The water is less than 24" deep at the seawall and has a sand bottom that is great for swimming. There are 2 adult kayaks, 2 kids Kayaks, Paddleboat, and life jackets for adults and kids that you are welcome to use.There is firewood behind the shed for a campfire.

- "We had 11 women for 2 nights and Lakeshore Cottage was a great place. Anna was very responsive to any questions I had leading up to and during our stay. The house was really nice, the bunk room upstairs is cute and was even fine for us adults. I would say though that the stairs are narrow and a bit slippery so an added railing would be beneficial. The yard is large with plenty of chairs and places to hang out. Easy access to the waterfront. The water is very shallow right at the wall and even quite far out. The lake bottom was pretty mucky and full of seaweed, so not great for swimming, but in boats or rafts it’s great. The lake is small and quiet, only a few hours of allowed wake time in the afternoons. Overall I would definitely recommend Anna’s property!"

- "All the furnishings and linens in the house were new and clean. This house had a lot of beds for the number of rooms and we fit in three different households into the three rooms. The rooms were on the smaller side though, and in the room with four guests, we had to store some of our suitcases outside the room because when the trundle was pulled out, it took up most of the floor space. And, none of the rooms have closets. The house is on a nice, forested property a little ways away from other homes on the street. The outdoor entertaining area was tidy and shaded, although we spent a lot of our time away from the house and didn't use it as fully as we could have. The kids especially enjoyed the hammocks and having laundry on site was good.Because we ate most lunches and dinners away from the house, the lack of a dining room table that can seat all guests didn't bother us, but it is something others should be aware of. The only indoor eating area is a small table with four bar stools (a little challenging to sit in for the toddler in our group). At the time of writing this, there was outdoor patio furniture with a coffee table but that also would not seat all eight of us. One last thing to be aware of is that you can hear the train whistles from this property and trains were running periodically during every night of our stay. This noise didn't bother me very much but my sister, who is a light sleeper, did need to use earplugs to block the noise. "

Fern went the extra mile to be sure there were age appropriate toys, books, two booster seats, and even toddler utensils in the drawer. My kids had a blast! I was also able to cook all meals in the well stocked kitchen. My husband and I are over 6'3" and the basement ceiling did get a little low in spots for us, however we are accustom to this issue. Just and FYI if you are tall. However, if we have to come to Elkhart again, we will plan to stay at the same place - it was that great!"

- "Property is as advertised, very clean everything worked. Would go back." - "This was a great house for our extended family to stay for a Notre Dame football game. It is all very new and clean. We stayed in the upper unit, so just know that there is a rental on the bottom floor that is separate." - "The house looks nice in the pictures and has obviously been recently redone. However, there are some major issues - the biggest issue is that the one shower for the property is terrible. The water pressure is awful and barely even came out of the shower head - I had to get on my hands and knees and wash my hair in the lower shower spout, until my husband spent awhile trying to clear the nozzles in the shower head enough to get any water to flow out. The tub does not drain and obviously needs snaked/cleared. Also, whenever someone showers the plumbing leaks and somehow drips down all over the bottom of the stairs that lead to the exit, since this unit is on the second floor. There was no blow dryer and no body wash, and limited extra towels. I’d say it’s stocked to the bare minimum, at best. We were also very disappointed that there was no queen sized bed - only 3 full-size beds. Since we couldn’t see the address before booking, we had no way of knowing this was on a majorly trafficked road. The traffic was super loud at night with trucks and cars vrooming loudly - mostly just an issue because we had our 3 young kids with us. Also wouldn’t recommend this place for kids because there’s no way to block the stairs access and a young child could easily fall down the steep steps to the entry door."

Approximately a 25 minute drive from Notre Dame Campus. You will feel right at home in our house on Simonton Lake. This home is very clean, enjoy relaxing poolside or having a cocktail at the bar watching the game on the outdoor TV; or even in the hot tub overlooking the lake.

We are about an hour away from the nearest casino but if you like to play games at the house we have darts, billiards, Golden Tee, putting green and more!

