However what made it extra special was our wonderful host Manuel who went out of his way to make this visit extra special. If I needed a question answered or a bit of advice he responded to every question or query extremely promptly and always with courtesy. We felt extra safe and secure knowing that we were being taken care of. A car is a must for staying here but the roads are very easy to navigate and drive on. I cannot recommend the Clockhouse Villa, Vrbo or Manuel highly enough. I will definitely be looking to coming back. Thank you it really was a perfect stay. X"

- "We have a large family consisting of married couples and some with children and so we offered it is an open house to arrive and depart when you want over the three weeks that we hired the property in August and it did not disappoint. A 50 minute taxi ride from Porto we spent the first two weeks just using Ubers to get into Viana which is about a 10 minute drive away and the amazing beaches which straddle each side of the town, the final week we did hire a car. The property is immense with beautiful shaded areas to relax and read in and fruit orchards , our Grandsons especially enjoyed picking the oranges and making orange juice , it even has a mini football pitch . The kitchen is really well stocked and we loved cooking most nights and BBQ the amazing range of fresh fish you will find in the local supermarkets. My treat every morning was walking over to the local village which took just over 20 mins and buying the freshest breads and cakes as well as enjoying a fab coffee. The swimming pool was great fun and is not deep so really safe for young children and is fed by a complex of fresh waterpipes and features. Bedrooms are basic as you would expect in a old stone built house but everything was clean and working , I even had my own office to do some work I needed to do. The owner Paulo spoke great English and was really helpful with anything we needed , to sum up we had an amazing family holiday in an undiscovered part of Europe."

Several terraced areas to enjoy the views, relax under the shady vine or sunbath on an upper terrace. Well equipped and lots of attention to detail, eg areas to put a parasol, seat cushions for sun beds even shower soap, washing liquid etc. Best sandy beach to right of the house is approx 15min walk over rocks and path. House is spacious on three levels. We could relax separately from our teens if needed but I would not necessarily recommend for toddlers due to terraces and steps. Lots a character and excellent sea view, with a dramatic rocky coastline. Website images do not do it justice."

Recently rehabilitated villa in Areosa, very close to the sea, with excellent views to the ocean and the mountain of Santa Luzia.
The villa has, on the ground floor, a large living room, kitchen and toilet and, on the first floor, 3 bedrooms and 2 toilets. The 500-square-meter lawn garden is surrounded by stone walls.

In the vicinity of the villa there is a bus stop, a supermarket (Intermarché) and some restaurants.

For sure a place to return." - "Location - although located very close to the shore, we still had to use car to get to the nearby beaches - a stroll takes a bit too long, especially before breakfast or during the midday heat. The supermarket is 10 minutes away by foot, or 2 minutes by car; House - very nicely furnished, good kitchen, with a cosy garden; Hosts are most friendly and helpful - we needed additional kitchen equipment for the birthday party and it was provided on first request without any problems. The only problem we've had was with the noise level. The house stands on the main street and the traffic is pretty thick even in the night. Thus it takes a while to get accustomed to it. We haven't tried to close windows due to the high humidity, maybe it wouldn't have been an issue otherwise."

- "Perfect location and perfect host! Just a wonderful house that created a lot of positive memories." - "We went as a big group including 3 families end of October beginning of November. The villa and its views was absolutely breathtaking. The villa had everything we needed and the children couldn’t get enough of the pool. The kitchen was stocked as requested as we arrived late and it was exactly what we needed. There was plenty of towels for the pool which was brilliant as we didn’t have to use the white bathroom towels. The villa decor was incredible mix of modern and vintage decor which we absolutely loved. We used the pizza oven one night (although it took us over an hour to cook one pizza because we had never done it before). If you get a day where the weather isn’t great then head to the shopping mall which is about 10 minutes away good selection of food places in there and some lovely shops. The beach was breathtaking. The only thing we would say is the recycling bins were about 500 metres away from the villa down the hill. As we had a big group we had a lot of rubbish to get rid of and it was quite a trek carrying the bins down to the bins. Would definitely recommend it was such a great holiday Recycling bins to be outside of the villa gates"

- "We stayed in this house for 5 days in June/July 2022 and it was exactly as described on the website. It is very spacious - spotlessly clean and everything worked really well. The pool area is very nice - and the whole garden area is very private The owners were very attentive - gave us lots of helpful advice on where to eat & visit in the area and were very responsive to any questions. Summary:
Villa Joia is a luxurious and detached mansion in the eastern part of the Algarve. Just 5 minutes from the beach and with a private pool, you can spend a wonderful time with a group of friends or family all year round. We accept weddings of up to 60 persons. With a sports field

The Space:
The mansion has two floors and there are a total of 10 bedrooms, all with their own (heated) bathroom en-suite. All rooms have air conditioning and heating. The bedrooms all have a ceiling fan in the house. An 11th bedroom with its own bathroom is located in the annex by the pool, which has air conditioning/heating too and three sofa beds.

Villa Joia has a beautiful view over the coastline of the Algarve. This is even better to admire from the roof terrace near the pool. The outdoor space here has everything that you would want! Around the pool is everything you need to relax and the luxurious outdoor bar makes it all the more enjoyable. Plenty of seating areas, huge lawned area, and sports field - great for Yoga and football and other outdoor activities. The pool can be heated up to 25 degrees for an additional charge of £350 per week. So for every season this is the place to be.

With a total of 3.5 hectares of protected area, the mansion is situated between a lemon orchard with no less than 1,200 lemon trees, palm trees, (sub)tropical fruit trees and plants. The fruit and vegetables can be picked and eaten throughout the year according to need. The garden around the house offers lovely shady spots and for various sports activities there is a large sports field, including sports equipment, of 35x70m.

But the most special part (our favourite) is the authentic courtyard with old olive trees. A BBQ and Pizza oven complete the outdoor life, and events/weddings have a beautiful traditional Portuguese and calm, tranquil feeling here.

The environment around the villa is beautiful and versatile. Surrounded by picturesque villages, untouched nature reserves, golf courses and of course close to the beautiful white beaches, there is something for everyone.

Tavira is only 10 minutes away and Santa Luzia the fishing village (famous for its octopus dishes) even closer.
