The Lodge is the largest cabin available for rent in Cuchara. It can accommodate 26+ people! A minimum of 4-night stay during holidays. This cabin is great for large family's. It is located just up the drive from the Cuchara Mountain Park and Cuchara Mercantile (a great wedding venue). You can enjoy many outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, disc golf, La Veta Golf Course and much more. The views are unlike any other showing off the Spanish Peaks and the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. Inside The Lodge you will find abundant space for everyone. There are three levels to this Lodge. On the upper level you will find two bedrooms with King beds and their own bathrooms and private balcony's. Upstairs also has a loft/sunroom to take in the best views. On the main level of the Lodge you will find a half bathroom, the dining room with two dining tables, the kitchen, living room with a TV and fireplace, two king sized bedrooms that have their own bathrooms and own private balcony's. There is also a large deck off of the living room. On the main level is also the laundry room, another bedroom with a queen bed and two double beds and its own bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. In the basement you will find the game room with a pool table, arcade game, wet bar, poker table, foosball table, as well as a theater room! There is also a large deck coming off of the game room. In the basement there is a large room that is dedicated to the kids! It has two queen beds as well as three double bunk beds and a sofa couch. There is a full bathroom in the basement off of the game room. Down the hall in the basement is another full bathroom as well as two other king size bedrooms one of which has its own full bathroom as well. This place really has it all and we know you will have an amazing time!

Our place is a good fit for couples, or solo adventurers seeking tranquility and comfort.

Our brand new guest house, which consists of over 1000 square feet, has 2 private queen size bedrooms each with en suite bathrooms and closet space.

The guest house was added on to our home, and is considered a separate and private space, although it does share a common wall, which is well insulated for sound. The outside shared back patio deck is the only direct link to the main house.

The "Box Elder" room has its own private entrance, whereas the "Mount Maestas" room is accessed through the main entrance into the guest house.

A quaint little cabin in beautiful southern Colorado. Perfect for couples or small families that want to get away and enjoy some peace and quiet. The cabin will sleep 6, but is more favorable to 5 or less. If you have small children, 6 will work. If you group consists of larger people, you may prefer the Restin' that is up the hill. You may hike around the cabin or choose to somewhere more public like the Spanish Peaks, North Lake, Monument Lake, or somewhere near Cuchara.
The cabin has a queen bed in master bedroom. There is a loft that has 4 twin beds as well. There is only 1 bathroom, but we now have a washer and dryer. The kitchen has the amenities that you need to cook. There is also a charcoal grill that may be used.
You have 2 places to choose from to have your morning coffee or evening nightcap. There is a covered porch on the front as well as a deck with a wonderful view o f the mountain behind.
There is a small living room with a TV, and we now have internet. With Verizon you will have cell coverage.
We generally close this cabin from December to March due to having a crawl space and the cost to heating it. If you wish to stay during this time frame, send us a note and we will consider it.

Need some light reading? We've thought of everything, from "Windows 95 for Dummies" to literary romance gems like "Protecting the Pregnant Princess"! (No extra charge)

Oh...and you might like our 72 inch soaker tub and endless hot water, if you're into that sort of luxury. We realize that it's not for everyone. If you prefer a smaller soaker tub, just add two or more dogs to take up the extra space.

The street is pin drop quiet at night, btw.

The other bathroom has an oversized double shower. Bonus - also with hot water! Boom! And they said it couldn't be done.

Special behind-the-scenes peek: Tragically, someone took four NSYNC marionettes, still in original packaging from 2001, to the Trinidad city dump and just left them there. We found them and saved them from certain demise. Now, YOU TOO can enjoy them!

At 9,200 feet elevation, you will enjoy the clean Colorado air and be amazed by the dazzling star show every night! We would like to share our new (to us) home in the Spanish Peaks area. This is a custom-built log home with all the amenities.

