You will feel like you are on top of the world when you stay at this romantic cabin. Enjoy the fantastic views from the deck or when sitting in the hot tub. Inside the cabin, you will find a main floor master bedroom with a king size bed. The living room boasts a large stone fireplace that is perfect for those cold winter days or nights. The upstairs loft has 2 twin size beds for extra guests.
The cabin is nestled in a charming mountain community, where you'll find gravel roads maintained by the county. During winter, these roads are plowed by the county for easier access. The cabin's driveway is plowed whenever snowfall exceeds 4 inches; however, please note that our plow service may take up to 24 hours after the snow stops to reach the cabin. For your convenience, snow shovels are available on-site should you need them in an emergency.
- "This property was just as advertised. We especially enjoyed the view from the deck and hot tub! The starry sky at night from the hot tub was breathtaking! Had several deer hang out near the house and visits from hummingbirds! The bed was super comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. The only negative we had was that the bathroom is very small. We drove Shelf Road to Canon City which was a beautifully scenic drive, visited Royal Gorge and went to 11 Mile Canyon while staying here. We would definitely stay here again if back in the Cripple Creek area."

- "We absolutely loved it and would love to come back and stay and explore more of the country side!" - "My adult son & I stayed two nights to attend my middle sons wedding 15 minutes away from the cabin. The cabin was perfect for the two of us. It has WiFi. (Good thing, because you will not get service out there) There is a hot-tub we enjoyed in the evening after long days away with the wedding party. The night sky awakens the soul! The views from the cabin are outstanding & you will see wildlife. Deer, chipmunks, hummingbirds, etc... The kitchen is well equipped if you plan to cook. You'll have what you need! The only downside for me was the tiny bathroom. It was difficult to prepare for my event in, but I made do. A full length mirror would be helpful too. Neither of these were a deal breaker however. Before you head out on an excursion or what not, be sure to bring up your destination in maps before losing WiFi! It is easy to get turned around. My biggest negative was not being able to enjoy the cabin more during the day because we were on the go so much. Stay there, you will not regret it!"

- "Feels like camping in the middle of nowhere... Great basecamp for outdoor adventuring!" - "This A frame cabin in the mountains is a beautiful getaway spot. It’s not a large space, but it’s perfect for two people. From the hot tub to the wildlife to the peace & quiet, I would recommend it to anyone looking to disconnect in nature. There are no immediate neighbors; you can sorta see a red house down the road from the patio. There’s still Dish TV and Wi-Fi if you need it. It’s 30 min or less drive to local towns and trailheads. If you follow the suggestions from the owner about food storage and the key, you will not have any trouble! Side note: The driveway is steep and has tight curves, but you can access the property from the street below if you drive up and around."

Enjoy bird-watching and the deer as they graze through each day. Scenic drives like Phantom Canyon Road are literally everywhere and hiking abounds at several area state parks and national forests like Mueller State Park. Explore all the charm and history of Cripple Creek including a trip to the Cripple Creek Heritage Center where you can learn about our gold mining history and take in spectacular views. Keep an eye out around town for our famous donkeys. Our local Butte Theatre offers professional live theater year-round. Seasonally, you can ride the Cripple Creek & Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad. Visit nearby Rita the Rock Planter, our amazing giant wooden troll sculpture, the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center, Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center, Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, and ride to the top of Pikes Peak. Enjoy fly-fishing in Gold Medal Waters, snow skiing on world class slopes, gambling in nearby casinos, and white water rafting and zip-lining at the impressive Royal Gorge.
Our cozy, 2-bedroom, 1 bath chalet-style cabin accommodates 6 adults comfortably with a Queen bed in both of the upstairs bedrooms and a Queen sleeper sofa with memory foam mattress downstairs. The bright, sunny rooms are welcoming and allow nice passive solar heating. Linens for bed and bath are provided. The kitchen is equipped with dishes, glasses, pots and pans, utensils, coffee maker, electric tea kettle, blender, linens, microwave, a full-sized refrigerator, dishwasher, and oven with glass cook-top. Our bathroom is downstairs and has a tiled tub/shower combination. The wood stove serves as a very efficient alternative to the radiant baseboard heating and the fireplace offers a romantic element.
If you are considering traveling with a dog, we require prior approval before accepting a booking request. Please email us a completed Pet Addendum, which is part of our Rental Agreement, when you submit your booking request. It is an easy to use, online form and includes our "cabin rules" for visiting dogs. This form asks for your dog's name, breed, color, weight, age, sex, and if it has been spayed or neutered. If you have trouble with the form, please just send us a simple email with the requested information and an acknowledgement that you accept the rules.
We have free WiFi for your convenience and recommend connecting your cell phone to it for a stronger signal. Our cabin sits at the bottom of our driveway, below street-level, so we strongly recommend an all-wheel/4-wheel drive vehicle during our rainy/snowy winter months.
We would love to have you as our guests so please let us know if you have any questions.

- "Had a great time and a great stay!" - "This was a great home base for our Colorado vacation in the Cripple Creek area. Loved the large deck and waking up to looking at those mountains every morning. Also appreciated the nice gas grill to do some cooking. The gravel road up to the place was in good shape and it was actually a pretty quick, scenic drive into Cripple Creek. We were pretty well situated to get to everything else in the area. We had visits from some deer and heard the coyotes in the night. And since it was late July we also had fun watching the hummingbirds fight over the feeder on the deck. It was an enjoyable, comfortable stay!"

With CLOSEUP views of Pikes Peak’s Sentinel Point, “Rocky Mountain Heights” is perfect for vacations and getaways for couples, friends, or small families. It also is a fabulous spot for “working from home,” with new Starlink high speed internet. The cabin is on 3.2 acres atop a hill in the western foothills of Pikes Peak. View Pikes Peak’s Sentinel Point from the sunroom, or the Adirondack lawn chairs. Hundreds of acres of undeveloped, forested hills provide privacy and amazing views. As you view down the stunning valleys, listen to the narrow mountain stream that flows into the beaver ponds on our neighbor’s private property. Watch for the yearly visits of mama moose with their newborns. Wildlife abounds, with moose and elk nearby, with mule deer grazing in our yard, and forest animals and birds cheering your spirits. From 9,500 ft, unplug, relax, and watch beautiful sunrises, brilliant stars, quaking Aspen, and silent snowfalls. Security/Game cameras are installed in the front and back of the property. The cabin is one level, with no stairs and easy parking, and a low-fenced front and backyard for the kiddos. A glass-bead firepit dining set is in the covered area near the propane bbq grill.
Charming mountain cabins often do not provide all the amenities that we have: sunrises and MOON rises over nearby Pikes Peak’s Sentinel Point, while hearing the small mountain stream from the backyard; covered outdoor dining and firepit. Inside: a workspace/ adjustable height computer desk (sit or stand) and chair; a gas fireplace, new comfy king and queen beds, televisions in both bedroooms and the living room, new washer and dryer, dishwasher, and propane bbq grill, and a sunroom. The log cabin exterior and the interior woodwork add to the mountain charm, with vaulted pine ceilings throughout, and hickory hardwood floors in the living and dining areas. YouTube television and internet are available, and you can prepare meals from the well-appointed kitchen.
Special Note: Marijuana/drugs, smoking, vaping, and e-cigarettes are not allowed in the cabin nor on the property. Activities Galore are in every direction!
Pikes Peak is 25 miles away to visit it by car, or take the cog railway from Manitou Springs. HIKE up the backside of Pikes Peak from the Crags Trailhead, just 6 miles from the cabin! Our area is a hiker’s dream! Mueller State Park is 5 miles away, with 50 miles of trails of every level on FIVE THOUSAND ACRES! (Or just drive through Mueller for vistas of Pikes Peak AND the Continental Divide). Minutes away are the waterfall at Horsethief Falls Trail, and the Dome Rock and the Pancakes Trails. See the AllTrails app for many nearby trails. In Cripple Creek, 12 miles south, are the casinos, the nationally famous winter Ice Castles, and the Mollie K. Gold Mine Tours. The town of Victor has gold mining history and Rita the Troll. On the way to Colorado Springs from the cabin, visit the Dinosaur Resource Center, Santa’s Workshop Amusement Park, The Penny Arcade and 25-cent kiddie rides, Cave of the Winds, Indian Cliff Dwellings, Garden of the Gods, The Air Force Academy, the famous Broadmoor Hotel and Seven Falls, and the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Kids and adults love it!
Our central location allows you to enjoy all the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer: hunting, skiing, river rafting, kayaking, world class fly fishing, snowmobiling, sledding, hot springs, hiking, biking, ATVing, Jeeping, zip lining, and rock climbing. The Royal Gorge is 57 miles away, offering river rafting, extreme zip lining, train rides, and gondola rides across the Gorge. Snow ski at Breckenridge, 88 miles away, without the high cost of lodging, and the more than 4-hour, round-trip travel congestion of I-70 from Denver in peak season! Snow ski at Monarch to the southwest, or stop at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs in Buena Vista on the way.
One of our favorite spots is less than 30 miles from the cabin — Eleven Mile Canyon. (Not to be confused with Eleven Mile Resevoir nearby). Drive through and ask the ranger to point out the huge bald eagles’ nest on the way in. The South Platte River rushes and tumbles between the stunning canyon walls, in the quintessential, picture-postcard Colorado wild. Picnic, hike, fish, fly fish, or drive through and never leave your car. A photographer’s dream! A Must See!
All the roads leading to the cabin from every direction are excellent highways, except for the last 1.2 miles, which are 2 lane, decompressed granite roads which are well-maintained by the county after rains and snow.
Come home to the gas burning fireplace in the cabin, nestled in Colorado mountains, where “nature’s finest” is right out your door!
- "The host is so organized and has renting down to a T. They go above and beyond with amenities supplied such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, laundry products. The decor is tastefully done and should be featured in a magazine. The furniture was good quality and clean. The entire home was clean. They also have a dishwasher for those that love to cook and they have every imaginable kitchenware as well as a formal dining area. Because of their good communication finding the location and check in was a breeze. We had zero issues but host gave us a way to contact them if we did need anything. It's so quiet at night. No noise or traffic, or partying of any kind, it was heaven as our goal was to get away from it all. We did check out the local towns, restaurants and bought a ticket up to the summit to Pikes Peak. I mention all of this for those that need things to do. However it's also a place to just hang out and relax. We spent hours sitting on the chairs that overlook the mountain. It was just so relaxing and I can not emphasize that enough. Things that made me smile were the detail they did in making this home a home. From the bears in a canoe paddling over the dark blue table cloth, to the seashell in the corner in the bathroom. The artwork on the walls was beautiful. For anyone reading this, I highly recommend renting from this host. You will not be disappointed. --- Misty and Theo"

