Rocky Fork lake nearby. Visitors to the "Wilberness" Log Cabin will experience peace and quiet on this 2-acre property.
Relax while sitting on the front or back porch of this real log cabin listening to all the bird songs. There is plenty of wildlife to watch including visits from many small animals and an occasional deer. You can hear a rooster from afar who supplies your wake up call in the morning !

There is plenty of seating for outdoor dining and a hot tub for relaxing. A grill and a large fire pit complete the outdoor ensemble.
You will find two bedrooms upstairs. A queen bed in the master (2ppl) and a double bed and a set of bunk beds in the second bedroom (4ppl) A double air mattress for sleeping is also on hand. (2ppl). There is also a Pack and Play available. Tent camping on the abundance of flat land is available in the side yard.
The kitchen comes fully equipped if you choose to cook. Everything you would need is provided along with a few pantry items. A dining table is next to the kitchen for eating inside. There is a bathroom with a tub/shower, sink, and toilet. The linen closet supplies your sheets and towels for your stay. Some cleaning supplies and laundry items are supplied. A washer and dryer are available.
The living room has a working fireplace/wood-burning stove. There is a TV with U Tube TV service and a Blue Ray player with various movies to watch.
Wireless internet service is available throughout the cabin. Data is very limited. Wilderness is a get away with very minimal wi-fi service. Movies or anything else should be streamed. Please.

There is ample parking at the cabin in front of the garage for your boat and trailer.
The garage, however, is the owner's property and is off-limits for use.

We built a fire each night and did marshmallows and s’mores with my grandchildren. The beds were super comfy and we all slept more than we did at our homes. One of the grandkids favorites was the bunk bed. We went over to see the goats and chickens multiple times and fed them lettuce and carrots. The cabin was super clean and contained everything we needed. It was a extra special weekend we all will not forget."

THE SPACE
The camper is located at the top of the hill making for a very private experience.
We are in the main house and available for any questions or advice on things to do around the area. Otherwise we strive to offer a private getaway for our guests so you won't see us much, however you may get a visit from our 2 very friendly labs Eddie and Kayce
Our space is perfect for a couples getaway, the bedroom has a king size bed. There is also a queen size sofa bed in the living room.
The hot tub is a Hot Springs perfect for up to 3 people. We regularly check the water and sanitize between each guest please enjoy the hot tub responsibly and follow hot tub rules.
We are located Approx. 15-20 minutes from our quaint town of Peebles Ohio
In and around Adams County Ohio
We are Approx. 2 miles from Serpent Mound and in Locust Grove Ohio stop by and see Tom Johnson at The Rock Shop totally worth a visit.
Also close by you can launch your kayaks on Brush Creek.
Lots of hiking trails in the area (The Buckeye Trail)
Nature preserves and Amish Country all around us with great bakeries and antiques and we are very well known during hunting season. Although we are closed for the winter months we will be back opened in March 2025 be sure to start booking your spring and summer getaways now. 4. Of course Serpent Mound within 2 miles of the Holler it is a 1,348 foot long serpent effigy and ponder its mysteries they open Tuesday thru Sunday

5. Try Blake Pharmacy on the courthouse square in West Union Ohio and grab a coke which is just a nickel

HUNTERS. The Paint Creek Lake Wildlife Area is at the end of our road with over 5,000 acres of Public Hunting Grounds. There is plenty of access with well marked parking areas. One third of the Area is agriculture (corn and beans), one third is woods and one third is reverting prairie. There is plenty of parking. Back up on the gravel drive and hang your field dressed deer right from the bed of your truck. On the back deck is an outdoor work table with running water to process your game. We can provide maps and ODNR Hunting Regulations booklets. Hunters can also find rabbit, turkey, quail, pheasant and dove in the area. However, the best dove hunting is found at the Fallsville Wildlife Area, 15 miles from the rental. Paint Creek State Park’s Archery Range is about 20 miles from the rental and not far from there are two Archery Stores.

FISHING ENTHUSIASTS have TWO Ohio State Park Lakes to choose from, less than 15 miles from the rental. There is plenty of parking. Outback is a fish cleaning station. Check out the Fishing Tournament Schedules for Rocky Fork Lake and Paint Creek Lake.

Rent a pontoon for a day at Bayview Boat rental or just take a moment to relax, nature watch or enjoy a nice stroll around the neighborhood. For the avid golfers, The Elks Lodge is a 14-minute drive offering 18 holes of golf on Hillsboro’s beautiful rolling hills. Stop in for a drink at the “Frog and Club” Restaurant- located on the golf course.

A nearby Dollar General fits the bill for last minute groceries and sundries. There is a Sunoco gas station adjacent to the marina and boat rental featuring Barbarico’s sub sandwiches. We are pleased to offer dog-friendly accommodations under specific conditions. A $150 per stay pet fee applies and must be collected in advance of your stay. This fee allows for 1 dog, less than 60 lbs.. As a guest of a Lakeside Escape, you agree to adhere to the following policies.

• Pets are not allowed on furniture or bedding. Therefore, all pets must be
crated overnight and crated when left unattended for any amount of time.
Please contact Host to arrange pet crate rental if needed.

• Your pet must be leashed at all times when outside on the property. All waste
must be picked up and disposed of. No aggressive dogs are allowed on the property.
o Guests will use either the rental yard or the road outside to walk the dog to urinate and defecate. Guests will not let their dog relieve itself in the
neighbors’ yards.

• The dog must be flea and tick free and current on prevention treatment.

• As responsible pet owners, Guests agree to accept full and complete
responsibility for any personal injury or property damage caused by the dog or
suffered by any person during Guests’ stay at Lakeside Escape.

• Guests understand that they will be charged accordingly for the repair of any
damages, additional cleaning requirements, or flea treatment caused by dog’s
presence or behavior. If there is evidence of non-compliance with the policies stated above, penalty fees will apply. Common examples of non-compliance and corresponding penalty fees are listed below.

PET POLICY
1) Guests are permitted to bring no more than 1 dog (total) weighing 60 pounds or less, unless the Host agrees in advance. There is an additional fee added to the stay for any guests bringing their dogs. This fee does not apply to `Registered Service Animals`.

2) The dog must be healthy and up to date on rabies (required every 3 years) and DHPP (vaccines for Distemper, Adenovirus (Hepatitis), Parainfluenza and Parvovirus).

3) The dog must be flea and tick free and current on prevention treatment.

4) Guests will not leave the dog unattended at the home. If dog is unattended, it must be within a kennel or crate.

5) The dog is prohibited from being on furniture unless covered with a provided blanket. Any signs of the dog on furniture without a blanket or proper cover will incur a cleaning fee.

6) The dog is prohibited from being on the guest beds at any time. Evidence of any dog soiling/damage on bed or bedding may incur extra cleaning or replacement fees. Additionally, the dog must also be clean (free of mud, dirt, etc.) before entering the home.

7) Guests will use either the rental yard or the road outside to walk the dog and allow to urinate and defecate. Guests will not let their dog(s) relieve itself in the neighbors’ yards. All solid waste must be bagged and put into trash.

It has a wood stove for heat during cool weather. There is no regular cleaning or maintenance at this cabin and it must be left "as you found it". Bring trash back to main cabin..
The wooded area of my farm is leased by hunters for deer hunting. During the hunting season, Oct-Jan. the hunters may be seen going to or returning from the woods using the lake dam for access. Possibly they may come other times of the year for scouting. I will advise my guests if the hunters will be using the property while my cabin guests are there.

Fishing is great for bass, black crappie, bluegill and catfish. Bring worms or waxworms for bait. Lifejackets are provided. Catch and release only.

Our antique, fully restored cabin is a cozy place to rest in the country. It's great for star watching, bird watching, or gathering by the fire either inside or out. If you love outdoor adventures it would make a great base camp for your hiking, kayaking, or hunting trip. We've tried to make the cabin comfortable but we ask potential visitors to be mindful that it's still a bit rugged, just like the land around it. It's a real country hideaway.

The space
The cabin sits on one acre of land adjacent to our farm. There's a lawn area which is mostly surrounded by shade trees. A creek wraps around the property and offers a nice swimming/fishing hole. There's plenty of paved parking and the driveway/parking area is illuminated by a motion-activated security light. Also available is a basketball hoop, swing set, fire ring (with a sturdy grate that functions as our grill), picnic table, and, in the summer, a hammock.

The cabin is just a few steps from the parking lot and has a front porch, a side deck with a 3-person hot tub, and a set of exterior stairs that goes up to a top deck and entrance. Downstairs is a living area, kitchenette, dining nook, and bathroom with shower. Upstairs are two bedrooms (note: you must walk through the bunk room to get to the other bedroom).

You'll have access to everything on the property except the inside of the barn and shed.

Other things to note
The electric heat in the cabin will only keep you comfortable if the temperature is in the 40s or higher. Any colder and you'll probably want a fire going in the wood stove. During the winter we'll provide plenty of dry firewood on the porch, as well as fire starters and instructions for getting and keeping the wood stove going. During the summer we'll provide enough firewood for you to use the outdoor fire ring each evening.

Some cell phone connections (especially AT&T) are weak here, so we recommend that you connect your phone to our wi-fi and use wi-fi based calling for the best possible service.

