- "Classy!" - "Full kitchen!!!" - "The GEM Museum Suites is perfectly located for our visit with our son. Though not in downtown shopping area of Evanston it is not far. Parking, on the side of building, was very convenient but comes with a cost of $20 p/d. The decor is very impressive and recently renovated. It is not a huge hotel, which makes it feel "homey." During our 6 days stay we met only one other group of 3 guest and they were checking out. (We were told the next week would be very busy.) The suite is equipped with all we needed: kitchenette, fridge, dishwasher, etc., all very condensed. The separate bedroom with two queen size beds is separate from the sitting area/kitchenette area, just down a short hall, just inside the entry door. The ONLY negatives are the new flooring is laminate "snaps, crackles and pops" in certain areas because of poor adhesion and the instructions for using the TV streaming (there are 2 TVs) in the suite and the coffee to water ratio for the Mr. Coffee maker are very lacking."

- "The apartment itself was fine (except for the shower)--roomy, clean with a very comfortable bed. The shower was adequate -- temperature control was unsteady, and the drain was finicky. The host also provided enough coffee for our entire stay, which was a nice touch. However, there were major problems in communication. Queries went unanswered for weeks. The Expedia site promises that entry instructions (the lockbox code) wouldl be sent 48 hours before check-in. When I asked if it could be earlier, the host replied that they would be sent 24 hours before check-in! Maybe a punishment for asking too much? The 24 hour mark came and went, with no word -- finally at 11 PM the night before arrival I wrote to Expedia and, after a lot of back-and-forth, got the email address for the host, who then responded with the check-in info at 1 AM on the day of our arrival. The message also revealed that we would be on the third floor, with no elevator (actually the 4th floor, you had to go up a flight to get to the first). The website says there is no elevator, but did not indicate what floor we would be on. Since we are octogenarians, we would not have booked the apartment had we known this."

This place is almost perfect for that except my phone stopped working the moment I approached my room. I couldn’t use my ATT hotspot for secure connection or make voice calls from the room. Just down the hall or in the very nice lounge area one floor up all worked fine. Texting and FaceTime we’re fine because I could piggyback the internet. It was gateway having secure covered parking and the host was very quick to respond to all questions. Very high quality and a good location."

Our apartment is located right next to the beach and a very nice path to take long walks where you can enjoy the views of Lake Michigan. This apartment is newly remodeled so you can enjoy a clean and updated space.

Please respect our home and neighbors. Violations of ANY of the following

rules may result in fines and/or termination of your reservation without a

1. No parties or unapproved guests - Only registered guests may access the property. Parties, gatherings, and group events are strictly prohibited.

2. No additional visitors - Only those listed on the reservation may enter the property. Any additional visitors must be declared and pre-approved.

3. Respect quiet hours - Keep noise levels down, especially between 10:00 PM - 8:00 AM. Failure to respect quiet hours or disturbances from an unauthorized gathering will result in termination of the reservation without refund and may result in additional fines to pay city tickets or HOA fines for violations.

4. Check-out on time - Please vacate the unit and return any issued keys by the agreed check-out time. Late check-outs will incur a $250 fee.

5. No smoking - Smoking of any kind is prohibited inside the unit and on the building premises. Evidence of smoking, including odor, will result in a $500 remediation charge. Local laws also prohibit smoking within 15 feet of any entrance.

6. Lockouts & lost keys - A $150 lockout fee applies per occurrence. Lost keys or remotes will incur a $50 replacement fee each.

7. Lost & found - We are not responsible for lost items. If something is left behind, we will attempt to locate it and ship it at your expense. Please check all drawers and closets before departure.

* Guest verification - To comply with legal and security requirements, you may need to sign a rental agreement, provide a government-issued photo ID, confirm your contact details, and submit a selfie matching your ID.

* Guest screening - Guests must have a positive track record on the booking platform and provide details about their stay and the guests traveling with them.

- "Great host, acommadations" - "My daughter and her partner got married over labor day and we needed a place to sleep my husband, daughter and son in law during night-before and day-of activities. The kitchen is well stocked and clean, living room roomy and couches super comfy and bathroom totally fine (with plenty of towels). I gave them an excellent rating -- they were very, very welcoming and accommodating. We were up early and out late, and I worried a little about being upstairs and making noise above possibly-sleeping heads :) The beautiful wood floors are a bit creaky (to be expected)... and the stairs up are pretty steep. Probably NOT great for grandma and grandpa with mobility issues but otherwise, it was great. Parking is a little tight on the street, but we never had a problem finding a space within a few feet. Thanks for the great weekend!"