- "The location an view from the backporch was amazing! The house was very clean and cozy. There were games to play with my kids and even tho i had no reception on my phone the wifi worked really good. I would definitely stay here again!" - "Very clean, great accommodations. Roomier than it looks." - "What a stay! My wife and I loved the place and so did our Australian Shepherd. Kristen's communication was awesome and she always was quick to reply to our messages and answering questions. Check in was a breeze. I wish checking into hotels was as easy. The place was spotless when we arrived and we were impressed by the stock of condiments and everything you would ever need. If you cook gourmet you might want to bring your own spiced (commonnn the host can't think of EVERYTHING) but for cooking most meals there is what you need. The bed is really nice and better that the bed at home. Oh wait did I say that out loud? The views were great from the back porch. The shower was great and 6'6" 270 lb me had plenty of room and the water pressure was was good. Our dog Sykes loved it and loved running around the place and exploring as well as chasing the Chipmunks. He also enjoyed barking at the Lynx one night. If you have ever heard a Lynx calling on a dark night you know itwill make your hair stand up on the back of your neck. He also had a night he got to bark at a bear that was outside. He/she left a large poop near the cabin to prove that it was there as well as another philosophical question that has been asked for many years now. And with that said I definitely would not let pets out after dusk without an escort and on a leash. Remember we are in their home and they have every right to pass through. If you want a very reasonable place in rhe mountains, this is the place."

Absolutely the cleanest and well-organized property we have experienced in our 7 property rentals through VRBO. Erika and Chris - wow! Not sure I can express our thoughts in less than a chapter. - "This cabin is just right for a cabin in the mountains. It is well stocked and we had everything we needed. There is wildlife around. We saw deer almost every day. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of blankets for those chilly evenings. Also, the electric fireplace is great. The hot tub was also wonderful. From the hot tub, you could see the gorgeous night sky with no light pollution." - "This is our second consecutive summer to stay at this cabin. Although we have rented other properties that were perhaps larger or fancier, this little cabin is very clean, quaint and quite comfortable. We love the peace, quiet and seclusion of this place. The deer walking through are your only visitors, and the assortment of beautifully colored hummingbirds, jays, bluebirds and chickadees are fun to watch. We bring bird food and a hummingbird feeder from home. It’s worth it! The hot tub provides a perfect therapeutic option after a day of hiking, fishing, shopping. We plan to return to this cabin for a third consecutive year next summer. Strongly recommend."

