A modern spacious villa with the great view of the most beautiful valley in the center of Reykjavik (Fossvogurvalley), located in a quiet and family friendly neighborhood just few minutes from the City Center.

The main floor has an open living/dining room area with large table and 2 big sofas.and provides a great place for families and groups to relax and enjoy a good meal after a busy day of sightseeing. From the living room it is possible to access in the open space to a nice side open room for the TV. At the same floor there is a spacious kitchen with table, a large bedroom that can be used also as spacious office and a fully furnished bathroom.
The upper floor has 3 bedrooms, a central living room with spacious sofa, TV and DVD player and a fully furnished bathroom.

A washing machine can be accessed on the lower floor together with bikes, storage area and garage. The house has 2 parking places of own property next to the villa.
A nice garden on the back of the villa provides a great outdoor dining area in the summer or a romantic Christmas area in the winter. 11 tries are limiting the garden in all its perimeter.
Downtown Reykjavík is just a 10 minutes drive and from the villa it’s short to walk to the nature valley of Fossvogur, a perfect place for hiking, biking, bird-watching or for a picnic. All the most beautiful villas of Reykjavik are located in this valley.

The villa can serve as a great base for various day trips outside of Reykjavík, such as the popular Golden Circle , or to the Geysers area, the Iceberg-lagune, to the horse riding facilities and to the thermal lake of the Blue Lagune. Golf clubs are also very near. Football and Tennis are available in the valley, just few minutes away from the house.

I would recommend renting a car as driving is the best way to see the area. I can help you with rental options if you would like. Private parking spaces are provided in front of the home for your convenience. However, public transportation is great in Iceland. The closest bus stop is a 2 minute walk. Taxis are also available for hire throughout the city.

The house is easy to find at a great location in Kópavogur 15 minutes (driving distance) away from downtown Reykjavik, Iceland. The house is in great condition for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The location works beautifully for a quick drive into the city and provides a good starting point for scenic drives along the coastline, the golden circle, blue lagoon, the sand planes of the east and the famous Jökulsárlón glacier at the south coast. Enjoy the amazing Mountain view and Reykjavik from the living room window or from the hot tub on the patio, and see the northern lights dance in the sky during the evening and night.

Our house has three floors, you enter the house on the 1st floor, where you have the main kitchen, living room, bathroom and one bedroom. Our kitchen is fully loaded with everything you need, from the living room you enter wooden patio where we have jacuzzi, the bedroom on the 1st floor has bunk bed. On the 2nd floor, we have big living room where we have tv and apple tv, Fireplace, sofa area and also sleeping area if needed with 3-4 single beds. The master bedroom is on the 2nd floor and it's huge, the bed is 2x2 meters, and from the bedroom you have big clothing room and master bathroom, with big shower and bath tub. From the living room in the 2nd bedroom is nice view over the city.
In the basement you have 3 bedrooms, storage room and bathroom, in the three bedrooms we have 3 bunk beds, king size bed and single beds. If your group is big then we also have extra apartment in the basement that we rent out separately, that can be rented with the house, that apartment has bedroom with King size bed and bunk bed in the hallway.

There is a Hagkaup grocery down the street which makes stocking up on food very easy, and the drive to downtown Rekjavik is less than 10 minutes - plus you get to drive on the best named road ever - "Harfnarfjevarvegur"! Our Villa is centrally located in Reykjavik area in a nice and calm neighbourhood, only 11 km away from the Reykjavik city centre. Bus transportation is just a few steps from our house. Our Villa just few meters from the Lake Elliðavatn and also walking distance from the popular nature outdoor area Heiðmörk. If the weather conditions are right you can see the Northern Lights from our house, as we are not effected by the city lights.

Our Villa is on two floors, you enter on the ground floor, there we have two bedrooms, Master bedroom has queen size bed (180x200cm) and bathroom ensuite with toilet, shower and bathtub. Very big window is in the master bedroom and if the weather conditions are right you can see the Northern Lights / Aurora lying in the bed, the Northern lights pictures online were taken in the bedroom. The other bedroom has two single beds (120x200cm and 90x200cm). We have open spacious living room, tv room and kitchen with high ceiling. Our kitchen fully loaded with everything you need.
In the lower level we have two bedrooms, nice bathroom with shower. There we have also extra kitchen. One bedroom has double bed (160x200cm) and the other bedroom is very spacious and there we have also single bed (120x200cm) and we can add 1-2 single beds (90x200cm) if needed.