We are in the high mountain valley south of Cuchara. Sunrise in the morning over the Spanish Peaks, sunset in the evening over San Isabel National Forest. Wildlife roam the mountains. You may see deer, elk, big horn sheep, black bear – all sorts of mountain wildlife.

Our home is four bedroom, three bath, on three levels. The loft level is the double bed with ensuite bathroom. There are also two nice blowup twin beds in the loft - great for kids. The main level is the open living room with fireplace and fully equipped kitchen and the master bedroom with queen-sized bed and ensuite bathroom. A deck on the mai level gives a beautiful view of the mountains, the tree, the birds....A small private deck off the master bedroom is perfect for morning coffee or an evening aperitif! The lower level is two bedrooms, sharing one bath, with a private deck. We replaced the carpeting with wood flooring and the warmth of the main room is special.

Cuchara boasts two restaurants, The Cuchara Yacht Club and The Dog Bar. La Veta, only about 8 miles north, has lovely shops and restaurants. Don’t miss Alys’s Restaurant – best around for miles! There is usually a bakery open. Legends on Main has great food with Mexican highlights. Stiano is the Italian restaurant in the hotel with a lovely courtyard and delicious food. La Veta Mercantile offers wine or beer while you browse their shop for artwork or just something to take home to remind you of the trip! H's shop across the street from Charlie's grocery is a treasure! And Charlie's has about everything one would need including a little deli and an ice cream counter!

Higher Grounds, at the turning off the highway, has some breakfast food and coffee. And the Cuchara Mercantile at the base of the mountain has food and general supplies.

Nearby is Lathrop State Park - just west of Walsenburg. Golf course, beautiful lake for jet skiing or kayaking or just hiking around!

A drive south on Highway 12 (Highway of Legends) on the way to Trinidad provides unbelievable scenery. The lake you will pass on the way is great for fishing! North of La Veta on Highway 160 is The Sand Dunes Monument . Taos is a couple of hours away.

We discovered this area several years ago and fell in love with it. We bought a condo in 2014 and then loved the area so much that we bought the Log House.

We aren’t totally retired, so we can’t be there full time yet. So, we would like to share it with special people who will enjoy it as much as we do.

There are lots of great place to wine and dine around Trinidad as well.

The age give so much character, and the furnishings keep you in touch with the age of the home, done with extremely nice taste. The only issue I had was with the bathrooms. One shown in the listing isn't available, and happened to be the largest. They don't tell you that it's upstairs and apparently used for only the owners. They're also working on the very tiny back yard, so it was unusable. The neighbors are very nice! I would tell you about walking distance to downtown, but we won't discuss getting back up that hill afterward. It's a hike! If you're older, beware. Overall, I loved the property and if ever in Trinidad, would likely stay here again."

The space
A two-bedroom flat w/open kitchen/dining/living area, and an abundance of views and natural light. The entire apartment was renovated in 2022, including all new appliances, dishwasher, flooring and windows.
There is central air-conditioning and ceiling fans in the living room and bedrooms. There are also windows on each side of the apartment which provide great natural light and cross-ventilation.
The bathroom has a spacious shower with upgraded shower head, and includes a new clothes washer/dryer combo.
The spacious kitchen has lots of counter space, is well-appointed and ready for you to prepare meals. It includes a microwave, air fryer, coffee pot, blender and new pots and pans.

Guest access
Guests enter through the front door via a combo lock, then ascend a flight of stairs, and enter the apartment through another combo lock.
There is street parking and also a drive down the alley provides parking in back of the building.

Other things to note
It's a great time to be in Trinidad! Fishers Peak State Park opened recently with wonderful hiking opportunities, including a trail to the top of this 9,633 -foot peak. Also, a short drive away is Trinidad Lake State Park with great boating, fishing, and kayaking.

Take a drive on Highway 12, a designated scenic byway. It will take you through gorgeous meadows and quaint small towns, and over to the Sangre de Cristo mountains and the Spanish Peaks. Highway 12 will take you over to Walsenburg and another state park, Lathrop State Park.

