The space
This elegant home located on the top floor has been styled and furnished with your comfort in mind. From complimentary snacks, drinks, coffees and even exercise equipment you will feel instantly welcome and looked after.
The spacious master bedroom features a large luxurious king bed with super soft linen, a wall mounted big screen TV, plenty of storage space with dual closets and a large dresser. There is a yoga mat and weights for those that don’t want to miss a workout and there is also a cot available for young families as well as a arm chair by the window.
The second bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed and also features amazing storage with dual closets and a dresser with a mirror. The lovely light filled room is kept cool in summer with its own AC unit and warm in winter with separate heating.
The main bathroom is bright and spacious with a full size shower/bath, a single vanity and toilet as well as plush white towels for each guest and complimentary bathroom amenities.
Continue down the wide hallway and you will find the elegant open plan living/dining area with two beautiful big bay windows. The two large comfy sofas frame the living area along with a huge TV, perfect for spending the night in watching a movie.
The adjoining dining area features a stately colonial style dining table which comfortably sits 6 people and is the ideal place to enjoy your dinner with views out to the city.
Step through into the sun filled kitchen that has everything you could need to cook up a culinary masterpiece including an oven, stove top, microwave and a full size fridge/freezer stocked with a range of complimentary cold drinks.
Also in the kitchen is the breakfast island bar with stools, the perfect place for a morning coffee or to sit and keep the chef company while they cook away. A coffee machine with an assortment of coffee flavours is also available during your stay as well as a fully stocked fruit bowl.
You have your own private access to the property via the side stairs which lead up to a lovely balcony and double glass entrance doors. To get inside there is an electronic keypad with no need for a key.

Things to consider before booking:

1) Parties or large gatherings are not allowed. Violation of this rule will result in cancellation of your reservation with no refund.

2) Visitors who are not registered as guests are welcome during the day, but they cannot stay overnight without our prior approval. Please be aware that we have Ring cameras at both entrances for your safety and ours. We can see if additional guests arrive.

3) We want you to enjoy yourself at our home, but please be mindful of the noise levels at all times. Please keep the volume of music, TV, conversations, etc at a reasonable level during the day and lower it after 10 p.m. until 8 a.m.

4) We love pets. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate other pets at our property. Please do not bring any pets or animals to our home (service animals excluded) without our prior approval. If we find any evidence of pets or animals at our property, we will charge you an extra cleaning fee of $200. 5) We can’t stress this enough: This is a quiet neighborhood. If you’re looking for a place to unwind and get a good night sleep, this is the place. If you’re looking for a place to have a party this is not the home for you. In addition, all children and young adults must be chaperoned at all times

A incredibly comfortable king-sized bed and plush pillows will have you peacefully sleeping the night away. Bed fits up to three people, if needed.

Get away for the whole summer! Our peaceful cottage is walking distance (17 min) from Greenlawn Village and LIRR (it takes 60 min by train to get to Penn Station). It is also located 4 miles between two great towns of Long Island North Shore; Huntington and Northport. Monthly only starting June 22nd until August 29th. Check-in is generally flexible except for Sundays. Sunday's check-ins are limited from 7a-10a and 7p-11p.

The space
Our 1-bedroom pied-à-terre has everything you need to feel at home. It features a full kitchen, full washing/drying machine and bathroom with tub. You can also enjoy 2 private workspaces with high-speed Wi-Fi and outside access to green space for your own BBQ or to play spikeball.

Other things to note
In Huntington Village you can find restaurants, quaint shops, and The Paramount concert venue and free evening concerts in Hecksher Park all summer.

In Northport Village you can find restaurants, quaint shops, walk Northport Park and pier and see a musical or play at The John Engeman Theater.

Lower level of high ranch apartment includes large LR/kitchen, separate BR & private bath. Nice queen bed with great new mattress, pullout couch in LR, laundry room, 2 TV's, Wifi, etc. It is a separate apartment from upstairs of house where I live. Quiet area of Huntington, easy access to train, LIE, etc although not much in walking distance. Off street parking for 1 car and that is all Im allowed to have per town short term rental rules.

The space
Lower level of hi ranch includes large LR/kitchen combo and separate BR. Fully furnished with queen sized bed. There is also a pullout couch and love seat in LR. You will have key to house & separate, lower level apartment to come & go as you please. In season there is a beautiful yard with in ground pool, can arrange schedules for use. (Pool season is generally open beginning of June to shortly after Labor day. Please check for exact dates if your visit is around then.)

Nice quiet residential street not far from Huntington village and even closer to town of Greenlawn, train to NYC etc. LR has 3 windows and gets good sunlight late afternoons. Since the house is on a hill, the BR and part of the kitchen are subgrade but both of those have small windows.

