Specific Information of About This Home:

This is a daylight basement apartment/home with excellent lighting and high ceilings. There is a private separate entrance on the lake side of the home with a private patio that features outside seating/table and two yellow kayaks with life jackets available to explore the lake. Paddle boards and additional blow up water floats are also available upon request. There is also a secure swimming area and lake deck that features the best views of Mt. Rainier. The great room has wonderful lighting with lake views, gas fireplace to keep you warm in winter months and 42 inch screen TV with access to basic cable and Netflix waiting for your viewing pleasures. The full kitchen is connected to the great room with a dining table. There is a larger bedroom that has both a queen bed and one single bed, the second bedroom has larger windows with a queen bed. If you need additional beds you can always use the queen pull out couch in the great room. Bath towels and beach towels provided during your stay. Outdoor and indoor toys provided for quality family time.

Ten Important Things to Consider Before Booking:

1. Host lives on the upper level of this home. As a result, you may hear some level of living noise. There is a secured locked door between two levels thus there are two different defined and separate living spaces in this home.

2. No pets allowed. We have two lovely dogs that may bark when you first arrive, but easily calm down. They are familiar with others living in daylight basement apartment. However, they will not stop barking if there are other animal noises so please leave your pets at your home.

3. Owners may use the yard to access owners second dock with neighbors. Generally, when the sun is out, people are out enjoying the lake on neighboring docks.

4. There is a limit of 5 consistent guests while staying at the lake. You are all our guests, and we want you to enjoy all of what the lake offers. However, please do not bring additional guests to this property. Your guests are not our guests. If this rule is not followed you will be asked to leave.

5. Please note that Lake Tapps is a reservoir that is lowered from late October through late April each year, and motorboat access is unavailable during these months. The lake level lowers approximately 3-5 feet.

6. Please enjoy the lake, but use the lake is at your own risk. Follow all water safety guidelines and supervise all children while outside. Some children and adult lifejackets are available for use but may want to bring your own for proper fit. Life jackets are to be used for all children who do not swim or when using Kayaks and SUP on the lake.

7. It is our goal to provide a high level of privacy for guests. The yard is large and there is a private patio area with seating area and hot tub for guest’s private use. There is also a small dock for your private use while you are our guests, however there is not room for guest private motorboat.

8. There is a limit of two cars. There are two average size car parking locations in the gravel area beside the road. Parking location is about 500 feet from the door and all guests need to be able to navigate 5 steps to the lake side entrance of home.

9. There is no washing machine or clothes dryer located in apartment/home to wash clothing.

10. Quiet Time is between 10:00 pm and 8:00 am. We want to respect our neighbors and all the neighboring dogs that hear the noises that travel across the lake.

If you are coming for the lake, you have many parks to choose from.. our private waterfront is not included in this rental and there is no access allowed. Outdoors find a nice outdoor table, chairs and a seating area for the gas BBQ area.
Inside our beautifully appointed home you’ll find ample seating for your family. a gas fireplace, forced air heat and AC, a large cable TV, Keurig coffee, microwave, convection air fryer, a beautiful kitchen and luxurious bedding. We can provide a pack and play and highchair. The second bedroom has two twin beds. All the rooms are large and comfortable. The outdoor area is a great place to hang out, eat and BBQ. Working as you travel? We have high speed internet.
The guest house is on the north end of beautiful Lake Tapps. You’ll be just inside a private gated residence. Your house is not on the water, but you can see the water from your house. There are parks nearby to visit should you desire to. Access the property easily from SeaTac international airport. Drive through the entry gate to the first door on your left.

This lakefront, two-story home truly lives up to its name and we can't wait for you to find out! Enjoy a prime location with access to Lake Tapps – there is a path from the deck to the waterfront, with a dock, fire pit, and boat launch.