This private property has been newly renovated and boasts a large flatscreen TV and high-speed Starlink internet. Experience the magic of nature as you spot big horn sheep and other wildlife. Relax by the fire pit under a starlit sky. With its serene ambiance and new renovations, this property offers the perfect mountain getaway.
Step inside the cabin and be greeted by a recently renovated interior that seamlessly blends rustic charm with modern comforts. The open and spacious layout provides an inviting atmosphere for relaxation and socializing. Relax is the cozy living area, where large windows frame the majestic mountains, allowing natural light to flood the space. For entertainment, a large flatscreen TV awaits, ensuring you never miss your favorite shows or movies. The kitchen has anything you may need to cook up a quick snack or a large meal. There is tremendous views from every window as you walk through the cabin. You will find a central bathroom with an extra large shower, big vanity and a full sized washer and dryer. Then you will enter into the large bedroom in the back of the cabin. It is set with a memory foam king bed. There is a comfy office chair and a large desk equipped with a charging station and Starlink Internet for all your remote working needs! The exterior of the cabin has a large deck, hammocks and plenty of spots to take on your next book.
The guests have access to the cabin, the area around the cabin that is all on the East side of the driveway. The West side it is marked with blue markers and that is another person property. Also our neighborhood has a clubhouse and guests are able to access the outdoor amenities (tennis courts, play ground and frisbee golf course)
Cautionary Notes (Please Read)!
We do NOT accept check-in or check-out on holidays.
Absolutely NO open fires are allowed. The risk of wildfire in the area is too high. You will be asked to leave immediately if there is any fire activity. The gas fire pit will be removed if there is a fire ban.
The roads require 4WD for November through April (however it can snow in October and in May!). The roads are plowed after 6 inches of snow. You do not need a 4WD or AWD in the summer but be aware that the dirt roads in the neighborhood are bumpy!
There is no air conditioning unit here. It is very rare in our county to have one installed in a house (even brand-new builds!). The nights are cool in the summer so to cool the house off you can open all the windows at night, then close them during the day and you stay cool! There are fans provided to help blow the cool air through the cabin.
We are at 9,200 feet in elevation — altitude sickness can occur but you can do things to prevent it and alleviate symptoms including, taking a day to rest when you arrive, drink extra water and stay well hydrated (avoiding alcohol will help).
- "We have been visiting this area of Colorado for many years and try new rentals each time - this one may very well be a repeat stay! The views were great and there were no close neighbors so it was very private. Loved sitting on the deck watching hummingbirds and afternoon thunderstorms. The hot tub was perfect for nightly soaks under the stars - you can see the Milky Way with your naked eye. Nice and updated with modern finished on the inside and out. The only thing I personally missed was a dishwasher, but the pros definitely make up for it. Host communication was excellent and the property was exactly as described. Would definitely stay at this property or another with the same host in the future."

Our 1000 square-foot cabin is surrounded by thousands of acres of Pike National Forest. You can’t see another house from this property! That’s why we call it, ”The Hideout”.
You could literally hike out the back door all the way to the summit of Pikes Peak and not cross a road nor see another house. Truly your Rocky Mountain getaway.

We have just furnished the cabin with beautiful log and leather furniture. Brand new mattresses, bedding, linens and towels.
Our kitchen comes fully stocked with everything you should need. Just bring the food you want to cook on our gas range or grill out on the patio… propane is provided.
We have high speed Internet, a smart TV and your own desk and workspace. Each nightstand has power cords with USB plugs.
Snuggle up in the living room on our leather reclining sofa and overstuffed recliner. The lodge decor reminds us of a time when life moved at a much slower, relaxed pace

Other things to note
Please be aware….
You are visiting an area that is a semi arid climate. Wildfires are a very serious threat. Please be EXTREMELY careful with any kind of open flame. Each year, thousands of acres are needlessly burned across the state of Colorado.
You are visiting an area with a lot of wildlife. Bears in particular, can smell food a long ways off. Please do not leave any food outside or in a vehicle. They are quite clever and will usually find a way into your car.
Please do not feed any wildlife.l
There are four exterior cameras, always on.
One on the parking area.
One on the driveway.
For your safety and to meet insurance requirements, there is one on the area around the hot tub and front of the cabin.
The hot tub camera is completely blurred within 4 feet and including the hot tub. No image can be seen, in the hot tub, just people walking up to it. Because of the remote location, we need to make sure people who come onto the property uninvited are observed.
There is a Ring privacy feature. All images inside the hot tub and the area directly around it are completely blurred for your privacy.
One on the end of house.
- "Loved it all thank you so much for everything" - "Very nice place. Close to a lot, but remote as well. I look for places that are "secluded" and private. Anywhere you look, from this location, you wont see ANY other structures. Just forest, and the road is 30ft below you. Very modern, and fully equipped home, with no one, and nothing but forest around it. The hot tub faces west, overlooking the tree covered mountain slopes at sunset. Fantastic place to stay. "

If you're looking to walk around, hike, or bring your bike/ATV/etc. there's plenty of room around here. If you're looking for food or shopping or gambling at the casino, Cripple Creek is just a 7 minute drive away, and you can get to Divide in 25 minutes. Colorado Springs is 1 hour away. If you're wanting to hit the slopes, Breckenridge and Monarch are both about 2 hours away. **4WD recommended for winter months.

