This suite is located about 10 minutes from Snowshoe and Ski areas. 40 minutes from Elkins and about 1 hour from Canaan Valley resort, and 45 minutes from Black water falls. We are about 20 minutes from Cass railroad and so much more! This beautiful and cozy suite will fit 6 guest comfortably! - "The cabin was perfect for our family. It is well stocked and equipped with everything you would need to enjoy your stay. The beds were comfy, the couches not so new that you feared using them, and outside furniture was perfect for a pleasant evening among the stars. The seclusion and trails to explore were huge bonuses. The only downside is we needed more time. We came for the Forest Festival, but enjoyed the cabin time just as much. We would have loved to have used the kitchen for more than coffee and quick breakfasts! We explored the trails, hung out at the pond, watched the wildlife, and caught up with each other. What a great place to stay. We hope to return! "

The directions to the place are spot on. The cabin itself is off the beaten path, very warm, cozy and inviting. It has everything you need for your stay. The Wi-Fi is fantastic and we were able to be in touch with the outside world on our own terms. The travel to and from the adjacent town is beautiful - lots of deer! When we arrived we had good weather and took advantage of it. We checked out the surrounding area including dinner at The Forks (show up hungry as this is an excellent restaurant), a day trip to Thomas and Davis including lunch at Hellbender’s Burritos and a hike in the Blackwater Falls State Park to see the waterfall. We had the good luck of a huge snowstorm later that night, and enjoyed watching it from the giant picture window. The next morning Max, our host, came by to check on us and to make sure we had a snow shovel in case we needed it to get out. In the morning we hiked the Steepside Trail (adjacent to our cabin) to the top, then made our way into town to Mi Fiesta for fajitas and margaritas. We took a different route home to pass through Seneca Rock. It was a very zen weekend!"

The kitchen was equipped for cooking and storing anything we brought. Many times things you take for granted having at home you need to bring or buy—but things like spices and flour were available. This was nice. Additionally the bathrooms were fully stocked and linens with a laundry were awesome to have. The entertainment areas are wonderful too. From the indoor games, movies, and books—to the outdoor hot tub, firepit, deck and patios. The drive up the hill is a quick 20 min so we had no issue getting up and down multiple times a day to enjoy skiing and boarding. Overall we had a wonderful stay. Hope to come again!"

There is covered front porch with provided gas grill for cooking needs. Back porch overlooking mountain stream with calming flowing water. Three bedrooms with two bathrooms. Two queens, one full, one bunk and two couches available. All beds have pillow top mattresses. Washes and dryer available for use with laundry soap provided. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, and utensils. Come enjoy wild and wonderful West Virginia. This property offers something for everyone. Great location for hiking, fishing, skiing, riding, and exploring nearby attractions.

Built in 1900, this beautifully restored 4-bedroom 3 bath Victorian sleeps between 10 and 16. Original hardwood floors and trim throughout. Full kitchen, dining room, laundry room, and a living room with wood burning stove. Located in the quaint historic railroad town of Durbin, still offering scenic rail excursions.
This house is your base camp for hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, skiing, rail attractions and overall activities in West Virginia. Within walking distance to both the Allegheny Trailhead, and the West Fork Rail Trail for walking, hiking and biking. Fishing at Spruce Knob Lake, Buffalo Lake, Greenbrier River (plus the East Fork and West Fork), Little River, and Shavers Fork, to name a few. Within walking distance of the Durbin Railroad for the Durbin Rocket. Additionally, Base Camp-WV is within 45 miles (or less) to Seneca Rocks, Spruce Knob, Green Bank, Cass, and Snowshoe. Finally, if you don’t want to go anywhere, and stay-in for a day, this house has a comfortable wrap around porch for sitting and a large yard for kids to play.
Base Camp WV - Durbin is fully furnished, as listed in the Amenities. All beds are queen size. If the weather is undesirable, there are books and games as well as a wood burning stove for cozy cold evenings.
There is not a grocery store in the immediate vicinity. Please bring food with you. There is a refrigerator and freezer . There is also an area for coffee (an assortment of coffee is provided). Pots, pans, service ware etc. all for up to 12 guests.

The house is vacant between stays. It is cleaned after a guest vacancy, and if it has been sitting for a long period, it is cleaned again. This house may have new insects due to both the vacancy and being in the country.
While Base Camp WV - Durbin is a good place for children, please note this is for older children. The house is not child proof. There is not a crib (but there is a playpen), or outlet plugs, or safety gates. If you choose to bring younger children please exercise caution with supervision.
Guests are welcome to the entire property. There is off street parking.

This is a small town with nice people. It is very quiet at night, one of the many charms. The train runs a few times a day during the summer. Staying here puts you within walking distance of the trail into the Mon National Forest and fishing in the West Fork of the Greenbrier.
Durbin is 12 miles from Greenbank, 29 miles from Snowshoe, and 48 miles from Elkins.
This is a rural neighborhood. Please be respectful by being a good neighbor; Which includes keeping noise down in the night hours and maintaining a clean area. Thank you.

Star View is one of a few scattered, cabins in an exclusive enclave. Guests have access to the 10,000 acre adventure of Kumbrabow State Forestwith miles of hiking trails, sightseeing & native trout streams.
Winter access is 4X4 only.
Star View has a large family/living room, kitchen, dining area & half-bath on the main floor. Both bedrooms and the full bath are on the 2nd floor. The is a large wrap around deck on the main-level and each bedroom opens to the rear 2nd floor deck for great morning views. Guest will have access to the entire house except for an owners closet on the main floor.
Star View is an almost inholding in Kumbrabow State Forest. There are a few other cabins in this gated enclave. The area is great for hiking, biking, fishing, hunting or just relaxing in the remote solitude. Parking is easy for 2 vehicles. The area is remote and most trips will be by car.
It is important to note;
1. The high altitude of Star View means snow is likely from the 1st of December to the end of March. Early November storms or late April storms can also bring snow. You should plan to bring a 4-wheel drive vehicle during these months.During the rest of the year the gravel roads of Kumbrabow as well as the driveway are not friendly to low-clearance vehicles.
2. Star View is powered by 1400 watts of solar panels with battery storage. It provides plenty of power to perform every day chores like showering, washing dishes, watching an hour or two of television. It does have to be managed or the batteries will be drained.
