The bedroom leads off a lobby with a bathroom off it (shower, toilet and basin). Beyond the lobby (beaded screen for privacy) is an entrance which serves both the room and our Architectural studio. The studio operates weekdays from 8am-5pm and in that time the kitchenette and bathroom are shared with the 3-4 people who work there.

The building is on the same property as our home, we share a gate entrance, and there is a spare garage. We have a lush garden and pool, and 2 lovely dogs.

Guest access
Guest can access the garden and pool, and the kitchen in the house which is fully-equipped. There is also a laundry which guest can use.

During your stay
We usually come to an arrangement with our long-stay guests that we share meals in the week, taking turns to cook and contribute and eating at our big table in the house, and sharing stories. From Friday to Monday everybody does their own thing mealwise. We are happy to interact with guests and give local advice and recommendations.

The upper level of my home has 2 Airbnb bedrooms that lead off their own living space with an open kitchen. This room has a spectacular corner view of the Durban harbour and city and generous windows. It has a double bed, b.i.c. and a desk. It has a private bathroom but it is not en-suite - it is across the living space and kitchen. The living space has double doors onto a balcony. We have a leafy garden, pool, 3 friendly dogs and a ginger cat.

The space
Our home is set in a leafy indigenous garden, on a few levels. We have a long pool, and a few places to sit outside. Access to the upstairs rooms is through a double door off the back courtyard, and up a staircase next to my kitchen. The upstairs living space, kitchen and balcony are dedicated to those 2 rooms only. We have spectacular views over the harbour and city and the trees of Glenwood.

Guests have access to the upstairs spaces and the garden and pool. The lower level is my private space, although the kitchen is an open area through which the staircase is accessed. We have a scullery/laundry that can be shared by arrangement, and generous washlines.

During your stay
I am an Architect, I work from a studio at home, and live downstairs, alone. I am generally available to assist or provide local tips. We have 3 lovely staff members who clean the house and garden.

The space
As I have a large deep unfenced swimming pool so I am unable to host children under 14 years.
This twin sharing room is in a 4 bed-roomed house so all public spaces are shared like the kitchen, dining room and lounge.
The private bathroom is not en-suite but off the passage outside the bedroom. The other 3 bedrooms have their own private en-suite bathrooms.

For those not keen to cook there are many restaurants within walking distance as well as Musgrave Shopping Mall with a Pick and Pay and Woolworths for all groceries.

There are household appliances for all to share in the kitchen as well as a stove, fridge, freezer, dish washer and washing machine. Please keep kitchen tidy for all to enjoy and as you would like to find it.
I only supply coffee, tea, milk and sugar for all to share. All other food is the responsibility of the guests.
The property has a relaxed garden for all to enjoy with the birds and the occasional monkey.
There is a swimming pool for all adults to enjoy but no diving or jumping off the sun deck into the pool.
No drinking in the pool . No glass to be used around the pool.
Consideration for others in the house is important.

I do not live at the house but come to the house each day to chat and check that all is well. If you need to know anything or need my assistance I am a phone call away.
I love to interact with guests but know it is your holiday so respect your privacy too

Our home is close to the beachfront, Florida Rd, Moses Mabhida and Sharks stadia, theatres, parks, cinemas and supermarkets (the SPAR around the corner has a good deli with cooked and cold foods). The room you will use is at the back of the house and has it's own entrance, so you can come and go as you please.
You have access to lock-up parking. We have wi-fi, air con and a swimming pool. Please note the swimming pool does not have a pool net or fence around it.

The space
Your room is spacious and light, with an air con unit.
There is a small fridge, a kettle, cups, tea, coffee and rusks - on the house!
You'll be comfortable on the king-size bed.
A workstation and our wi-fi will enable you to continue your day online effortlessly.
Fresh towels, soap and shampoo come with the room.
You may use our washing machine and clothes line! However, if you need your laundry done for you, we can do so at an additional cost.
Although your room has only the one double bed, if you have children we can put a mattress down on the floor.

Based in a character filled family home, where you will feel at home too. The Blue Cottage is in the garden of a 1928 built home and very private.
We are close the the N3, shopping enmities and eateries. With the city and ICC on the one side, and UKZN on the other, we can boast about being central to most of Durban's tourist hot spots and professional working environment.

The space
The Blue Cottage is a block away from St Augustines Hospital, and if you're lucky, you may see the Heron feeding on some gold fish! Here you enjoy your own room, bathroom and a small kitchenette with the basics.

Guests will have to share access to an unfenced swimming pool where two overly friendly fury girls reign. WiFi access is available. There is no television in the room, but then, Durban has just too much to offer to watch tv!
Although it's a small room, we can add a mattress for a littlely if you need us to.

This grand old house in Glenwood is close to the university and schools, and is ideal for academic visitors or relatives of students. Lovely view over the Durban harbour, swimming pool and garden, plenty of space, huge rooms, various accommodation options.
The Teal Room is a quiet light-filled room for one person, with a shared bathroom.
Please be aware that there are pets - cats and a dog. Animal lovers will find themselves very welcome!

The space
There is a shared kitchen, lounge, dining room, verandah, patio and garden. Guests will be expected to look after themselves for meals and refreshments, but there are plenty of restaurants and food delivery options nearby. And of course, there will always be a cat to sit on your lap!

You have your own private room and (depending on your booking) either a private or shared bathroom. The rest of the house - kitchen, dining room, verandah, lounge - are all shared.
* Please note that this is strictly a no-smoking house, and smokers will NOT be accommodated even if they smoke away from the house.. the smell of smoke, unfortunately, tends to stick to people and get transferred to the spaces they occupy.

During your stay
I live here too, so I am always here to answer questions or chat over a cup of tea. If you are making a last-minute booking (less than 24 hours) and you are concerned that your booking will not come through in time, you can contact me directly. I find it difficult always to monitor messages via the Airbnb site.

Other things to note
This is a tropical area, so mosquitoes can be nuisance. Keeping a fan on will usually blow them away in the rooms, but there are also excellent repellents available - the plug-in type is the best.
You must also keep a look-out for monkeys - they will come in and raid any visible food.

Clare's Place situated in the heart of Glenwood in Durban is a typical 1930's apartment block, with a peaceful garden. Glenwood Village shopping centre is directly across the road. All major bus routes are 100m metres away. Musgrave Centre (movies, restaurants, Woolies etc) is within walking distance. We are 3.5km from the beachfront, and the flat enjoys a (small) harbour view! Wifi and parking available. Glenwood is a busy suburb with many restaurants, parks and sporting facilities.