This is a remote area and we will not be onsite. If you have trouble we can be reached via messenger and can make recommendations on who to call in case of emergency.
- "We loved this Tiny Home. The only thing that wasn't ideal is the road conditions getting to the property. The road leading up to the house is very bumpy with several dips. Otherwise everything was great!" - "Such an awesome property!!! Adorable tiny home equipped with everything you could need. Good size mini fridge, stocked kitchen supplies, hot water and gas. The location is beautiful and the hosts were very communicative. No trouble finding it, checking in or out. Super romantic spot, I'll be coming back with my partner next time!"

Animals, flowers, nature, wildlife, etc... The property is being set up to be a fully functional homestead and farm, where you get to enjoy the ambiance and benefits, without any of the work. Currently, things like eggs, are provided to guests free of charge, with extra cartons of eggs available to purchase if guests would like to take eggs home with them (locally, or on to their next local destination). Long-term, other products like bacon, chicken, honey, and other products produced on the farm will also be available for sale.
Seasonally, you can expect the grounds blanketed in snow during the winter (Nov/Dec - April/May), or covered with fields of flowers in the spring (May/June) and summer (July - Aug; note: at these altitudes, we do not have ticks / venomous snakes), with fall foliage popping all around in the fall (Sept/Oct).
Animals on the farm - Chickens, Ducks, Geese, Turkeys, Pigs, Livestock Guardian Dogs & Barn Cats (some animals will be seasonal for a couple of years, but will become full time residents, who repopulate the farm for the following years). Over 2025, I will be doubling or tripling the number of pastures to implement proper rotational grazing for all farm animals and will be applying for AirBnB experiences to offer farm tours, and wolf-hybrid tours, to offer guests even more unique opportunities and experiences.
On the topic of future, future of the property, and experiences... historically speaking, at one point in time the neighboring properties were a local ski hill, with tubing, and ski lifts. I have purchased those properties, and will be working on restoring these trails, lifts, etc... so that during the winter, there are private ski slopes, and tubing trails. During the other seasons, hiking, biking trails, and scenic viewing spots available to hang out at. (Note: I do not have concrete timelines on these - some hiking trails have been established, others are still a work in progress, but I share some of the vision for the properties, as your staying today, helps build that future tomorrow, and I look forward to sharing that future).

This charming, house sits on ~11 acres of mountainous land, with another rental house, at roughly 10k feet of elevation, with hot tub & steam sauna as well as several grills. There are also tons of places to explore, from hiking right out the back gate, the local gold mine, to the casinos in Cripple Creek, Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center, and tons of outdoor adventures, this is the perfect rental for outdoor enthusiast or anyone looking to kick back and relax.
The space
The space is set up to accommodate a wide variety of stays, from romantic getaways to family vacations... or even temporary remote work location to low-key celebrations or small events.
Some specifics about "Mountain House", there are 3 different heat sources, and the house has AC. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances to make nearly whatever you'd like during your stay, as well as a mix of basic spices, herbs, eggs, and various kitchen essentials. The outdoor space has it's very own outdoor dining area as well as dog run, which nearly entirely encompasses the cabin, and plenty of parking space(s).
Outdoor Space
Guest access
Guests have full access to the guest house, and surrounding property.
Front gate has electronic key-code entrance & exit. The code will be emailed to you prior to check-in.
Steam Sauna, Grill and Fire Pit are all located between the guest cabin and the Hot Tub, along the driveway (Towels and Bathrobes are provided).
Steam Sauna, there is a bucket with spoon / ladle for water. The temperature knob is on the left and the timer is on the right. The timer has 2 modes, run for 1 hour (you will hear the heater engage) or delayed start then run for 1 hour (if you choose this option, you will hear the heater turn off after engaging, then you will set the dial to your desired delayed start).
Hot tub is located by the driveway, near the metal building, past the steam sauna. Stairs to enter the hot tub are on the back side.
There are a mix of tubes and sleds, for everyone from kids to full grown adults (max weight ratings of 350 lbs). These are provided in the wooden box, by the back gate.
