- "Jabari was a very accommodating host and easy to reach out to if there were any issues. When it comes to the living space, it's very spacious and clean. There is a lot to like about the place: Sharp knives and good cookware, fast internet (enough for me and two friends to work from home with no issues), and washer/dryer in unit! In my experience going to anything on the west side or down town is very convenient, as the place is very close to A, B, C and D lines and you can take the 1 line if you walk a little bit further. If you want to do anything in mid-town east or upper east side then the commute gets to about an hour. Only 2 real "issues" from my point of view: 1. The washer/dryer wrinkles up khaki pants/shorts quite a bit. (not that big of an issue as there's laundromats within 2 mins walk) 2. The Projector in the main living area doesn't have the best quality (but if you're in New York you should probably go see the city anyway) Overall a great place to stay with no real problems that you can't easily work around."

We do rent our 4x4 beautiful Jeep through Turo and can offer parking for an additional fee in our driveway if you are interested. Please ask us for availability and details once we are connected.

HOUSE RULES

1. Trash must be discarded every day in the grey waste bin outside garage. Recycling must be disposed of in the blue box.
2. Shoes must be taken off at entrance to avoid any damage to wood floors.
3. No wet mopping on wood floors.
4. The vent fan must be always on high speed while cooking.
5. The washing machine should not be filled more than half when running a load.
6. No windows should be left open while the heat or cold air is running.
7. Landlord may ask for access to unit for mechanical room or other storage area access.
8. When leaving please dispose of all trash and all bedsheets and towels must be put in washing machine.
10. No parties or events.
11. No unregistered guests. Every unregistered guest will be $60 extra per night.
12. No pets.
13. Dirty Dishes must be washed immediately.
14. All food waste should be bagged and disposed of immediately.
15. Dishes must me rinsed thoroughly before putting in dishwasher.
16. No food waste or oil should be flushed down sink or toilet.
17. No feminine hygiene products should be flushed down toilets or sinks.
18. No smoking anywhere in the unit.
19. Check in at 4:00 pm, Check out 11:00 am.

- "Everything was perfect! Wonderful!" - "Relaxing week" - "First glance optimistic. Amit and Mrs Amit lovley people. Did work at solving issues. On arrival they were surprised. We booked for a longer stay. They had forgotten. For medical reasons wanted a functioning fridge with basics of a kitchen. Chose apartment because 25 min from hospital. Read well. Bought 800 worth of food. No functioning fridge a problem Having surgery next morning at 5 am. Upheavel disturbing. We were supposed to be resting.. The hardwood floor. was lovley. Accustomed to taking our shoes off. The apartment was cold. I did not want to keep shoes on. Saw slippers. Asked Amit if they had been worn by others. He said yes. They looked worn. Definitely unhealthy. How can you expect people to wear worn slippers by others They might have fungus. Put socks on. Going back into kitchen found the. cuttlery was a hodge podge. We bought supplies. Mrs Amit brought down some empty glass jars to use for storage. A little fridge arrived. 3 days later repairman fixed the main fridge. There were no chairs with a proper back to them. Maybe the norm is for guests to stay for 1 or 2 days or younger people. We brought the tiny table with no back chairs into the spacious living area. The bedding was a hodge podge of left over bedding and towels. They helped us but they were oblivious to the hodge podge. Finally outside entrance a treed patiio with high chairs and table. Chairs had holes. No where to sit. Response patio not iincluded. Did bring small bench."

MY COVID19 TESTING RESULTS AS OF JULY 2020 - Negative, no antibodies.
COVID PANDEMIC UPDATE - June 8, 2020:
After much thought and careful consideration, I have decided that Harlem Comfort II will not be accepting any reservations this year. Testing procedures have not been standardized to my satisfaction. I still do not know my own health status and, even though I have not felt unwell, for all I know, I could be an asymptomatic carrier of the virus. There is no vaccine available as of yet. Under these circumstances, the decision to shut down for the year was the only one I could feel comfortable making.
I am going to use this time off to determine my own health status and discuss appropriate self-care protocols with my doctor. I will also be reviewing and adjusting the cleaning and hygiene practices currently in place at HCII so that ANYBODY who enters this building - myself included - may do so without worrying about jeopardizing their health.
HCII wishes good health and longevity to all of our past and future guests. I will reach out early next year with another update. STAY SAFE!

