The ambience of the property was very relaxing and homely, making us feel at home as soon as we arrived. The bed was very comfortable and the linen was very soft, allowing a good rest on both nights. Two beds were made up in the lounge area but were not really in the way and we left them in place for the duration of our stay without issue. The bathroom was a good size and had a nice big shower area with good water pressure. Breakfast consisted of a loaf of bread, several rashers of bacon, eggs, juice, yoghurt, and milk with muesli. This was a self service style breakfast, and we liked the flexibility on timing and how much to eat. There were a nice coffee machine and milk frother which got good use both mornings and made excellent coffee. The kitchen was well stocked with crockery, glasses, and utensils and we never found ourselves looking for something they didn't have when we were cooking. The area is a quiet village-type with a general store a couple of minutes walk and several restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Anything else and you will definitely need to drive. There is room for one car per "unit", and they are located close by, typically next to the unit itself. Three units seem to be interconnected which would mean for bigger groups, you could combine three units but still maintain privacy in the evenings."

The accommodation provides a cosy haven whether by oneself or for couples getting away from the big smoke or just passing through to or from Melbourne. Come and visit our peaceful patch of countryside with our friendly pets set among rolling hills with plenty of local attractions and tasty produce to indulge all tastes.

This studio style accommodation consists of the main living/sleeping area, with separate kitchenette and bathroom areas. In the living area is a queen size bed, 2-seater sofa, dining table for 2 and smart TV, with Wi-Fi. The kitchenette has a fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, with dinner set and tea and coffee making facilities for up to two people. The bathroom has shower, toilet and vanity, together with linen for your use during your time with us. On the deck is a small table and two chairs, together with a small electric grill for outside barbecuing during pleasant days.

Our property is surrounded by the beautiful Gippsland countryside. We have paddocks with horses, and dogs that roam freely around our house block. The guest house is located next to our own home. There is space to stretch your legs, though we ask that you don't enter paddocks. If the horses come near the fence, you are welcome to pat them - just watch your fingers as they may think you have food. Some of the fences are electrified, so please don't touch. Our dogs are very friendly and love nothing more than your pats and ear rubs! They are not allowed in the guest house and we ask that you don't invite them inside. We respectfully ask that you don't bring pets with you to avoid any conflict with our own animals.

Other things to note
Most guests are choosing to stay for weekend getaways, but we welcome midweek visitors (minimum 2 nights.) The accommodation is popular during public holidays over long weekends, and Victorian school holidays, so best to book early. Send us a message to enquire about availability.

The Snowy River Homestead is a historic property c1891 originally built on the river flatlands. It has been extended and renovated over the years and is currently owner occupied. The Bed and Breakfast is a separate wing to the homestead and was built 15 years ago and blends in well with the original building with the same colonial heritage style.

The property is conveniently located 5km from Orbost town. There are cafes, pubs, shops, supermarket, pharmacy and bakeries for convenience.

The location is very peaceful and boasts an abundance of bird life. You are very likely to sight and hear Kookaburra's sing. And sight Australian king parrots, red and blue Rosella parrots, superb fairy wren and many more. Sheeps also graze in our homestead paddocks and are a delight for kids. We also have a pitfire in the grounds and guests are allowed to light a fire and sit around with marshmallows in cooler temperatures. Firewood is not supplied but can be purchased from the service station 1km down the road.

Adjacent to the BnB is the Snowy River Railtrail which is a hot spot for cyclists. The Railtrail extends 100km and forms part of the East Gippsland Rail Trail which starts in Orbost and ends in Bairnsdale.

There is a walkway sign on our property for Echidna walking trail. However, this trail is council managed and is not in good state. If you wish to take the walk, please use the road outside the driveway entrance. If you turn right, you will walk to "Old Coach Road" that will take you to the start of the rail bridge.

We also have a local clay shop on the premises that sells handmade jewellery and original art and prints.

Some local attractions includes visting the Cape Conran Coastal Beach, Marlo, Frenches Narrows Coastal Walk, Buchan Caves, Lakes Entrance and Lake Tyres Beach. All are accessible within 30-40 minutes drive from Snowy River Homestead.

Pet policy

Pets are welcome at any time of the year and allow stay inside unit.

All pets must inform and pay additional charge BEFORE check in.
For all booking we will confirm pet by phone, text message, email, internal message (if book from website) and in person at check in. If all answers are “NO” but we still find pet after that, you will ask leave our property immediately without any refund. Such behaviour is not welcome.

At any time, by any reason, pets:
Must lead by host within complex;
Cannot leave alone in the unit;
Cannot use couch, bed and other furniture;
Cannot use shower and any other unit facilities include crockery and cutlery;
Cannot “ENTER” swimming pool area.

