- "The house is beautiful! It fit our big family so well. The kitchen is well stocked! The view from the wrap around deck is wonderful. The yard is on a hill, so no very flat spaces for young kids to play, but beach combing was the activity of choice anyway. It was perfect to walk right down to the beach several times daily. We all really enjoyed our family time together. Thank you!" - "We had a family group for a wedding and thoroughly enjoyed the property! What a great time of year to enjoy the area as well."

True Pacific Northwest, Island-living at its finest. This beautifully maintained 3 Bdrm home is located on 150' of sandy, no-bank beach on Puget Sound. Often referred to as the best beach on Bainbridge Island, the property boasts a sunrise to sunset western exposure for maximizing the many opportunities for outdoor activities: beachcombing and sandcastle construction, splashing in waves or swimming, picnicking on the green lawns, walking on miles of beach, and more. Wildlife viewing is a fine sport here: blue herons perch on their spindly legs early in early morning and late in the day; sea otters and bald eagles are not uncommon, either. Tall Douglas Fir border the back of the deep lot while azaleas and rhododendrons flourish throughout the property.
On the first (ground) floor, the kitchen with its informal dining area and adjoining family room, the master bedroom, and small den with gas fireplace all share a view of Puget Sound. On the right evening, the moon shines from low on the horizon down Agate Pass, creating a bright swath of light across the kitchen. The family room has a television and a classic stone fireplace. Firewood is provided. The master bedroom boasts a king-sized bed, television and a seating area well-suited to enjoying both the sea-view and your morning coffee. Its adjoining bathroom has a roomy tub, separate shower, and a spacious walk-in closet. The remaining rooms on this level include a formal dining room, living room, mud room with washer-dryer and a powder room.
Outside, a two-sided covered deck provides a lovely vantage point from which to enjoy an evening libation while watching a flurry of activity on the waterfront as boaters make their way to port.
The upstairs enjoys the same views but with the higher perspective, it's all the more spectacular. The two bedroom both have two twin-size beds. You'll find plenty of room to accomodate a roll-away bed, futon or the like, which can be readily provided with sufficient notice. The bedrooms share a bathroom with shower/tub and access to the rec room and its 51' screen t.v.
This home is located about 6 miles north of the city of Winslow. Daily, frequent service on the Washington State Ferry System runs between Winslow and downtown Seattle. Winslow has a small-town atmosphere yet all the basic needs can be found here, including a fine selection of groceries, assorted retail and notable restaurants. There is a public 9 hole golf course on the Island and tennis courts. Additionally, wiithin an hour's drive off-island there are a half-dozen first class, 18 hole golf courses. At least one private club on Bainbridge Island accepts short term memberships for those who care to use their tennis and exercise facilities.
Bainbridge is also blessed with several fine parks including the popular 'Grand Forest' for scenic walks. 'The Bloedel Reserve' is a private estate with beautifully maintained gardens that are open to public viewing.
At the north end of Bainbridge runs the Agate Pass Bridge, connecting the island to Suquamish and Poulsbo, a popular destination by land and by sea which has perpetuated its Scandinavian heritage. Further beyond, Port Angeles is located at the entrance to the Olympic Peninsula. The National Park is a 2 1/2 hour drive from the rental property. Lovely Victoria, British Columbia is an hour away by ferry.

We felt very much at home, thank you! Add to that the incredible view of Puget Sound and the telescope to use in watching for sea life. We just can’t say enough. - "Great setting - great house" - "Fabulous location right on the water. Great small town with good restaurants and stores. Only a 30 minute ferry ride to Seattle - so easy. Just need better parking instructions and some board games in the house. Oh yeah, put the house/island info papers in a binder. Thanks for a great stay! Our family enjoyed it!" - "This house had amazing views of Rolling Bay from almost every room, and the deck is the perfect place to relax while enjoying the fabulous view! The house had everything we needed for a perfect stay. We love to cook, and we really enjoyed the kitchen that had all we needed to make delicious meals using locally sourced ingredients. Bainbridge island stores and the Farmer's market provided those ingredients. We read through books about Brainbridge that were provided by the owners and went on some of the fabulous hikes suggested in one book. What a great experience! We also really enjoyed walking along the beach and sidewalks at Rolling Bay, listening to the ocean sounds, enjoying the breeze and the views. The master suite was superb with lots of space, the Ove commode and great walk-in shower in the bathroom, views that make you feel you are surrounded by ocean, and a bed so comfy you sleep like a baby. Navigating down the narrow driveway was a bit daunting at first, but my husband made it work. We definitely would enjoy a return visit to this relaxing and beautiful place!"

