We walked to the world famous, Harlem Breakfast Club where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. There are many eating establishments within walking distance of the home. Carmen, the host, was kind and extremely attentive. We had one incident with the shower, and Carmen had it immediatley fixed. In addition, she was very responsive to all my questions and happy to assist while we were preparing for our trip. If you want to have an authentic, yet comfortable and fun experience in NYC, I recommend this Harlem gem!"

The Parlor is a fully furnished one bedroom apartment. It is on the 1st floor of a landmarked private brownstone townhouse in the Mount Morris Historic District in the most coveted area of Harlem.

This apartment features 12' ceilings, modern furnishings and professionally designed accents. All lights are on dimmer switches to provide an intimate setting. There is a video buzzer/intercom system for guest entry.

The living room has a 46'' LED smart flat screen television with the local station provided and as well as a remote control radio/iPod player with a playlist of blues and jazz. Wireless Internet access is also provided. The huge mirrored wood decorative fireplace creates a dramatic focal point. The leather sofa folds out to become a super comfortable memory foam queen-size bed, the highest quality available. Original built-in shutters fold out for privacy as well as light control. But the huge south facing windows provide an iconic street view under the spreading honey locust tree canopy and it is a beautiful sight to see.

The kitchen features stainless steel appliances: large refrigerator with auto ice maker, dishwasher, four burner gas range with oven and a built-in microwave/fan. Also provided are a blender, toaster, coffee maker, dishes and flatware, glassware and mugs, knife set, cooking pots and pans and utensils. There are plenty of cabinets and under-counter lighting. Dishwasher detergent is provided, as well a filtered water pitcher.

The washer and dryer are next to the bathroom. Detergent is provided. The cabinet next to it holds bedding, extra towels, an iron as well as plenty of storage space.

The all white subway tiled bathroom has a vintage claw-foot bathtub with shower option, as well as hamper, hair dryer, timer exhaust fan. A vintage towel rack and vintage art deco mirror add charm. The ceiling light is dimmable.

The bedroom is accessible though beautiful sliding pocket doors with intricate original woodwork above. The art deco wood wardrobe has ample size as well as drawers and trouser hangers. Original wood wainscoting and fireplace add charm to the bedroom. The memory foam queen bed features wall hung vintage reading lights and is next to the window, providing gentle garden breezes. This spacious two bedroom apartment with deck and patio is a rare find in NYC. One stop from the Yankee Stadium, 3 stops into Manhattan. Close to restaurants shopping malls and more. The Multicultural House is the headquarters of an organization dedicated to the research of music instruction and its impact on the academic, social and affective life of urban students. We are less than two blocks away from the Subway station and only a few minutes from Manhattan. Two block from our place is the Bronx Market Mall with stores, restaurants, banks and parking available. The train station is a few door steps from Hostos Community College. Restaurants, Post Office, Pregones Theater, schools and Yankee Stadium makes our community busy, vibrant and safe.

- "Beautiful views - the property is high up. The kitchen was nice to make some food at and had supplies. Check in instructions were clear. The place was clean as well. There is free parking on the street - just read the signs. One downside - The AC in the bedroom was pretty loud if you can’t sleep with loud noises. Quiet building though you can hear outside noises."

COVID PANDEMIC UPDATE - June 8, 2020:
After much thought and careful consideration, I have decided that Harlem Comfort II will not be accepting any reservations this year. Testing procedures have not been standardized to my satisfaction. I still do not know my own health status and, even though I have not felt unwell, for all I know, I could be an asymptomatic carrier of the virus. There is no vaccine available as of yet. Under these circumstances, the decision to shut down for the year was the only one I could feel comfortable making.
I am going to use this time off to determine my own health status and discuss appropriate self-care protocols with my doctor. I will also be reviewing and adjusting the cleaning and hygiene practices currently in place at HCII so that ANYBODY who enters this building - myself included - may do so without worrying about jeopardizing their health.
HCII wishes good health and longevity to all of our past and future guests. I will reach out early next year with another update. STAY SAFE!

- "Everything was seamless and effortless. Carolann is a gem! She was waiting for us when we arrived and even assisted with luggage. Carolann gave us a quick tour of everything, made sure we had numbers to contact her and then made her departure. I had a question the next day and she responded within minutes! She has thought of everything a traveler would need from food ready to eat upon arrival to toiletries you may have forgotten! Her place is also waliking distance to subway so we were able to get everywhere with ease. We felt right at home at Carolann's!"

. There is another independent apartment for rent on the same floor. We live in the same building on the parlor floor and we have a separate entrance on another floor.

THE INTERIORS
It contains high end wood furnitures - a queen size bed w a quality mattress, a dining table, a desk, a rocking armchair, a corner sectional soft leather sofa, coffee table. Moreover- a luxury feeling with quality bedding and towels, Oriental carpet, WiFi, TV with cables and Netflix , Air-condition, Nespresso machine, interesting art, and access to a back garden!