Carolann gave us a quick tour of everything, made sure we had numbers to contact her and then made her departure. I had a question the next day and she responded within minutes! NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW / TIPS for RESTAURANTS and STORES
Harlem is very vivid with new many restaurants of all cuisines , jazz clubs, trendy coffees and pubs, Whole-food, and the 125th commercial corridor with all the big chains . Some specific recommendations:
1) For Groceries: There is a small shop on the corner of 134th and 7th ave ( just cross the street and go to the corner) and they are open 24/7 for the immediate essentials including milk and juice. For more serious shopping - there is a new Wholefood on 125th and 6th, but there are other supermarkets ( less fancy but good) close to the house (132/8th, and 130/6th). Before WholeFood opened I use to go to Best Market for the best sushi you can ask for ( 8th ave between 118 and 119) . it is a walk but it worth it if you like sushi.
2) for Resturants- My favorite is on the other side of 7th Ave (between 134 and 133) -Yatenga. Go two blocks south , on the corner of 132 you will find Renaissance which is open also for breakfast . I also like The Edge Cafe on 139th and Edgcombe ave. Treat yourself one day to Red Rooster, corner Social, Barawine ( all on Lenox between 126th and 120). There are also good restaurants on 8th ave ( from 117 to 127)
3) Many Jazz places around. The closest one is Bill’s Place, on 148 W 133rd st. Twov minutes walk. Bill and company play jazz in the basement on Friday's and Saturday's eves . Go online and book a 20 $ ticket and come early as the seats are not marked..

GETTING AROUND
Very convenient. You can take 6 Subway lines and 3 busses:
5 minutes walk to 135th/st Nicolas you can find
the B and C lines that go along Central Park
West till Columbus Circle and then They split.
B continues along 6th Ave, and
C continues along 8th Ave

- "After reading reviews about the area I was a little worried being a single female staying here. I need not have worried at all. I didn’t feel unsafe and I would regularly use the subway late at night too (like getting back at 2-3am). I do want to point out that I would always use the C train (A train late at night) because the 2/3 train did feel a bit sketchy even during the day. Going from the apartment towards St Nicholas was fine, but going the opposite direction towards Lenox - that area seems a little seedier. I never felt unsafe walking around in the day but wouldn’t go that direction at night. The apartment itself was roomy. I was there during winter and it was cold out but always warm inside. The little kitchen was great. The bathroom is big enough but there were a few drainage issues near the end of the stay (used Drano to help fix it). At one point, a fuse blew during my stay and I had no power in the big room, but it was sorted out quickly by the host which I appreciated. There are plenty of place to eat and get supplies within a few blocks of the apartment too. For the price I would definitely recommend staying here. I enjoyed my stay and would like to come back some time."

- "The apartment was clean, suited with the appropriate basic kitchen and linen items you would need to get along day to day. The way the apartment is fitted, there's tons of room for your stuff. The A/C, heat, water pressure in the shower are all fantastic. There are 2 large closets to hang clothes. The building overall is safe. There is a childcare center on the 2nd floor that is mostly under control. This apartment is on the first floor with 5 stairs to reach the apartment. The terrain of the area is made up of hills. The street is on a hill and the adjacent avenue is on a hill. There is anything you could need within a few blocks but right across is a Dollar store that really offers everything and an amazing hair salon along with laundry service. The neighborhood can get loud but there's fans within the apartment that drowns out all that or turn on one of the huge fantastic televisions in the place. Mr. Lambert is a fantastic host and always available for questions and to help out with any apartment problems.Truly a gem. "
