There are NO concerns about the well water as it is certified against E-coli bacteria and tested for nitrates, and uses a UV light system to ensure clean water whether drinking a glass from the tap or with the kids using the hose in the yard. If privacy and quiet surroundings are what you are seeking after coming home from a long day of sight-seeing...this is for YOU! No neighbors watching you as you sit on the porch or the kids play in the yard.

Please Note: We do not accept reservations with large numbers of adults, usually not more than 6-8. But please ask, and we will see what we can do. We have had situations where some stayed in the house, and other family members brought an RV. We have no issues with such arrangements.

This 2000+ sq. ft. home is nestled in South-Central Pennsylvania, in Northern York County. The house has three bedrooms, each with a queen bed and bunk beds providing enough space to sleep 12 or more very comfortably. This location is ideal for up to three families with children. It can sleep up to 12-14 using the roll out cots. There is ample room for RV parking. And enough lovely yard and trees to make camping a possibility for the family to enjoy. So having a bonfire weenie roast can be part of your weekend plans. While the house has most modern conveniences, the farm setting adds to the overall experience, especially for the kids. The nearly one thousand square feet of covered porch wraps around three sides of the house, making relaxing and enjoying the outdoors possible even with inclement weather.

The house borders a township park with a walking trail, soccer fields, baseball fields, playground, pavilions, and much more. The property is located on the far side of the park allowing a peaceful setting, yet just a very short walk to the park itself. There is a full-size bar-b-q pit for grilling ribs for the whole crew, and a smaller fire pit for roasting marshmallows with the kids. Everything from horseshoes to corn-hole is available. This is truly a property that allows the kids to have fun.

The property itself is part of a working farm, even though the house is newer and separate from the other buildings. Sitting on the porch in the evening, depending upon the time of the year, you may see deer close by, bats flying out at dusk from the barn, and other items offered by mother nature, including a working apiary. If you find teaching the kids a bit of nature as important, this property has it all. And we encourage the kids to pick from the garden as the season allows. While the farm is still active, nobody actually lives on the property, and almost all activities stop while we have guests, to ensure your privacy and allow you to relax and enjoy your stay with us.

The house has everything from a new full-load washer/dryer, to all the kitchen appliances you may need. A stove, full fridge, microwave, pots/pans, and other items are available to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Sleeping Arrangements:

Bedroom #1 (sleeps 4) - The first floor has a master bedroom with queen bed and bunk beds. There is a private bathroom with a walk-in shower.

Bedroom #2 (sleeps 5) and Bedroom #3 (sleeps 4) are on the second floor, each with a queen bed and bunk beds, There is a central bathroom with shower/toilet/sink.

There are also roll-out beds allowing extra sleeping in the bedrooms or the ample common areas. This allows sleeping arrangements for at least 14 guests.

A third bathroom is located on the first floor with a walk-in shower. All hot water is supplied by a on-demand propane system, ensuring enough hot water for all the guests.

There is a NO smoking policy in effect for all buildings on the property. However this is a farm in the country. Outdoor smoking is permitted with proper disposal.

There is a "No Party" policy. The line between family and friends enjoying themselves, and full blown keg parties is NOT a fine line to be crossed.

There is a NO pet policy, but will entertain special requests. All requests will be approved PRIOR to any deviation from the stated policies. Any policies deviated without prior consent will cause loss of any security deposits.

There is NO cleaning fee. However, you are expected to leave the property in the same condition as you found it upon arrival. Dishes and the kitchen area are to be cleaned. Linens and towels are not your responsibility. Excessive cleaning due to ignorance or neglect will be deducted from the security/damage deposit. We want to allow guests the opportunity to keep fees low, and clean up after themselves.

Please contact us regarding planned events, beyond the normal vacation rental. Special arrangements and pricing available for larger groups. There is a full size bank bank with loft for outdoor group outings. This property is perfect for putting up some tents and having a picnic bar-b-q for all the family to enjoy.

We don't live on the property. And while we will be available to assist you in your stay, we are not going to "drop-by" every day to water the plants, and find excuses to check on you. We have done extensive traveling, and have seen overbearing home owners. We also have stayed places and never seen anyone during our stay. We want you to be relaxed, and enjoy your stay. If you don't need us, or have reason to call every day, that is fine with us. And if you do, that is fine also. But we leave that up to you.

There is a "blink" security system on the property. House entrances and property entrances are covered. There are NO cameras inside the house. Once you arrive and check-in, you can disconnect the security system by unplugging the sync card. This deactivates all cameras. We are not in the "guest monitoring" business. Again, there are NO cameras inside the house.

