The Space

This gorgeous modern desert home features an open one-room floor plan and full-wall windows to the East and West for a light and airy loft-living feel.

Guest access

You will have the whole place to yourself, which includes the house, bathhouse, patio areas, and all the outdoor space your heart desires. There is also a beautiful 1969 motorhome on the property which is not currently in use, but will be available as part of the home rental in the coming months. The home site is 5 acres, but we are surrounded by beautiful desert land on all sides, so it feels more like 5000 acres, especially to the East, where you could walk for miles, all the way to the mountains, without encountering another soul.

Interaction with guests

We try to provide everything our guests will need for a memorable stay, and then give them the space to enjoy it. We are available for questions via text if needed for information not covered in the manual, but will not bother our guests and encourage them to just relax and enjoy and immerse themselves in the peace and grandeur of Wonder Valley.

Other things to note

Our graceful retreat has all the amenities you would expect, including a beautiful kitchen with everything you need to prepare a delicious meal (except the food). Plush towels and linens, bath, hand and dish soap and conditioning shampoo are all included, as well as books on the area, and a variety of board & family games, free WiFi, a dynamic Bluetooth speaker to listen to your favorite music or movie, and coffee and tea & creamer to start the mornings off right. The tap water is drinkable municipal water which is then filtered again by our whole-house filter, but if you prefer bottled drinkable water, we provide a few small bottles per stay and encourage you to bring more as needed.

The Area

The house is only 13 miles from the North Entrance of the majestic Joshua Tree National Park, one of the crown jewels of the National Park system, and by far its most popular desert park. We provide a park map and hiking guide to the park and encourage our guests to explore the park in all its glory.

The area is world-renowned for its night sky, and has been designated one of the best places in the world to view the stars. Due to the location of our home, our patios are the ideal place for skygazing.

This is also an ideal spot for scenic drives; all directions from our home yield countless stunning vistas

Also nearby is the intriguing Oasis of Mara, a natural oasis and spring, and the original home of the Native Americans that settled in the area.

Also, make time to see the Amboy Crater, a fascinating volcanic cone crater left by a volcanic eruption only 6000 years ago which borders Route 66 and is only a short half-hour drive from the house.

There are many other attractions in the area as well, including a myriad of historic desert sites and hiking trails, Twentynine Palms and its murals, the hip town of Joshua Tree, which is home to many artists and cool shops and restaurants. Also, Palm Springs and the hot springs of the low desert are just an hour and twenty minutes drive.

A: 400MBps. We have had guests work remotely from our place and it has been more than sufficient!

A: Yes we do! Long-term stay discounts are automatically applied when you put in dates over a week and over a month.

**NOTE** For safety, there are TWO (2) video-only cameras located outdoors underneath the roof overhang: #1 facing the front door entrance and #2 facing the back door entrance. They are ON 24/7, but only record when there is motion. There are no cameras inside the unit.

A newly added BBQ gas grill is perfect for an outdoor cookout! In the summer time the 10’ oversized cowboy pool is a fun way to get refreshed. The pool is filtered and covered to keep it clean when not in use. This private 5 acre property (2.5 acres fenced) offers beautiful views of the mountains and uninterrupted Mojave desert expanse. We do have neighbours on either side of our lot but they are separated by privacy fencing and undeveloped land, and you will rarely hear them. Also, we know are in contact with them well (both lovely people) and they are happy to help out with anything that may come up at the property :)

You get the whole house plus 1/3 of an acre of property including a fire pit. There is a living room with dining area, two porch/deck spaces - one in the front, one on the side, and two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have private bathrooms and desks. WiFi extends through all of the house. There is also a dedicated laundry room, though please note that there is only a washer and a clothes line on site, and the second bedroom has its own entrance.

WINTER MONTHS
From November to March, there's a possibility of snow at the cabin. It's good to know that the roads leading to the cabin are plowed. However, during a significant snowstorm, be prepared with a 4-wheel drive vehicle and chains to ensure safe access to the cabin. Because we are right off the main highway, the plows can leave berms in front of our driveway. We will make every attempt to clear it before your arrival. If it is snowing heavily, the plows run continuously, and there is a good chance you will have to shovel.

As per County Ordinance 927.1, the County of Riverside requires our guests to provide a copy of their identification and sign a formal agreement before we can release the house.

The hot tub was wonderful and there are many areas to sit on multiple decks. We had a small hiccup in the beginning, which Minna addressed right away. Come to Wonder Valley Hot Springs, only a 15 minute drive from Joshua Tree National Park for the ultimate peaceful and restorative retreat. This booking is for our Chaparral Cabin, a small 480sf studio with outdoor patio in front, queen bed, kitchen and indoor bathroom and shower, with private solid granite rock tub outside fed by our mineral rich hot springs water. Explore the park during the day and soak under the stars at night!
Wonder Valley Hot Springs is a 20 acre property with multiple homes, each with their own private soaking tub filled with our mineral rich hot springs water. You may see workers and/or other guests walking around on the land but your cabin will be completely private.