Also, you will feel safe knowing the Chief Of Police lives right next door and usually has his squad car parked outside.

Guests have the entire house! Rules of the home are as follows: Refund Policy Peak Season:
• While we accommodate a generous cancellation policy in the "off-season", we consider our peak season to be the time inclusive of Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. During this time, we follow a strict policy and offer a 50% off refund up to 30 days before arrival.

Cameras:
• Exterior surveillance cameras at the entrances serve as an extra security measure and are not intended for monitoring guests, except in cases of suspicious activity. We kindly request that they remain on and the Wi-Fi is not unplugged during your stay. In the event that cameras become non-functional, we may need to investigate the premises.

Noise:
• The house is located in a quiet residential area. We love our neighbors and kindly request that you keep noise to a minimum after 10pm and before 7am.

Shoes:
• We treat this place like our own, please no shoes in the upstairs level, in any bedrooms or on furniture.

Unregistered guests:
• Please note that only guests listed on the reservation and the online guest check-in form are allowed on the property. If you would like to have visitors who won't be staying overnight, this will be at the discretion of the host. Likewise, the reservation total guest count cannot be modified without an additional guest charge.

Cleaning and Checkout:
• We try to leave a 5-star review for all of our guests! Please clean up after yourselves within reason. Save travels and leave the rest to us!
•. During our busy season, we implement a $250 late check out fee if guests depart after 10:30, as well as a $250 early check in fee if guests enter the home before 4:00pm. Our cleaners arrive immediately after check out and can be at the house until the next check in.

Smoking:
• Please no smoking on the property.

Boat Rules:
• There will be a $750.00 deposit collected prior to using the Pontoon for incidentals.

• We will give a boat orientation upon check in. We are flexible with this and will work with our guests on the best time for you. Each patron on the boat will need to sign a liability contract and no unregistered guests are permitted on the boat.

• Please avoid driving up and down the channels, as they are very tight and are used for leaving and returning to a pier.

• No tubing is allowed on the boat.

• There is no smoking on the boat.

• Lastly, please use lake etiquette and follow all posted speed limits.

Boat Usage & Mechanical Issues Disclaimer

While we strive to keep the boat in excellent working condition, please understand that unforeseen mechanical issues can occasionally arise. In the event the boat becomes unavailable for use during your stay due to a mechanical problem, we will issue a refund of $100 per day for each full day the boat is not operational, excluding the day of checkout.

We are not a full time rental and only offer our lake home occasionally for rental. Which means we have high quality amenities and take great pride in our home! All bedding is cleaned and sanitized from the mattress protector up. Closets, dressers, pantry, fridge and drawers are all emptied and ready for your personal belongings. No awkward feelings that you're in someone else's house, it's all yours during your stay! We've worked really hard to update it and think your family will have a great time here. -1st floor bedroom with Full bed is small and cozy. It has an open closet to hang your clothes and luggage rack for your suitcase.

-1st floor bedroom with Queen bed, desk, spacious closets and window. All baby/child gear is located in the closet of this room. Please let us know if you'd like the crib set up before arrival. Crib has adjustable heights that we can adjust for you upon request.

-2nd floor bedroom has 2 double beds and a twin bunk bed. Twin bunk bed is located in separate area which includes a window and reading niche. There are French doors you can close for privacy to the bunk bed area. This room is set up to sleep up to 6.

-2nd floor "Master" has a king bed, pull out couch, spacious closets, views of the lake and a sitting/tv room.

-1st floor shower is a stand-up shower. Laundry washer/dryer is located in the closet of this bathroom.

-Kitchen has all the amenities you might need and recently updated.

-Iron eradicator/ water softener located in the 1st floor laundry area regenerates from 3-4am. When this happens, it makes a loud water rushing noise. Water should not be used for the 1-hour timeframe while this is happening. Good news, the iron eradicator removes rust and smelly sulfur from the water. The water is safe to drink (and very good for you!). Without this system, your shower and water would be stinky and yellow. It’s a tradeoff for lake living.

