The premises is a renovated historic farm from the war era, retaining as much of the original detail as possible. The bar is cosy and reeks of history while the dining area is a modern addition. I stayed in the old house, which has been converted into a number of en-suite bedrooms. Nature surrounds you in the beautiful grounds and the staff were friendly and attentive. Meals were simple but filling and fantastic. Raymond is incredibly knowledgeable and the tours he gives are full of expert detail. Although I had read a number of books about the war, actually visiting the sites on and around this property really brought home the tragedy and futility of the events. Thanks to Raymond and the staff for looking after me and showing me around! "

You’ll love our place on the beautiful Cathkin Estates, Champagne Valley, Central Drakensberg, it is about 30kms from Winterton. Cathkin Estates is a close neighbour to a number of well known landmarks in the Central Berg, namely Champagne Sports, and the home of the world Famous Drakensberg Boys Choir.

Spectacular scenery, wildlife that roam about freely, wonderful walks and the comfort of our home make for a special place to visit, a place of peace and tranquillity.

The space
It is a home away from home and as we like to call it its our little piece of heaven. The self-catering accommodation is a 6 sleeper house with a magnificent view of the mountain and the stunning surroundings of Champagne Valley.

We now have a ramp going down from the garage area to the front door, much easier access.

Please note that there is a speed limit in the Estate of 40km as this is an Eco Estate with 24 hour security. But feel free to explore the Estate and the
