The Lake House is updated and equipped with everything you will need for your getaway - 4 spacious bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms with shower/tub combos and one half bath.

Enjoy cooking meals in the full kitchen with everything you will need to prepare and share meals at home. The kitchen is stocked with everything from plates and glasses to cookware, serving dishes, utensils, toaster, blender. Nothing has been overlooked!

The kitchen has a Keurig coffee maker that will make individual cups of coffee or up to a 12 cup pot of coffee for a crowd! We include a starter supply of K-cups, sugar packets and creamers as well as coffee filters for making a pot of coffee. You will need to supply ground coffee and any additional coffee/sugar/creamer you will need beyond what is provided.

Our bathrooms are stocked with towels, hand towels and wash cloths as well as a starter supply of toilet paper - 2 rolls per bathroom.

The living room has a 46 inch Smart TV - bring your own password to login to your Netflix, Prime, Hulu accounts. There is no cable TV. You will need to login into your personal streaming accounts.

The kids will LOVE the retro arcade! And the adults will be transported back in time while playing the games. The arcade has Terminator II, Mars Attacks Pinball, Ms. Pacman cocktail game table, and Wheel of Fortune for endless fun in the evenings or rainy days.

Take the kayaks out on the lake (April - October) or bring your pole and go fishing!

Grill outside on the deck overlooking the lake and enjoy dinner under the stars on the picnic table. Finish the day with a fire in the Fire pit or a soak in the Hot Tub. It doesn't get any better!

There are two security cameras located on the property for your security and mine. The first camera is located on the front corner of the home facing the driveway and the second camera is located on the beam above the porch facing the fire pit and the dock. All audio is turned off and these cameras do not face the inside the property.

Whether it is visiting one of the Chesapeake Bay beaches only a 3 minute drive from the home, or watching for wildlife in our yard (it is common to see deer, rabbits, birds, etc), life in Calvert County will slow you down and help you take a much needed break from the daily grind. And you don't even have to cross the Bay Bridge!

So, why "waffle house"? You'll receive a welcome basket upon arrival which includes goodies like Old Bay chips, bottled water, and you guessed it....waffle mix! We have a Belgian waffle maker for your use during your stay located next to the refrigerator.

Ready for activities? Other than hunting for fossils and sharks' teeth at our beaches, we have many amenities at the house including a volleyball/badminton net, tree swing, hammocks, horseshoes, fire pit, basketball hoop, outdoor and indoor toys, books + board games, an air hockey and mini pool table, and much more. Beach gear (toys, umbrella, sifters, and more) and child sized fishing poles are available for you to borrow on your outings.

Our community boasts 2 private sandy beaches for swimming and beach fun, Lake Lariat for fishing & boating, hiking trails, playgrounds, and campgrounds.

Our backyard extends into the woods behind the house. Feel free to explore the backyard woods (there are mulched paths in a loop throughout). Our property is marked by orange ropes on the sides and a dry creek bed at the rear. **As always when you are hiking, be aware of your surroundings. There may be poison ivy, bugs, snakes, etc... you're out in the wilderness after all! Enjoy, but take care.**

**SUMMER STAYS** Full week rentals only (Check in and out on Saturdays very week). Mid June through Mid August.

I am an experienced host and do my best to be accommodating to anything my guests need, but know that I and my house are imperfect and I do not have the resources of a large hotel chain. I am quite forgiving of small issues that come up, especially if you just let me know about them ahead of time. The Neighborhood:
Our home is located in a water access community. You will have access to the community beaches.

The neighborhood is laid back and friendly. You can bring your fishing pole and walk down the street (2 minute walk) to the river and fish off the rocks!

Other Things to Note:
Please understand that we are sharing our lake cabin as a relaxing getaway with family and friends and fun in nature and on the water. This space is not meant for parties. We require that quiet hours are observed after 10pm out of respect for our neighbors and in keeping with the peaceful nature of our community.

For additional peace of mind, we highly recommend purchasing travel insurance as we unfortunately cannot act as insurance in the case of unforeseen circumstances. We do uphold our cancellation policy. Thank you for your understanding!