The house was incredibly clean and well taken care of. The furniture and beds were surprisingly so comfortable. The kitchen was so fun to cook in with everything we needed to eat in and the views were like nothing we could have imagined. We spent an entire day just sitting in the front living room and on the deck taking in the gorgeous views and Comforts of the home. I have never enjoyed a VRBO experience quite as much. But the best part was how much the owner cares about her tenants having a wonderful stay We would definitely stay again and couldn't recommend this property enough! "

- "Property was clean, hosts were gracious, beautiful sunsets. What more could we ask for? We really enjoyed how accessible this spot was with only one step to get in, and a level living/sleeping area. We had a nice quiet night after watching a beautiful sunset. 100% returning!" - "This is a beautiful property. It was a wonderful, relaxing, quiet end of the day after running around Seattle. The view is gorgeous as is the interior of the unit. I actually thought it was much nicer than the pictures show. There is a train track that runs just below the property, but we could barely hear it when we were inside. We enjoyed the fireplaces, both inside and out. We would stay here again and again!"

- "We planned on two days but could only stay one, unfortunately. This is not your ordinary “basement” apartment. Open, spacious, quality, lots of daylight. 5 or so minutes from downtown but hidden in a quiet area. If we’re in the area again, we’d definitely come back. Communication before, during, and after was great." - "We are a family of 4 with 2 kids under 3yo. Emily and Sam's place was above and beyond it's description. They have literally thought of every item you could possibly forget when traveling. Approaching the rental, you definitely feel "out there" on a narrow dirt road, but soon you trust your Nav and find their place nestled into the surrounding landscape. Very remote, will need to drive everywhere - which we didn't mind. The place was extremely clean, well lit, AC worked great! My daughter enjoyed the kids toys / games - fantastic addition! We definitely got our money's worth here and were very happy with our stay."

One of the most unique properties on Bainbridge Island. This rustic log cabin is the perfect writer’s retreat or family adventure! It was originally built in the 1930’s and barged to its current location in October 1962 in the middle of Seattle’s only hurricane! Located on the west side of Bainbridge Island just feet from the beach, it has an incredible stone fireplace, fully appointed kitchen, and new washer/dryer. The Cabin sleeps 8 with a primary bedroom and ensuite, an alcove bedroom with a queen bed and a separate loft that sleeps 4 with two twins and a double bed. It also has a second bathroom. Its expansive wraparound deck lets you enjoy fantastic views of the Olympics and Port Orchard Bay. Watch eagles and Osprey soar above, deer nibbling in the gardens or see the occasional seals, sea lions or otters frolicking in the water.
Ready to take a walk on the beach? You can head right towards Battle Point or left towards Fletcher Bay. If the tide is out head down to “The Big Rock” and see amazing sea life living on it. Weather permitting, paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, or your favorite floating devices can be launched from the private ramp. Bundle up and break out the smores to gather around the private outdoor beachside firepit. Sadly, clam digging is no longer allowed due to biotoxins affecting butter and varnish clams.
Ready to explore Bainbridge Island? This truly special place is centrally located on the Island. Battle Point Park is a mile away (pickleball courts, soccer fields, playgrounds, and a running trail), The Grand Forest with its magnificent hiking trails a mile and a half. Bloedel Reserve is spectacular and a short 17-minute drive. Head Downtown, a quick 15-minute drive, to peruse the wonderful shops and an array of great restaurants on Winslow Way. There are 5 terrific wineries on the Island less than 6 miles away. and distilleries and breweries less than 5 miles. We’re just a 35-minute ferry ride from Seattle or 30-minute ride from Edmonds. If you choose, you can drive around, from SeaTac it’s about 80 miles, about an hour and a half. Come take advantage of Island living at its best!

- "Amazing property and host. John was great and very responsive. Super cool waterfront cabin with beach access, a shoreline water pit and ramp for kayaks, etc. Great access to the village too. We will definitely be back and recommend this to our friends. Super memories." - "What a cozy winter stay for us! We loved building fires, playing on the shore, and games inside! The hikes close by were great too!" - "Our stay at The Cabin was just great! The weather allowed the three kids in our party to play outside for hours and hours—they loved the lawn when the tide was high and the beach when the tide was low. Everyone was charmed by the log cabin interior and the stairs to the third bedroom were fun for us. The kitchen and bathrooms were nice and we appreciated the seating options since there were seven of us. I’m not sure when we’ll have the opportunity to go back but would consider The Cabin again!"