The kitchen contains an under the counter refrigerator, microwave oven, hot plate, cattle , toaster, Nespresso Machine, assorted plates, glasses, cups, cutlery , cooking utilities and pots.

NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW / TIPS for RESTAURANTS and STORES
Harlem is very vivid with new many restaurants of all cuisines , jazz clubs, trendy coffees and pubs, Whole-food, and the 125th commercial corridor with all the big chains . Some specific recommendations:
1) For Groceries: There is a small shop on the corner of 134th and 7th ave ( just cross the street and go to the corner) and they are open 24/7 for the immediate essentials including milk and juice. For more serious shopping - there is a new Wholefood on 125th and 6th, but there are other supermarkets ( less fancy but good) close to the house (132/8th, and 130/6th). Before WholeFood opened I use to go to Best Market for the best sushi you can ask for ( 8th ave between 118 and 119) . it is a walk but it worth it if you like sushi.
2) for Resturants- My favorite is on the other side of 7th Ave (between 134 and 133) -Yatenga. Go two blocks south , on the corner of 132 you will find Renaissance which is open also for breakfast . I also like The Edge Cafe on 139th and Edgcombe ave. Treat yourself one day to Red Rooster, corner Social, Barawine ( all on Lenox between 126th and 120). There are also good restaurants on 8th ave ( from 117 to 127)
3) Many Jazz places around. The closest one is Bill’s Place, on 148 W 133rd st. Twov minutes walk. Bill and company play jazz in the basement on Friday's and Saturday's eves . Go online and book a 20 $ ticket and come early as the seats are not marked..

GETTING AROUND
Very convenient. You can take 6 Subway lines and 3 busses:
5 minutes walk to 135th/st Nicolas you can find
the B and C lines that go along Central Park
West till Columbus Circle and then They split.
B continues along 6th Ave, and
C continues along 8th Ave
7 minutes walk to 127/st Nicolas you can find
the express lines A and D that go
non stop till 59th St and Columbus Circle.
4 minutes walk to 135th/Lenox you can find the 2
and 3 express lines that go along Broadway and
then 7th Ave. In 16 minutes you reach Times
Square
1 minute walk to 134th/7th, you can take buss M2
goes express all the way to Washington Square
and the Village along 5th Ave

- "After reading reviews about the area I was a little worried being a single female staying here. I need not have worried at all. I didn’t feel unsafe and I would regularly use the subway late at night too (like getting back at 2-3am). I do want to point out that I would always use the C train (A train late at night) because the 2/3 train did feel a bit sketchy even during the day. Going from the apartment towards St Nicholas was fine, but going the opposite direction towards Lenox - that area seems a little seedier. I never felt unsafe walking around in the day but wouldn’t go that direction at night. The apartment itself was roomy. I was there during winter and it was cold out but always warm inside. The little kitchen was great. The bathroom is big enough but there were a few drainage issues near the end of the stay (used Drano to help fix it). At one point, a fuse blew during my stay and I had no power in the big room, but it was sorted out quickly by the host which I appreciated. There are plenty of place to eat and get supplies within a few blocks of the apartment too. For the price I would definitely recommend staying here. I enjoyed my stay and would like to come back some time."

You'll be the only guests of this owner occupied, self contained yet attached garden suite directly across the street from the Morris-Jumel Mansion, George Washington’s headquarters for 1776′s Battle of Harlem Heights and home to the infamous grand horizontal, Madame Jumel. At the time Duke Ellington dubbed the house “The Crown of Sugar Hill,” the immediate neighborhood was also home to Joe Louis, W.E.B. DuBois, Paul Robeson, Count Basie, Lena Horne, Coleman Hawkins, Mary Lou Williams, Thurgood Marshall, and dozens of other Jazz Masters and Civil Rights heroes.

Casita CTM is a quiet spacious artistic space. If you play the piano or guitar and want to practice we have it for you. We are located a few blocks away from Yankee Stadium. The Gateway mall is walking distance. Near public transportation and about 15 to 20 min ride on the D train to Rockefeller Center, and Central Park Columbus Circe and Lincoln Center. International food restaurants in the area and also fast food delivery available. 15 minutes walk from the Bronx Children Museum.

This is a huge 3 bedroom apartment with the living room. Yes have access to the kitchen the bathroom and all the common areas this is a newly renovated apartment. Everything in the apartment is brand new and maintained meticulouly. You will love to stay here for many reasons but a good for instance is that you'll have individualized central air and Central Heating to adjust at your leisure. Come have a 6 star experience with us!

During your stay
I like socializing with my gas but I also like to give them privacy. I am always available and if I can't be there my husband is here as my backup. My kids also lend a hand and they're also available to help with whatever needs they come up. We Are Family and when you come here will treat you like family as well.

There is a free NYC link phone system at the end of our street you can use this to make free calls as many of our International guests may not have a working domestic SIM card in their phone upon first arrival.
