On the Cove is a spacious three-room apartment is located directly on Lanes Cove in Lanesville (Gloucester) with spectacular ocean views from every room and is literally steps to the water’s edge. It has a private entrance, full kitchen, living room, bedroom with queen bed, off-street parking, private patio with custom granite fire pit and yard.

On the Cove (our house and apartment) was used as a movie set in 2017. You can search for "Katie Fforde: Herzenssache" to find the movie trailer online (it is in German). The property was used extensively, as well as surrounding landmarks such as the Fish Shack and along the rocky coast. If you are a nature lover, you'll love our location. 200 yards or so in either direction will lead you to treasured habitats on foot. You can choose a secluded salt/freshwater inlet where you can launch a kayak, paddleboard, or jump in for a swim, or you can choose to explore the maze of trails in Ravenswood Park on foot or by bike (gorgeous fall leaf peeping). Up for a picnic, then pack one up and enjoy the sea breeze at Stage Fort Park, a mile down the road. When nightlife calls, whether be it fine dining or eating in the rough, the city of Gloucester or the town of Essex awaits your visit. Ready for the big beaches, get your towels and sand chairs (we have both for you to use) to head for Good Harbor or Wingersheek Beach. Singing Beach in Manchester-By-The-Sea is easily reached within 10 minutes by following the route we live on, Rt 127. Two train stations are close by for a day trip to Salem, MA or to Boston.

The unit has a nice flow: open kitchen to living room, long hallway leads to separate bedrooms off to each side, bathroom access from hallway and blue bedroom, separate private deck and an additional 'reading' room. A 55" smart flatscreen tv offers you the ability to hook up to your Internet, cable tv or you can relax to enjoy iheart radio. Search for your favorite music or maybe you'll like my favorites: Nat King Cole radio, Easy Jazz, and Benny Goodman Greats.

Our cozy bedrooms feature 2 twin XL beds each with new 10" memory foam mattresses to give you a good night's sleep - AC is avail in every room or if you prefer, we have plenty of fans. The master bedroom leads to a spacious private roof top deck that everyone can share. Our bathroom is large and features accessories you may need such as that iron and ironing board to smooth out travel wrinkles. Did forget your toothpaste, sunscreen, or other small cosmetic staple, we probably have it avail. Tired and want some time alone, our converted Victorian style sleeping porch will offer you an oversized chair with ottoman for quiet reading or dozing off. If there is a member of your party who snores, we can setup a makeshift bed in this room, AC avail in here as well.

My wife and I are easy going and our place is known for our Freshwater cove friends to stop by our firepit. You're welcome to join us. People describe us as being generous, friendly and helpful. Located on a quiet side street in the seaside neighborhood of Rocky Neck, a peninsula that hangs out into Gloucester Harbor. The house is on a very private, and quiet street which ends at the water where there is a boat ramp (about 80 feet from the property). Here, you can launch your kayak, canoe, or paddle-board (nothing larger).

Rocky Neck is a fun, festive art colony with many active music-filled restaurants and art galleries. The Gloucester Stage Company is a 7 minute walk. There is a small beach around the corner for swimming, and Good Harbor Beach, one of the top beaches on the North Shore, is just 7 minutes away by car.

• Easily sleeps two but can accommodate 3-4 (family or good friends), with full-size sleep sofa.
• The whole unit has central AC, plus there’s a ceiling fan in the bedroom. The sea breezes from Gloucester Harbor often create a lovely freshness to the place, so you can turn off the AC and open the windows to let in the breeze!
• New Samsung Smart TV with multiple cable channels. Premium channels not included, but Netflix, Prime, etc. is easily accessed. Roku is available, please enquire.
• There is a two burner gas grill on the sun deck by the kitchen, and if you need something bigger, there is a four burner gas grill at the back of the building, Grilling tools are provided.
• There is a laundromat about a ½ mile away and cleaning supplies are provided in the townhouse, if needed.
• This is a safe and friendly area where people often don't even lock doors! But I prefer that you lock anyway. There is an outdoor key box.

It is a great getaway for a couple or single person to enjoy the summer in this lovely area. Gloucester and Cape Ann abound with many cultural and recreational activities. In Gloucester, enjoy whale watching, large sailboat cruises and many cultural activities and events from Saint Peter's Fiesta in late June to the Tall Ships Parade and Mayor's Cup Race over Labor Day. Nearby in Rockport you can browse around Bear Skin Neck, view incredible scenery including "Motif #1", explore Halibut Point State Park, attend a concert at the Rockport Music-Shalin Liu Performance Center or a dance performance at Windhover in Rockport. There are plenty things to do on Cape Ann!

Get away to the edge of the world, in the quiet village of Lanesville within historic Gloucester, in this beachy, serene 3-floor home. Just steps to the water, of Lanes Cove, for swimming, kayak launch or walks on the famous wall. Skylights in the top floor bedroom wake you up as though in a treehouse, enjoy swimming in Lanes Cove, and patio seating to take in the ocean air. Up the street, 2 minutes walking distance, is a liquor store with excellent selection & amenities, a cafe, and a post office. Two Parking Spaces for your use, next to the unit. Please note that the overall parking area is shared with two other units, your neighbors; hence your 2 car limit. CATA is a local bus that comes around every 50 minutes, and can take you into downtown Gloucester, or up Rt 127 towards Rockport. Gloucester Taxi & Livery Service can take you around Cape Ann, but since the pandemic, probably not as far as Boston Logan Airport. Also--The Commuter Rail out of Rockport, Downtown Gloucester, or West Gloucester, takes you directly into North Station in Boston.

