We considered his behaviour very rude & unacceptable. The lady who took our orders & served our meals was very pleasant. The seafood meal was very disappointing. The seafood was tough, the vegetables very hard & the sauce tasted like hot water mixed with cornflour. Yuk! Our comments in no way reflect on our opinion of the apartment hotel, as we would happily stay there again, but will never dine at the Chinese restaurant again. There is also an Indian restaurant there, so we will try that next time. "

The space
The home backs onto the Kimberly Plateau (Daisy Hill State Forest) with gated access & on-site parking for large vehicles. In the morning you will most likely wake up to lots of bird sounds. But in a nice way! Kangaroos are a common site early in the morning. The pool area is completely private & exclusively yours during your stay.
Guest access:
Self check-in with a temporary access code that will be sent to you prior to check-in. The unit is attached to the main house but is completely self contained with independent access. It is not recommended to leave your car parked in the gate opening whilst the gate is open just as a precaution.
Other things to note:
We are located 16.5km from the Sirromet winery and are also close to assorted wedding venues in that area. Sirromet is a $20 to $30 Uber ride & the wait for an uber is usually under 5 minutes. Gold Coast theme parks are 30 km away & there are a number of top rated golf courses within a short drive. The property is located in a quiet neighborhood and features a gated entrance for your security. The Daisy Hill Koala Park is just 10 minutes drive. The sofa coverts to a very comfortable double bed if required. Air conditioning fitted as from 6th March 2019. Crim safe window security fitted as of late April 2019 allowing you to sleep with your windows open.

Tastefully appointed and recently renovated this self-contained ground-floor guest suite has its own entrance, no stairs, and offers spacious large bedrooms; both with luxurious queen size beds, big windows, overhead fans, robes, chest of drawers, writing desk and chair. Kick back and relax in this calm, stylish space. Conveniently located in Shailer Park, which is a nice, safe and family friendly neighbourhood close to a big shopping centre, 4 min off of the M1 Between Brisbane and Gold Coast. Plenty to do in the area like visit the Daisy Hill Koala Wild Life Sanctuary (5min) Play at the local public golf courses (7 and 10 min). Montain bike or hike at the Cornubia Forest Nature Reserve (1min). Our place is only 20min drive to Dream World and Movie World, 20 min the other direction to Brisbane CBD. 10 min drive to the new Logan hospital. Many guests have commented on how much they love relaxing in the private outdoor area. and it's one of my favourite places for my morning meditation when im using the studio!

RULES:

All of our guests must follow local council laws. THIS PROPERTY IS FOR QUIET ENJOYMENT ONLY. No gatherings, parties, or events can be allowed. 7pm-7am are quiet hours. meaning No music, loud tv, loud talking or laughing, yelling, or talking loudly. A good rule of thumb is that the neighbours should not be able to hear you at all. Pets are allowed only in gated area outside unless otherwise approved by the hosts. Even during non quiet hours guest cannot have loud music on or be making excess noise or inconvenience neighbours at anytime.

Extra charges may apply for:
• Replacement of lost keys and/or remote controls at cost
• Note: All rubbish MUST be bagged hygienically including double bagging soiled nappies and seafood and placed in outside garbage bin
• All food items must be removed from the property and all kitchen items must be washed and put away on departure
• Soiled linen and items requiring professional laundering
• Damages to the property OR common property which has not been reported by email within 2 hours of arrival
• A minimum charge of $50 or cost of replacement (which every is greater) is applicable should items be moved from one property to another or moved within a property
• Late departures charges of $100 per hour will be applied after 11.00am unless prior arrangement in place

Excess noise, intoxication, inappropriate language or behaviour that is threatening or unacceptable will not be tolerated. Guests who are behaving inappropriately will be asked to leave the property and no monies will be refunded to the guest.

The owner was responsive to messages, but repeatedly asked if my husband would look at the door to try and fix it which I found annoying as it’s not our responsibility. We understand that sometimes you really enjoy your time here with us and would like stay a little longer! However, we sometimes have guests coming to stay on the same day you check out and unlike hotels, we do not have alternative rooms for them! Therefore it is important that all late check out requests should be made AT LEAST THE NIGHT before your departure to ensure that our cleaners have plenty of time to finish their work! If you need to check out after 12pm, an extra HALF DAY rate will be charged through Airbnb and the payment must be made on and before the night you check out for your request to be approved. We will not accommodate late check out requests on the day of your departure. Without a late check out confirmation, our cleaner will commence their work at 10am and they will have access to our property for housekeeping.