Property has a deep water dock with available boat docking, boat lift and jet ski lift. Inflatables and Paddleboard are available as well as a floating mat for enjoying the water. Crab pots are available for crabbing or fishing form the end of the dock. Waterfront area in front of the dock is in a no-wake zone for comfort and safety to swim and relax.

Enjoy easy access to Solomon's island for plenty of restaurants, fishing pier, boat rentals, and fishing charters. Also, access to national parks like Calver Cliffs or a very quiet neighborhood to walk and bike.

Boat ramp is also available about 7 houses down (a little further by car). Plenty of room to park a boat trailer on the property.

Bring your rods, there are plenty of fish around, and a pile of nets, minnow traps, etc. to keep the kids busy. Indoors, you'll find upper-end furniture, good wifi, even a closet full of rain gear should the weather go foul.

With a beach right behind my house. only eight miles from Solomon's Island. This is a great find. You can chill on the deck, cook some barbe on the grill, or take a stroll to the bay behind the house. You'll have all the amenities you need to unwind and enjoy your stay from nicely furnished clean accommodations to the flat screens to close out the day and catch up on your latest shows.There's even a tv on the deck. Just relax and enjoy life. Grocery stores and a cute local winery are about 3 to 5 miles down street as well incase you forget or need something extra. - "Our group really enjoyed the house and the hospitality. There were several nice touches to make us feel welcomed." - "We were in town for a reunion and this was a nice alternative to the local hotels. Updates to the house were nicely done and I love that checkout was simplified to two to three tasks, not a whole laundry list. If I had two suggestions, one would be that the plug-ins were too many and too strong - we considered opening a window for some relief but did not since we were out at the reunion most of the day. But only one per floor would likely be enough although the house is so clean (five stars!) I’m sure it would smell fresh either way. The second is that from the description, it seemed like the beach was nearly right out back but it was down the road and not quite right for swimming or hanging out. That was the main thing we were looking forward to but after driving by it, we decided to skip it. The first night we were there, a county truck came by to spray for mosquitos, which caught us off guard. As a heads-up, the bunk beds are really better suited for kids, so keep that in mind if planning for teens to sleep there. The host thought of almost everything - from beach towels to dish soap and cooking supplies, and we really appreciated that extra bit of hospitality. Overall this was a nice place for our family to stay and was convenient to our reunion. "

In cooler months, there's a ventless bioethanol fireplace so you can enjoy cozy evenings by the fire. On the main level, there are 3 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom. The lower level is above grade and has a walk out to a screened porch and additional outdoor space with a grill, swing, dining area and fire pit. Also on the lower level is a large primary bedroom and a full bathroom. There is also a large lower level recreational room with 65”television and game room. Home is on a quiet cul de sac.

Guest have access to the entire house. There are a few locked owner’s closets.

Driftwood Haven is on the Calvert Cliffs which affords stunning views but is not suitable for young children. Areas near the cliffs are marked with signage. Guests are strictly prohibited from entering or hiking in the wooden areas on the sides and in front of the house for these reasons.

*Solomons Island FIREWORKS VIEW* Rousby Hall is located on the Patuxent River, outside of Solomons Island with a view of the river's opening to the Chesapeake Bay. The 16-acre property is adjacent to our very private conservation area that borders our 300 foot private beach. The year-round property has a pier, in-ground pool (May-October) with amazing river views. Family-style dinners by Chef Robert Wiedmaier upon request.

Rousby Hall of Calvert County is a historic home that has been beautifully maintained and updated over the decades for modern conveniences. The eat-in kitchen seats 6-8 and there is a large picnic table poolside including Weber gas and charcoal grills and a fire pit. This is an all-year-round property with fabulous bird watching, fishing off the pier, playing in the sand on the private beach, bonfires and grilling, boat watching, kayaks for four, beautiful sunsets on the Patuxent River and nearby hiking at Calvert Cliffs. One of the bedrooms is on the main floor, the other three are reached by stair. This is a dedicated rental property; spacious, free of clutter and other people's personal knick-knacks, more like an upscale, country, inn. There is an office with a desk, printer, office chair and internet. Pool is open May through October and heated when outdoor temps drop in September/October. The pool has an electric pool cover that is kept closed during the off-season, when heated or when guests want it closed for safety reasons during pool season. At Rousby Hall, we do not use on grass, plants, gravel, any glyphosate-based herbicide products on the property.

