Perched 80 feet above and overlooking Big Walnut Creek, Smith Cabin offers peace, seclusion, and a deep connection to nature. Enjoy quiet mornings on the front porch, evenings around the campfire patio, or restful afternoons in the stunning screened-in back deck—suspended in the treetops and complete with a bed for sleeping on milder nights.

Inside, the 1000 sq. foot A-frame is warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully furnished with all modern comforts, including memory foam beds (sleeper sofa, too), blackout curtains for restful sleep, and a well-equipped kitchen.

IMPORTANT upper level note: The upper level is all one space with no door between BR1 and BR2. Also, the steps to the upper level are somewhat steep, but EASY and SAFE to use when navigated like a ladder. However, some prefer/need to sleep on the main level, on the comfy sofa sleeper, to eliminate navigating the steep steps.

This Property located on racoon lake. Great place to wake up and go fishing and swimming. As well as there is public hunting grounds, located not too far from property in Parke county. This is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom small cabin style that makes a perfect getaway for families and hunters. This property is on well water, and has a grill. Perfect place to make memories!

Stairs were steep. Cabin was close to turkey run and Rockville shops. The lake entrance is a little hard to get to, down lots of steps, not great to swim at that spot. The cabin is not as secluded as you would think from the photos - the neighbors are very close by and there are no curtains in almost any of the windows (master bedroom is the only one with curtains). Not a whole lot of privacy. We were still able to have a campfire and enjoy the outdoors. "

As the closest residential home to the DePauw University main campus, our neighborhood is shared by several campus buildings and student residences. To the rear is the Delta Tau Delta fraternity house. You may occasionally hear music playing during the day or in the evening. The members of the house are careful to end all activities by a reasonable hour, so you likely won't be disturbed, but please be aware of this when classes are in session if events are taking place. Our neighbors across the street are members of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity house. They are equally cautious about being respectful of the neighborhood by keeping things quiet and you shouldn't be bothered by them, but just a heads up if you see any activity in their front yard. You'll enjoy the entire house and even have a private garage, should you choose. Parking is either in the extra-wide, 2-car garage, in front of the garage on the concrete driveway, or in front of the house on the street. Free parking is plentiful throughout the historic district. ACCESSIBILITY NOTE: While the Major Dunbar House features a comfortable first-floor master bedroom suite, access to the house requires navigating a few stairs in front, or in back. Please be aware of this detail as the house is NOT wheelchair accessible. Guests with mobility concerns may find difficulty walking up the front steps. Welcome to the enchanting Trillium House located ON the campus of DePauw University. We are just a few doors south of FIJI, Theta, Longden Hall, and Bishop Roberts.
Step back in time as you walk in from the covered porch into the fabulous, 1890 Victorian that features 4(5) Bedrooms (3 Queens, 1 Twin, and a Day bed with pull out trundle) and 3.5 bathrooms fully stocked with towels, soaps, and hairdryers. Inside you'll be greeted by 14 foot ceilings, large windows trimmed in rich, dark woodwork. Don't forget to play a game of cards at in the DePauw Sports themed Game room or host a large gathering for a meal around a table that seats 8 comfortably. Then head out the back door to find a 1/2+ acre enclosed yard that will provide lovely evenings around a gas firepit in Adirondak chairs under large trees.

Enter through the front door using the simple keypad. The living room greets you upon entering where you will find room to hang your jackets before settling into the comfortable seating option with the sofa, loveseat, and accent chair. The Roku TV is available for your entertainment as are a variety of board games. Comfort is guaranteed with the variety of throw pillows and blankets.

The first bedroom entered through a sliding door offers a queen bed (new mattress!), wardrobe closet, nightstands, and antique roll top desk. A full length mirror is located on the front of the wardrobe. Both windows feature room darkening curtains. There is an exterior door which we keep locked and there is a pull down shade on this window as well.

The second bedroom offers a king bed (new mattress!), two nightstands, closet and desk space. Get ready for your day in the antique gold wall mirror! As in the first bedroom, you will find room darkening curtains as well as a pull down shade on the locked exterior door.

The kitchen features newly painted cabinetry and black leathered granite countertops as well as new appliances (stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker). The cabinets and drawers are stocked with all of your cooking and dining essentials! Coffee and tea are provided by the host as well as an assortment of snacks!

Conveniently located in the kitchen is the cozy breakfast nook which serves as the dining space. This hand built bench comfortably seats 3 adults.

The laundry room provides a brand new washer and dryer. Laundry detergent is available for your use!

The bathroom features a shower/tub combo. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided. A variety of bathroom essentials are also there to meet your needs and keep you comfortable!

The back door to the house is located in the kitchen which leads you out onto the back deck and into the very spacious back yard secured by a privacy fence.

The space
Our home has been equipped to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We have stayed in hotels and houses while visiting our children at their colleges. What we learned during those visits -- good and bad -- has informed how we have decorated and stocked this home for your enjoyment. The kitchen is not huge, but it includes a butler pantry that is well stocked with enough plates, glassware and utensils to make entertaining very easy. You can stock up the refrigerator, cook a meal on the stove or in the oven. For quick bites or snacks there is a microwave or a four slot toaster. In the morning, grab your choice of coffee and use our Keurig. We have stocked the kitchen with a full set of cookware and a wide array of utensils, bowls, spoons, etc.

Guest access
Make our house your home while you are using it. The front porch is a great place to relax and watch the action on Washington Street. No space is off limits, however, the attic and basement areas are unfinished at this time.

Other things to note

Access is via a large, black, metal door with a glass window to the left of Scoops Ice Cream shop on Indiana Street.

NOTE ON ACCESSIBILITY:

While we do have access to an elevator, the primary access to the Loft is through a staircase at street-level.

Even when using the elevator, you will still need to navigate 5 stairs up or down to reach the elevator, so please be aware of this detail when planning your stay as the Loft is not wheelchair accessible and individuals with mobility concerns might find difficulty with navigating the steps. We are happy to clarify additional details on access in advance of your stay. Just let us know!

Our home is located in an upscale neighborhood just minutes from DePauw University. Walking trails are nearby.

The space
We have 3 bedrooms with queen sized beds in each. If you need more sleeping space, we have a queen sized air mattress we can provide with sheets and pillows. We have a large kitchen and dining room area where you will have all the amenities as you do at home. Our living room is cozy with a gas fireplace and a 75 inch tv where you can watch all your favorite channels or watch a movie.

We have a hot tub which you can access anytime. This is perfect for our guests after a long day of shopping, hiking, visiting DePauw, etc.

We have a large back yard and wonderful neighbors. Our neighborhood is quiet and safe. Well lit at night and safe to take early morning or late night walks.

Guest access
You can use all spaces on the first two floors. As I said in my "other details," DePauw University recently bought our daughter's house on campus and she is currently living in a studio apartment in the basement. She is rarely home on the weekends and she has a separate entrance into her studio apt. so you will have complete privacy. She will also park in a different spot during your stay so you will have the entire driveway for you and your guests vehicles. You can comfortably fit 4-5 vehicles in the driveway and you have street access in front of our home.

You will access our home in the front with a key pad.

Other things to note
We do own 2 sweet cats, but they stay in the basement so they won't bother our guests.
We keep a very clean home, however, if you are allergic to cats, you might want to stay elsewhere.

Recently DePauw University bought our daughter's home and she is currently living in the studio apartment in our basement. She is rarely home on the weekends and has a separate entrance so you won't be disturbed. She will park on the street so you will have full access to our driveway.

Please note: Our daughter will not be in her studio apartment during DePauw's graduation weekend!

Spring thru Fall, guests at The Pond House can enjoy:
