Excellent large, good quality bath towels." - "Really Good " - "My husband and I stayed at the guesthouse last night, we changed our plans at the last minute and decided to go to Stonehaven instead of St Andrew, and so glad we did. We got to the Shorehead guesthouse at around 9:30pm, there was a sign on the door to call a number for late check ins, we did and Erroll (I think that was his name) showed up in a couple of minutes, showed us to the room and took our choice of breakfast for the morning, he even moved the outside table and chairs to let me park in front of the house. The guesthouse is right on the bay and we had the most beautiful view from our window. Our room and the whole house looked really new and clean. The breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked and Erroll even went out of his way to find me Soy milk, he called it the “funny milk”  we also met his wife Jane in the morning, she is an interior designer and you can tell by the fantastic taste in which the guesthouse is decorated (she picked all the colors and furniture). I highly recommend this location, Erroll and Jane were fantastic and Stonehaven is really a little Gem."

If you are feeling energetic you can walk up through Bervie Braes towards Dunnottar Castle - well worth the climb as once at the top the view on a nice day is amazing of Stonehaven Bay. A further five minute walk and passing the war memorial, you will see our iconic Dunnottar Castle in the distance a spectacular fortress ruins where you can take in the breath-taking awesome scenery, imagining life in the 15th century (Part of Hamlet was filmed here starring Mel Gibson) and a “must” visit.

Stonehaven also has one of the oldest golf courses in Scotland which straddles the Highland Fault Line and offers scenic views across Stonehaven Bay towards Dunnottar (visitors welcome any time and we are able to offer discounted prices). Nearby, the sandstone cliffs of Fowlsheugh hold one of Scotland's largest sea bird colonies. View the puffins during their nesting period; a truly memorable experience.

Cosy cabin-style cottage sleeping up to 6 people in the grounds of the owners' own cottage but completely independent. The cabin has two double and one twin bedroom, a living room/kitchen and bathroom and is all on one level. The cabin has wrap-around decking, use of the extensive garden and plenty parking. There is a gas barbeque for guests' exclusive use. The cabin is in the village of Braemar with excellent hiking in the summer from the door as well as being 20 minutes from Glen Shee for winter ski-ing. Shops, restaurants and the bus are all close by. The recently-renovated Fife Arms is just along the street - check it out at - great pub food, live music, formal dining and a cocktail lounge. A great new addition to the village!
We are happy to accommodate children by supplying a travel cot and high chair. The large, wilder part of the garden behind the chalet does have a pond and this part of the garden is fenced off.

If you have an electric car, there are two charge points in the village, one beside the toilets in the main car park behind the butcher, and the other in the car park opposite the Invercauld Hotel (opposite side of the road). They are pictured in the property listing's photos. Please let us know if you can't use these chargers as we can run a line from the shed for you. There will be a £15.00 fee for each time you charge your car at the cabin, based on RAC data.

The Cabin is a short walk from the North River Esk famous for salmon and sea trout fishing and the small village of Marykirk.

Places of interest we recommend visiting during your stay. Fettercairn distillery one of Scotland's oldest malt whisky distilleries. Brechin castle center provides a variety of activities for families including nature trails, miniature railway and model farm. The cabin is located ten minutes from the coast where you will find Lunan Bay one of the most beautiful beaches in Scotland, popular with surfers and horse riders. Montrose Basin home to thousands of migratory birds including pink-footed geese, common terns, knots and sedge warblers.
Also St Cyrus beach, a nature reserve renowned for its grasslands, rare flowers and butterflies. Cairngorms National Park is approximately 40 miles away with beautiful mountains, forest paths, rivers, lochs, wildlife hot spots, a perfect day out. The Angus Glens are great for walking where you will see some amazing views, an abundance of wildlife and get a taste of rural Angus.
For those that like castles and gardens there is Glamis, Crathes and Dunnotar castle, also the famous Balmoral castle a little further away. Langley Park gardens, Dunnaid Castle gardens and Lady Augusta Erskine's walk at House of Dun.
The popular coastal town of Stonehaven is a 20 minute drive with many sea food restaurants and famous for the fire balls at New Year, a trip to Auntie Betty's is a must for an ice cream. Montrose is a ten minute drive where you will find many shops, supermarkets cafes a post office and chemist.
There is a lovely bistro farm shop a mile away at Balmakewan for a nice lunch and delicious home bakes or a visit to our local pub just a short walk into the village of Marykirk, a former coaching Inn built in the 1800's with a beer garden serving food daily and pet friendly too. If you feel like a cozy night in after a day exploring order a take away and they will deliver for a small charge.

The tiny house is located on a small steading nestled in the heart of the Cairngorms, on the edge of beautiful Ballater. As you enter you will see an old stone building and a newly landscaped wildflower garden. It has been planted with native wildflowers and will provide a habitat for local wildlife.

