- "Beautiful atmosphere. " - "Went for a quick family trip at the end of basketball season to try and squeeze in a ski/board trip. Elk River made check in super easy and even made it possible for us to check in early. The cabin had everything we needed for our trip and Ellie Mays restaurant was awesome. For those that like sweet tea, there’s was on another level. The grounds itself had a lot to offer and my daughter and I did some exploring 2 of the days we were there."

Walking path to a peaceful and secluded swimming area (there are 2 swimming areas to accommodate 2 cabins on property.) There are fire pits at the cabin and by the river so you can build a fire and roast smores with your crew. Swim, fish, kayak, raft, hike or just relax on the front deck or by the fire and watch the wildlife.

Sleeps up to 12, master has king bed with baby crib, sleeping nook has twin bunk beds, 2nd bedroom has queen bed and two twin beds, 3rd bedroom has queen bed and daybed with trundle.

The kitchen has all the appliances and utensils you would have in the comfort of your home. Coffee maker, blender, food processer, crock pot, steamer pot, toaster, electric can opener, dishwasher, gas range, microwave, refrigerator freezer with ice maker, etc.

- "The cabin was amazing, had great amenities, and had access to classic creek swimming. Host was very accommodating and answered all of our questions very quickly. Driveway caused our car to bottom out twice, would recommend not taking cars with less than normal ground clearance, only reason the stay was not perfect was the driveway, which was only a minor negative to an other-wise perfect cabin get away!" - "Paradise cabin at Paradise in the Woods definitely fits the name. We truly felt like we were in paradise! From the amazing views, the sound of the flowing river, and the abundance of wildlife, you will not be disappointed. The house was extremely clean, and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking, and I loved that the oven was a gas stove/oven. We did briefly lose power during our stay due to a storm, but Cheryl (the owner) immediately showed up with a generator for us to use until the power came back on. We would definitely stay here again. If it’s available, don’t think twice. Just book it!"

We actually left late Saturday night because it was starting to get dark and cold. Please be aware that the cabin driveway is long and steep going up to the cabin and will require AWD or FWD in Winter months. AWD/FWD recommended but not necessary in off Winter months.

Cabin is pet friendly allowing 1 dog under 50lbs. Pet fee is required at booking. Please check the $99 pet fee when paying for your booking please. All renters are responsible for cleaning up after your pet inside and outside. COES COUNTRY STORE - approximately 15 minutes from the cabin near the WV Wildlife Center. Coe's has an open kitchen with WONDERFUL food! Food can be to go or dine in! They also have beer, mixed drinks, pop, milk, bread, ice, candy, energy drinks, and cigarettes/tobacco.

Village Hardware - approximately 20-25 minutes from the cabin. Village hardware has a small selection of hardware supplies, ice, GAS, alcohol and tobacco. Make a right onto route 20 past the WV Wildlife Center. There is a Dollar General just before you get to Village Hardware!

Buckhannon - 22 miles/34 minutes. Area includes Walmart, Kroger, multiple gas stations, restaurants, movie theatre, Walk-in clinics, St. Joseph's Hospital.

Rock Cave - 12 miles/20 minutes. IGA grocery store, Harper Lumber hardware store, Tri-County clinic, and Tri County pharmacy.

The train tracks are active but the train does not have a regular schedule, it may run twice in one week and not again for a month. If it goes by once, you are likely to see it twice, it is a coal train, the cars go up empty and come back down loaded.

- "It was amazing and peaceful! We enjoyed the family quality time as well as time by the river, fishing, some hiking and cruising around the roads. The cabin is very clean and cozy!" - "The house is very nice, the area is beautiful and very private and relaxing. We came with extended family (6 adults, 3 children) and had plenty of room for everyone. As everyone has mentioned, the stairs can be challenging, but are not unmanageable. Some in our party preferred to walk the driveway up and down. The fire pit is great. I recommend ordering the wood. It was there, stacked, covered, and ready for us when we arrived. Cheryl is a great host, very helpful, and responded quickly to messages. The beach area is a short walk, but worth it. I would recommend life vests for littles as the water is deep and swift in some areas. However there are other areas that are calm and more shallow. Plenty of areas to fish as well. All in all, we had a wonderful time. There was something for everyone to do, if they wanted to do more than just relax in the peaceul surroundings. If I were to make any suggestions, I would say maybe a few extra towels for showering or cleaning up spills and a new set of tupperware as some was cracked or missing lids, but we really did not have any complaints at all. We had an amazing 7 nights. We would definitely go again."

Our renovated ranch-style home features 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and an open living/dining area that includes a propane fireplace and pull-out sofa-bed, Roku TV, landline phone, WIFI, city water, spacious kitchen, washer/dryer, window air conditioning, ceiling fans, and baseboard heating. The master bedroom contains a king size bed, TV and bathroom. Bedroom 2 contains a queen size bed and bedroom 3 has both a full and twin size bed. There is a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room. We also have a twin mattress that can be used for an additional sleeping spot, allowing 10 to sleep comfortably. There is ample outdoor space for fun and relaxing in the fresh air, including a wrap-around deck, covered patio with table and grills for dining outside, an extensive front and back grassy yard, a fire pit for evenings filled with tall tales around the campfire, a small bubbling stream, and private forested path for hiking in the woods.