The barn/garage houses the owner's lawn equipment and studio and will have full access at any time to remove and use the equipment. Renters will be allowed to store bikes/toys in the garage. The owners also keep a boat on the Rousby Hall pier boat lift and maintain two crab pots and have access to it at all times. Guests are not to board the boat or operate the lift. The owners also own a beehive and will access property for maintenance. The beehive is located far away from the home and will not impact guests. Owners will also service the pool, clean skimmers, etc weekly.

Other things to note
We maintain two crab pots on the Rousby Hall pier and sell crabs locally and to Air guests. We also provide river Pontoon rides for up to 8 guests, 75 minutes, $200.

I like to greet guests upon arrival briefly to show them around when I'm available, tho I live about 30 minutes away. There is a keypad lock on the front door to allow self check-in also. Quiet time is 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Please use ear buds if watching media after 10.

Our spacious basement retreat, located in the quiet waterfront neighborhood of Drum Point, 10 minutes from Solomons Island, with 10' ceilings and a private entrance is steps away from the lake. You can relax on the dock in the Adirondack chairs, fish and kayak (available on premise) on the lake or hike the surrounding trails. There is no swimming in the lake but you can swim in the Bay. You can access the Chesapeake Bay beach which is a short, peaceful three minute walk. The private, secluded patio allows siestas, bird watching and becoming one with nature. Eagles, ospreys and herons are plentiful and make beautiful subjects if you enjoy photography. Enjoy the fire ring well stocked with wood and the charcoal grill (charcoal is NOT supplied). Professional photographer available on request at time of reservation to capture special moments (additional fee).
Enjoy the warmth of our retreat, finished in warm woods and ceramic tile. There is a full kitchen, including stove, oven, full size fridge, microwave, furnished with pots/pans, plates, bowls, utensils and dishwashing supplies.

Rest easy in the queen size hybrid bed with memory foam topper while enjoying a view of the lake; linens and blankets supplied. A 50" Smart TV on a swivel arm can be viewed from bed or the sofa.

There is also a utility closet on basement level that host may infrequently access; it is NOT located in the studio and is accessed by an entrance that is NOT IN STUDIO. You may hear a door open/close.

Please note, as we are on well water, there may be a chance that there is a sulfur smell to the water. The water is safe to drink and use.

Welcome to our Southern MD beach house. This 3 bedroom and 2 bath home is situated on nearly 1.5 acres of property where you can breathe deep and take in the bay breeze. Whether it is visiting one of the Chesapeake Bay beaches only a 3 minute drive from the home, or watching for wildlife in our yard (it is common to see deer, rabbits, birds, etc), life in Calvert County will slow you down and help you take a much needed break from the daily grind. And you don't even have to cross the Bay Bridge!

The space
Lovingly renovated, this single level 1,920 square foot home will delight you at every turn. Rooms w/vaulted ceilings, a fun kids' loft space, nautical + airy design. Perfect for romantic getaways, small group retreats, or family trips.

So, why "waffle house"? You'll receive a welcome basket upon arrival which includes goodies like Old Bay chips, bottled water, and you guessed it....waffle mix! We have a Belgian waffle maker for your use during your stay located next to the refrigerator.

Ready for activities? Other than hunting for fossils and sharks' teeth at our beaches, we have many amenities at the house including a volleyball/badminton net, tree swing, hammocks, horseshoes, fire pit, basketball hoop, outdoor and indoor toys, books + board games, an air hockey and mini pool table, and much more. Beach gear (toys, umbrella, sifters, and more) and fishing poles are available for you to borrow on your outings. A rinse off station with hose shower and foot wash nozzle are located near the front door to clean off and cool down after a day at the sandy beaches.