At the steading, we are trying to build unique, low-impact sustainable holiday accommodations, with high-quality design and materials for our guests. The tiny house is newly built and 100% finished. However, you may notice other projects on the property which are not completed to the same level as the tiny house, though, this should not impact or disturb you during your stay, whatsoever.

The tiny house is perfectly situated to access all that the Cairngorms and Royal Deeside have to offer. Walking trails, hiking, golf, mountain biking, skiing and other outdoor activities are all on your doorstep.

The accommodation is located a mile and a half to Ballater. You can either drive or walk along the much loved 7 bridges walk to get to the village. Here you can find a selection of café’s, restaurants and pubs, or possibly a bit of local independent shopping. If you want to visit the Queen, Balmoral Estates is a stone’s throw away. Balmoral and Royal Lochnagar Whiskey distillery are only 6 miles away. Also close by is the Historic Town of Braemar.

However, I could have used the 201 bus (bus drivers are happy to let you off and pick you up even if it's not specifically a bus stop), just get the location (description) from the host. I wanted to post this because travelling with public transport is fun, economical, and a great way to experience a place. Also eco friendly. Highlights: rented bikes in Ballater (25 pounds/day), LOVED swimming in the river Dee just 2 minutes from the cabin, picking raspberries, visiting Knock Castle, enjoying Cask Beer at the local tavern, and chatting with the hosts: friendly and helpful. Keira was super attentive and helpful as well. Jamie, Jessica, Pearl and Josephine (14, 16 years old)"

Glenbardie Bothy was formerly a stable and garage, and was renovated to a high standard and offers on the ground floor, a large open plan kitchen, dining and sitting area, off which is a utility room, a bedroom and a bathroom. Two further bedrooms and a shower room are found on the first floor accessed by a handcrafted wood staircase.

The ground floor has underfloor central heating, and upstairs there are electric radiators.

Glenbardie Bothy is fully equipped had has an induction hob, electric oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The latter being in the utility room, where there is a second sink.

The kitchen had everything you’d need and the utility room was great for being able to get some washings done after a day of gorge walking. Ballater is a fantastic little town. This property is situated in the middle of farmland, and is not easily accessible by public transport, although a few guests have come by train. Insch railway station is less than 10 minutes' drive away. Local taxi services are available. There is plenty of space here for parking. There's a large garden which guests are welcome to use.

The space
The Crow's Nest is a cosy flat within House of Newe. It has all the Bohemian Highland charm of the house itself but is self-contained. The big room, known as the Lookout, is set up as a dining area and lounge. The table is under the east window-a great place to greet the morning and watch the birds. The double south-facing windows bring in a lot of light (known to inspire a Painter or two)! One of the two love seats turns in to a snug wee double bed. In the wardrobe, there is a screen and DVDs and movies for the whole family. There are also games, puzzles, books.
The bedroom and shower rooms have been completely renovated but still maintain the unique charm of Newe.
The kitchenette (The Galley) is small but well-equipped, and we are happy to provide you with anything that might be missing.
We have had people folks rent the flat for an entire month, to work remotely. The space is well equipped for working and the wifi works well for video meetings.

Harbour Cottage is a lovely detached cottage in Gardenstown, a few metres from the delightful harbour and beach. It once was a traditional net store but has been converted to feature an open plan lounge and kitchen with dining area. The upper floor is accessed by a spiral staircase where there is one large en-suite bedroom with corner bath and shower. An affordable getaway ideal for couples. WIFI - Pet friendly! Easy Parking!

The space
Originally an old net store, for the once thriving fishing village, the accommodation had been fully restored to a high standard. The open plan design, which has one en-suite bedroom, is ideally suited to a couple looking for a peaceful getaway at an affordable price.

Entrance is through the porch, where you can hang coats jackets etc. The downstairs has kitchen, with dining area, and lounge. The kitchen has cooker, microwave, washing machine and other domestic appliances for your use. The lounge has a TV, DVD player, music centre and a selection of CDs, DVDs and books. There is a spiral stair leading to the upper floor.

Upstairs is the bedroom with double bed (linen included), a second TV with DVD player, and ensuite. There are views over the bay. The bathroom has a corner bath and separate shower with wc and basin. Towels are provided.

A travel cot and booster table seat can be provided. Please ask if required. Bedding is not provided for cots.

Heating is electric eco wall panel heaters plus there is an additional wall mounted fire.

Parking is generally directly outside the cottage.

Your accommodation was once the sheep shed, now beautifully renovated to provide a tranquil, south facing retreat for 2 people, with stunning views across the Cushnie valley and over to the Corennie hills.
Rural Donside offers visitors an idyllic holiday location with plenty of local amenities and beautiful scenery. Alford is nearest village with shops, PO, restaurants/cafes, takeaways ,pubs, museums, swimming pool, dry ski slope and a golf course.
Tarland trails for MTB is 15 mins drive away.
