Stay in a unique, one of a kind, tiny house with a wood-fired hot tub/plunge pool.

Views of the creek, perfectly set in nature, for you to check out of the rat race, when you check in. Palmer & Gunn Wee Tiny was built using reclaimed materials, vintage fittings, antique doors and windows, not to mention a beautifully curated collection of antique furniture & trinkets to create the most enchanting space for you to enjoy.

With high pitch ceilings, a queen sized bed, dressed with high quality French linen and an open-plan claw foot tub to relax in, this is a tiny house like no other.

Wee Tiny also boasts a charming veranda with an outdoor kitchen and an antique cast iron wood fired heater that overlooks the creek.

A beautiful spot by the fire to sit and mull the day or night away.

Austinville Valley is one of the Gold Coasts best kept secrets nestled below world heritage listed Springbrook National Park. The area boasts spectacular waterfalls, lush rainforest, ancient trees and impressive views.

So much to do close by, making this the perfect place to either do it all or do nothing at all. The choice is yours.

We have designed and built the Wee Tiny with the intention of being a sustainable space for people to enjoy without imposing heavily on the environment.

Palmer & Gunn Wee Tiny is off grid and has a composting toilet.
It is partially run on battery power, there is a USB port to charge your phone, however there are no plug-in appliances or power points.

Fear not we have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. We have included an outdoor kitchen with 3 burner gas stove and small oven, stove top kettle and toaster, a small bar fridge, if you think you’ll need more space be sure to bring an esky and ice, ample bench space to whip up a feast and all of your basic cooking utensils, glassware and crockery.
We have also included a few extra things to make your stay just a bit more special, including organic loose-leaf tea, organic ground coffee, salt, pepper and oil.

On your way we recommend stopping in at Mudgeeraba where you will find all the necessary grocery stores to stock up on for your stay.
If you are after something special, a trip to The Kitchens at Robina Town Centre is where you will find specialty deli items.

The tiny does not have a television or WIFI and phone reception can be limited. So enjoy a game of cards or a board game, spend quality time with your loved one.

We have also included a Bluetooth speaker to play your favourite tunes while you stay.

Please note that mobile phone reception can be hit and miss, we recommend downloading your music before you come.

So when you arrive switch off and unwind.

The interior has been fitted with a beautifully restored cast iron claw foot bathtub in the open plan living area. We have provided eco-friendly bath products for your stay.

You can either soak the night away in the tub or use the large rainfall shower head.

Unfortunately the tiny is not suitable for children or pets due to the dangers of the creek and livestock.

Please note the Wee Tiny can be booked for photoshoots at an additional fee and must be approved prior.

We are all about slow mornings, restful days to do whatever you wish to do in the moment and it's all yours to enjoy.

@palmerandgunn

You have Wee Tiny, the hot tub and the surrounding area all to yourself. Enjoy the magic. We like to give you space but we are available if needed.
We live on the property in the main farmhouse but like to let you do your own thing.
You may see us out and about working with the animals feel free to say hi, if you would like. Please note that though most days are filled only with the sound of birds and the creek running that our property is situated between the creek and a sealed rural no through road, so you may hear cars, motorbikes, slashing & or farm animals.

Wee Tiny is perched right on the creek.

There is a small set six stairs with no handrail to enter the tiny.

We are located on a farm; we have cows & honeybees on the property. There is also a potential that you may come into contact with an array of wildlife, please consider if this is going to be an issue for you before booking.

Handcrafted Glamping Zome Surrounded by Rainforest.
Cabin
Neranwood, Queensland, Australia

Our Zome is a completely unique glamping experience. The Zome was hand built by yours truly. The fully self contained space is nestled in the middle of the rainforest, offering complete privacy for couples. Hidden just far enough away from the Gold Coast to reconnect with nature and escape everyday life, but still close enough to enjoy everything the GC and Springbrook National Park have to offer.

Peaceful days turn into romantic nights as magical fairy lighting bathes every space. Enjoy the sounds and sights of the forest from the zome. There is wildlife about, so you may hear wallabies, bandicoots possums and owls rustling in the forest at night, varied birdsong in the morning.

The forest is cooling on summer days and the fireplace keeps things toasty warm in winter. Rest well in a comfortable queen bed with quality linens and an electric blanket in winter.