There is full tub/shower in updated bathroom. Plenty of closets, washer & dryer. Kitchen has fridge/freezer, double sink, stove top (no oven), plus microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and teapot. There are dishes, pots, pans etc in cabinets. Towels & linens are provided. There is an AC & a Smart TV in LR and another TV in BR. I have a roof antennae for main TV which gets about 80 channels plus all the apps are available. The BR TV is just Roku and apps such as Tubi which works great. There is no AC in the BR however the one from LR can cool it down. There are 2 fans, a music system with radio, CD etc.

PLEASE READ THE NEXT 3 PARAGRAPHS:
There are quite a few steps to get into the house without a hand railing; not a problem for most people but has presented a challenge for a few older guests.
The few negative comments Ive received have mainly been during prolonged wet/humid periods (often late Summer) when the apt. can have a slight damp smell to those sensitive to that, so please consider whether that may bother you. There is a dehumidifier and air filter you can choose to run, but most don't need them, as the AC and fans help greatly.

Also most are not at all concerned by the oil burner, which occasionally runs in a separate room near the bedroom, but was an issue for a more sensitive guest. In summary I would say if you are looking "pristine", or "totally updated" this is probably not the place for you. It's not the "Four Seasons" and priced accordingly! Same goes for pool, here on Shady Lane, its very hard to prevent leaves, etc from falling in and a little algae. The water is generally crystal clear and depending on my work schedule, it may not be "pristine", but fine for swimming. Please ask if you have questions.

I say all that b/c well over 90% of guests love it here, some have returned 3 or 4 times. But now and then I get someone who is very fussy about minor things, typical of an older house, or things Ive already mentioned like steps or potential for humidity. If you are generally easy going and like a homey, somewhat retro style feel, then your positive energy will be added to the "house of tranquility here"!

I will be happy to assist you plan visit to nearby attractions, (For example within minutes Walt Whitman house & Sagamore Hill - Teddy Roosevelt's estate, gold coast mansions such as Vanderbilt, great kayaking along the Nisseaquogue River,etc) towns, beaches, restaurants, east end wineries etc.

If you forget something let me know, I may have it. You can borrow a bicycle, fishing polls, etc. Free amazing magic upon request too!

2 night minimum typically applies, particularly for weekends. We do not rent for parties or movie shoots! Im only allowed 1 car out front as town has tried to shut down short term rentals, and can only have 2 for a short stay and at least 1 will be gone for much of the time.

I encourage longer term stays, with 27% discount on monthly stays! Weekly stays are discounted by 10%.

PET POLICY: Due to problems with previous guests' pets, the following rules apply. Well behaved pets are allowed at $50 per stay per pet.. Pets should not be left unattended in the apt. unless we discuss it first. If you have a "hyper vigilant dog" that will incessantly bark every time I go near adjoining laundry room or garage, they are not welcome. Nor or pets that chew or go on floors. Thanks for understanding.

I have 2 friendly basset hounds which of course will not be in guest area. Its possible there could be a slight doggy odor when you first enter house, before proceeding down to Apt. You may also just hear them bark a little when I come home and feeding time. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have before booking!

Full Apt with private Bath. Laundry room and yard are shared with me, but I give guests priority.

It is a separate apartment. We share same front door, I go up and guests go down half a flight of stairs to apartment which locks separately. Im the only one that lives upstairs and there are no other rental units on the property.

Perfect to get out of the heat from the south or the hustle and bustle of city life during the summer to visit friends and family and have a home away from home on Long Island. Easy access to beaches and trips to the Hampton’s. Located on the second floor with a separate entrance from the floor below. Near Northport & Huntington. Walk to train station. My wife and I live on the 1st floor. Biweekly cleaning services. N No pets, No smoking. For 1 or 2 people. Off street parking.

The space
Rooms are very spacious. Hardwood floor. Independent air conditioning and heating. Plenty of closet space. All new high-end appliances. Cutlery, pots, pans, coffee mugs, glasses, kitchen towels, etc. supplied. Coffee and Espresso station.
There are extra pillows and blankets. Bath floors are heated and has an amazing soaker tub. Walk to train station and restaurants in Greenlawn Village. 60-70 min to NYC! Space is quiet. Outside property and backyard are NOT included in the rental.

Guest access
Access is through a keypad to the front door and then another keypad at your entrance at the top of the steps.

No Pets, No smoking, No use of back yard. Designated parking spot on driveway. Please message any special request and we will try to accommodate.

Our Happy Place is perfect for families with young children, including an outdoor swing set, tennis court, basketball court, trampoline and indoor playroom with monkey bars. The pool is covered in the colder months and is fenced in. * Pool is open from June- September
