The Munches Room is carefully appointed in the Adam style, and connects guests to the Jacobite history of Buittle, former home of the Maxwells. The site which the present tower occupies was once the inner bailey of the medieval Buittle Castle, one of Scotland's royal castles and twice capital of Scotland. Buittle was home to Lady Devorguilla of Galloway and the Bailliol Dynasty, and later a Jacobite stronghold of the Gordon and Maxwell families, who re-constructed the original 13th Century keep into the present L-plan tower, c.1500. Buittle Castle, unlike many such buildings, remains very much a working building, and so retains the 'feel' that these buildings had when first built, surrounded by formal gardens, livestock, vegetable growing and pleasure grounds. It is currently home to James, the 24th great grandson of Lady Devorguilla, and his cousin Tobias, who have re-acquired the castle after roughly 60 years of it being out of family ownership. The site is also home to a working printing office specialising in craft letterpress printing and bookbinding, and a medieval chapel, with an interesting Jacobite history, in which services are regularly celebrated in the pre-reformation Use of Sarum.

Internally, the open plan layout has been designed to maximise views over the garden and open country side. The studio has distinct living, eating and sleeping zones (including a very comfy super king bed), there is a kitchenette area to prepare food which includes a kettle, toaster, microwave and single ceramic plate. The studio is warmed by wood burning stove and a small electric radiator in the bedroom zone.
The studio has reliable WiFi too.

The 'Green House' is a charming wood panelled annex cottage dating from the 1920s. It is in a quiet, rural location, but still close to the M74 so a perfect stop en-route to northern Scotland or southwards to the border and England. It has an AGA, central heating, king-size beds with electric blankets, private parking, full cooking facilities and utilities, as well as it's own 'private use' garden facilities with views over sheep farms and the Moffat Hills.

The space
The Green House at Tathhill was built in 1921 as the servants' quarters for the main house which acted as a game shooting lodge. It still retains many of its original features and exudes period cottage charm. Although in the midst of the countryside, it is only a few miles from the M74 motorway. Despite being adjacent to the main house, it has private use of a large section of the garden. French windows lead out to a paved terrace with outdoor seating/table and views out over beautiful countryside. The living/dining/kitchen area is open plan so ideal for sociable living. The Green House is fully centrally heated and also has an AGA which provides additional warmth as well as cooking facilities. The two bedrooms have very comfortable King size double beds with quality mattresses and electric blankets.

The Green House is solely for the use of the guests. Although adjacent to the main house, guests have sole use of a section of the land at Tathhill, which essentially creates a private garden, which a terrace area for al fresco dining and drinks.

The space
We would love to welcome you to our beautiful spacious holiday home. The caravan is located at Three Lochs Holiday Park in Dumfries and Galloway region. Loch's Heaven 67 with loch view provides a large terrace with dining area and BBQ equipment, 3 bedrooms, ensuite toilet, shower room, fully equipped kitchen with full size fridge freezer, living room with sofa bed, flat screen TV, free Wi-fi, dining table, electric fire place, gas central heating. We also offer a travel cot bed with bedding, a high chair, board games and toys for the wee ones. All bed linen and towels are included. Private free car park next to home.