Upon entering the first floor of this family-friendly home you'll first notice the well-furnished living room, a great place for the family to relax and unwind together. You'll find a comfortable sectional sofa, two armchairs, and a wall-mounted flat screen Smart TV with cable. From the living room, you'll have direct access to the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped to make cooking a breeze. Stainless steel appliances, including a French door fridge, dishwasher, oven, stove, and K-Cup coffee maker will be just ideal for family meals. There is a small kitchenette dining table to seat four adding more dining space to the eight-person dining table. **2024 Update: We now have Air Conditioning for those hot summer days!**

The first floor offers direct access to the partially covered, lakefront deck, which offers a great spot to enjoy the sparkling waters of Lake Tapps. Let your loved ones lounge at the seating area while you heat up the gas grill and treat them to delicious grilled patties and veggies.

Back inside, this level also boasts a laundry room with a washer/dryer combo, and an office right off the front door to get some work done (if needed). Upstairs, you'll find all three bedrooms and two bathrooms (one in the master and one in the hallway between the two guest bedrooms). Each bedroom is stocked with linens and luggage racks for your convenience. All bathrooms are stocked with the necessities as well as hair dryers, soap and shampoo, and towels. The master bedroom has its own mini coffee bar & balcony with a bistro chair set for you to enjoy your morning coffee as the sun comes up over the lake. From the balcony, you can see stunning views of Mt. Rainier if it's a clear day!

Things to Know:
As this is an older home, with extensive woodwork throughout, the home is not accessible and does have steps down into the living room. We are working to make the property more accessible though so stay tuned!
Two kayaks available with life jackets for your use during your stay, located in the garage. In the summer months, swim in the lake or paddle our sit-on-top kayaks along the extensive 45 mile shoreline. The lake has many inlets and interesting places to explore, and much of it offers gorgeous views of Mt. Rainier. Please note that Lake Tapps is a reservoir that is lowered from late October through late March each year, and motor boat access is unavailable during these months. The lake level lowers approximately 3-10 feet. Diving and jumping into the lake should not be done to avoid injury.

There is a private dock and swimming is allowed. Dock is for small boats only as there is no way to get a boat from driveway to lake. Use the dock to enter the lake with kayaks. We discourage the use of motor boats/jet skis in this area if you are not familiar with this particular section of the lake. Small non-motorized vessels are more suitable in this part of the lake.

Liability Waiver: You agree to waive any claim whatsoever against the Host for accidents or claims arising from accessing the Lake (swimming or using any floating devices, e.g kayaks, inflatables, etc. OR motorable devices, e.g boats, jet skies, etc.) when you book property. All Guests in your party acknowledge and agree that they have seen this page and read and understand this waiver. When you first arrive and put in your personal access code - you will enter the foyer, which has a fantastic view of Lake Tapps and opens to the wooden patio.

Next to the entry (on your right), you will see the half bathroom followed by the main bedroom (Cal King bed) with fireplace and attached bath complete with a walk-in shower, jetted bathtub, and his &her sinks.

Next to the entry (on your left), you have a hallway leading to the laundry room with a full washer and dryer unit. Continuing down the hallway, you will enter the tile-floored kitchen and dining room with unobstructed lake views.

Connected to the foyer and dining/kitchen is the living room (2 comfy pullout couches, coffee table, 75-inch TV, and fireplace) with beautiful views of Lake Tapps. The foyer, living room, dining space, and kitchen form a spacious, connected hall providing unobstructed views of Lake Tapps from every corner. The living space opens to a large wooden deck with a sun umbrella, BBQ, and patio furniture. The deck provides access to the lawn and beautiful Lake Tapps.

Past the left entry hallway is a set of stairs leading you downstairs to a second spacious living room with a 55-inch TV, board games, and two comfy couches. The bottom of the staircase (on your right) opens to a wood-floored foyer that connects to bedroom 2 (Queen bed + lake view), bedroom 3 (Queen bed), full bath, a kitchenette with refrigerator and sink, and sliding door giving access to the concrete patio, lawn and to the beautiful Lake Tapps. Each room is tastefully decorated for a warm and cozy ambiance.

The backyard has a large grass area divided into two halves by a concrete athletic court. You can play basketball, pickleball or volleyball.

Lake Tapps is a reservoir in Pierce County, Washington. Lake Tapps is about 4.5 square miles (12 km) in surface area and has about 45 miles (72 km) of shoreline. Please note that the reservoir water level is lowered from late October through late April each year (approximately 5-10 feet), and motorboat access is unavailable during these months.

