Directly next door to the house is Lakeside Bar & Grille. On Friday and Saturday evenings (summer only) they typically have live music outside- which ends between 10:30 and 11 pm. It is a fun and lively atmosphere, but please take this into consideration when booking if you have children or anyone in your group that will be disrupted by noise. It is not terribly loud within the house, but you can hear it.
Also within walking distance is the Happiest Paddler- a locally owned kayak and paddle board rental shop. If sand and swimming are more your vibe, Sears Park is just a 5 minute walk down the street. They have public restrooms, a picnic area, and a playground for the kiddos.
Parking- The driveway can fit up to 3 vehicles. There is no off street parking.

There was a restaurant right next to us, which had some music and people chatting, however this did not bother us at all. We also equipped and stocked it with family-friendly goodies like WiFi, Netflix, Keurig coffee machine (+ pods), outdoor-safe tumblers for cool drinks by the lake, Igloo coolers, charcoal and gas grills, even a jogging stroller (please request at booking)!
** Our home is an allergen-reduced environment, which means:
Regular air filter maintenance
Allergen-reducing protectors on all mattresses, box springs and pillows. (These also protect against bed bugs and dust mites.)
All linens are laundered in hypoallergenic, environmentally friendly, non-toxic soap (Charlie’s).

:: Second Floor Bathroom :: Stall shower and clawfoot bathtub. Starter supply of soap, shampoo, facial tissue and toilet paper provided. Accessed directly from master suite, but shared with Maidenhair Fern.

LOCATION
From downtown East Hampton, you can hike or bike the scenic Air Line Trail State Park. Plan a date night with dinner at the Gelston House, followed by a show at the historic Goodspeed Opera House on the CT River. Dine, shop and try your luck at Mohegan Sun Casino. End a day of antiquing at The Shops at Marlborough Barn with some comfort food from Sadler's Ordinary. Nearby Belltown Hill Orchards is the place to pick seasonal produce like apples, blueberries, cherries, and peaches.

We’re within 35 miles of Bradley International airport, Glastonbury (11 mi.), Hartford (20 mi.), and Middleton (9 mi.).

Located at the street level, there is a garage apartment where the caretaker of the property resides. The caretaker does not access the home, driveway or lakeside yard during guests stays. Please note our trash service pickup is early morning Wednesday as is our landscape service. You will see the caretaker removing and returning trash and recycle cans from the garage parking area to the street and back. The lawn service requires all outside furniture and watercraft to be put away as found at check in so they can mow on Wednesday mornings. Both trash pick up and lawn service days are subject to change without notice.

We use variable rates so that we don’t exclude smaller groups. If I set just one flat rate, it would likely be too expensive for a couple or a small family—and a total steal for a group of 8! So the rate increases along with the number of guests.

The beautiful sunsets and fishing off the dock or our boat as it got dark were indeed highlights for all. Patrick responded immediately when a couple of things or questions came up. This beautiful, large home is a perfect vacation home for full waterfront enjoyment!"

85 feet of lake front with dock. Spacious modern house with huge well equipped kitchen - everything from baking pans to 24 assorted herbs and spices. There is a 24 inch Amazon Fire TV in the kitchen. On the main level you will find the kitchen and living room, each with a sliding door opening onto the upper deck; master bedroom and bath suite with a door opening directly out onto the upper deck; as well as a second bedroom with a queen bed and another full bathroom. On the lower level is another large living room with 2 sleeper sofas, a bedroom with one twin bed and one double bed, and a full bathroom. The 55 inch Samsung TV is in the lower level living room. Also on the lower lever is the washer and dryer (laundry detergent provided). From the sliding doors on the lower level, you will exit onto the lower patio level with an outdoor eating area protected from the rain. The garage has been converted into a game room with a pool table and a ping pong table. Don't worry, there is still plenty of off road parking in the driveway in front of the garage and a secondary parking area at the side of the property. There is a Level 2 Electric Vehicle charging station in the garage, available for your use.