- "This quaint home with the Puget Sound lapping at its private garden is the perfect place to get away from it all. The views from the dining room, living room and one of the bedrooms is so spectacular, with Seattle sparking in the distance and the glowing homes of Murden Cove reflecting on the water. The fireplace, the center of the house, works well and makes the house so cozy. It was hard to have to leave. Chad, the manager, was so thoughtful and helpful, and oh my, the handmade sourdough loaf waiting for me on the counter. Too good!"

“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.” -J.R.R. Tolkien
Hand-built by local artisans, this warm and cozy in-hill cabin located in the lower area of our property is something right out of a Tolkien novel. Beautiful territorial views. Very LGBTQ+ and BIPOC friendly. Hope you enjoy our Shire!
The space
This one room Hobbit Hole has everything in it's 7.5x15.5' (cozy): Comfy convertible bed/couch complete with sheets, comforter, and extra blanket... a small table with 2 chairs for playing games and eating, puzzles, games, snacks, hot water kettle, coffee maker, bluetooth speaker, electric fireplace (warm and cozy) , books, sketchpad with colored pencils, and more! A rustic wooden floor (with some paint splatters) and a braided rug give you a feeling of comfort and home.
On site we have a private portable bathroom complete with hand-washing station, and an outside combination fire pit and charcoal barbecue with a grill top and s’mores sticks provided so you can cook over a wood fire or coals! (during burn ban season we provide a props e Bbq to use) And an outdoor table and chairs that are super comfortable!
The house itself is heated, insulated, and has working electricity/outlets for computer or phone charger. Clean bedding and pillows provided, washed in fragrance-free detergent between each guest. We provide a full water jug with spigot, hot water kettle, teapot, assorted teas, an empty growler to use, 2 pint glasses and 2 mugs. Private area of the yard with plenty of room to relax. We have a disc golf goal and discs to use as well.
Firewood is available for purchase onsite for $10/milk crate full. This comes with a kindling kit.
Territorial views of the tree line and sunset views to die for! We are located near Meigs Park as well as a 10-minute walk from Manitou beach and an easy bike ride to the ferry that goes to Seattle! 2 miles from the Grand Forest and 3 miles from Battle Point park. We are exactly 3 miles from the ferry terminal in a convenient mid-island location.
NEED TO KNOW (managing expectations):
A note on the bathroom: the hobbit hole is small and will not fit a bathroom or plumbing and we are not allowed to add to our septic system. Your nearby private portable restroom (about 150 feet away) is cleaned thoroughly between each guest and serviced (pumped out) weekly. We consider our listing to be “glamping”. We don't have shower facilities but there is a local aquatic center where you can shower and use the pool.
Also our property borders a local 2 lane highway and you can expect road noise mostly during the day and evening. While you will be in a very private setting you can expect to hear the road. Weekends and evenings it is quieter, and when the door is closed it is quiet inside.
There is no cooking inside the Hobbit House however we have a combination fire pit and charcoal BBQ that you can use to cook on. Bring your own dishes.
We are on Insta hobbithouse98110 and there are videos of the space to give you a solid look at what is in the space.
On you tube we have a nice video giving a tour of the property and the hobbit hole. Look for "Hobbit House Bainbridge Island".
The Hobbit House is strictly limited to 2 guests or 2 adults and a small child that can share the bed. The bed is a queen size, and we can't allow sleeping on the floor as the door opens inwards and is a safety concern. However, additional guests are welcome to bring a tent and camp outside, for $20/tent, up to 6 additional guests or 2 tents, whichever is smaller. Let me know when you are booking that you'd like to bring additional guests and we will adjust the costs accordingly.
We are in a rural area and garden/landscape organically. You may encounter wildlife on your adventure with us, our island has a diverse diaspora of creatures that roam. Outside of the Hobbit hole on our 3 acres you may see/hear large and small birds, voles, field mice, bunnies, garter snakes, spiders, coyotes, raccoons, owls, bats, chipmunks, and squirrels. We also have 2 resident black bears on the island that we have NEVER seen on our property.
We look forward to hosting you!
Guest access
Your own private parking space is about 50 yards from the hobbit house. We have wheelbarrows available to use to for your belongings. Portable potty with hand washing station about 50 yards from the hobbit house.
Other things to note
-This is an unusual listing, please read the description thoroughly!
-Additional tent camping available for guests.
-Cooler provided, arrange for Ice if desired.
-We have wheelbarrows for bringing down your belongings.
-We do not have WIFI as the Hobbit House is built into the ground. We've found cell phones work just fine here.