Our community boasts 2 private sandy beaches for swimming and beach fun, Lake Lariat for fishing & boating, hiking trails, playgrounds, and campgrounds.

There may be poison ivy, bugs, snakes, etc... you're out in the wilderness after all! Enjoy, but take care.**

I am an experienced host and do my best to be accommodating to anything my guests need, but know that I and my house are imperfect and I do not have the resources of a large hotel chain. The space
There are 4 queen beds in the three separate rooms. The living room has a white leather set with 85” flat screen TV with an electric fireplace bluetooth speaker that automatically connects to the TV for a theater like feel while watching movies.

We provided a desktop by the kitchen counter for the guests’ use-use Bayhouse Guests profile.

Guest access
You will be able to use ALL parts of the main house except for the locked areas-one closet in the master’s bedroom, (there is still one more available for guests) bottom half of the pantry cabinet in the kitchen, (the upper one is available to use) and hallway utility closet. The garage is OFF LIMITS for the guests. It is strictly for owners use only. Please respect this and DO NOT attempt to go in WITHOUT PERMISSION .

Other things to note
Our property is NOT lake front property as listed in the categories. (Not sure what i did and cannot change it.)

However, its only 3 minutes drive from the house or 20 min leisurely walk-a perfect distance for exercise.

Seahorse Beach (our favorite) and Driftwood Beach are only 5 minutes and 4 minutes drive from the house respectively. If you love the water, it is a good idea to come prepared to swim. Bring your beach chairs, beach mat, beach towels, sunscreen and water toys if you have kids- boogie boards and floats, canopy or beach umbrella if you have them.
If you love to grill, you can use the charcoal grill and wooden table with benches by the beach. Bring your own grilling supplies. FCFS GO early to grab a spot.

Parking is right by the beach. No need to haul your supplies. Prop your trunk up and you are set. It is very convenient.

Note that the beaches are private and needs a visitor’s pass ( we provide this as part of the amenities ) to get in or you might get towed at your own expense or not allowed to go in.

The space
This is an open A-Frame style house with floor to ceiling windows on the back providing full view of Mill Creek behind the house.

The main bedroom is on the main floor with the bathroom directly across the hall. It has a king size bed.

Upstairs there's a loft bedroom with a half bathroom and claw foot tub. It has a king size bed.

Downstairs in the basement is the third bedroom with a queen bed and full private bathroom. Also in the basement are two sun rooms.

Note: There is a private pier and boat house, but currently it's not easy to get down there as there was some erosion that took out the stairs from the deck going down to the water. We're in the process of repairing and rebuilding; currently tied up in the government permit process. We've discounted prices until the new stairs are rebuilt after which the prices will increase with that amenity available again. We do provide you with a beach access hangtag to use the private community Drum Point beach and boat ramp just a mile or two down the road.

You may also notice a hot tub on the side of the lower deck that we will put back into operation once the rebuilding of the stairs and repairs to the deck are completed.

Please be sure to use the SIDE DOOR on the right side of the house, where the concrete driveway and shed are located, for entering your smart lock code. You're free to use the front door during your stay, but please remember to lock it after use.

Some amenities are not currently available to guests so have not been included as amenities in this listing. As described above, the stairs from the deck down to the pier and boat house washed away from erosion. The repair work will happen as soon as the required government permits for construction in the critical area are approved. Also, the hot tub is not in operation until then. Prices have been adjusted lower to reflect the absence of these and will be increased once available and added to this listing's provided amenities.

Guests have no access to the boat at the pier, or the.shed in the front yard. There's plenty room bring your boat and dock at the pier as well. If any Guests enters or disturbs the owner's boat, they will be immediately asked to leave the property with no refund.

The owners boat will be at the pier. There's enough room for another boat at the pier. We ask you do not enter or disturb the boat in any way. We will ask you to vacate the property immediately with no refund if this rule is broken.

Please be aware the entire backyard is directly on the water. Make sure all children have adult supervision at all times. There is no lifeguard, so swimming is at your own risk. Please do not run or horse play on the pier.

