We consider our location and stunning views of the sea and mountains to be some of the finest in West Cork.

Stone steps from the garden sea wall lead straight onto a slate/shingle beach. Many claim to be waterfront but we really are the real deal!

The friendly and lively village of Durrus is within walking distance (1.5km), where there are three pubs, a pizzeria, a grocery shop, a post office and a charity shop.

The Mizen peninsula's sandy beaches, including Barley Cove’s beautiful Blue Flag beach, are just a short drive away and the Sheep's Head peninsula with the Goat's Path is famous for having many miles of scenic and rugged walks.

There are numerous marked walks on both peninsulas to suit all abilities.

The historic waterside and market town of Bantry, which boasts a brand new marina, is approximately 8 kilometres away.

The house is spacious and very well equipped. The layout is perfect for families or groups sharing.

It has five beautifully appointed bedrooms, consisting of three double bedrooms rooms all looking out over the bay (each with a king-size bed), one has an en-suite bathroom with bath, power shower and WC.

There are two twin bedrooms (located at the rear of the house) and two further bathrooms, each with a separate bath, a power shower and WC.

All bed linen is pure cotton and all of the bedding and pillows are of top quality. We provide bath towels, hand towels and face cloths for all guests. Beach towels are also provided for each guest.

For the younger members of the family, there is a travel cot, a high chair, a "Stocke" dining chair and a baby bath.

The living area consists of a generous open plan sitting room/dining room & kitchen.

There is an American style fridge/freezer with ice machine, a DVD player, a 46" LED flat screen TV, an iPOD docking station, leather sofas, dining table, with benches & chairs to seat 10 and a log burner with glass at the sides as well as the front.

There is a separate utility room with a washing machine, a tumble dryer, a dishwasher, a microwave and an additional fridge/freezer.

The sun porch doubles as a children's playroom. Here they will find numerous toys and books for many age groups. There are also plenty of jigsaw puzzles and games to be found in the top of the cloak cupboard - and for the parents and grandparents too!

All of the living and sleeping accommodation is on one level. This is ideal when there are different generations of families. It can also be very useful to those who find it difficult with stairs and different ground levels.
In the wooden shed you will find a charcoal barbecue (with tools) and plastic buckets & spades for the beach. There is also ample room in here to store your walking boots, wetsuits, body boards, dinghy and any other paraphernalia that goes with a wonderful holiday in West Cork.

In front of the house is almost an acre of lawn with direct access to a shingle and slate beach. Don't forget to fetch the buckets & spades from the shed for crab catching!

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required upon reservation. The balance is due six weeks before arrival, together with the refundable damage deposit of £250. We strongly recommend taking out travel insurance when making your booking. Wifi is free of charge and covers all areas of the house. Electricity & heating oil are also included but the charging of electric cars is not - please advise before arrival if you are bringing an electric car so that the meter can be read.

The private country lane to Bay House may be unsuitable for some sports cars.

Very well equipped kitchen, also everything you need in the house, books, toys, chairs, BBQ etc. Just as well, as you are miles from anywhere and will certainly need to cook and to entertain yourselves. The photos don't even do it justice, the views are even more beautiful and ever changing. Even our materialistic teenagers were mesmerised. Location is lovely if you like your peace and quiet and nature. Walking distance to Durrus which has one pub that does food and a basic shop. But Bantry is 15 mins and has all shops, supermarkets, nice little cinema and restaurants and takeaways. Easy drive to much of West Cork on picturesque little roads, very charming. We had a great holiday (8 of us, 2 families) and highly recommend. We didn't have perfect weather but pretty good and it didn't spoil our fun, a nice family film evening and a meal of spaghetti is a bonding experience for cousins who don't see each other very often."

Westerly House is a large and welcoming family residence located directly on the shores of Bantry Bay at Ballylickey, Co. Cork. In all there are 6 bedrooms so this holiday home can comfortably accommodate 12 people. What is truly unique about this very special property is its location on the water with its private pontoon providing direct access to the Bay along with the privacy provided by the stunning gardens.

THE PROPERTY

This would be a wonderful place to vacation with your extended family or for a get- together with friends. The property is stylishly decorated yet at the same welcoming and homely.

There is a large, sitting room running along the rear of the property with windows overlooking the Bay along with an adjoining TV lounge. From here there is also access to the west-facing terrace, the outdoor Jacuzzi and the bay beyond.

The kitchen is warm and inviting with a large dining table. It is fully equipped and has a brand new island feature to provide additional seating. It overlooks the gardens and has a separate utility room with a guest toilet.

There is one large bedroom downstairs in this section of the house with a stunning new en-shower room.

Upstairs are 3 bedrooms –one double with wonderful sea-views and again a new en-suite shower, a second double bedroom overlooking the water also, a separate family bathroom and a third large family bedroom with a double bed and a single bed looking onto the extensive garden. All the bathrooms have been totally renovated to a very high standard.

The left wing of the house can be accessed from outside through a separate entrance and from inside, from the main sitting room area. It contains an enormous master bedroom with incredible sea-views and a stand-alone bath in the bedroom! There is also a second double en-suite bedroom featuring a bath and wet room style shower.

The gardens are well maintained and have lots of nooks and crannies to discover during your stay. An outdoor hot-tub allows you enjoy the stunning setting and views in privacy thanks to the planting and trees surrounding the property.

This is a welcoming and impressive home recently renovated in style by its new owners. It is fresh and modern and offers everything you would require during your stay and our local caretakers would be delighted to help with any arrangements you may like to make during your stay.

Please note that a non-refundable booking deposit of 25% is required at time of booking to secure your reservation at this property with the balance falling due for payment 12 weeks prior to arrival.

EXTRA CHARGES:

A security deposit of €800.00 will be required in advance of your stay. This can be paid in cash or by bank transfer. The security deposit will be refunded within 7 days of departure to the guest by bank transfer if there is no loss or damage to the house, equipment or utensils and Westerly is left in a clean and tidy condition. Any breakages or damages will be deducted from your deposit.

The price includes: bed linen, towels and all other household linen. Change of bed linen by request, not included in the price. Housekeeping can also be provided at an additional charge.

Kayaks are available for your use during your stay however if you wish to use them you must wear the lifejackets supplied.

THE LOCATION

Westerly is located just 5kms from Bantry town in one direction and 5kms from Glengarriff Village in the other. It is well located for playing golf in the region or for touring the area to discover this section of the Wild Atlantic Way. Manning's Food Emporium , a restaurant and delicatessen is located just across the road from Westerly and offers a great selection of locally sourced delicious dishes to eat in or take away. Catering for special occasions can also be arranged should you wish to entertain at home.

However for most people, including us, this provides you with a once in a life experience, the memories of which will remain with you for a very long time. My extended family, including grand and great grand children, had the most amazing time in this natural wonderland of a home in Ballylickey West Cork. Eating, drinking, swimming, kayaking, hot tubbing, with enough space to allow everyone peace and privacy when required, this was a holiday heaven, best summed up by one of my great grand children, who blurted out - this is the 2nd best holiday I ever had -. When I asked Jamie what was the first, he replied - Disneyland Paris -. There was one major disappointment. One day after we left, a pod of whales appeared in Ballylickey Bay and put on a breaching display. How beautiful it would have been to sit with a glass of wine on the jetty at the end of the garden in Westerly House and watch the whales having their fun!!!"