The Sunset Lake Retreat backs to gorgeous Lake Tapps, and it is a great place to swim, float, and enjoy water activities. A short distance from the end of our dock, there are submerged stumps just below the surface. Diving and jumping into the lake should not be done to avoid injury. We discourage using motor boats/jet skis in this area if you are not familiar with this particular section of the lake. Small, non-motorized vessels are more suitable in this part of the lake. Because it is on the first floor, please be aware that you may hear evidence of family living, such as footsteps and other noises above you.

It is separated from this listing by the garage so there is no lack of privacy.

The road leading to the unit is a dead-end road which makes it perfect for morning or evening walks as there is little traffic. For bicyclists or walkers, on the other side of the highway at the beginning of the road leading to the property, is the Foot Hills Trail, which is a paved public path that runs from Puyallup to Orting.

The Cabana is on the waterfront of beautiful Lake Tapps. It's at waters edge inside a private gated residence. Access the property easily from SeaTac international airport. Drive through the entry gate past the first residence and park infront of the second residence. Well send you a picture of your parking place after you book. You’ll find a private path to the Cabana just past the carport. Go through the gate and follow the path down the incline to the private waterfront area.
Other things to note
Outside you’ll find the waterfront, the kayaks, the fire bowl and the dock. The hot tub is just out your door. Enjoy a late night tub. There is an outdoor fireplace, outdoor BBQ and kitchen complete with fridge, sink and ice maker. The fire bowl wis perfect for smores or just conversation. Lake Tapps is a reservoir and is regulated by a PUD. From November to March they draw the water down 3 feet. This means during this season you will walk out a few feet to get to the water, should you desire to kayak. We have life jackets on the south side of the Cabana. Use these for Kayaking or floating around. During warmer months it’s perfect here for sunbathing, swimming and boating. Ask about renting our wakeboard boat if you desire to play or cruise. Driving to Mt. Rainier? We are just about 1 hour from the Crystal mountain ski resort turn off and just 75 minutes from the Sunrise entrance to the National Park. Enumclaw, the Super Mall or the Casino's are all just a few minutes away. 3rd or 4th person has an extra charge of $30 per person per night...

Wood is available at $5 a bundle.

Other things to note
There is room for seven guests with the airbed. I have rented this unit twice to groups of seven and they said it was fine. However, please note that there is only one bathroom, and in order to have enough hot water for all guests to shower, the showering times would need to be staggered, such as 3 or 4 in the morning and the rest in the evening. The space is tight with the airbed on the floor of one bedroom.

WIFI and Smart TV for you to log onto your favorite streaming services or enjoy the provided Netflix account or play one of the many Board and card games provided. Enjoy the Tuff Spa hot tub and seating area under the cover of the deck. Relax in the new Adirondacks around the fire pit after a fun day in the mountain.

You access the unit down a short steep path that could be considered difficult for someone with unsteady balance, elderly or disabled.

Guests have a designated parking spot under the carport located next to the house. You will access the unit by going down an incline into the backyard. The sunken backyard gives guests privacy from the neighbors.

The unit is located in Buckley, WA with great outdoor access -Crystal Mountain and Mt. Rainier are easy drives. Access beautiful hikes in less than an hour. We ski Crystal every Friday, leave the area at 6 a.m., and are at the resort no later than 7:30 a.m. Traffic does back up to the ski resort so the earlier you leave the better the commute.

The schedule is blocked during the work week due to my availability to clean and turn the unit for weekend stays. Please feel free to message me about longer stays and we can have a conversation about the possibility of opening the calendar for a longer stay if needed.

SEATAC Airport is located 33 miles away - in light traffic this takes 1 hour. In peak traffic time budget 2 hours.

Downtown Tacoma is also 33 miles away - in light traffic it takes 30 minutes to access. In peak traffic time budget 1 hour.

Downtown Seattle (Pikes Place Market) is 42 miles away -in light traffic this will take 1 hour 15 minutes.