We do not provide towels. With the house being directly onto the water, we know there is no way to keep white towels pristine. So we ask you bring towels of your own for the trip.

Our spacious yet cozy lake house, nestled in the woods, has a gorgeous view of the pond and is just a short walk to a pristine beach that straddles the Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay. The cabin has been designed to be family friendly. After a comfy night in their bunkbeds, your kids can entertain themselves at the foosball/air hockey/pool game table, settle into the bean bag or hammock with a good book, scout for foxes or deer in the back yard, or enjoy an early breakfast at the counter. If they don’t feel like walking to the beach, they can ride in the little red wagon. And the big pier is perfect for bird-, boat- and plane- watching (Patuxent Naval Base is right across the water).

NOTE: The bunkbed room has a decorative opening to let in light from the skylights on the living room and to look down on the main floor. Please have a look at the pictures of the room to get an idea of what it looks like.

AGE 25 OR OLDER TO BOOK: The guest booking the property must be 25 years of age or older. The guest who books must stay at the property--you may not book for others if you do not intend to stay at the property.

SMOKING: Smoking is not allowed inside the house. You may smoke outside as long as you clean up after yourself. Please do not litter cigarette butts on the deck, in the yard, or anywhere else--butts must go in the trash after they have cooled off. If smoking inside the screened sunroom, please turn on the fan so that the smoke does not linger and leave a smell for our next guest.

SEPTIC SYSTEM: This house has a septic system. Grease and oil must never be allowed down any of the sink drains. Feminine hygiene products must be thrown away in a trash can and not flushed down a toilet. Never flush solid trash down the toilet or into a sink drain.

NO FIREWORKS: Fireworks are not allowed.

NO FIREARMS: Guests may not bring firearms or ammunition inside the house.

Our beachfront bay house with a gorgeous sandy beach was our weekend retreat for a decade until 2021 when we decided to make it available on a limited basis for guests who are willing to take as good care of it as we do. Only 1:15 from DC and northern Virginia, and 10 minutes away from charming Solomon’s Island, it is perfect for a quick getaway or a longer vacation that feels a world away from the big city.

The space
Stroll down the lawn right onto a beautiful sandy beach where you can kayak, paddle board, swim, build sandcastles, have a fire, stargaze, or just relax on our comfy chaise loungers or Adirondacks. Watch for resident bald eagles, herons and other wildlife on the property. There’s nothing quite like it within 1:15 minutes from Northern VA and DC. Our house is fully renovated and there is a lovely screened in porch for dining and lounging as well as a new patio with a fire table where you can take in the spectacular view.

On the main floor, there is the master bedroom with a luxurious king bed and en suite bath, another bedroom with a full size canopy bed, a hall bathroom with tub, and a charming tiny bedroom with a mini twin ideal for someone under 5’4”. On the lower level there is another large bedroom with a queen bed and gorgeous views, a fourth bedroom with a twin bed and desk, and another full bath with a roomy shower.

Cook delicious meals with local produce and seafood from the farmers market in our gourmet kitchen or on the Weber grill (we have virtually every kitchen tool you can imagine). Make s’mores in the fire pit (bring your own wood). Go paddling on the bay with the guest kayaks and SUPs. Play bocce, badminton or corn hole, fish from the beach, and go crabbing. The house has all the equipment you need.

If you’d like to venture out, Calvert Cliffs state park is only 5 miles away with terrific hikes to a beach where you can look for shark teeth. Solomons Island is within 10 minutes with great restaurants, fishing charters, boat/jet ski rentals, the Calvert County Maritime Museum, the Ana Marie Sculpture Garden, and more! Quaint Leonardtown with cute shops and one of our favorite restaurants is within 30 minutes. You won’t run out of things to do and there will be no crowds to battle or Bay Bridge to cross.

Our house comes with 3 bikes and helmets, a single kayak, a sit on top double kayak, two SUPs and life jackets (adult and child sizes) for guest use at their own risk.

