In the heart of the Shenandoah mountains. 1 mile from White Oak Canyon and Old Rag for amazing hikes. Perfect for the fly fisherman (lots of local streams) or a nice quiet get-away for a couple. Once you park your car you can sit back and just listen to the river flowing in the back yard & enjoy a nice beverage next to the fire pit. The property is a very special place!

Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and just two miles outside of Shenandoah National Park , we are located just off main street in Sperryville. Our cozy efficiency apartment is close to a variety of attractions including first class dining and nearby hiking trails. The unit is fully furnished with a full bath, full kitchen, off street parking, and private deck and entrance. We are a short drive to the park or a short walk to downtown Sperryville.

The space
Originally a 19th century barn which was later converted into two studio apartments (see our other unit, Riverside Off Main), we offer a queen size bed, an open layout, with a full kitchen and bath.
The main house (built in 1916 and affectionately known as Boo Boo's House) sits right next door just off main street. Get away from it all and enjoy the mountains in the heart of Sperryville and Rappahannock County with its antique shops, art galleries, wineries, and world famous restaurants!!

Other things to note
Please keep in mind that although we are in town, we are in a rural community. We are not only surrounded by natural beauty but also by nature so you may expect to encounter critters , both big and small. Rappahannock County seems to be stinkbug central (especially in late spring and fall)
and apparently, Asian beetles love the area too!

Be it for family fun, a romantic getaway, or a friends weekend, the Stonesthroe Cottage awaits you.

The 2BR/1 BA guest house is equipped with all modern amenities surrounded by 10 acres of serene space at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains that include a river, plenty of outdoor seating to read, observe wildlife (including our chickens and bees) and stargaze, plus a fire pit to enjoy s’mores. Don’t forget to check out the amazing show the fireflies put on during summer nights or the breathtaking views of fall foliage!

The bedroom upstairs is a loft with high ceilings and a cupula, a king bed, TV, closet, and an oversized chair with comfy blankets perfect for reading or journaling. Downstairs, you’ll find a bedroom with a queen bed and a small bathroom. Our living room space contains a couch and a corner that includes a microwave, fridge, coffee/tea bar, and the option of using a countertop induction range with supplies to prepare a meal. We have a dining area set up for you on your private deck.

Outside, you are welcome to roam and take a walk to the trout-stocked Hughes River on our property. Make a catch? Use our grill or fire pit in the evening.

The cottage also has board games and books to entertain in the event of a rainy day.

NOTE:
Our area is quite remote and yes, that means cell service can be limited. We have wifi that allows you to enable wifi calling.

The Stonesthroe Cottage is our guesthouse. Our private residence is also on property and we are just a short walk away should you need any assistance.

We have two beehives on the property. While they are not close to the guesthouse, we want to make sure all are aware in the event a guest is allergic.

We are nestled in nature. Mother Nature provides tranquility, serenity, and… all sorts of wildlife. We often see lovely deer and stunning birds. We occasionally see bears and snakes and sometimes deal with pesky bugs and critters… including stink bugs and ticks. We ask that you respect the wildlife you may encounter and keep your distance. We also have plenty of bug repellant available for you to use.