The kitchen is adequately equipped for preparing meals or visit one of the many restaurants 10 mins away in Mudgeeraba.

No glamping experience is complete without an alternative toilet. The innovative laveo toilet has to be the most civilised alternative on the market. Hot water is available in the kitchen and bathroom.

A few things to note:
1. LOCATION There is an undercover car space for Zome guests. From the carpark it is a 2 minute walk to the Zome. Most of the path is pretty flat, but there are a couple of steeper sections. It is definitely recommended to arrive in comfy shoes for the walk. If you give us an arrival time we can usually help carry your things to the Zome. Same with check-out. Head torches, umbrellas, and a trolley are located at the carpark for your convenience.
2. WEATHER/RAIN The Zome itself is completely weather proof. The kitchen and bathroom are undercover, but the outdoor seating area is not. A bonus is the running creek nearby during decent rain. A great time can be had even during inclement weather, but it is a glamping experience. Please be aware.
3. ACCESSING THE PROPERTY There is a bridge couple of minutes before our property. This bridge does flood in extreme rain events, restricting access in and out to the "long way round". (40 mins to Nerang) This occurs usually 2 to 3 times a year. At such times we are totally flexible with cancellation.
3.. INTERNET We have perfect Telstra reception, patchy Optus reception, no Vodaphone reception.

Springbrook Cockatoos Cabin opposite Purlingbrook
Cabin
Gold Coast

Take it easy at this tranquil getaway. Feel the busy-ness of the city fall away as you watch birds from the deck. Take a shortcut to Purlingbrook Walk across the road to do the circuit before any day-trippers arrive. This area is wonderful for immersing yourself in nature, whether it be by hiking, birdwatching, kayaking, rockclimbing, or simply doing some yoga on our generous deck amongst the trees. There is also a tennis court, skate park and playground nearby. Perfect for a weekend away.

The space
Cockatoos Cabin is set amongst the trees, across the road from a World Heritage Listed National Park. Guests can access Purlingbrook Walk across the road, with views from the top of the escarpment towards the Gold Coast and ocean.

Go left onto Purlingbrook Track to reach the bottom of the waterfall. From there, a shorter track takes you to the best swimming hole on the mountain, Warringa Pool. Then complete the Purlingbrook circuit to loop back to the house.

If you turn right onto Purlingbrook Track from the house (instead of left), you soon reach Tannanaba lookout (a great spot for a sunrise coffee or sunset vino). Another 5 minute walk from there takes you to the town centre, where Dancing Waters Cafe can provide great food, and the General Store can supply forgotten items.

The beauty of this location is that one of Queensland's iconic walks is on your doorstep, yet there is very little traffic - no parking headaches from weekend drivers. It is a secluded street with no houses across the road, and you truly feel in the forest while retaining all the comforts of home.

The house is very pleasant, with ample heating and a full kitchen, including a coffee machine, rice cooker, stab mixer, microwave, toaster and kettle. The fireplace is cosy in winter and there is a selection of board games and books in case of wet weather. Tennis racquets are provided for those wanting a hit at the charming local court, surrounded by tall trees and the sound of a stream nearby.

Each bedroom has direct access to a bathroom, which is convenient if two couples wanted to stay without sharing bathrooms. The house can also accommodate a family with 3 children, as the second bedroom has a Queen bed and a King Single bed. That bedroom has a low table with chairs for young kids to get busy at - away from parent chatter or the TV.

It is rejuvenating to laze about on the deck here, watching the cockatoos that often roost next door. We are happy to share our getaway with you and hope you enjoy the restorative peace and quiet of our little cabin.

For more information, visit cockatooscabin(dot)com or follow Springbrook Cockatoos Cabin on Insta.

Guest access
Guests will have the house to themselves.

Other things to note
There is no petrol station or large supermarket on the mountain. Guests should stock up on food and fuel before driving up to this secluded mountain hamlet.

On rare occasions, a guest has noted that the area has a 'musty' smell, which they correctly identify as being due to the forest environment. (The rainforest can be damp and muddy outside, with humid air.) I prefer to be upfront about this so that people know what to expect if they book our place. Mould is not a problem in our house because it is high off the ground and cleaned frequently, but that doesn't stop forest fungus pervading the rainforest air in general.