Please note that no pets of any kind are allowed on the property because of host allergies. In addition, community members can use the beach but it is usually very quiet.

• This home has enjoyed a perfect 5-star history of Airbnb rentals with the previous host. We recently purchased this home and have enjoyed welcoming guests with the same hospitality, amenities, cleanliness, ease of communication, and responsiveness that earned the home a "Guest Favorite" and "Super Host" designation. We're delighted to report that we have been named a "Super Host" and boast a continued 5-Star rating from guests the past year.

• We love animals but we and many of our guests have allergies, so unfortunately we are unable to accommodate pets.

• The pool is relatively shallow throughout. It is 4 feet deep at either end, and slightly deeper in the middle at 5 feet. Good for laps and games but definitely no diving! Pool is not heated so temperature varies through the season but because it's shallow, tends to heat up nicely when it's warm out.

• House has 3 exterior security cameras at the front door, side (garage) entrance, and back patio. The back patio camera can be turned off by guests during their stay by unplugging. There are no interior security cameras.

• Interior furniture and decor is being updated so you may find some minor differences from photos when you check-in.

• Bath and beach towels and bed linens provided. There are 4 beach chairs, kids' sand buckets and beach shovels.

Rousby Hall is located on the Patuxent River, outside of Solomons Island with a view of the river's opening to the Chesapeake Bay. The 16-acre property is adjacent to our very private conservation area that borders our 300-foot private beach. The year-round property has a pier, and in-ground pool (May-October) with amazing river views. Also hosts weddings+events up to 100 guests (additional event fee applies).

The space
Rousby Hall of Calvert County is a beautifully maintained historic home, originally built in the early 18th century. Over the decades, it has been thoughtfully preserved and updated to combine historic charm with modern comforts. Situated right on the Patuxent River, without steep cliffs, this private retreat offers direct access to its own pier, a private beach, and a pool. The home benefits from refreshing breezes off the river, helping to keep the property comfortable and cool, and since we are not located on a creek, there are fewer bugs, making outdoor enjoyment even more pleasant.

Perfect for year-round relaxation and outdoor fun, the property features fabulous bird watching, fishing off the pier, catching crabs (crab pots provided), building sandcastles on the private beach, enjoying bonfires, grilling and watching boats drift by out of Solomons Island. Adjacent to the pool, there is an outdoor pavilion with a large picnic table, making it an ideal spot for outdoor dining and crab picking. For outdoor adventures, there are kayaks for four, and nearby hiking at Calvert Cliffs provides stunning natural scenery.

The main floor hosts one bedroom for easy accessibility, while the other three bedrooms are accessed via stairs. Managed by a Superhost, this spacious and clutter-free space feels more like an upscale country inn than a typical Airbnb. It includes a dedicated office with a desk, printer, office chair, and reliable Starlink internet, perfect for working remotely or catching up on emails.

The pool is open from May through October, with heating available in September and October as outdoor temperatures drop. It features an electric pool cover that can be kept closed for safety, particularly useful for non-swimmers and during the off-season when the pool heater is on. The pool is 4 feet deep, 12 feet wide and 60 feet long. NO diving allowed. There are lots of pool floats and a water volleyball set in garage along with other yard toys and games.

At Rousby Hall, we prioritize environmentally friendly practices, so there are no grasses, plants, gravel, or any glyphosate-based herbicides used on the property. Guests are encouraged to recycle and use the barn's designated recycling bins for proper sorting.

Guest access
The barn (garage) houses the owner's lawn equipment, and they will have full access at any time to use or remove this equipment as needed. Renters are welcome to store bikes and toys in the garage during their stay. Additionally, they own a beehive located far from the home, so it will not impact guests or their activities. The owners will service the pool regularly, including cleaning skimmers and maintaining equipment and will visit every few days to remove guests' trash and recyclables from the barn.

We provide boat rides, 75 minutes for $200, for up to 12 people on our 29' center console Sailfish.

Chef Wiedmaier can prepare family-style dinners for guests. Price will range from $100-$150 per guest depending on the menu. Dinners are reserved two weeks out due to the chef's schedule.