- "The first impression when I walked in was "This is a nice house", and over our 10 day stay this impression did not change. The modern design and the open kitchen, dining room, living room design made the stay very enjoyable. The large kitchen countertop was great for sitting at breakfast and the large kitchen table made other meals and relaxing after a long day relaxing. The kitchen has a nice stove top and 2 ovens that worked perfect for cooking meals. We made a few Costco runs and stops at the local Kronan so we didn't end up eating out every day. We also used the grill on the patio at least half of the days we were there. We did eat out at a few local places, suggested by the owner, and they were great as promised. We particularly liked the Skalli Bistro. The location was great. Only 15 minutes to Reykjavik and to the Sky Lagoon. The local lake and walking trails behind the house was also great as we went for a number of walks along the lake. The Laundry came in very useful for us also, especially after the owner gave us a quick overview. The walk-out basement was a nice area for the younger adults to hang out, and the two bedrooms down there worked well. These items didn't affect the stay at all. The windows upstairs don't have any coverings, which is nice, but the side windows in the bedroom would be nice to have top to bottom shades. Also, it would have been nice to have a microwave. We ended up having to reheat in the oven which worked, but wasn't ideal."

Gunnarshólmi is a famlily friendly house which combines the privilege of the city and the peacefulness of the countryside, being only 15 km away from Reykjavík Centre.

It is a great place to catch the Northern lights, away from the city lights.

Gunnarshólmi is surrounded with beautiful mountains and there is a river right next to it where it is possible to catch a fish. We could assist you if you would like to buy a fishing licence for the area. The name of the river is Hólmsá. More information about the fishing area can be found here;

At Gunnarshólmi it is possible to stay in the country side and nurish the soul and body in a relaxed environment. Here you can find remains from how Icelandic agriculture was in the old days as here was a large agricultural estate established in 1928. Today there is a free range chicken farm in Gunnarshólmi. The first and only one in Iceland! We also have many beautiful horses at Gunnarshólmi.

If you are interested in hiking we can recommend some nice hiking trails in the area.

The villa is a 368 square meter flat with six bedrooms and one hobby room. Four of the rooms have queen size beds and and the master bedroom has a king size bed and a private bathroom. More beds can be arranged if asked for. We can easily change the hobby room into a bedroom if more bedrooms are needed. There are three bathrooms in the house. One is large and has two sinks and a steam bathtub. The other two both have showers and one is located inside the master bedroom and the other one is in the entry hall of the house.
The kitchen is large and fully equipt with a large dining table for up to 12 people. There are two more large dining tables in the spacious living room so up to 36 people could dine comfortably in the house. The living room and the TV area is around 80 square meters and is perfect for some events. The TV is in the area next to the living room.
There is a large garden outside of the house with furniture so the house provides excellent areas for socialising both indoors and outside.
Two of the bedrooms and the hobby room are off the entry were you enter the house and the other four are further inside the house on a long hallway. All the rooms are very spacious. On the hallway you can also find the loundry room which has a washing machine and a dryer.

Guests will have the whole house to them selves, except the garage where we store our things.

We have 4 bedrooms in the house, all with Queen size beds (160x200cm). Three bedrooms in the main house and one studio apartment in the garage. The house has 4 bedrooms. The upper level has one Master bedroom with a Queen size bed, bathroom with a shower, a fully loaded kitchen with everything you need and a living room with a balcony which has a stunning view over Reykjavik City, where you can see for example The Pearl and the landmark church of Iceland, Hallgrimskirkja. When we have clear skies, you can sometimes see the Snæfellsjökul glacier on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

The lower level has 3 bedrooms. The first bedroom has a King size bed (180x200cm ), the second bedroom has a double bed (140x200 ) with a tv + playstation 4, the third bedroom has a single bed (120x200 cm ) and if needed, another single bed (90x200 cm ) can be added to the room.

The TV room is equipped with a 55 inch TV + Apple Tv. The Master Bathroom is on the lower floor with a shower and bathtub and from the bathroom you enter our outdoor patio with a nice and spacious Hot Tub (NOT JACUZZI ) to relax in. If weather conditions are favorable, you can see the Aurora Borealis / Northern lights from it circulating over Reykjavik city.