(Dock, water slide, swimming, kayaks, rowboat, canoe, and stand up paddle boards are available during the appropriate seasons only. The game room is unheated. )

Guests will have access to the entire house, except for one or two small locked supply closets. We love our area in every season of the year. Fall brings beautiful leaves and great hiking and mountain biking, or ride the Airline Trail. Winter is a peaceful quiet time here, with hiking, skating, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing. Spring means beautiful flowers, pleasant temperatures, more hiking and biking, and a return to boating. And I guess we don't need to tell you how beautiful summer is, and how much there is to do here. Year round, just over a mile away on the other side of the lake, is a nice gym called Team Fitness. We have made arrangements with them to provide discounted access to our guests for $10 per person for up to a week.

We're eager to hear from our guests, both about anything they may need and any ideas they have for improving the property. We may be able to help you with anything from finding babysitting to suggestions for activities to finding a mountain biking guide.

We are in the middle of a quiet friendly neighborhood. Spellman Point Road is a dead end road, so there is not a lot of traffic. Just a 3 minute walk down Bay Road is a Middlesex Land Trust park with trails for walking and mountain biking. Five minute drive to either Stop & Shop or Big Y for grocery shopping. Eight minute drive to the large playground at Memorial School. Lots of cute shops along downtown Main Street. 6 minute drive to the Air Line Trail, a great bike or walking rail trail.

We are right on Lake Pocotopaug, a beautiful body of water, providing boating and swimming opportunities. Across the lake from us is a town beach with a playground, and it is open to the public (although only residents can park there). We have a rowboat, kayaks and paddleboards for use by our guests, and a slide out on the water which kids will enjoy. On occasion the owners may also use the kayaks, paddle boards, rowboat or slide.

Plenty of free parking. Approximately 1 mile walk to Middletown Area Transit bus stop.

The owners of the house live in the adjacent property. We are always available by messaging for any questions or problems, and usually can come over in person if necessary.
If interested, check with your hosts about local baby-sitters, all kinds of biking expeditions, windsurfing and other local activities.

Pets (cats and dogs) are allowed: maximum of 2 pets. Notify owner in advance of stay so that we can prepare for your arrival and put out dog beds, feeding bowls, etc. We may put protective covers on some sofas and beds when pets are visiting.

Some amenities are only available in specific seasons, for example waterfront amenities are available throughout the summer.

Only toilet paper in the toilets! NO "flushable wipes", paper towels, feminine products, etc. Ignoring this rule could cause you to lose days of your vacation, as the house is unusable if the sewer grinder pump fails.

We have never seen any dangerous animal in the yard. However, within a half mile of the property bobcats, foxes, and raccoons have been seen, and a black bear was reported within 2 miles of the property. Like everywhere in CT there are various insects and also ticks that could carry Lyme disease.

Everything you need is available on the entry level, with the exception of the laundry room. Within the house, there is a staircase from the entry level to the lower level. A child safety gate is installed at the top of these stairs. From the deck to the patio, there is a spiral staircase.

We found it easiest to walk to the beaches downhill then have one adult walk back to the house to get the car so we didn’t have to try and carry the kids and all the stuff back uphill. If you want to take in the local area, just 5 minutes’ drive away is the Hurd State Park, which is great for hiking, or you can head up to the Airline Trail for a scenic bike ride. Enjoy the excellent restaurants of South Glastonbury and Middletown within a 10 to 15 minute drive, or visit some of the area's fantastic antique shops.

Even though this is a country retreat, Whole Foods can deliver within 2 hours of placing your order; there is also a Stop and Shop, wine and liquor store, cozy local tavern and a pizzeria all within 7 minutes’ drive from the property.

Laurel Island is a perfect location to hold a retreat, reunion or family group that combines the privacy and peacefulness of an island and facilities for groups both large and small. Accommodations include 5 private cottages and a large main Lodge for gathering. Local catering is available for group meals and will provide meals adaptable to different diets. However you can take care of your own meals in the large Lodge kitchen and the 5 kitchens in the cabins.

The 5 acre island's canopy trees, blueberry bushes, rocky outcrops and large grassy field provide numerous spaces for activities and events. A huge covered deck overlooking the lake provides protection regardless of the weather, and is attached to the Lodge for easy access. All of these spaces lend well for yoga, meditation, nature, wellness and other types of retreats, reunions or family groups.