Also please note that we ask for a few small things to be done when guests leave, such as checking that the fireplace is safe, putting away kitchen items and emptying the rubbish bins. There is a local refuse station and it is common for Springbrook guests to remove their own rubbish when they leave. That's because local cleaners are in short supply and often don't have time for runs to the refuse station between property-cleans. Again, I prefer to be upfront about this.

The space
FernyBrook Cottage is fully self contained with a cosy wood fire (wood supplied) and reverse cycle air conditioning for those chilly nights. There is a comfy queens sized bed upstairs and the kitchen, bathroom (with shower/bath, washing machine and dryer) and living area are downstairs. A large, covered, sunny, back deck with a barbeque provides the perfect outdoor space for relaxation and bird feeding or for simply observing nature to the sounds and sights of the many brightly coloured parrots that feed from the seed trays on the verandah and in the garden. The cottage is set in a beautiful rainforest garden which leads down to an arched timber bridge over our own secluded creek and mini waterfall; providing a perfect place for meditation and quiet reflection.

Guest access
Guests have access to all the cottage facilities and our beautiful gardens in complete privacy. For your indoor entertainment there is a large selection of books, games, DVDs, and a flat screen TV .... or if you prefer you can just relax with a sherry in front of the fire. The nights at Springbrook are so quiet and the stars are so bright that we suggest you take a torch lit walk to see how different the night sky is away from the bright lights of the Gold Coast....plus you may also spot the little nocturnal animals that come out to feed.

Other things to note
When you come to visit Springbrook, please keep in mind that mountain weather can be cooler and wetter than on the coast so it's advisable to pack in some warm clothes, wet weather gear, suitable hiking shoes and a torch for night walking.

Also please note there is no petrol on the mountain, so you will need to ensure you have adequate fuel for your journey, with the nearest petrol stations also being at Nerang and Mudgeerabah. Please note access to Springbrook is via the Murwillumbah/Nerang Road and then Pine Creek Road, or from Mudgeerabah.

Telstra Mobile phones receive the best reception at Springbrook. You may need to go to high points or lookouts if you have trouble receiving mobile connections with other servers. There is a public phone at the Springbrook General Store nearby.

ABOUT SPRINGBROOK: Springbrook is in the Gold Coast hinterland, just 45 minutes from its famous surf and white sand beaches. "The Mountain" as the locals call it, is part of the ancient Gondwana Rainforests of Australia which, due to its recognition as one of the world's most outstanding and valuable places, was in 1994 officially declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Area. With its origins going back millions of years, it is home to an amazing variety of wildlife from the rare Albert’s Lyrebird, which is only found in Springbrook, to Crimson Rosellas, Satin Bowerbirds, Lorikeets, Whipbirds, Parrots, Robins, Kookaburras, Koalas and Pademelons. Amidst the rainforests, the plant life is similarly spectacular with many rare, endangered and vulnerable species like the Springbrook Wedding Bush (Ricinocarpos Pinifolius), Tree Waratah (Alloxylon Pinnatum) and Clear Milk Vine (Marsdenia Longiloba). Springbrook is a forest wildness; part of an ancient volcano formed 23 million years ago, with views that stretch forever.

Nestled in the heart of the rainforests, Springbrook is a small, tight-knit, rural community. Between 700 to 1000 meters high at various plateaus, it looks out over a lush green canopy of rainforests to the magnificence of the Gold Coast, it’s golden sand beaches and the blue water horizon of the Pacific Ocean. This is why Springbrook, being the only Rainforest area on the Gold Coast, is often referred to as “the Green behind the Gold”.

Springbrook is a calm, quiet, relaxing and peaceful location of exquisite beauty. It is truly a very special place, populated by an eclectic mix of naturalists, botanists, environmentalists, farmers, doctors, lawyers, barristers, academics, musicians, artists, writers, generational families, young families, spiritualists, alternative lifestylers, retirees, bushwalkers and increasingly, by people seeking a slice of serene paradise in an ever-increasing fast, busy, noisy and stressful world.

Set within the World Heritage Listed National Park, Springbrook is also home to cool mountain streams, gorges and waterfalls as well as majestic tall trees, palms, ferns and other plants that can only to be found in Australian Rainforests.