-There is a red light in the garage that tells us if there’s an issue with the sewer grinder. If it lights up or alarms, please contact us to have professionals come out to see what the issue is. Only toilet paper and natural waste is allowed to be flushed. The entire lake and surrounding homes share a sewer system to keep our lake fresh and clean. Please only use toilet paper provided. If you need more toilet paper, please let us know or be sure to purchase toilet paper that quickly dissolves and breaks down in water. Charmin toilet paper is known to wreak havoc on these systems.

-Please be respectful to our neighbors. Our next-door neighbors are full time residents and very kind. Be sure to stay within property lines and within the immediate shore/beach area. Please stay off of their piers and property.

-lake traffic flows counterclockwise. Swimmers should stay out of boat lanes or stay within 100 ft from shore. Our side of the lake is shallow (2-3 feet deep for about 100ft) and has a nice sandy bottom free of seaweed!

-Pets are not allowed. Unauthorized pets will be charged a fee of $100 a day plus any additional damages and deep cleaning fees.

-No smoking

-Feel free to use the provided amenities during your stay, but please only leave with what you came with. Unused amenities are to remain in the house upon check out.

-VRBO verified adult must stay at the home during the duration of the stay. Minors must have adult supervision and cannot be left alone overnight. Basically, you can't rent the house then drop your kids or minors off for the weekend unsupervised. Violation of this rule will result in a fine of $500 per night and/or removal of guests from the home without a refund. Please refer to VRBO rules and regulations regarding minors. Unfortunately, this has occurred and is why we have initiated this house rule.

is a wooded private park like setting with river on 2 sides of the property. Quiet yet close to so many opportunities close by. We have 2 guest comfy guestrooms (each room is booked separately) with a full bathroom right outside the guestroom door. We have 2 little dogs that are very friendly but do not have full run of our home.

The Boho Bungalow is an updated 1920's bungalow with plenty of traditional charm. Wood floors, built ins and vintage kitchen make it cozy and welcoming. It's perfect for traveling professionals or families needing short term housing while visiting the Elkhart/South Bend area. The home is just blocks from Elkhart General Hospital and is very convenient to downtown Elkhart, Granger and South Bend. It's less than 15 miles from Notre Dame.

The space
There is a large rear yard , great for playing yard games and walking your pets. A picnic table and charcoal grill are provided for cooking outside if desired. There is a great covered front porch for sitting, but note that the street out front can be a little busy at times.
The area is very walkable and there is a very nice river front park near by. The park has walking paths, a spray park, a playground, tennis courts and an outdoor theater with summer concerts.

Please be sure to include your pets on the guest list if you are bringing them. I have made the house pet friendly with all inside plants being non toxic to cats and dogs. Although it is a peaceful, quiet retreat away from the hassle of Notre Dame/South Bend traffic, it is convenient to everything! The studio is close to restaurants and bars, the 80/90 toll road, parks and beaches in the summer, and snowmobile trails in the winter.

There is typically only room for one car to park, but arrangements may be made for multiple cars with prior notice.

This is the (private) basement unit of a home occupied by the owner. You will have your own entrance and the unit comes with a full kitchen, all appliances, private bathroom, and free washer and dryer.

You will also have access to the outdoor screened-in patio and shared beach space at the edge of the lake. The fire pit, kayaks, and paddleboard are available for your use.

Note that the owner may be on the property at various times throughout your stay.

Other things to note
Please do not book this property if you are looking for a place to have a party or large family gathering. This is a residential home and neighborhood. Any violation of this and you will be asked to leave.

This is a studio apartment. While it can fit four adults with the sofa bed, there is no divider between rooms.

Note that there is a very friendly dog on the property with an invisible fence, who you may meet during your stay. Pets may be welcomed in the unit with further review.

This is a lake property and alongside all the good that brings, it also involves geese. Canadian Geese are federally protected, which means that we cannot forcibly relocate them. We have implemented windmills, sound devices, and laser pointers to some success, but the geese are still active in the area. While we do everything we can to pick up their droppings, we cannot guarantee that it will not be on the property.
