The staff was friendly, no matter who I interacted with through the week. It seems the hotel and furniture was recently updated so things are modern and I found, very clean. This is key for me to feel comfortable. I thought it was also a good value (I searched on Hotels.com by reviews and price. ). The hot tub and pool and grilling area were bonuses as well as the community living rooms with comfy furniture and TVs in case you did not want to hang out in the room (oh, and also the outdoor patio with tables and chairs). It is across the street from a not-so-nice mobile home park and around the bend from the marina. It has immediate access to Coast Highway and is within a few miles of the bustling Oceanside Pier. Park near the pier for shops, bike rentals, beach fun, McDonald's, fishing, Ruby's Diner, surfing, fire pits, and palm tree-lined stretches of sand. For Carlsbad and other beaches head straight down Coast Highway/Carlsbad Boulevard. Our large room was very stylish (contemporary) and comfortable. It had a mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker with coffee, LG LCD TV (about 42"), huge granite shower, small desk, air conditioner, and two queen beds. Elevators take you everywhere and pass cards provide easy entry to rooms, pool, small fitness center, and entry doors from below ground parking. Parking was adequate, but it could be a problem when the hotel is at full capacity. The heated pool and bubbling spa were small, but only one other person came to the pool area between 9:00-9:40 p.m. while we were there. Towels were provided. There are poolside bathrooms and a shower. Front desk clerks were friendly, informative, and efficient. We only stayed one night, but I would definitely stay there again."
