- "I had a great stay at Alexatou's Studios. I was in an attic room which had lots of character, it even had its own little terrace area with a sun lounger and bistro set! It had everything I needed for a short stay. Mirka, the owner, was really lovely and we had some nice chats. Agia Efimia is also fantastic - super chilled, less touristy than Sami or Argostoli, with friendly people, close to lots of beautiful things. The ground level apartment of my lovely house building is located within the picturesque village of Agia Efimia and next to the sea. Based in the centre of Agia Efimia you can easily walk to all amenities from supermarkets, bars, cafes and tavernas to atm machine, pharmacy, tourist information and car/motorbike/motorboat rental places.
You can enjoy swimming and snorkeling choosing among the numerous beautiful pebble coves with clear crystal water within 400m. or literally open the door and just jump to the sea right in front of the apartment. There is a professional diving school based in the village, and also small motorboats available for hire in order for you to reach the idyllic, isolated coves surrounding Agia Efimia, accessible only by boat. Nature lovers and hikers will find beautiful walking paths throughout the surrounding small villages and mountains in the valley of Pylaros. Other outdoor activities such as horseback riding, water skiing are provided in the area. Within a 15 minute drive you reach the amazing Myrtos beach famed for the beauty of its blue water (voted one of the top ten beaches in the world). Agia Efimia and "Sunrise Bay Apartments" are an ideal base for exploring Kefalonia. The village itself is in a great central location giving easy access to all areas, especially the northern part of the island. (Sami, Assos, Fiskardo, Myrtos beach).

The drive up is steep so take a good run at it! Parking is shaded - great in the heat! Kostas was helpful and showed us around the property. He had earlier contacted us by e- mail and given us his contact phone numbers. We enjoyed our stay in this apartment and particularly liked the beautiful view from the terrace. The apartment is quite well equipped - we had issues with a broken corkscrew but Kostas replaced it on day two. A couple more saucepans and some wine glasses would be helpful - we bought a couple of glasses and left them in the apartment. We appreciated the mid week change of towels and sheets and the daily emptying of rubbish. The shower was great and hot water plentiful. The air con was efficient but some of the remotes need new batteries! The Internet worked well in the main lounge and terrace. We only used the TV once to watch BBC World. The apartment suited us well as a base from which to explore the northern end of this lovely island. We had spent a week in the south before heading to Agia Efimia. We liked the town with its bustling but unspoilt atmosphere and traditional bakeries. From here we visited Fiscardo, Assos, Myrtos ( beautiful but dangerous for swimming), Sami and Antisamos beach, the cave at Melisanni and Poros. We also spent an enjoyable day on a boat trip to Ithaca. There are numerous small beaches along the road from Sami to Agia Efimia which are easily accessed by steps.
