" - "Beautiful self catering apartment adjacent to an excellent restaurant " - "Oh my goodness! There are no words to describe how special this place is! There are only four rooms that are perfect in every way! The views both to the sea and the surrounding countryside are unobstructed. Just after we arrived a herd of 8 stags came up to within 15 feet of the glass wall. We watched them for over a hour. They were not bothered when we stepped onto the patio or softly spoke. There are so many beautiful walks to take. We packed a picnic and spent a day exploring. It was absolutely breathtaking! "

Would have been better if it had a restaurant and a bar" - "Beautiful accommodation. We had really bad weather so having somewhere to come back to every day that was as nice as this helped. My only negative is them not providing milk for drinks every day. If it’s a self service accommodation which I think is how they describe it, you need to provide a fridge. They either need to provide milk for drinks or provide a facility to store milk so people can buy it themselves. "

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
You can be exploring the North and West of Lewis with some of the best beaches in the world in less than an hour. Have a wander around the lighthouse at the Butt of Lewis, visit the jaw dropping sands of Uig, stroll through the Blackhouse village or visit the spectacular Callanish Standing Stones which are older than Stonehenge!
Stornoway is a great place to explore. The working harbour is so picturesque with Lews Castle overlooking the water. There are 270 hectares of lush castle gardens and grounds to explore. For a wee shopping trip there’s plenty of lovely local eateries and shops selling local gifts such as Harris Tweed. Pop into the Islander Shellfish to see what’s fresh off the boat to cook up that evening.
Go slightly further afield and explore Harris which makes up the south of the island and is separated only by the hills of North Harris. Here’s where you’ll find many sights including the spectacular Luskentyre Beach and the Isle of Harris distillery. Feeling more energetic? Then take on some epic hill walking on An Clisham, the highest peak in the Outer Hebrides!
Alternatively, hop on one of the many boat trips leaving from Stornoway, Miavaig, Tarbert or Leverburgh. There’s so much to do and see on both Lewis and Harris that you’ll want to be out exploring every day. Return from your daily adventures to your cosy croft house and unwind in the private wood fired hot-tub with hydro massage system, the only known one of its kind on the Island!
There are lots of fantastic local walks if you fancy spending your days closer to home. Take the dog for a walk to visit the stunning Tiumpan lighthouse only a 30-minute walk away (4 min drive). Use the viewing platform to search for whales, dolphins and porpoises. This is an official sighting spot for the Whale and Dolphin Conservation group! Watch the many nesting seabirds on the cliffs. On a clear day the mountains of mainland Scotland can be seen across the Minch (the body of water between the Western Isles and the Scottish mainland). You’re also a ten-minute walk from a lovely small beach. Explore the nearby coastal path which is accessed only a few minutes' walk away.
Create memorable evenings as a family or couple lounging in the private wood fired hot tub listening to the gentle crackle of wood. The hot tub is under cover within the old stables so you can enjoy the steamy bubbles whatever the weather. Alternatively, spend rainy days or evenings in front of the huge log burner in the lounge watching Netflix, one of the many DVD’s or playing board games provided.
Fancy a night out? Use a local taxi service or nearby bus route to pop into Stornoway for a visit to one of the pubs and restaurants. Return to your croft house at the end of the evening to enjoy some well-earned relaxation.
Take the chance to experience the legendary Lewis summer sunsets and the beautiful Northern Lights in winter with some of the darkest night skies around. As the Western Isles is fortunate enough to be blessed witha micro-climate of its own, you are sheltered from some of the colder spells the rest of Scotland faces in the winter months.
Whatever you decide to do with your stay I expect you’ll fall in love with the island just as we did. Once you fall in love with the Outer Hebrides it never leaves you!

A traditional croft house which has just undergone a complete refurbishment which offers quality, comfortable self-catering accommodation on the Island of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. Children and pet friendly!
Pabbay House is located in the crofting village of Back which is approximately 6 miles from Stornoway, the main town on the Island. It is a very central location and convenient for making day trips to all parts of Lewis and Harris. The house itself is on a main bus route. We offer our guests the opportunity to be collected and returned either to the airport at Stornoway or to and from the Stornoway ferry terminal.
The house has 1 double room and 2 twin rooms and can accommodate up to 6 people. The double room is the only ground floor bedroom. There is 1 spacious bathroom located on the ground floor also. There is a fully equipped kitchen with electric oven and hob, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave, iron and ironing board, and a range of cutlery and crockery. The house is fully centrally heated with a wood burning stove in the living room. Linen and towels are provided for your stay and if you require a change during your stay then we are more than happy to provide a change for you. Pets are more than welcome in the house as long as they are kept down stairs on the wooden floors and kept out of the bedrooms. Children are also very welcome to stay in the house and if you require a cot for the younger members of the family then we will happily provide this. There is free WIFI.
On a clear day there are outstanding views from the house across the minch to the mainland of Scotland. The mountains of Assynt and Sutherland can be clearly seen. One of the advantages of the Island of Lewis being situated in the North of Scotland is that between October and April the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis can be seen on a regular basis. Alternatively again due to the latitude the Island of Lewis experiences very little darkness during the summer months. In fact around the turn of midsummer there is no darkness at all, there is a transition from daylight to dusk and back again to daylight in a very short period of time. To fully appreciate this one really has to experience it for themselves.
The house is ideally situated for all the outdoor activities the Outer Hebrides has to offer. This includes fresh water and salt water fishing, bird watching, hill walking, cycling, or simply enjoying the stunning scenery walking along one of the many beaches in close proximity to the house.
Bidh fàilte chridheil a' feitheamh oirbh! - A warm welcome awaits you!

The yurt is a tiny relaxing space . It is situated in Ranish , which is about 8 miles out of Stornoway and although it is at the back of a residential house you will feel like you are out on the crofts that surround it in this rural area of Lewis .
The Croft fields around have a mixture of animals , including sheep , goats , geese , ducks & of course chickens , which can be a wee bit vocal at times .
We have some very friendly chickens on the property as well .
The space
The yurt was built as a self contained area . It is open plan & has a small hob , fridge , microwave & sink in a kitchen area .
There is a separate room with a shower , sink & toilet in it .
It has a deck to the front and side with an outside table with chairs .
The nights can be very short in summer , but there are eye masks to block out the light should you need them .
Guest access
The yurt is situated at the rear of the main house . With the willows around it , the space will be very private .
You will access the yurt via the rear of the property .