This home has a full kitchen that'll satisfy experienced cooks (instant pot, immersion blender, juicer, countertop convection oven — everything but dishwasher). Dine indoors or on the patio under the overhang. One guest chose to sleep outdoors under the stars!
Surrounded by meadows and large trees, Fort Travis is adjacent to a main arterial road off the island, making it super convenient but not a silent oasis in the middle of nowhere (there is road noise, which I liken to a babbling brook). A number of points of water access/view are walkable within 20 minutes.
A dog lives at Fort Travis but you might never know -- between the air filter and roomba. (Guests may bring their dog if housebroken).

Island life comes with a few hitches …
While you will have your own network for your stay, the satellite internet provided may experience lagging once the sun sets in the horizon.
In seasons of moderate rainfall, you may hear our sump pump turn on from time to time. In periods of heavy rainfall, the pump may go off regularly. The volume of the pump draining the reservoir is not louder than a quiet "whirring", and can be mitigated by shutting the quarter bath/laundry room door. The pump itself is housed underneath of the house, and is not affixed to your apartment.

Spend lazy days on the deck as boats, seals, and herons pass by, or watch a film by the light of the wood-burning stove. Flowers, ferns, and a sparkling Tiffany lampshade add to the fresh vintage charm of this tranquil retreat with a pretty garden.
The cottage features great western views of the mountains and water with spectacular sunsets, passing boats and wildlife watching. We see lots of birds including eagles, Great Blue Herons, kingfishers and hummingbirds as well as seals and otters who often play in the waters out front. Large windows and high ceilings create a light filled space that is both cozy and inviting.
You will love staying here because of the great view and the cozy space. We just recently added a television with Amazon Fire so you can also just cozy up by the fire and watch a movie or a game!

Other things to note
Before booking, please consider this this property is in the rainforest on a island. The cabin has a dedicated hotspot for the cabin only, however, we get storms on the Island and I have personally had no internet for over a 24 hour period, along with my neighbors and much of if not all of the Island. It's a problem, one that stems from Island living but as hosts, I have done everything in my power to provide you the best internet service the Island has to offer and 99.9 percent of the time, we have no issues but if there's a big strom or some other outage issue, the island becomes a dead zone. Please also realize we're in a rainforest. I have personally seen the following on my property - There are spiders, bobcats, deer, racoons, vols, mink, feral pigs, leaves, falling tress, howing coyotes, the occasional wondering dog from an neighbor, and occasional bear in the rainforest. I can't control the natural elements of the rainforest, so please, if any of the above annoy you to the point where you'll leave me a negative review and jeopardize my ability to host, please pick a property downtown or in the city.
However, if you like the forest, you'll love the property.

Welcome to this quintessential Northwest wonderland. Unwind among giant firs and cedars and experience absolute quiet. Stroll down the forest path to your private beach or watch glorious sunsets over the Olympics from your Adirondack deck. Immerse yourself in native wildlife from pileated woodpeckers to sea lions. Walk to the park for a game of pickleball or sit around a campfire. Fully stocked kitchen, beautiful handmade tile and a cozy gas fireplace. Only 15 minutes to the bridge or downtown.
The space
Downstairs, you'll find a well-stocked full kitchen, a dining area with a cozy gas fireplace, and a large laundry room.
Upstairs, there's a living room with a queen sofabed, a large television, and a dedicated work space. Across the hall is a large bedroom with a queen bed and a bonus room with a twin bed. The bathroom has a tub, shower, openable window, skylight, and a heated floor!
All rooms with beds have light-blocking shades on the windows and skylights.
This property, a Certified Wildlife Habitat, is perfect for people who want to escape the noise and busyness of the outside world and immerse themselves in the beauty and serenity of the forest and the shore.
You'll have access to over an acre of the property. The BarnHouse sits at the top of the hill in a mature evergreen forest where you'll often see Pileated Woodpeckers, Flickers, Bald Eagles, and lots of songbirds. The private fire circle is steps out the door and the friendly horse and mule live in the corral next to the BarnHouse.
As you walk down your path toward the water (look for the 10+ fairy/elf houses!), the forest will thin and you'll emerge into a garden surrounded on three sides by water or wetland (depending on the tide). You can relax by the lagoon or cross the shallow water (boots provided) to the beach. You can take long (or very long, depending on the tide) walks along the beach where crabs, oysters, mussels, clams, and masses of sand dollars live.
You will rarely see another person on the beach, but you'll likely see all manner of watercraft and seaplanes. Depending on the season, you might spot River Otters, Harbor Seals, Sea Lions, Great Blue Herons, Belted Kingfishers, Osprey, several types of shorebirds, and, if you're lucky, a family of Orcas.
You will often find us out and about, gardening, feeding or working with the equines, doing barn chores, or enjoying a beautiful sunset. We'll give you your privacy or stop for a chat, whichever you'd prefer.
Welcome!
Guest access
You'll have access to over an acre of the property. The private host spaces are clearly marked.
Other things to note
We hope you walk the 250 steps down the forest path to the water. For your safety, please stay on the path. The entire forest path is lighted with motion lights, but if you'll be venturing out after dark, please take a headlamp or flashlight (you'll find two of each near the front door). It's dark in the forest!
The footing on the path is uneven (deer use it too!), so if you'd like a bit of extra stability, please use the walking poles you'll find in the laundry room.
Obviously, lots of different critters live in the forest, including bees and yellow jackets. The risk of getting stung is low (if you stay on the path), but if someone in your group is allergic, please come prepared.
You can enjoy the waterfront from your Adirondack deck or use the provided boots to cross the narrow lagoon to the beach (unless there's an occasional very high tide!).
Our horse and mule live in a large paddock on the property next to the BarnHouse. Although they are friendly, please do not reach out to touch them. If you're interested in interacting with them, just let us know and we'll try to arrange a visit!

