Stanley, Virginia, USA

This Soaring Custom-built Log Chalet is nestled on 6 acres near the Shenandoah National Park, letting you enjoy true Secluded Privacy.

On the spacious deck, you'll feel like you are living among the trees. Many of our guests spend much of their time relaxing there, making dinner on the gas grill and melting into the six-person Hot Tub.... Nothing compares to the night sky from the Hot Tub on the deck - so many more stars than you'll find in the city.

Rather have s'mores around the campfire? Go ahead, we provide a fire ring, and you are welcome to gather wood from the surrounding area. Or snuggle up inside by the gas log fireplaces and play one of the board games we provide. This is time to unplug from the constant rush of your workday.....

Two full baths and a complete kitchen will keep you in touch with the modern conveniences you need to enjoy yourself. We provide a set of bed linens for your stay, own towels toiletries and a fresh for each bath and sink.. Time for bed: the master bedroom is on the main level; there's another bedroom with sitting room and bath on the lower level.... Welcome the sunrise through the 6 foot quarter round windows from the loft bedroom that overlooks the main living area.

Hot tubs Cannot stay Hot in All Weather and all times. The Colder and windier it is the quicker the tub will cool.
Guest need to manage the temperature of the water by keeping the lid on when not in use. Below 50f if the lid is left off the tub will cool.
At 10f the tub will cool within an 1/2 hour or less according to the wind. At -4f hot tub time is very limited.

Turning the temperature up does not make a hot tub heat faster. Hot tubs heat at a constant rate of approximately 1f per hour. If the tub gets down to 96f it is time to put the lid back on or the heat will not recover during your stay.

We leave helpful point of use instructions. Guest are responsible to read, understand, and operate the tubs with the weather conditions, and capabilities of the tubs design.

- "The views from this property are absolutely insane! As soon as you walk in you are hit with stunning views and everything is just warm and welcoming. The driveway is steep so either have 4 wheel drive or just leave your car up top. Place was very clean and organized. If you are going for hiking, you have so many options it's insane. If you want to just get away and relax, it's perfect for that too. There is grocery stores and a Walmart about 15-20 minutes away so if you forget anything, it's not a big deal. Absolutely loved this house, thank you so much for letting us stay there!"

Old Farmhouse - Itty-bitty cottage - Rose River
Ski Chalet
Rose River

This small one room cottage with Queen Bed, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, and handicapped bath sits on the Main Lodge lawns adjacent to the Old Farm House compound that dates back to the early 1800s - the original farm house for the valley.

It is a bright, airy room, with its own porch, overlooking the back lawn, with a side view to the main lodge, 200 yards up the hill, and the parking area for the pool (busy area in the summer). Two easy chairs, a dresser, and bed side tables.

The space
It has a full handicapped bathroom with handicap ramp entrance via the porch. Parking is right out front with a walkway to the ramp.

The porch has two rockers and is not shared with any other guests.

It is a short walk to the pool (handicapped pool lift), the woods trails are right above it, and it is a short walk to the main lodge, its dining hall - family style old south cooking and seating at communal "get to know you" tables.

Pets welcome for additional fee-$35/per pet per stay due at checkin.

High Speed internet and Directv.

Basecamp for hikes into the Blue Ridge - up Old Rag and White Oak Canyon Trails, a 7 mile drive up Robinson way to the back entrance, avoiding the heavy traffic.

Fly fishing basecamp on our two mountain trout streams.

Our Restaurant is located in the Main Lodge, please check with the Reservation Office for serving times.

Guest access
The entire cabin and grounds. They are all yours. Plus you have our 1100 acres, our main lodge, restaurant and seasonal swimming pool, stables, and fishing on another stocked river.

During your stay
We are the Graves Family. We've been farming this land - the valley and mountain slopes - since 1740. We farm primarily apple orchards with some cattle, goats and hay making meadows. You'll see it all but let us know if you fancy a farm tour.

We are a family of six. Rachel and Jimmy are the Mom and Dad. You'll meet them down the road at our inn and family style southern restaurant, three meals a day for all our guests - along with the hikers, horse campers, fly fisher folk, and our farm team.

We're the Kids - Lynn, Lucky and our wives Tricia and Missy. You'll likely see us down at the restaurant lodge. We are frequently there with our team for meals - and joking with Margie and Margaret who run the Southern cooking kitchen stoves and bakeshop.

Just stop by and we'll fix you up with your next adventure here in our Blue ridge rural retreat.

Missy and Lucky, Tricia and Lynn
