Kildahl House is a fully updated farmhouse that was painstakingly renovated specifically for short-term lodging guests. The simple farmhouse was built by the Kildahl family in the early 1900’s and occupies a prominent location atop a hill, looking over the downtown. Mr. J.P. Kildahl was the village’s first prominent photographer and served as a Village Trustee for 30 years, while Mrs. Louise Kildahl—active in the community—started a flower service that began almost fifty years of a beautiful tradition of bestowing flowers wherever cheer, or congratulations were in order. In 2022, the property was completely rehabbed and renovated to offer four private one-bedroom suites that honor the original heritage of the property with clean lines, pastel color palettes, and simple farmhouse furnishings. The tonal clapboard structure with cedar shake roof offers river and downtown views, private backyard with a seating area. The wraparound porch, complete with porch swing, will take you back in time. - "St Patrick's Day is always a great time in East Dundee so we have been celebrating there for many years. The only downside was trying to find safe transportation home. This led to us looking for somewhere close to stay. Fortunately, we found the perfect location right in East Dundee. It has multiple parking spots on the back side of the building while the front side has a great balcony overlooking River St. It was the perfect spot to watch the parade as well as for some people watching throughout the weekend. The unit was clean and very cozy. It provided a spot for us to make a few meals as well as a great meetup spot when the downtown area was overly busy. The selfish side of me did not want to give a review to increase the likelihood it would be available for next year. If you are looking for a nice place to spend a weekend, this is it. If I had to guess there are at least 15 restaurants and bars within walking distance as well as a Dairy Queen and a frozen custard shop. If you enjoy the outdoors the Fox River Bike Trail is directly across the street. The trail is over 40 miles in length and runs from Aurora north into Algonquin. The combination of the nice unit mixed with such a great location I would definitely give it 5 stars and look forward to our next stay!"

One Parking Space available - Our parking is tight. If you have a large truck there may not be space for you. If you need additional parking, please make a request before booking.

Extra guests - This space is for 4 guests only, including children. If you had additional needs, please make the request before booking. Unauthorized guests my result in a $100 fee per head per night.

Stairs - We have stairs coming down from our parking lot, if you cannot do stairs, please do not book.

River road is great for cycling and we're close to the Prairie Path (Bicycle path) Our hotel is bicycle friendly so bring your bike to ride along the river.
