And our room was not cooling either and they could not fix either of those issues. it was surprisingly to me because no one seems to be checking if gadgets are working in the room after a person checks out. They took my clothes to dry in their dryer and gave us back wet clothes. And then I had to iron the clothes to get them to dry. Overall, not a very good experience. Frankly I cannot justify the price for the issues we faced. Go somewhere else if there is availability."

They're big, comfortable, well-equipped (in-unit laundry, espresso machine, big fridge, dishwasher, etc!), across the street from a great supermarket, and managed by the hotel within a minute walking distance (so you have 24hour access to staff if needed). The restaurant in the hotel is very good and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The area is great, and so many improvements things too! It's within walking distance from several easy hikes, across the street from an Icewear outlet, a new supermarket, a black sand beach, and several new restaurants (a burger/bar, a yummy Vietnamese stir-fry place, a good breakfast pastry place, the hotel's restaurant), and beautiful views. This is a great and comfortable place to stay at. There are a few kinks they need to work out: we never got any check-in info and the hotel staff had never heard of VRBO, even though our reservation was in their system. Luckily, we guessed right that we should go to the hotel to check in, but it wasn't exactly obvious. And another small complaint was that the floor in the flat, well, it needed a little bit of sweeping or vacuuming. Everything else was very clean and spotless, but there was hair in the corners on the floor in the bedroom. That feels almost like a one-time thing though, because everything else (bathroom, counters, etc) were spotless. Yes there were hiccups, but they were totally minor, I would totally stay here again, I highly recommend it."

The apartment was clean, neat, quiet, and well suited for one or two people (I was solo.) Sitting about 8 miles west of Vik there was a great view of the ocean whcih was several miles away. The owners stopped by a few times to see if I needed anything--I didn't but appreciated their attention. The kitchenette was fine for me but I would recommend the owners put in a microwave to warm up prepared foods from the nearby grocery store. There is a two-burner stove top, which I didn't use, an electric kettle, a toaster, and a coffee maker and of course a small refrigerator. There is a dishwasher but I didn't use it. The bathroom has a heated floor which was quite nice on cool mornings. Overall, I give it 4/4 stars and if I'm in the Vik area again, I would definitely stay here."

- "The location of this house is outstanding! You can see the beach, a glacier and wild horses all from one room. The house was extremely clean and well equipped. Check in was a breeze. I reached out to the host, who responded by canceling our reservation. He said he wasn't able to get the cleaning done and wasn’t in the area. There we were 3 hours in the middle of nowhere and no place to stay. I pleaded with him. He was cort and said he had meant to cancel us earlier but had forgotten. We were left completely high and dry. Furthermore, the host did not offer any consideration or let alone any assistance finding a place to stay. Our family of 4 was left to fend for ourselves at 5:00 pm on a Friday night in the middle of a remote foreign town. I spoke with VRBO and they promised to fully investigate. They also helped us find the only hotel with some availability for the first night. After that we were on our own. In addition, I requested a refund and received notification that about 80% of what we paid was being refunded. I am still trying to track down the balance. The lack of empathy and care from the host was mind boggling. He was either completely scamming or he just didn’t give a crap. Either way, Don't book this home. Worst experience ever."
