- "Classy!" - "Full kitchen!!!" - "The GEM Museum Suites is perfectly located for our visit with our son. Though not in downtown shopping area of Evanston it is not far. Parking, on the side of building, was very convenient but comes with a cost of $20 p/d. The decor is very impressive and recently renovated. It is not a huge hotel, which makes it feel "homey." During our 6 days stay we met only one other group of 3 guest and they were checking out. (We were told the next week would be very busy.) The suite is equipped with all we needed: kitchenette, fridge, dishwasher, etc., all very condensed. The separate bedroom with two queen size beds is separate from the sitting area/kitchenette area, just down a short hall, just inside the entry door. The ONLY negatives are the new flooring is laminate "snaps, crackles and pops" in certain areas because of poor adhesion and the instructions for using the TV streaming (there are 2 TVs) in the suite and the coffee to water ratio for the Mr. Coffee maker are very lacking."

The Expedia site promises that entry instructions (the lockbox code) wouldl be sent 48 hours before check-in. When I asked if it could be earlier, the host replied that they would be sent 24 hours before check-in! Maybe a punishment for asking too much? The 24 hour mark came and went, with no word -- finally at 11 PM the night before arrival I wrote to Expedia and, after a lot of back-and-forth, got the email address for the host, who then responded with the check-in info at 1 AM on the day of our arrival. The message also revealed that we would be on the third floor, with no elevator (actually the 4th floor, you had to go up a flight to get to the first). The website says there is no elevator, but did not indicate what floor we would be on. Since we are octogenarians, we would not have booked the apartment had we known this."
