We drove Shelf Road to Canon City which was a beautifully scenic drive, visited Royal Gorge and went to 11 Mile Canyon while staying here. The views from the cabin are outstanding & you will see wildlife. Deer, chipmunks, hummingbirds, etc... The kitchen is well equipped if you plan to cook. You'll have what you need! The only downside for me was the tiny bathroom. It was difficult to prepare for my event in, but I made do. A full length mirror would be helpful too. Neither of these were a deal breaker however. Before you head out on an excursion or what not, be sure to bring up your destination in maps before losing WiFi! It is easy to get turned around. My biggest negative was not being able to enjoy the cabin more during the day because we were on the go so much. Stay there, you will not regret it!"

Side note: The driveway is steep and has tight curves, but you can access the property from the street below if you drive up and around."

Our cozy, 2-bedroom, 1 bath chalet-style cabin accommodates 6 adults comfortably with a Queen bed in both of the upstairs bedrooms and a Queen sleeper sofa with memory foam mattress downstairs. The bright, sunny rooms are welcoming and allow nice passive solar heating. Linens for bed and bath are provided. The kitchen is equipped with dishes, glasses, pots and pans, utensils, coffee maker, electric tea kettle, blender, linens, microwave, a full-sized refrigerator, dishwasher, and oven with glass cook-top. Our bathroom is downstairs and has a tiled tub/shower combination. The wood stove serves as a very efficient alternative to the radiant baseboard heating and the fireplace offers a romantic element.

If you are considering traveling with a dog, we require prior approval before accepting a booking request. Please email us a completed Pet Addendum, which is part of our Rental Agreement, when you submit your booking request. It is an easy to use, online form and includes our "cabin rules" for visiting dogs. This form asks for your dog's name, breed, color, weight, age, sex, and if it has been spayed or neutered. If you have trouble with the form, please just send us a simple email with the requested information and an acknowledgement that you accept the rules.

We have free WiFi for your convenience and recommend connecting your cell phone to it for a stronger signal. Our cabin sits at the bottom of our driveway, below street-level, so we strongly recommend an all-wheel/4-wheel drive vehicle during our rainy/snowy winter months.

- "Had a great time and a great stay!" - "This was a great home base for our Colorado vacation in the Cripple Creek area. Loved the large deck and waking up to looking at those mountains every morning. Also appreciated the nice gas grill to do some cooking. The gravel road up to the place was in good shape and it was actually a pretty quick, scenic drive into Cripple Creek. We were pretty well situated to get to everything else in the area. We had visits from some deer and heard the coyotes in the night. And since it was late July we also had fun watching the hummingbirds fight over the feeder on the deck. It was an enjoyable, comfortable stay!"

Take a tour of the fabled Mollie Kathleen Gold mine, a train ride back in history or tour active Gold mining operation which stilll produces millions of dollars worth of gold every year, located just 6 miles near historic Victor Colorado.
You and your kids will love feeding our herd of friendly donkeys descendants of the original “Rocky Mountain Canaries” which worked the mines at the turn of the century.