With our central location in the heart of some of West Virginia's most beautiful mountains, forests, and rivers, you can enjoy outdoor activities year-round. The Gauley River flows in front of the house which is great for fishing, swimming, or floating down on lazy summer afternoons. We are also close to many other rivers such as the Elk, Back Fork of Elk, Holly, Williams, and Cranberry Rivers along with many trout streams and Big Ditch Lake.

Our semi-secluded home is perfect for viewing the area's stunning fall foliage, taking in peaceful winter scenery, and enjoying the beautiful springtime mountain blooms. We are within a few minutes of the Monongahela National Forest, Camp Caesar, Baptist Camp, Cowen, and Webster Springs, WV. Many people also enjoy hiking and biking in the area. If you love snow skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing, check-out Snow Shoe and Silver Creek Ski Resorts within an hour's drive of the property. Also within an hour's drive are golf courses at Snow Shoe Ski Resort and Cherry Hill Country Club, plus Summersville and Sutton Lakes, the New River Gorge National Park and the Boy Scout Summit Bechtel Family Scout Reserve. We are ten minutes from Big Ditch Lake, great for fishing, walking, kayaking and paddle board. The Lover's Lane Boardwalk in Webster Springs along the backfork of the Elk River is a great walk with beautiful views.

There are storage containers, strainer, tea pitcher, large soup bowls, lots of coffee mugs!, pots and pans, sheet pans for the oven, etc. The kitchen will also have Pam spray, sugar, flour, salt, pepper, and an assortment of spices available.

Please be aware that the cabin driveway is long. The driveway splits half way and you will proceed straight to access this cabin. The uphill driveway is our Mountain View Cabin.

Cabin is pet friendly allowing 1 dog under 50lbs. Pet fee is required at booking. Please check the $99 pet fee when paying for your booking please. We are willing to entertain the idea of a second dog. Please message when booking or prior to.

Village Hardware - approximately 20-25 minutes from the cabin. Village hardware has a small selection of hardware supplies, ice, GAS, alcohol and tobacco. Make a right onto route 20 past the WV Wildlife Center. There is a Dollar General just before you get to Village Hardware!

Buckhannon - 22 miles/34 minutes. Secluded, Sandstone was constructed on the quarry location of the farm property, where the old-timers split the mountain’s sandstone rocks to make the foundation stones of their cellar and house. Their excavation holes are visible from the cabin and some ‘scrap’ cuts of stone lay on the hillside still. We thought that was so cool, so we carved out a place for Sandstone too. This peaceful piece of WV heaven will comfortably accommodate up to 4 memory-making guests and up to 2 furry friends with one $95 pet fee!

Open floor concept with combined kitchen/living room spaces, private bedroom and private bathroom, loft bedroom above them. Both the bedroom and loft have Queen size beds. Split unit AC/ heat, gas fireplace in living room area. Smart TV is a Roku TV. WiFi. All pine walls, interior and exterior. Shower and bathroom are cooly tiled. It is everything you need with a nice, clean bathhouse just down the hill. The staff were extremely nice and the host goes above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay. Our digital nomad cabin has good wifi, a full bed, half bath, with workstation and is right on the river directly looking out over the fishing lake. Relax with heat/air conditioning a tv screen and coffee pot. A huge deck can accommodate tents for friends. Down the street is a small grocery, and world class WV diner. We have a really nice bath house for showers. This place is one of the most beautiful spots in West Virginia, and close to all the regions major attractions. Shopping in Webster Springs is just a short drive, and we have a peaceful environment just to relax. We are surrounded by rivers and there are several good swimming holes at camp, along with a 1 mile hiking trail up the mountain. This place is perfect for single or double travelers looking to get away.

About this space
#3 Cabin Frances is our family style bunkhouse. It has a queen sleeping loft and two bunkbeds giving it that summer camp feel. A relaxed space for kids of all ages to sit up talking and playing cards. The space boasts a half bath, and sitting room to overlook the river out back. This cabin has fans and space heaters to keep you comfortable. Francis can accommodate up to six guests with its bunk beds and loft. Want to bring a bed roll or cot and add a guest you are welcome to do so.

Guest access
Please feel free to drive up to cabin #3 closest to the RV sites and lake. We are often around the property, but it isn't necessary to find someone to check in. They keys are on the table, and parking is to the left of the property.
Other things to note
Please bring linens and towels. There is a beautiful bath house just a short walk across the grass.

- "Owner and family was super nice and friendly. Cabin backed up to a stream. So even though it rained off and on during my stay, I could open the back door and enjoy the serenity of the stream. The stream also was nice to listen to as I fell asleep each night! The price was super reasonable as well."