Welcome to your home away from home! Our charming, newly renovated farmhouse is near Battle Point Park and perfect for families or getaways with friends. The house features everything you need for a comfortable stay. Outside, a fire pit, furnished patio, and large yard await you.
City of Bainbridge Island Short-Term Rental Certificate #P-000136
The space
Our two-story home features four bedrooms and two and a half baths, a fully stocked kitchen, pantry, comfortable living area with wood burning stove, linen closet, nursery, play place, mud area, large dining space, and laundry room.
In addition to the kitchen, living room, dining area, half bathroom, and mud room, downstairs is home to a lovely bedroom with a queen-sized bed complete with an en suite full bathroom. Find upstairs a large bedroom with a king-sized bed and attached linen closet. Also on this floor is a full sized bath, a loft with three single beds (no door but fairly private) and play area, a separate room with a crib (no door but fairly private), and a laundry room.
Outside, enjoy a furnished patio, fire pit, grill, and large yard -- nearly two acres! -- that is perfect for playing sports as a family or hosting small get togethers. The garden, small orchard, and blackberries lining the property are fun to explore in the warmer months. Year round, you may see deer nibbling on greens or a neighboring flock of chickens free ranging.
Nearby Battle Point Park offers something for everyone, including multiple walking and biking paths, pickle ball, frisbee golf, two playgrounds, a pond, star observatory (open on occasion), pump track, community events (seasonal), and more. Feel free to use the three scooters stored on the front porch to explore the area.
People often ask us if we are near the beach. There are many beaches on the island within driving distance, but only a couple walkable access points. There is a small beach at the end of Skinner Road, and another at the end of Fairy Dell Trail.
Guest access
Your stay includes full access to the house, the large yard, two patios, fire pit, and plenty of outdoor parking. We aim to give you as much space as possible -- which in this case is nearly two acres!
The property managers live above the detached garage. They typically keep to themselves so you have space to have your own experience without interruption. That said, feel free to say hello if you wish, and of course reach out if you need anything.
As a courtesy to the property managers, please do not enter the garage, the entrance at the back of the garage, or the covered outdoor hangout directly behind the garage.
Other things to note
If you're lucky, you may see a flock of beautiful hens free ranging in the yard or lounging in their coop and run -- dubbed "The Fluffy Butt Hut." You're welcome to say hello to the ladies and feed them fresh grass from your hand. Please do not feed them anything other than grass, including table scraps. Most importantly, do not under any circumstances open their coop, run, or nesting doors.
A note about accessibility. Exterior doors are located on both porches which include two or three steps each. Once in the home, the main floor does not have any steps. There is a flight of steps connecting upstairs and downstairs. Once upstairs, there are no additional steps. The driveway is rock and gravel. Please let us know if you have more specific questions and we will happily help.
We have created countless memories at this home, and now our guests are doing the same. Our aim is to anticipate your wants and needs, bringing you a 5-star Airbnb experience. Let us know if you need anything or have questions during your stay. We are thrilled to welcome you to your charming farmhouse retreat and wish you a lovely stay.