Quaint home steps from Plum Cove Beach in Lanesville, a seaside village in Gloucester MA.
The house was built in the late 1800's. It has old charm with wood floors throughout and cozy small rooms. Much of the house has been upgraded for more modern comfort with all new windows, doors, kitchen with granite breakfast counter, full bathroom, heating system, central air, ceiling fans, and lots of New England charm. You will find the wood stairs to the second floor are original to the house and are slightly steeper than the present day code. The landscape is naturalized with granite walls and stairs from our local quarries.
Gloucester is peaceful and quiet during the winter months. The Cape Ann coastline is picturesque in its winter glory, a truly magical place for a winter retreat. The warmer months offer a huge range of seaside activities. Gloucester is truly a gem.

The Loft at Lane's Cove is a top floor, front to back unit with separate Queen bedroom and bath. Exposed high wood ceilings, skylight and wall of sliding glass doors keeps this unit bright and open while imparting a truly relaxing feeling. All walls are freshly painted in muted coastal colors and most of the furnishings are new 2013. The Loft has a European-style air conditioning wall unit, a ceiling fan in the bedroom and one in the living room. Recent 2022/2023 renovations include a new bathroom, new deck and deck furniture and new Nectar Queen mattress!!

The Loft at Lane's Cove is located on the top floor of what was once the old Lanesville 'Engine House', in the heart of the Village. The first floor of the building has been a restaurant, antique store and a private residence. It is now the owner's private office space, used only during the week. The top floor unit remains quiet and private.

Step out your door into the morning sunshine and grab a cup of coffee, pastry(or lunch) and newspaper at Cove Cafe three doors down. The post office, Prana Salon and the Lanesville Package Store, which offers a great selection of wine,

The space

The home is well cared for, clean, quaint, and quiet with amazing views of the ocean and seawall, just across the street. The heart of the home – the kitchen – is newly remodeled, with glowing, freshly installed pine floors.

If you’re staying in the winter, the house is well-heated via either oil or electric heat, but it can get a little chilly, as the temperatures outside drop below freezing. Turn it up, put on some cozy socks, grab a snuggly blanket, and enjoy this most amazing place to watch a winter storm sweep over the ocean! And… let us know if we can send a snow shoveler to you (it costs extra, but is well worth it).

You will see this classic home in many of the old historic pictures of Lanesville (a part of Gloucester and just 1/2 mile from Halibut point and the Rockport county line). This unique artists’ community offers a perfect place to retreat. It's an easy, 3-minute walk from the house to the small row of stores Lanesville offers, which includes a liquor store with a great wine and beer selection and last-minute snacks, Prana Salon to get spiffed up a bit, and the Cove Cafe to enjoy a coffee, breakfast, or lunch. You’ll feel like you stepped back in time… in a good way.

This house is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the village of Annisquam, a small cape, as well as all that Gloucester and Rockport have to offer - good music, theatre, museum, restaurants and history. The house sits back from the road and there is garden space to relax and enjoy the view with great privacy. A short walk brings you to private Lighthouse Beach which is very suitable for children.

The space
You would be hard pressed to find a more beautiful spot than Annisquam especially one near very vibrant towns. The house itself is charming, looking somewhat as if it were truly an old cape. Guests will be toward the back of the house and have great privacy. The room which has a queen sized bed also has a door to the outside and a bathroom just for itself. It is preferable for guests to use the door from the room to avoid having to walk through my house. I serve a small breakfast of muffins and fruit in the morning, either in my kitchen which is through the sliding door on the side of the house or outside at the patio table.

There is a separate entrance around the back of the house. I am happy to serve you breakfast There will be coffee, tea and muffins for you either outside or in my kitchen if its chilly. For lunch and dinner you are on your own.

During your stay
I am more than willing to help you with the many things you can do in this area as well as with restaurants and information on the various goings on here. I have mostly updated brochures on places to visit, other beaches in the area and can tell you about many interesting places to visit in neighboring towns should you want to.

Other things to note
My room and the main living area are quite separate so you should be able to enjoy privacy. I have a small dog who does not shed and whom I will keep apart from the guests if they so choose. Best to keep the glass door shut as he may want to visit you.

Guests have access to the kitchen to make coffee or tea and store a few things in the fridge. The dining room and back deck are also available to sit, relax and read the paper and soak up the sunshine.

Host is on premise full time. She is happy to chat, offer recommendations and share local knowledge to the degree guests need or desire. She is an enthusiastic Gloucester resident and enjoys sharing her experiences with visitors. At the same time, she respects privacy and is not intrusive.

