This home is both centrally located and peacefully private in the Village of Rio Grande, Ohio. Tucked away in the beautiful hills of Southeastern Ohio, the Hideaway House is located less then 1/2 mile from both The University of Rio Grande and Bob Evans Farm.

The Hideaway House is perfectly sized for up to 8 guests! With an open main area, guests can visit together either and then retire to one of the 4 bedrooms in peace.

Guests will have access to the entire home except for the unfinished basement.

“Our little house on the corner” was built in 1954. We totally remodeled it this spring for short term renting. The upstairs is now a master suite and two bedrooms are on the first floor. You will not be disappointed with the style and decor. Everything is new but the hardwood refinished floors. If you are traveling through Gallia County for a wedding, reunion, party or just vacationing you will enjoy our home. No other persons will share the home with you. Bob Evans Farm Restaurant, Merry Family Winery, GreenValley Gathering Place are all just minutes away. Downtown Gallipolis is just a quick drive too.

The daily rate is for two adults and each additional adult is 25.00 per night. There is no charge for children under 16. There is a small one time cleaning fee of 35.00 for the downstairs and an additional 20.00 if upstairs is used also. This too is a one time charge.

The space
This cozy, rustic, cedar-walled single-room cabin directly overlooks the Ohio River. The bathroom has a shower, sink, and toilet. Outside there is direct access to the beach & water, as well as a large open grassy & landscaped space overlooking the river, with a fire pit, swing set, and flagstone areas with covered tables. The property also borders a deep creek, with lots of trees. The cabins & yard are mostly separated from the road by the restaurant (no longer open to the public with the exception of serving the B&B cabins). Two parking spaces available per cabin (please reach out ahead of time should you want more spaces). Locally-sourced coffee provided in the cabin. The room is heated/cooled primarily with a mini split unit.
Guest access
Guests can access the river, beach, and large yard at their leisure. There is also a landing spot for boats about four miles south (KH Butler) and a cute little town about a 10-minute drive north. Free onsite parking lot is available. We live in a very rural area, so there are a variety of dwellings and lots of patches of woods around.
Other things to note
We offer a contact-free, COVID-friendly checkin. Very kid friendly. Very pet friendly. Smoking & vaping permitted on cabin deck and outside public areas, but not in cabins please. We ask that breakfast orders be placed by 9pm the night before. Our breakfasts are homemade and we provide locally-sourced coffee in the cabin. Smart TV in cabin. Free Wi-Fi.

This charming 4 bedroom home is conveniently located, a mere 100 yards, from the University of Rio Grande campus. It is walking distance to plays, sporting events and graduation. This is also a wonderful, centrally located, home base for motorcyclists touring the area.

Come enjoy “The Eagle’s Nest.” Fully exclusive and breathtaking! There are 33 private acres to explore with this private newly constructed home. Everything is brand new and in excellent condition. We’ve recently added a pond that will soon breed fish for fishing. Enjoy the quiet evenings overlooking the West Virginia Mountain View while roasting marshmallows over a fire inside our preserved 100 year old open barn. You can also take in the fresh air on the 10x30 two tier deck patio built for gathering with your favorite drink and favorite people.
We realize many like to travel with their 4-legged family members so with that said, we accept well-behaved pets. We only ask that they remain on the floor while Inside. We also strongly suggest a crate or carrier while you’re out to prevent any nervous pet accidents.
As a side note: There is a resident feline named Spooky who lives on the property. He’s very friendly and welcomes love and food (under the kitchen cabinets).
For an additional fee, Our retreat also includes access to two all-terrain vehicle‘s, a golf cart AND a UTV to make getting around more exciting and accessible. They are available for a daily or weekly rental. All use of the ATVs is at your own risk and will require a valid drivers license and liability waiver that must be printed and brought along upon check in. -**some gas will be provided but you may need to purchase fuel during your stay.

Please note: Safety is of upmost importance to us therefore, we have external cameras on the property that are capable of recording sound and motion.

This 2 bedroom cottage offers an excellent place to unplug and relax on the Ohio river here in Kanauga/ Gallopolis Ohio area.
There are festivals and events during the whole year like the Point Pleasant river regatta and the Bob Evans farm festival the Mothman fest and many other festivals in the area.
This cottage offers a front row seat for the fireworks over the river 4th of July and Labor Day weekend.

While the rural and serene setting of this site feels secluded, will be only five minutes from the bustling city of point Pleasant or Henderson,West Virginia. The region is also home to numerous smaller towns and Amish communities for visitors to discover. The nearest major city is Athens, Ohio, which can be reached in just under one hour by car.

The light switch at the top of the stairs will turn on the hall light and there are touch lights on the stairs for extra lighting you can turn on as well.

Located near two wedding venues, a winery, Bob Evans, and Holzer Hospital it is the perfect location. Located near US Rt 35 also makes it easy access for travelers. - "Creekside was just as advertised. My family, with kids (13, 5, 4), stayed for 5 nights in early January. The location was perfect- off the beaten path, but not too far from town. The kitchen is equipped with everything you would need to not need to venture out during your stay. I loved the view of Raccoon Creek from the main windows and deck. Even in the cold, my kids were big fans of the tire swing behind the house. The house was beautifully decorated for winter. Everything was put together with the guests in mind. The only thing I would note, not as a negative but as a FYI for future renters, we use Verizon for cell service and there was zero service in or around the house, but the WiFi was strong the entire stay so it wasn’t an issue for us. Check-out procedure was easier than I have ever had at another rental. All information for house, local area, and check-out was neatly organized in a binder that was easy to spot in the kitchen at check-in. We would 100% recommend to others and stay again ourselves!"