Trinidad has a great live music scene, such as at the Trinidad Lounge or The Well.

There are fine art galleries, antique shops and gift shops on Main St. and Commercial St as well as a first-class museum, the A.R. Mitchell Museum of Western Art.

Main Street Live! offers diverse theatrical performances.

There are numerous restaurants to choose from. Highly recommended are Bella Luna's for pizza & drinks, Mission at the Bell for Mexican, Nana & Nanos for wonderful Italian, The Trinidad Smokehouse, and Bob & Earl's for breakfast.

Moose's is a great local martini bar, popular with locals and tourists alike. Martini master Howard will fill you in on all the local goings-on.

If you want to work out, there is a Sta Fit on Main St. or Snap Fitness a short drive away.

You can play pickleball or take a swim at the Trinidad Community Center.

The space
My home was moved from the former Sopris Township, located under what is now Trinidad Lake State Park. It was moved to Country Club Drive (now known as Santa Fe Trail Drive) and then to its current location near the historic Las Animas County Courthouse. There have been numerous stages of upgrades over the years and I am currently in the process of giving it a fresh paint job.

Guests have access to the front room, kitchen, dining room and shared bathroom, as well as front and back porches for smoking and/or hanging out. I also own the hill behind the house so feel free to let the kids burn off some energy, sled in the winter and explore.

During your stay
I typically work 7 days a week but am available to help my guests. During the colder season I am typically home in the evenings, but during the summer I often work long hours either on projects or producing some of the local festivals and events.

Other things to note
I do allow 420 smoking outside the house, but I do not partake in anyway. I will gladly recommend those local dispensaries that support the community and community events.

Wild horses do travel through the property to get some water, we have a watering trough for them. Our cabin is RUSTIC and cozy. By rustic, we mean a cabin, on a mountain, in a wooded area. There are bugs sometimes, wildlife sometimes, and dust from the gravel road sometimes. There is also a very comfortable bed, peace and quiet (really quiet), and spectacular views for miles!

Sorry, but we've had to change our pet policy to "no pets" without a non-refundable pet fee.

We provide drinking water, snacks, and breakfast items (you cook) for your first evening/morning with us.

Most excellent views of Fisher's Peak. Close to fishing at Trinidad Lake. We live in a wildlife friendly environment. Excellent bird watching opportunities! Our water is on a tank (cistern) system so conservation is highly appreciated. Dogs in fenced yard on premises and we keep their barking to complete minimums because they are spoiled and almost always indoors. Hiking is of course at your own risk. Hiking is encouraged! Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes. Hiking on property may not always be available due to weather or wildlife activity.

NO CIGARETTE SMOKING IN THE CABIN. Cigarette smoke in the cabin will incur an additional ugly $250 cleaning fee. We really don't enjoy charging that to guests.

This is our "neighborhood" so please respect the 25 mph posted speed limits and stay on your own side of the road. Which ever car is on the cliffside, of the road, on a hill, ALWAYS has the right of way.

Dogs must be under 30 lbs. Guests must agree to a few simple rules: leash required at all times when outside, puck up poo where ever Fido goes, and please if you leave the cabin Fifi goes along or is in a kennel.

Please take home plastic recyclables. Water bottles especially. We provide drinking water, so if you bring your own individual water bottles, we ask that you take those home. Trinidad does not have a recycling center.

Other things to note
The space will be in clean and working condition. No compensation will be given for non-working items outside the owners control, including but not limited to, power outages, internet outages, etc. For items inside the Owner’s control, Owner will make every attempt to rectify any problems that may occur. It is Guest’s responsibility to notify Owner immediately if there are any problems. No refunds or other compensations will be given if this is able to be rectified within a reasonable timeframe. Guest will be responsible for costs of any repairs for problems cause by actions of Guest or due to Guest’s failure to immediately notify Owner of any problems.