This is a space to relax! With two fireplaces, a hot tub, and an unencumbered view of the lake and surrounding trees, this private guest suite will let you soak up the luxury and refresh from daily life. The circular floorplan offers a large and fully-stocked kitchen, luxury custom-designed bathroom with laundry machines, quiet sleeping area with fireplace and super-comfy bed, living room with fireplace, dedicated work station, and a sitting area to maximize the beautiful view of the lake below. Catch up on reading, roll out a yoga mat, or just take a well-deserved nap - here is a place to indulge in comfort while retaining the amenities of work-from-home and daily life.

The lake is stocked with fish each year, and is a private and highly-acclaimed location for fishing. It's not uncommon to see a bald eagle catching fish too! Take a paddle out in the lake and you will see tons of wildlife, a peek-a-boo of Mount Rainier, or just listen to the sounds of water and sky. Guests are welcome to use the dock, boats and paddles - please have children wear supplied life jackets, and return equipment to its original location.

The guest suite is on the first floor of the home, with direct access to the patio and hot tub. You will have the entire floor/guest suite to yourself, with private keypad entrance. Because it is on the first floor, please be aware that you may hear evidence of family living, such as footsteps and other noises above you.

Plentiful parking at street level is a ~2 minute walk down to the guest suite. The walk is on an uneven dirt trail. Hosts are happy to help with luggage upon arrival/departure! (Just coordinate with us in advance, please.)

There are lots of board games in the game cabinet in the dining room.

The sliding glass door opens out to the beautiful lake view patio- where you can grill up dinner on the gas grill and enjoy meals on the outdoor patio table and chairs.

Now wander down to the lake- where you can use our tandem kayak or Standup paddle boards, go swimming in the lake and enjoy the water trampoline in the summer.

You can pull up a chair and watch the sunset and make a fire in the fire bowl lakeside (as long as there isn’t a burn ban) Bring your smores ingredients!

Life truly is better at the lake. We hope you enjoy your stay in the private waterfront suite. Enjoy the lake activities during the day and the beautiful sunsets by night.

This private suite is located in the entire downstairs and it is completely separate from the upstairs. It is not uncommon to hear footsteps and muffled voices from above if the residents are home. Although we are mindful that their are guests downstairs and try to keep sounds to a minimum.

Just a 45 minute drive to Seattle, or 30 minutes to Tacoma. Less than an hour away from Mount Rainier and Crystal Mountain ski resort. 5 minute drive to Kelly Farm.

Nestled in a prime location with no-bank waterfront access, where you can enjoy kayaking, swimming and fishing right from your doorstep. Relax on the dock, paddle across the serene waters, or take a refreshing dip in the lake. It’s the perfect spot for a peaceful and entertaining retreat.

The space
The house is situated at the heart of Interlake island on Lake Tapps, offers privacy and a peaceful environment, perfect for escaping the busy pace of daily life. It is located only an hour away from Seattle, and it is also close to many grocery stores (10-15 min away) with DoorDash and other delivery services available.

Inside:

A modern fully stocked Kitchen, spacious living room, Smart TV, WiFi, books, and board games.
There is a washer and dryer on site.

Bedrooms:
- The main floor features a spacious primary bedroom with a king-size bed and a living room with large windows that frame the picturesque waterfront views, allowing natural light to flood the space.

- Upstairs, the loft area has a queen-size bed, providing extra space for guests. Please note that when going up the stairs to the loft, children under 6 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

The main building is entirely yours to use without any interruptions throughout your stay. Feel free to make yourself at home.

Guests have no access to the garage. You can park at the side of the garage.

Other things to note
1. The checkout time is 11 AM. Please ensure you depart on time. Thank you for your understanding!

2. Our home is in a quiet neighborhood, and we do NOT allow parties or any form of noisy gatherings. The maximum occupancy is 5 guests at any time (excluding children under 2). Any visitors who are not included in the original reservation must be approved in advance. Quiet hours are from 9 PM to 7 AM. If house rules are violated and result in neighbor complaints, we may have to cancel the reservation.

3. Kayaks, paddle board, and all other equipment are provided at the guest's own risk. All equipment should be carefully examined for safety issues and only used by experienced boaters. Life jackets must always be worn. Please note that these amenities are seasonal and availability may vary depending on weather and water conditions.

4. We have a Ring doorbell at the front door and two security cameras near the garage for security purposes.

5. No smoking. No pets.