The only slight complaint is that the shades over the window with the AC do not go all the way down, meaning a person can look in at night. We were there to visit Loyola, which was a little further away, but a very easy (approx. 20 min.) drive. Close to the "L" train, which we took to downtown Chicago for some sightseeing. The basement apartment was exactly as the pictures showed. Everything was clean and well maintained. The heated floors were nice. It was perfect for my daughter and me. Also, the host (Sara) was prompt with her responses to any questions that I had and wanted to make sure that we had everything we needed. "

- "The apartment was cozy and exactly as advertised. Meant for one, but it did accommodate my needs as well as my teenage son's, who stayed with me for a couple of weeks and slept on an additional, portable bed. The neighbors and the neighborhood is quiet, there are stores within walking distance, the Internet was speedy and I loved the smart TV which allowed me to play my movies from my USB stick. Maybe the location of the bathroom next to the kitchen isn't the best option, but one could see as the architecture of the building probably prompted for it, since the pipers are on one side. The thermostat was working and the heat plus the ceiling fan were a great addition to getting comfortable on the love seat in front of the TV. I loved the neighborhood, although it was a little out of the way when it came to going in and out of the city, however the 49B bus servicing Western is only about 3-4 mins of walking distance. It comes regularly and every time I had to do a commute I found it to be very reliable. The apartment is fully furnished, the towels and sheets are clean, the mattress soft enough for a good night's sleep. I feel the host has been more than communicative and overall she has made sure that I got the best experience possible. Highly recommended!"

NOT sound proof but visually private, with separate entrance and large desk with lovely window. Also a block from Whole Foods and the library. Four blocks from Davis street train station, Trader Joe’s, numerous restaurants, shops and landmarks very near. Bike, divvys available. Free breakfast. Room CANNOT be locked from the outside because it is against fire regulations, but all safe.

I am painstakingly careful not to make a peep while the guest is in my room and often go elsewhere when the guest is home. I use a white noise app for sleep. Please be courteous. If you’d had a long day, shower before bed! The apartment has hardwood floors and a beautiful porch with a cozy living room and charming kitchen. There are guests staying in the other pricier room. There is a little trick to the front door key. One must push it in then pull out a tiny bit and turn to the right. Straight key for downstairs, notched one for apartment.

My husband is an urban farmer and I am a registered nurse. We have been living in this apartment building for more than a decade, and my husband’s family has lived in this lovely city for even longer than that. We live in the top unit with our young kids and our pets. We love Evanston for its beautiful lake beaches, the walkable restaurants downtown, and the diverse community.

We are a 2 unit building with an added floor at the top unit. You will be renting the studio unit in the basement/garden area.
The unit will be all for you with its own private entrance. Washer and dryer is also available for your own personal use (just outside the unit).
The unit has a kitchenette with a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and electric kettle (no stove top, no oven).
The backyard is shared with our tenant and with our family. You are free to use the outdoor grill and the hammock.

Charming garden apartment within single family home in friendly neighborhood with free street parking. Clean and comfortable with heated floors. 1.5 miles west of Lake Michigan and a mile from CTA and Metra. Easy access to Northwestern University and Chicago. The space
Our two-story home is on a tree-lined street and across from several public parks. Your private, furnished basement apartment includes one bedroom (queen bed), a bathroom, a full-sized kitchen with cookware and nice appliances, and a reading nook/bonus room that can be used as an office.

Guest access
The 750-square-foot apartment is finished with your own private bathroom (with shower), bedroom, full-kitchen and bonus room. The bedroom has a queen-sized bed and extra tv.

Also in the basement, is a shared laundry room that you are welcome to use, which is next to our family's extra den.

Our family lives in the home above. We have two college-aged children who are off and on at home with us, one friendly, well-behaved dog and a younger, dog who is more of a good-bad girl.

Other things to note
The patio on the side of the house by the exterior basement entry is reserved for you. The patio in the back of the house has a larger seating area and is used by our family. The garbage and recycling is behind the garage so you may see us as you walk through the yard. We keep our dogs close to us, but let them roam for repeat guests who like to interact with them.

The room is very peaceful, private and comfortable with lovely view. This SHARED apartment and is more homey than fancy. Although I DO have some things stored in the closet, there is still plenty of dresser, desk and closet space for your things. If you do not see the consecutive days you want, PLEASE message me to see if I have a room availble!! I will waive the cleaning fee for such a change of rooms. There is a little trick to the front door key. One must push it in then pull out a tiny bit and turn to the right. Straight key for downstairs, notched one for apartment.

Shoeless please, slippers provided. Guests are allowed with notice. Cooking is permitted. No trump supporters or fundamentally unhappy people. The main lock is tricky. You must put the key in all the way, pull it out slightly and turn to the right. Washer and dryer are in the guest bathroom. Kangen alkaline water. We keep the apartment around 73. We try to make your stay as comfortable, pleasant and productive as possible. There are board games, books and beach towels and hats. Anything you need, don’t hesitate to ask. PLEASE communicate while you are here rather than leaving unkind comments. The housekeeper and I are always happy to accommodate! Beautiful Chicago bungalow with 2 bedrooms and a private bathroom. Home is across the street from a park with playground and tennis courts. Guests also have exclusive use of a huge front living room and dining room with kitchenette (refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster oven and coffee machine). Half block from bus stop to either Metra or CTA trains. Ample parking, easy drive to Northwestern. Guests have private entrance to the house and there are no shared spaces. Minimum 5 day stays.

The space
Chicago bungalow upper floor is open space, clean, hardwood floors, empty closets. Two bedrooms (one with lockable door) and one bathroom updated in 2008 with shower (no tub).

The dining room is great for preparing small meals/snacks. There is a small refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and hot water.

The front apartment is completely private. We replaced the curtain with a door.

We live in the lower floor with a separate entrance to the back of the house where we have a family room, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms. Guests staying more than a week can give us laundry to wash or use our washer/dryer in the basement when we are not home.