About this space
Charming A-frame cabin nestled in Michaux State Forest. Enjoy the sounds of Mountain Creek from the comfort of the deck or relax on the bench by the water's edge. The cabin offers comfortable accommodations with 3 queen beds and a full bathroom. For those seeking adventure, the cabin is close to the 1/2 way point of the Appalachian Trail. Several lakes are within a few miles of the cabin for swimming and fishing. When you return, unwind around the fire pit and take in the peaceful surroundings.

The first floor has a large great room with a propane fireplace, two-story windows, a large dining table with seating for 8 (plus folding chairs in the closet), a well-stocked kitchen, and a kitchen island with three barstools. There is also a laundry room, a full bathroom with tub, and two bedrooms - one with a queen bed and one with two full (double) beds.

The second floor has a small loft area with a desk overlooking the great room and front yard, a large comfortable chair, and a futon with available sheets and pillows. The loft opens into a large bedroom with a king bed, comfortable chair, small desk, and a full bathroom. There is a twin rollaway bed in the closet and an additional twin mattress available for extra sleepers in the bedroom or loft.

There is a 4th bedroom in the basement with a queen bed and an individual heater.

The walkout basement has a ping pong table and lots of seating, including a queen sofa bed with sheets, blankets, and pillows available.

The TV in the basement has a DVD player and a Chromecast device. We do not provide cable or streaming services, but you'll be able to watch shows via your own cable and streaming services through our Chromecast device from Cast-enabled apps on mobile devices or from the Chrome internet browser on your computer. (Chromecast instructions are provided. Contact us with any questions.)

Outside there is a large flat yard, a fire pit under the trees and a 15’x23’above-ground pool and attached deck. The house has a wrap-around deck on three sides, partially screened in. The front deck is great for star-gazing!

Guests have the entire private apartment with designated Vrbo parking, which also includes use of one indoor garage parking bay.

The exterior amenities on the property belong to the separate house on the property. These areas are off limit to Vrbo guests. The areas that are off limits are the pool and patio area attached to the main house on the property, and the front and back porches attached to the main house. We kindly ask that all guests are respectful of these off limit areas.

HOUSE RULES:

- Please load and start the dishwasher with any used/dirty dishes.

- All trash is to be bagged and tied at the end of your stay.

- Used towels and washcloths are to be placed in the laundry basket on top of the washing machine.

- Noise should be kept to a minimum after 10pm.

- Please do not rearrange any of our furniture.

- Candles are not to be burned, they are for decor purposes only.

- There shall not be smoking of any kind inside the home. Extra cleaning fees to remove odor and stains may be applied.

- Towels and washcloths are not to be used with any makeup, face washes, self-tanner, hair dye, or any other staining products.

- Do not flush any trash, paper towels, flushable wipes, baby wipes, feminine products, condoms, diapers, tissues, cigarette butts, pills, cotton balls, q-tips, or anything that is not toilet paper down the toilet.

- Do not rinse any food or grease down the kitchen sink drain. Please be mindful of what is placed in the garbage disposal.

- PARKING: There is one designated guest parking space, in front of, and/or inside the far right garage bay which is conveniently located closest to the apartment entrance. If additional parking spaces are needed, please contact the host prior to your arrival.

- PLEASE NOTE: Children friendly DOES NOT MEAN the area is CHILD-PROOF. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to monitor their children's actions AT ALL TIMES.

- Please acknowledge that occasionally, we may leave consumables such as condiments or snacks left behind by previous guests if they are not empty. We try our very best to ensure that it is not expired or stale. However, ultimately it is up to the guests' discretion and inspection to consume these items if they wish. The host does not take any responsibility for the consumables.

- There is an extra guest fee of $35/person after the fourth guest. (Maximum of 6 guests total).

- If guests are found to have had a party which results in extra cleaning, guests will be responsible for an extra cleaning charge of $300. The extra guest fee above also applies.

Peaceful 3 bedroom house nestled in the corner of a quiet little town just 8 miles north of beautiful Gettysburg! Located on 2.5 acres, you and your guests can enjoy the woods feeling while still being close enough to explore all of the wonderful areas of Adams County. From historic Gettysburg, to Ski Liberty resort, to the endless picture perfect apple orchards of the area, you won't be disappointed with visiting! 3 bedrooms, 5 beds plus a futon, hot tub, grill, and an enclosed dog fence!