The space
Covid 19 has impacted all or us, but we still would like a change of pace and enjoy safe spaces and beautiful areas.
Our loft is a stand alone apartment, meaning you would be the only ones in the space. We will have it cleaned and ready for your arrival. We provide sheets and towels but some are bringing their own. Good Harbor Beach is aprox. 1.5 miles away, Niles Beach is aprox. 3/4 mile away, very doable walk.(You can reserve parking on line at Good Harbor and Wingaersheek Beaches) There are beautiful walks and hikes nearby, bike riding and areas to put your kayak or paddle board in for a paddle around the harbor. Rocky Neck offers nooks and crannies to hang out and relax. Come join us- we will be safe and respectful.

The loft has a unique cottage like feel in a comfortable studio set up, max 2 people. High quality memory foam mattress for full size bed. The space is pine wood paneled with 3 skylights, newly finished pine floor. This is an ideal space for artists or people who enjoy being in a neighborhood surrounding, wanting to get away from it all. This studio apartment has all the amenities and comfort with some sea side feeling and character. There is NO heat except a small space heater. Bathroom and shower are down a short flight of stairs, for your use only, with a timed heater. The lower level is used as a storage space and for gardening tools, on occasion we may need to enter to get one. PLEASE NOTE; stairs are a little steeper and narrower than regular stairs- similar to attic stairs.

We do not provide beach chairs. You can leave your bikes secured downstairs in the loft.

On street parking or in public lot on Rockyneck Ave. . You have your own entrance and private living space with shared 'garden/yard storage' on lower level, where you can stow your luggage. St. Peter's Fiesta is usually the last week of June. Leave your car, walk or take the water shutter or trolley into town. ( 2 miles away)

The cottage entrance is completely separate from the main house. You will pick up your key in the lock box and enter through french doors. You enter into the main living area, where there is a sectional sofa, which opens up into an extra bed. The main room includes a kitchenette and television. The back door leads out to a private patio space for relaxing, reading a book or just having an afternoon drink. There is a mud room and bathroom off to the left, which includes a beautiful glassed in shower and sink. Upstairs is the private bedroom with cathedral ceilings, a queen size memory foam bed and large TV, which includes cable and Apple TV. The entire cottage has access to wireless internet. Parking space for one car in front of the cottage. An additional car can be parked on the street.

The North Shore Arts Association (0.4 mi.) features a stunning gallery space in a refurbished harbor-side building. For intimate professional theater, the Gloucester Stage Company is .5 mile walk. A little over a mile south, Niles Beach is at the harbor entrance or walk a mile north to gorgeous Good Harbor beach. Rocky Neck artists colony is a 10min walk to galleries and restaurants.

I have a tenant who spends his winters here, so its possible for longer term stays, but you have to be okay with a finished basement level space, with only coffee maker, microwave, small fridge, TV, chairs, bed, separate bath/shower.

The bedrooms are great for a family visit as there are many sleeping options. Bedroom #1 has a queen bed , twin bed, and a loft with a camping mattress. Bedroom #2 has a twin bed, and a loft with a twin mattress. In the room, there is also a sleeping nook for a young child or toddler. Or come as a single party or couple and spread out!
Note: there is no air-conditioning!

In the kitchen, guests may use the refrigerator, microwave and make coffee and tea. Heating leftovers from last night's dinner out and fixing a sandwich are fine. However, there is a no cooking policy in place.

We share the living space downstairs, however the 2 upstairs bedrooms and full bathroom is a private space for guests. We, the owners, do not go upstairs. Hope this is helpful! This is a cozy 3-bedroom beach house with an open layout located at the end of a small street in a quiet neighborhood. A 20 min walk from Good Harbor beach and local grocery stores. It features a semi-private back yard and a large porch for grilling out. Perfect for a vacation or short getaway.​

Guests with children are welcome, but the house has not been childproofed. No pets are allowed. ​

Comfortable older home with updated bathrooms located two blocks from Atlantic Ocean’s Rocky shoreline and 1.5 miles to beautiful Good Harbor’s sandy beach. Downtown Gloucester is about 3 miles away with shops and restaurants.

The space
This turn of the century home is located in a peaceful location in East Gloucester, MA and two blocks from Bass Rocks (Atlantic Ocean), and close to historic Rocky Neck Art Colony, with shops and restaurants. It is also close to popular wedding venues: one mile from The Elks, 2.5 miles from Cruiseport and 3 miles from Beauport Hotel. There are two beaches nearby: Good Harbor Beach located 1.5 miles away and Niles Beach located about 1 mile away. The downtown area and harborfront area with shops & restaurants is about a 10 minute drive. There are bicycles available for use during your stay. Your room has a queen bed and private bath with shower. There is also a TV streaming Netflix and Amazon Prime, a small refrigerator, keurig, toaster & microwave and an Air Conditioner for hot nights.

Bathtub/shower with grab bar in large bathroom; kitchenette and small deck. Quiet hilly street surrounded by trees is a 10 minute walk to Good Harbor Beach. Downtown Gloucester is a short walk with shops, restaurants, museums, whale watch, boat cruises.

The whole studio is yours to access, and yours alone. This is a self-sufficient space with its own entrance.

Other things to note
The location is steep but with nice views overlooking the City. The walk to Good Harbor Beach is lovely.
