In all weather, the beautiful property has something to offer. Enjoy meandering walks through the trees and heritage-listed land, or let the kids run free, and the dogs off-leash to romp on the grassy slope.

Provisions for a cooked breakfast are provided (local bacon, free-range eggs, bread, tomatoes, butter and oil) and can be eaten in the dedicated breakfast parlour. Alternatively, you can walk through the French doors onto the back slated courtyard and enjoy more lovely vistas of trees and paddocks from the table and chairs by the secure (yet discreet) dog run.

The charming, character master bedroom with its white-washed walls and Edwardian dressing table has a queen-sized bed with Posturpedic mattress. The view through the window overlooks a swathe of gum trees.

The second bedroom has two singles and overlooks the front verandah. (Some couples like to put their children to bed before retiring around an open fire a few metres down the slope beneath the gum trees. Childish cries can easily be heard while parents can enjoy some outdoors respite.)

No other building or road blocks the country views in all directions.

COSY COMFORT

Linen and electric blankets are provided while a pot belly stove and reverse cycle air-conditioning keep the slate-floored sitting room comfortable, year-round.

Foxtel provides inside entertainment while outdoors, guests can enjoy a bonfire in the fire pit between the cottage and the creek bed. There's also a gas BBQ in the back courtyard which doubles as a dog enclosure and eating area.

Dogs love it and birdlife is plentiful, including a variety of parrots, and kangaroos are seen most days.

Restaurants, wineries and an 18-hole golf course are easily accessible. Clare township offers good shopping facilities while the Clare Valley is noted for its fine wines, excellent wineries, scenic drives and the beauty of its trees and rolling hills. The area has an unspoilt rural charm about it.

Relax in the claw-footed bath and enjoy stunning views through large floor-to-ceiling windows from both bathrooms, located at opposite sides of the house. The long, baronial-sized living room with open fireplace separates each queen-sized suite while a pretty twin room is ideal for kids and singles. A quaint, spacious attic room with an 1880s iron-posted double bed and views over the hills at the back of the property is made available for larger groups.

From the main house, visitors can step out through French doors onto the slate terrace from every room (except the third twin bedroom and attic) and watch the sun go down behind a vista of stunning valley views with the Clare Valley racecourse in the far distance.

Enjoy a bottle of complimentary local Clare Valley wine in front of a blazing fire or, in summer, on the slate terrace overlooking the sweeping valley as you cook your food on the BBQ.

Bronte Manor is the ideal place for entertaining, Writers' Retreats, or simply for relaxing.

Depending on the weather - or the direction of the wind or sun - you can use the gas BBQ on the terrace and enjoy the feeling of being lord of all you survey from this beautifully elevated position, or cook up your sausages on the wood-fired BBQ on the eastern side of the house while you enjoy undisturbed views of the hills at the back of the property which are covered in natural bushland.

For those who want to toast marshmallows over an open fire beneath a star-studded sky during winter, there's a large fire pit near Heathcliff Cottage. (Additional wood can be purchased at the local service stations or the Clare Woodyard.)

At the edge of the courtyard, hundred-year-old gums pepper the slope which meets a wide grassy sward, bordered by a ribbon of trees, with the dam in the distance. There is not another building or road to distract the eye.

Birdlife and kangaroos are abundant.

Well-mannered dogs welcome - allowed indoors. Securely fenced dog run near the house with kennel.

Heathcliff Cottage is never separately let.

Guests are welcome to stroll around the property via the pathways and take photos of their experience, as it’s a unique opportunity to have access to a working vineyard. The owner’s animal family also live on the vineyard, and you may see two very cute ponies, some pet sheep and a very active working dog who will love to play fetch with you!

The Groom's Quarters is one of several heritage accommodation buildings at Bungaree Station. Today this apartment is perfect for groups of up to 4 guests wanting to relax in the beautiful Clare Valley. Breakfast provisions (e.g. eggs, bacon, juice, cereal) are included. Guests can explore the historic station, meet the animals, visit local wineries and other attractions. Multiple night stays are discounted by up to 20%.

The space
There are 2 bedrooms, an open plan kitchen/sitting room equipped for self catering, and a bathroom. Outside there is a BBQ.

Guest access
While staying at Bungaree, our guests are welcome to enjoy the surrounds. The self guided history trail "The Story of Bungaree Station" consists of a series of signs, audioposts and displays around the property and is complimentary for our guests (normally $15 per person for day visitors). Animal lovers and families may enjoy coming to feed some of the animals with us in the mornings. For those who are feeling energetic there is also a walking trail through the paddocks and a swimming pool which guests are welcome to use in warmer weather. In cooler months, bonfires can also be arranged (cost for wood/setup) if guests wish to bring marshmellows and local wines to enjoy under the stars!
