We love the funky feel of this old school converted into a very hip hotel for young people on a tight budget and old codgers like us that want to really experience a city. Check in was an issue, I couldnt get someone to open the door for me and when they did they couldnt find my reservation from expedia so I couldnt check in. I came back later around 7 and noone was there to let me in my room and my italian friend had to call the phone line literally over 25 times to get someone to answer. Finally someone answered and no one actually ever came in person to give me my key but apparently they left my room unlocked with the key in it. So there is not actually 24/7 reception. However, this inconvenience was made up for by the fact that the bar downstairs is the coolest underground bar club scene I’ve ever been to. They had a DJ playing trippy electronic music and locals came to dance all wiggly it was awesome. I hope to visit this bar again if I ever come back to Florence. But on the other hand, if you are a loud sleeper, the bar gets pretty loud and you can hear it in the room. "

- "cheap and cheerful" - "The room was great. Very convenient location. Check on person explained all I needed to know. There were 2 issues. The first night the remote control for the heating worked well but on the 2nd night it didn't and it was late on a Saturday. There was no support to sort it out and it was cold during the night. The bigger problem was the noise. On both nights there were was significant noise coming from large groups of youth enjoying themselves in the Piazza Mercurio. It was impossible to sleep until 2am! I was not told about this and I was not given a quiet room. Not even ear plugs. Awful, no relaxation at all. Very tired. Also the neighbours made lots of noise at checkout at 6am on Saturday early morning. "