This home was built in the 1980's for a single elderly couple. That means that all the essentials are on the first floor, the doorways are all wide, and the master bathroom has a step in, easy access shower. Upstairs are 2 more bedrooms with a full bath in the hallway. All bedrooms have TVs and all linens are changed for every guest. The back yard has a big deck with a hot tub, table, grill, and we are currently redoing the fire pit area. There is a very large fenced in area just for dogs connected to the deck so there shouldn't be a need to take them out on a leash! I've grown up in this area my whole life and I have lived here with my family for the past 7 years. Please treat it as if it was yours and have an amazing time! Welcome to Stuart Manor, a mid-1800's Brick Italianate Home constructed by John Stuart, an early Cumberland County Judge. The home was fully restored 2016-2019. This home features 5 guest rooms, each with a private bath, high speed wi-fi, daily breakfast and well appointed, luxurious rooms.
Guests are welcome to use the private pool, patios and fire pit as well as enjoy the beautiful interior. A few original details include walnut stair case, ornate crown moldings, five fireplaces.

Gettysburg National Battlefield 25 minute drive
For nature lovers and horse folks alike, there are walking and/or bridle trails adjacent to the farm. I can offer trailrides for one rider. $50 for 90 minutes.
If you are interested in bringing your horse, paddocks are available for guest horses for an additional fee and you can ride onto state land directly from our farm. Or maybe you would like to arrange to ride your horses on the Gettysburg battlefield! if you would like to go for a guided trail ride on two of my horses we can see about arranging that. Or maybe an introduction to horses and an informal riding lesson. Weather and other conditions may not allow this adventure but be sure to ask if interested as you book your stay. A wonderful time to be had either way!
For skiers, if you are interested in downhill Ski Liberty Mountain Resort is roughly 30-40 minutes away. However, when we have decent snow, cross-country folks can step outside and ski around the farm. No groomed trails.

Other things to note
I give guided trail rides off the farm for two guest riders $50 for 1 1/2 hr ride/horse.

Bring your horses to ride the trails adjacent to our farm or the Gettysburg Battlefield. Turn-outs available for $25/ night.

Dogs are welcome but must avoid horse pastures. We have a 1 acre fenced field for a monitored dog run. Dogs should be leashed around the cottage area. Dogs off furniture.

Lovely cabin surrounded by Michaux State Forest with beautiful views through the large windows in the warm, spacious great room. Situated atop a mountain ridge near two state parks, with the Appalachian Trail and 40 miles of ATV trails both less than a mile away. Screened in porch, fire pit, pool, huge finished walkout basement, and large master suite. Come see why our family loves this place so much!

The space
The first floor has a large great room with a propane fireplace, two-story windows, a large dining table with seating for 8 (plus folding chairs in the closet), a well-stocked kitchen, and a kitchen island with three barstools. There is also a laundry room, a full bathroom with tub, and two bedrooms - one with a queen bed and one with two full (double) beds.

The second floor has a small loft area with a desk overlooking the great room and front yard, a large comfortable chair, and a futon with available sheets and pillows. The loft opens into a large bedroom with a king bed, wing chair, small desk, and a full bathroom. There is a twin rollaway bed in the closet and an additional twin mattress available for extra sleepers in the bedroom or loft.

There is a 4th bedroom in the basement with a queen bed and an individual heater.

The large walkout area of the basement has a ping pong table and lots of seating, including two queen sofa beds with sheets, blankets, and pillows available for each.

The TV in the basement has a DVD player and a Chromecast device. We do not provide cable or streaming services, but you'll be able to watch shows via your own cable and streaming services through our Chromecast device from Cast-enabled apps on mobile devices or from the Chrome internet browser on your computer. (Chromecast instructions are provided. Contact us with any questions.)

Outside there is a large flat yard, a fire pit under the trees and a small above-ground pool and attached deck. The house has a wrap-around deck on three sides, partially screened in with a gas grill for your use. The front deck is great for star-gazing!

High speed Wi-Fi will support all your streaming and internet needs!

Other things to note
Deer Run Lodge is a great place for low-key gatherings of family and friends, but is not suitable for noisy party-like groups due to nearby neighbors.

Winter guests: The cabin is at the end of 0.3 mile gravel road at about 2000 feet elevation. In the late fall and winter months, 4-wheel-drive is needed to access the home in winter weather, which is more common atop the ridge.

Summer guests: Our pool is generally open from late May to mid-September. If you're planning to use the pool during your visit, please let us know and we'll make sure it's ready for you.