Here are 3 interesting facts about Springbrook.

Fact 1: It is the most extensive area of subtropical rainforests in the World.

Fact 2: Few places on Earth contain as many plants and animals that still remain relatively unchanged from their fossilised ancestors.

Fact 3: Many of Springbrook’s waterfalls, picnic areas and lookouts bare the original names handed down by the Yugambeh Aboriginal people, the first human inhabitants of the area who thousands of years ago recognised the sacred nature of these ancient lands.

The mountains await you!!

THANKYOU: Thank YOU for choosing to stay at Purling Brook Falls Retreat. We plan to make your stay most enjoyable. Naturally, if there is anything else you’d like to know, just ask :-)

With kindness ... Graham, Nicole & Teddy

Water & Woods - Cosy Cabin Getaway
Cabin
Gold Coast

Take my hand and let me guide you to the Water through the Woods…

Water & Woods is a self-catered cabin of cosiness, nestled under a canopy of trees, and just steps away from the Purling Brook Falls hiking trails. Here is your opportunity to relax… or be active – surrounded by a very special part of the Gondwana rainforest, less than 50 minutes from the hustle and bustle of those bright lights of the Gold Coast. Yes, that’s what you’re seeing from the breakfast bar.

The space
Lots of places - indoors and outdoors - to curl up with your favourite book, or daydream the hours away, but know you’ll find it hard to look away from the view. Our outdoor bath is undercover but gives new meaning to ‘forest bathing’ and even the queen-sized bed overlooks more layers of green. There’s an indoor fireplace, an outdoor chiminea, and dining options inside, on the decks, at the breakfast bar, in the backyard, or at the lookout, using our portable picnic set. Our kitchen is basically prepped and ready for your use, whenever you can tear yourself away from the views.

Guest access
Park onsite in our cosy carport, across the road from the National Park and views to the distant sea. Front access to the first floor is via a full staircase with a railing, or you can climb 4 stairs to the back entrance. Once inside, the floor is covered with a number of rugs. Please view the photos to check that you will be able to fully enjoy these spaces.

The small area behind the cabin between the big trees and the water tank can get slippery. Guests are kindly advised to use the steps and stick to the pathways in the backyard to avoid falls, slips or injuries. Similarly, underneath the cabin is not designed for guest access. Thank you.

Other things to note
Water & Woods is your perfect chance to disconnect from your busy lives, with no TV and limited phone access. Instead, immerse yourself where the soft breeze carries the music of dancing waters and the trees whisper of times long gone. Exhale. Listen. Be.

Our nearest petrol station and grocery store is in Nerang, or Mudgeeraba, about 40 minutes away. Make sure you come prepared to fully self-cater all meals.

The Water & Woods space is for residential accommodation only. Outside visitors and location usage will be considered by prior arrangement, only. We are so close to the National Park, you can understand that preserving the quiet, the ambience and the respect of all our dear neighbours is paramount. Thank you for understanding that Water & Woods is not the place for a party and outside noise is discouraged from 10pm.

Our little cabin relies on rainwater, filtered through our shady treetops. This means that our water has a tannin colour and won’t run clear, even though it’s absolutely fine to drink, due to the regular maintenance of our filtration system. It’s a reminder of what happens when Water & Woods come together…

Speaking of our lovely bath, we provide organic bath soap to whip up a lather (go on, let it rip), but we ask that you avoid using harsh chemicals (including glitter... hee, hee) as our grey water system feeds our rainforest back yard, and we don't want our plants or critters getting sick.

We also need to remind guests that our bio-cycle toilet system requires gentle care. Other than toilet paper, please do not flush anything you haven’t already eaten or drunk. There is a waste bin for sanitary products in the bathroom.

Bushwalkers are just a few metres away from you and are mostly unaware of your proximity – so you could unintentionally hear their conversations, their oohs and aahs.

Please consider if potential contact with wildlife is going to be an issue for you before booking, and remember, in such dense forest, there is always a risk of fire. Please consult Queensland Fire Service for advice on current fire conditions before visiting. If you decide to postpone or cancel your visit due to severe, extreme, or catastrophic fire danger, you will receive a full refund.

Unfortunately, Water & Woods is not suitable for children or pets. Thanks for your understanding!