We provide all our guests with essential starter supplies to make your stay more enjoyable. Complimentary supplies include: 1 set of bed linens for each bed, 2 towels per double/queen/king bed, 1 towel per single/sofa bed, 1 tea towel, coffee + tea + sugar + milk, 2 toilet rolls per toilet, 1 bath mat, 2 hand towels and shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, bodywash per bathroom. There are also a few other cooking supplies provided in our kitchen. Please note these supplies are not intended to last for the whole duration of your stay but are provided to avoid the need to rush to supermarkets immediately after your arrival. If you need extra supplies, please arrange with us prior to your stay to avoid delivery costs! If you would like to request mid-stay supply delivery, please contact us and we are more than happy to help!

Please make sure to book for the actual number of guests so that linens & towels can be provided for all!

Before anything else, I would appreciate it if you took a moment to read these house rules at the beginning of your stay and follow them. If anything is unclear, please contact me so I can explain in further detail to avoid any misunderstandings.

RULE 1: Please respect check in and out times.
❑ The standard check-out time is 10am. There are absolutely no exceptions unless arrangements have been made at the time of booking. For any unauthorized late check-out, a $50/hr late check-out fee will apply.
❑ Under no circumstances can check-outs be later than noon (12pm), as other guests are arriving and the space must be cleaned — Any unauthorized late check-out beyond this time will result to a fee equivalent to a day’s base rate without discounts (NOTE: This fee will not mean possession of the property for the day, this is the fee for over-staying for more than 2 hours without permission)

RULE 2: No parties or events allowed
❑ Strictly no parties allowed. Infringement on this rule will result in eviction without refund.

RULE 3: No smoking allowed.
❑ Smoking inside the property is prohibited and will result an additional charge of over $250. This is as the smell will need to be treated professionally and the room deodorized.

RULE 4: No pets allowed.
❑ Strictly no pets allowed. We absolutely love pets but due to hygienic and health reason/s, we are unable to accommodate them in my property. Violation of this rule will result an additional cleaning fee equivalent to the cleaning fee in your booking as the housekeepers will need to do extra work.

RULE 5: Please respect the noise curfew.
❑ Quiet hours are between 10pm – 8am seven days a week. A noise complaint during these hours will result in eviction without refund.

RULE 6: Please report damages or left behind items.
❑ If there is any damage to the property please inform the host ASAP. We will need to replace them and additional charges may apply.
❑ For left behind items, our housekeepers will bring them back to our warehouse and you can contact us to arrange item pick up from the warehouse for free until two weeks after your check out day. Items will not be kept in the warehouse longer than 2 weeks and we will donate all left behind items to charity shops after two weeks.
❑ If you leave any items behind by accident, we are happy to post them back to you. However, we will need to compensate our housekeepers or managers for the postage fee and their time. This will be $30 + the postage cost.

RULE 7: Please take extra care of your keys. Lost keys incur a replacement fee.
❑ If you are locked out and require us to visit the property, a $50 fee will be charged. This fee increases to $150 after 5:30pm daily or before 9:30am and all day on weekends. This can be paid either through our booking platform or cash to the delivery person. Arrangements will only be made once payment is received.
❑ Lost keys or access swipes are subject to a $500 replacement charge. This is as the locks will need to be changed.
❑ We usually provide one set of keys to our studio, one bedroom and two bedroom apartments. Two sets of keys are usually provided to our three bedroom plus apartments and houses. If you have requested an extra set of keys, a deposit of $100 will be required. This deposit will be returned to you once you have returned all keys.

A large deck with amazing views offers the opportunity to chill out and relax. There is a self contained kitchen, modern bathroom sitting and dining area as well as dedicated parking in the carport for two large cars (there is no public transport so a car is essential).

Guest access
The owners live on the upper floors and are around to help if required. Guests have their own separate and private access to the Retreat including all the facilities in the garden, including walking on the established trails in the bush. You are likely to see a variety of wildlife including Wallabies, Goannas, Parrots and even Echidna's. We have Koalas too but they are hard to spot. There are snakes in the bush but we have yet to see a venomous one in 12 years.

Other things to note
Our aim is for guests to relax and feel entirely at home. It is a quiet rural location and we request that our guests respect the peaceful, tranquil area by keeping noise to a respectful level. Well behaved pets are welcome (upon request) but dogs must be kept on a leash on the property as we are nature lovers and do not want our local furry neighbours to be spooked.
We have two dogs ourselves and whilst they are unable to pay a visit to our guests, they do bark when guests or visitors arrive as we are fairly isolated!
Young toddlers are welcome but we do not feel that the Retreat is a safe place given that the deck has a 3m drop which, if unsupervised, might be a danger to "adventurous" children