There is a 42" TV in the main bedroom upstairs, and a 22" TV in the living room. However, there are no over-the-air channels and there is no streaming or cable service provided. You will need to use screen mirroring or similar functionality from your device and your own streaming subscription if you wish to watch TV. Older phones may not be compatible with these technologies. The TVs will accept an HDMI cable if you'd like to connect a laptop that way, but you will need to bring your own cable. We are happy to help you set up your devices with the TVs upon your arrival, but we don't guarantee a successful connection.

The cabin and grounds may not be the right choice for small children or people with mobility or balance issues. While the exterior stairs are built with standard dimensions, the interior stairs are steep and there is no railing. The stepping stones leading to the cabin are slightly uneven and the step up to the porch is not a standard height. The lower deck has no railing and is 18" above the ground. The slope from the lawn to the swimming hole is steep. Please contact us prior to reserving the cabin if you have concerns about safety or accessibility, and we will advise and accommodate you the best we can.

The house has 1 full (shower) and a half bath downstairs. A half bath is also upstairs with 2 bedrooms and a TV room. The TV room has a fold down futon. It is about 180 yards from the lake and my dock, which I'll share with you. The downstairs includes a desk, couch, kitchen and bath, with a covered patio.

The cabin is also convenient, clean, quiet and comfortable for those working in the area.

The space
Fully equipped, relaxing and convenient to the lake and surrounding area. We are about 10 miles out of Hillsboro with two queen beds and one twin in 2 bedrooms. The futon in the upstairs TV room can be folded down to a full “bed” but the TV room does not have its own door. The downstairs couch also folds out to a small bed if needed.

The path to the lake has a hill, not a Norris Lake hill, but my 85-year-old parents get picked up at the lake gas station. From the front door it is a lasered 177 yards to the dock. You do not have a lake view but I have sat on the dock or at a shard picnic table in the woods for years. I have been making that trek about 20 years from my lake house next door.

BOTH the bedrooms are upstairs and the 180-yard walk to the dock includes a hill. If mobility is an issue, this is not a good fit.

I have a dog kennel if you have dogs/ bird dogs. I'm within 45 minutes of several pheasant preserves and 10s of thousands of acres of public land available for hiking or hunting. The Pike State Forest ATV trails are 15 or so miles away.

Trash is at a central dumpster open Wed noon to 6PM and Sunday noon to 5PM. I will take care of it if I'm around. If you can or need to, the dumpster is out of the cul-de-sacs, left on Heather-Moor trail 100 yards, right on Highland Hills Drive 100 yards to the first left, left on Holiday Way and the trash is the first left. Let me know and I will text Chris you are coming as you need a pass.

Leatherwood Cabin is a small historic bungalow on Cave Road in the heart of the Highlands Nature Sanctuary, a nature preserve within the Arc of Appalachia that protects the deep canyon of the Rocky Fork Gorge. The cabin is perched on a forty-foot bluff overlooking the Rocky Fork Creek and just a half-mile walk to the main visitor center at the Appalachian Forest Museum.

Please note: For safety reasons, the old historic fireplace is not available for use.

The space
Leatherwood has two bedrooms: a master bedroom with a queen bed with a glass door to the deck; and a second bedroom with a double bed. It has a full kitchen with a refrigerator, four-stove burner, French press coffee maker, toaster, and microwave. The living room features the patina and coziness of aged wood paneling, and comfortable upholstered furniture.

Please note: the fireplace is decorative only, not functional.

Leatherwood is closer to the road than our other lodges and sits within a small rural community of summer homes and residences. Typical residence-related sounds, such as barking dogs and lawnmowers may sometimes be audible.

The Zen Suite is perched on the rim of Rocky Fork Gorge within the Highlands Nature Sanctuary. The lodge offers breathtaking views through floor-to-ceiling windows and a serene private deck with Adirondack chairs.

Zen is for adult guests only, due to the danger the deep gorge poses to children. Guests are asked to stay within designated walkways for safety.

The recently updated kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need during your stay to prepare meals including stainless steel appliances and hand crafted butcher block countertop.

The bedrooms are well appointed with comfort in mind from the bedding to storage and sound machines to rest easy at night. The primary suite is exceptionally large offering a king-sized bed, desk, sitting area and an en suite bathroom with walk-in tiled shower and laundry for added convenience.

The dining room provides much versatility with refined spaces to enjoy a meal, game night or kick back with a good book amidst the adorable nook that offers comfortable armchairs and ottoman.

The loft sleeps up to three guests which includes a private half bath and an abundance of storage. A great flex space for kids to play with toys and games provided.