Break above policy, result any damage or need extra cleaning, minimum $50 penalty will charge from your account. Complain from other guests or incorrect behaviour found by our staff, 1st time we give a warning. If happen again or keep doing things after warning, you will ask leave our property immediately without any refund.

if cannot obey, or donnot want to obey our house rule please donnot book with us.
quite time is 10pm (weekend is 12am) till next 7am, during that time no noise allow to affect other guests. if happened we encourage guest call police to stop it. we donnot accept complain during the day. we donnot accept negative review because of that. our accommodation are joint unit, and we recommend all guest obey the rule, but we cannot guarantee avoid this bad behavior. please donnot book with us if feel uncomfortable about that.
our building is 1970's, according to negative feedback, we will not doing anymore renovation, please donnot book with us if you wish a modern style.
we accept all type cooking, such as chilli, fresh seafood and curry, cooking smell may not away for same day check in, please donnot book with us if feel uncomfortable about that.
most of our linen are grey colour, rest are in brown, many of the bath towels, hand towels and face washer are in brown colour too. please donnot book with us if feel uncomfortable with that.

Amazing panoramic bay views of Wilsons Prom. Relax and rejuvenate in this unique and tranquil off grid, self-contained cottage. From the living room windows you will take in a brilliant, green canvas of rolling hills and towering gums that lead your eyes to the blue waters of Corner Inlet. There is plenty to see and do around the area or just enjoy the soaring eagles over the valleys and wildlife while enjoying a wine on the comfy chairs from your private deck.

The space
Guests have a bedroom with a queen bed, bedside lamps for reading, wardrobe and a large ensuite. All linen, doonas, blankets, towels, bath mat, hand towels, face washer and and T towels are provided. The ensuite has a hairdryer and liquid soaps for guests use. There is a towel warmer for that extra touch. The views over the deck look over sloping hills to Corner Inlet and the Northern end of Wilson’s Prom. The deck has two comfy chairs with cushions overlooking the fire pit and further to the Prom. The living area has a comfy couch, TV with Netflix available, spilt system as well as a wood fire. The kitchenette has a large fridge freezer and an electric hob and a table and chairs. A variety of teas are available and a coffee plunger with quality coffee. There are a small amount of condiments like olive oil, jam, honey, fruit chutney, sugar and salt and pepper. We have saucepans, frypan and sandwich maker and toaster as well as cutlery, cups, glasses, plates and bowls. We also have a salad bowl and wooden platters for cheeses etc.

Guests have exclusive access to the cottage, deck and area with the fire pit. They are able to walk around the 3 .6 acres but be aware that we also reside next door.

The space
Stable & Nook is an eclectic space nestled in the heart of Hoddle. Our beds are complete with linen sheets and down quilts, to snuggle into on the cold winter nights or fling back on warmer summer evenings (yes ladies we know a top sheet is essential). An endless supply of rainwater means long hot showers are never a problem and a split system or wood look heater to stay cosy.

Gowns and blankets are supplied to cosy up on the butter soft leather lounge and gaze out at the rolling green hills or Netflix away the hours sipping on a Gurneys or local wine you picked up on your day out!!

Our bungalow offers a relaxed, cosy nook, perfect for a short getaway or longer sojourn. Plus, with the Great Southern Rail Trail on our doorstep, you can explore over 70kms of bike, hike, or horse-riding trails.

Our cosy bungalow (they didn’t have Tardis as an option) is all yours. We are proudly an inclusive stay and all guests of any background or community are welcomed here into a safe space.

Please note. The space around the bungalow is shared with the property owners and used by our horses to move about. We are very aware of maintaining your privacy.

Feel free to respectfully use the space around the bungalow and share a moment with our horses.

Other things to note
We stock a basic pantry due to our remote nature, which includes: Coffee Capsules (Nespresso), Black and Herbal Teas, Milk (please advise us prior to your stay which 'milk' you prefer) Salt, Pepper & Olive Oil, some dried herbs and spices, or prick fresh from our garden when in season.

You are working on country time now and most shops close early so we advise you stop at one of the general stores or supermarkets in Fish Creek or Foster on your way here or while out and about.

Amenities in your kitchenette include a coffee maker (pod) toaster, kettle, microwave, BBQ (on the deck) pancake maker/toaster, bar fridge, dishwasher, crockery, cutlery, knives, Chopping boards and serving dishes. If you are drawn to the amazing produce in the area we have a full kitchen in the group space just across the driveway that you are welcome to use to cook up a storm!!

If you ask nicely Tim can share with you where he sources, and how he prepares the 'Perfect' local grown, grass fed, Rib Eye...YUM

Please note, due to the nature of our business pets and young children will need to be supervised around our horses as they are very friendly. We ask that you only interact with our horses from outside their paddock (over the fence) as they run in a herd and can be overwhelmingly curious.

For their safety Dogs must not be allowed to roam freely around our property. Dogs must not be left unsupervised for extended periods without prior approval from the host.

We are approximately 4.5kms to Fish Creek, 7kms to Foster, 15kms to Yanakie, 41kms to Tidal River. Roll down the hill to Fish Creek or Foster along the Great Southern Rail Trail.
