodend are all only a scenic 20 minute drive away.
We think you will enjoy your stay so much we have a minimum 2 night stay and 3+ nights for long weekends. Dog owners may like to note that part of the perimeter fencing includes a shorter picket fence across the front.

So hard to find a clean and contemporary place to stay when travelling with a dog and this little house ticks all the boxes for an enjoyable few days every time. Close to town shops and supplies with plenty of room to stretch out, clean and comfortable with a lovely big securely fenced back yard that our dog can explore and enjoy. ~Why you will LOVE Trentham~
For a tiny town, Trentham packs a punch. Not just what it is famous for – but for its lesser-known gems too. A quaint village retaining many historic buildings and a charming streetscape also boasts drop-dead pretty gardens and shady tree-lined streets.
Situated an hour from Melbourne, and just a short drive from Woodend, Daylesford and Kyneton, Trentham boasts some of Central Victoria’s most exciting foodie destinations. From Annie Smithers’ award-winning French farmhouse restaurant Du Fermier, to the historic Red Beard Bakery turning out award-winning sourdough breads. You can wander the street and enjoy cuisine from casual to elegant, in front of open fires in winter or under a canopy of trees in the magnificent beer garden of the Cosmopolitan Hotel in the warmer months. Come in Winter and you might just be lucky enough to be here when the marvellous truffle season fleetingly appears and go scouting the truffière for these magical underground treasures.
To work up an appetite, or work off the previous days indulgences, a trip would not be complete without a visit to Trentham Falls, Victoria’s highest single-drop waterfall, and just a 5 minute drive from Woodlands.
If you’re up for a more energetic adventure, the region boasts some of the best forest tracks that can be enjoyed on foot, on bike or even horseback. One of our favourites is the picturesque Domino Trail. The walk from Trentham that ends at the Radio Springs Hotel in nearby Lyonville. Or stay closer to home and embark on the Wombat Trail.
Trentham is a lovely country village filled with character, interesting stores, gorgeous gardens. A ‘foodies’ delight, it is the perfect place to linger and unwind 🤍