There are 5 guesthouses on the Island, A-frame, Bay House, Chalet, Deck House and Captain Cabin-which sit on the lakeshore of the Island, all within an easy stroll yet distinctly private from one another. Each cabin has a living room, a kitchen area and 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms. Each cabin has a refrigerator, a stove, a kitchen sink and plates and utensils. Also each cabin has its own dock and at least one water front deck to enjoy the view. There are plenty of windows. Each guesthouse has water, electricity and other facilities.

We provide the facility which includes kitchens, stoves, refrigerators, pots and pans in each guest house. You take care of all other arrangements i.e. food, bedding etc. However if you rent the entire Island we provide sheets and towels in addition.

If you have a boat this is ideal, you can use the dock at your cabin for your boat. Rowboats are available. The recreational opportunities of a lake are available: canoeing, kayaking, swimming, standup boards and more. On the Island are volleyball, badminton, bocce, croquet, horseshoes and other land sports.

When the entire Island is rented there is a caretaker on the Island to help with the facilities. The Island is supplied with electricity by an off the grid solar system with a back up generator when nightime use exceeds the storage. The water in the Lodge and cabins is pumped from a well on the Island.

We have a home on the shore near the Island. You park your car at our home and we take you to the Island on our pontoon boat with all your luggage.

This is our home and we expect our guests to treat it with respect and not to harm it in any way. We do allow pets but expect them to be well behaved and cleaned up after.

Reusable grocery bags, umbrellas, ice scraper, portable cooler, and day trip supplies like folding chairs, sunglasses, sunscreen and a back pack are provided.

Holiday meals: Hand mixer, Ninja Blender, electric carving knife, serving platters, gravy boat, large serving bowls, salad bowls and Tupperware storage containers, service for 16+.

Past guests have enjoyed hosting holiday meals here because everyone pitches in. This isn’t your kitchen, it’s everyone’s kitchen during your stay. So all family and friends can assist with meal prep and cleanup!

This lakefront house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen, dining and living rooms with spectacular views of the lake, and a wonderful library/den complete with great books, a bar, and a wood-burning stove. There are tile and hardwood floors throughout. There is access to the lake from either of two docks on the property. Kayaks, a canoe, and a paddle board are available for your use, along with basic fishing gear. An outdoor patio and a firepit overlook the lake. There are gas and charcoal grills just outside the kitchen on the small back patio.

The house is located close to East Hampton's popular restaurants and shops. The charming village center is about 3 miles away. Hartford and Middletown are each about 20 minutes away. Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos can be reached in about 45 minutes. Connecticut shoreline beaches are about 40 minutes away. New York and Boston are each about 2 1/4 hours away.

The space
This newly renovated 3 bed/2 bath home is perfect for your stay on the lake. Designed with the discerning traveler in mind, you will enjoy all the comforts of a “home away from home.” Panoramic views of the lake can be enjoyed both in, and out, of the home!

Three spacious bedrooms all with ample closet space so you can truly unpack and relax during your stay. The Captain’s Quarters (king suite) is even better than the photos. Featuring a private full bathroom and oversized walk-in closet.

Open concept kitchen and living room provide the perfect space to entertain, or unwind as a group. Previous guests have noted how well-appointed the kitchen is, featuring all of the cooking essentials.

The spacious yard is partially fenced, perfect for lawn games, playing outside with the kids, or catching some sun. Guests are welcome to cozy up around the fire pit and open a good book on the hammock (summer months).

Directly next door to the house is Lakeside Bar & Grille. On Friday and Saturday evenings (July-Sept ONLY) they typically have live music outside- which ends between 10:30 and 11 pm. It is a fun and lively atmosphere, residents from the surrounding area come to drink and dance and celebrate those cool summer nights. Please take this into consideration when booking if you have young children or anyone in your group that is sensitive to noise. It is not loud within the house, but you can hear it when the windows are open.

Also within walking distance is the Happiest Paddler- a locally owned kayak and paddle board rental shop. If sun and swimming are more your vibe, Sears Park is just a 5 minute walk down the street. They have public restrooms, a picnic area, and a playground for the kiddos. Perfect for parents with youngsters that don’t want to deal with loading up the car, and bringing home a bucket of sand.

If indulging in libations is more your style, Arrigoni Winery is a 10 minute drive down the road. They offer wine, ciders, and boozy slushies, as well as snacks to share. Family friendly, with plenty of room for large groups. They also offer live music during the summer.

Parking-
The driveway can fit up to 3 vehicles. There is no off street parking. Please contact the host if you have any special parking requirements or questions.

Guests will have access to the entire home, driveway, and yard. Across the street is a picnic table bellied up to the water- feel free to take a seat or grab some take out and take in the beautiful view. Guests are welcome to use the docks across the street owned by Lakeside (NOT labeled “private property).

Other things to note
Only guests that are included in the reservation are permitted to be in the home. Please do not host events or have parties.

There is a $500 penalty for bringing an unauthorized pet into the house.

There is a dock for public use directly across the street, owned by Lakeside Restaurant. You are welcome to use that dock. Please do not use the dock with a sign labeled “private property.”

The public beach (Sears Park) is a 3 minute walk from the house. It is for residents only, so you will not be permitted to park a vehicle in the park.

For safety reasons, please only one person on the hammock at a time. Please be respectful of furniture and belongings in the home. Guests will be responsible for any damaged property.

Please let us know in advance if you will be bringing a pet during your stay, and include it in the reservation. We kindly ask that you crate your pet if you plan to leave them alone in the home.

Our 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house is 100 years old but has been fully renovated in the past 3 years. We are right on Lake Pocotopaug, with 80 feet of lake front. Lake Pocotopaug is a natural lake, 500 acres and perfect for swimming, kayaking, paddle-boarding, water skiing and tubing. While motor boats are allowed, the lake is safe for swimmers of all ages and access from our property is easy, with a small shallow beach area.
The house is 4 season, with central heating, a wood-buring stove, and air conditioning, and beautiful at all times of the year. The fall foliage of Connecticut is stunning at the lake and surrounding countryside, and in the winter the lake can freeze enough to allow ice skating and ice sailboats. We are also close to Wesleyan University in Middletown, to Hartford CT, roughly equidistant to New York and Boston, with the Connecticut River and the beaches of Old Lyme and Old Saybrook within 20-30 minutes drive.
Outside, we have a coal BBQ, a firepit, a dock that extends into the lake, and inflatable swimming platform ('the Whoosh') and an outside shower. You are able to rent kayaks, boats and slides from the Happy Paddler which is very close to the house.
The house is at the end of a quiet residential lane.
The house itself is a combination hardwood floors and slate downstairs, and fully carpeted upstairs. We supply linens and towels, and some basic cooking essentials, such as herbs, spices, etc.

The space
85 feet of lake front with dock. Spacious modern house with huge well equipped kitchen - everything from baking pans to 24 assorted herbs and spices. There is a 24 inch Amazon Fire TV in the kitchen. On the main level you will find the kitchen and living room, each with a sliding door opening onto the upper deck; master bedroom and bath suite with a door opening directly out onto the upper deck; as well as a second bedroom with a queen bed and another full bathroom. On the lower level is another large living room with 2 sleeper sofas, a bedroom with one twin bed and one double bed, and a full bathroom. The 55 inch Samsung TV is in the lower level living room. Also on the lower lever is the washer and dryer. From the sliding doors on the lower level, you will exit onto the lower patio level with an outdoor eating area protected from the rain. The garage has been converted into a game room with a pool table and a ping pong table. Don’t worry, there is still plenty of off road parking in the driveway in front of the garage and a secondary parking area at the side of the property. There is a Level 2 Electric Vehicle charging station in the garage, available for your use.

Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire house. Some of the waterfront amenities and the game room are shared with the owners, but guests get first dibs on the games and water sports.

Other things to note
The owners of the house live in the adjacent property. We are always available by messaging for any questions or problems, and usually can come over in person if necessary.

If interested, check with your hosts about local baby-sitters, all kinds of biking expeditions, windsurfing and other local activities.