Reconnect with loved ones in this family-friendly cottage on the lake. We are located directly on the lake & offer a privately owned dock for your use. You will find kayaks, lifejackets, and other lake toys waiting for you to enjoy.
Our cottage is simple and clean offering two bedrooms and 1 bath on the main floor and a 3rd Bedroom and Bath in the basement (accessible through outside entrance only). Located at Rocky Fork State Park this is a place you can enjoy anytime of the year.

Of course this is an Amazing Summer Lake getaway but we also enjoy visiting in the fall and winter. The views surrounding the tree lined lake in the fall are awe inspiring and cozying up to the wood burning fireplace in the winter makes for the perfect getaway. *Please take note that the State moves our dock sometime in the fall without giving us a date and puts it back in the spring.
Dock is in place for the 23 season!

Ravenwood is a historic millhouse that overlooks the Rocky Fork Gorge on the west side of the Highlands Nature Sanctuary. It has been fully remodeled into a beautiful light-filled group lodge. The Listening Trail is one of the highlights of staying at Ravenwood and can be accessed right from the backyard, where it descends into a landscape of moss-covered boulders, rock walls, small grottos, and rushing water.

The space
Ravenwood has a fully equipped kitchen with two stoves with eight burners, a refrigerator, a microwave, and a fully stocked kitchen with utensils, plates, and cookware. The living room has a lofted ceiling and two banks of picture windows. A large porch on the front of the house is enhanced with rocking chairs. A sheltered back porch can be used for picnicking. There is an outdoor campfire ring (bring your own wood).

Ravenwood's first floor has a full bath on the hall and 3 bedrooms. Two of the downstairs bedrooms have 2 single beds in each of them, and 1 has a full. . The first floor of the lodge can be rented by individuals, couples, or groups up to six.

Bring your family to this newly-renovated 5 bedroom home in the quiet countryside. With an open floor plan, it’s easy to cook a meal in the fully furnished kitchen, watch a football game on the big screen and visit with the family. The finished out basement adds another fully furnished kitchen, table for 6-10 people, living room, 2 bedrooms and full bath. No pets allowed.

Bedroom 1 is the master bedroom with a king size bed and an attached bathroom.
Bedroom 2 & 3 have queen size beds and share a bathroom.
There is also a small half bath off the kitchen.
Bedroom 4 is the basement with a king size bed.
Bedroom 5 is in the basement with 2 double beds.
A full bathroom with tub and shower is in the basement.
The dining room table on main floor is a table with 6 chairs, but can be extended with table leaves that are stored under the table top and add 2 additional chairs that are provided.
Another extension table is in the basement that can seat 6–10 people.
There is a stacked washer/dryer set in the closet off the dining room.
A fully stocked kitchen with refrigerator, range, microwave, Nespresso machine, coffee maker and cooking utensils. And another furnished kitchen is in the basement for your use as well.
There is an outside entrance to the basement, but also has an inside stairway.
This house is a perfect place where a couple families can be together yet each family can have their own space and privacy.
The main floor living room has 2 couches with recliners and a separate recliner.
The living room in the basement has a sectional couch with 3 recliners. Also a smart TV where the kids (or adults) can watch their favorite shows or movies.

The pond went under renovation so it is slowly filling back up with water. No fishing available right now.

Paint Creek State Park is approximately 15 minutes from the house. Rocky Fork Lake is 30 minutes. And in an hours drive, you can be in Dayton, Columbus, or Cincinnati.

We are pleased to offer dog-friendly accommodations under specific conditions. A $150 per stay pet fee applies and must be collected in advance of your stay. This fee allows for up to 2 dogs, less than 60 lbs.. As a guest of a Lakeside Oasis you agree to adhere to the following policies.
• Pets are not allowed on furniture or bedding. Therefore, all pets must be crated overnight and crated when left unattended for any amount of time.
Please contact Host to arrange pet crate rental if needed.

• Your pet(s) must be leashed at all times when outside on the property. All waste must be picked up and disposed of. No aggressive dogs are allowed on the property.
o Guests will use either the rental yard or the road outside to walk the dog to urinate and defecate. Guests will not let their dog relieve itself in the neighbors’ yards.

• The dog(s) must be flea and tick free and current on prevention treatment.

• As responsible pet owners, Guests agree to accept full and complete responsibility for any personal injury or property damage caused by the dog(s) or suffered by any person during
Guests’ stay at Lakeside Oasis.

• Guests understand that they will be charged accordingly for the repair of any damages, additional cleaning requirements, or flea treatment caused by dog’s presence or behavior. If there is evidence of non-compliance with the policies stated above, penalty fees will apply. Common examples of non-compliance and corresponding penalty fees are listed below.
o $70 Evidence of pet on bedding or furniture (excessive pet hair)