In this small 480sf (14’ x 20’) cabin there is a queen sized bed, bathroom with rainfall shower, front patio, and backyard with private granite tub you can fill with mineral rich water from our hot springs for soaking.

The kitchen is equipped with pots, pans & utensils for cooking and serving (no microwave, toaster, blender or spices). We recommend bringing groceries as there are only a few restaurants nearby and limited grocery store options in the vicinity.

We have the best wifi available in the area. Please note that our location is fairly remote and this wifi is slower than what is available in most towns and cities. We do have reliable cell service on most carriers.

We do not have any TVs or cable.

All linens and decor are organic, sustainably sourced and eco-friendly whenever possible and all decor is vegan and cruelty-free, we use no animal products on the property.
All of our linens are organic or microfiber, and they get stained easily and bleach destroys them. What we do to be environmentally conscious is we wash them and then tie dye with natural indigo dye. So celebrate the imperfections.

Entrance is located on a dirt road about 1/2 mile from paved road.

We are pet friendly but do require an additional $40 fee per pet, per night and pets must be disclosed in request to book message. Pets are not allowed on the bed or furniture. Please bring a dog bed or blanket. Pets are not allowed to be left unattended except in a crate. As we are a property where guests come for peace and quiet, we ask that you not bring dogs that will bark.

Because we are entirely off the water grid and all of our water comes from the hot springs, there may be the equivalent of “low-tide” for an hour or two when the pressure gets very low before it’s back to normal. This may effect bathroom, shower, kitchen and tubs.

When it’s cold out, it may take up 15-20 minutes for the shower to heat up. The extra water is used for irrigation and contributing to the oasis.

The rock tub is tuned in and get hot pretty fast year round.

Guests who cancel within the applicable cancellation window will receive a full refund, minus any transaction or processing fees charged by payment platforms or software providers.

During the summer the thermostat may be locked at a certain temp range and not able to go lower than that range. This is due to the extreme temperatures in the desert. We can’t allow thermostats to be set below this range or we risk the AC unit freezing entirely, and not working during your stay. We apologize in advance, but we can assure you that 72 or 74 degrees will feel AMAZING when it’s over 100 degrees outside.

This comfortable cabin includes a queen bedroom and a queen pull out bed in the living room, with a bedroom door for privacy. Casa Christina has a rock garden path leading to a conversation and fire pit area. It features an outdoor shower and hot tub under the starry skies. The large front porch is a covered area with comfortable furniture.

There's also a covered picnic table area for casual outdoor dining! The cabin is furnished with rock and roll memorabilia and includes a turntable and albums- from Ella Fitzgerald to AC/DC. It also connects the speakers to your bluetooth. Wifi is included. There is no television.

Dogs are welcome but there is a $30 PER DOG, PER STAY, due at time of booking. The yard is fully fenced. PLEASE clean up after your pups!

The home is a 1972 doublewide 24 x 70 in excellent shape, plus extensive concrete pads, awning , 16 X 30' garage and RV Parking with Sewer and hook ups. This is a classic party pad, sleeps 12, has room for mulpiple campers and RV's and parking, and is located on BLM land. This home is awesome for year round play, with 40 miles of river to explore and 100's of miles of off-roading right from the camp. Guests have access to the entire property except for a locked closet and shed.

Other things to note
Please follow all rules and regulations when checking in, including the pool/spa and general house rules.

- all guests are required to sign a rental agreement and send a copy of the front and back of their ID prior to checking in.

- Parking in driveway only, do not park on pavers inside gate.

- No smoking/vaping in the house or on the property.

- There are security cameras in the front and side entrance of the house. There are NO cameras inside the home.

- Noise detectors are located outdoors.

- Quiet hours are between 8 PM and 8 AM. However, we respect our neighbors and ask that you do the same.

- Only registered guests on the property at all times. NO PARTIES OR EVENTS, if you break this rule, it’s a $5,000 fine.

- Do not damage or alter landscaping or disturb or remove wildlife from the property. This includes all plants, trees, rocks, art, signs and similar.

- The three TVs in the house have streaming capabilities with guest login provided or use your login access for Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Disney, etc.

Up to 2 pets allowed per stay. Pet fees will be collected after booking and are $175 per pet per stay.

Guests are expected to turn fire pit off if they are not immediately around it.

Apologies in advance if the pool, pool chairs or outdoor furniture is dusty, we have them cleaned regularly but the winds are strong here and sometimes the dust / dirt collects, especially in the tanning bed area.

During the summer the thermostat may be locked at a certain temp range and not able to go lower than that range. This is due to the extreme temperatures in the desert. We can’t allow thermostats to be set below this range or we risk the AC unit freezing entirely, and not working during your stay. We apologize in advance, but we can assure you that 72 or 74 degrees will feel AMAZING when it’s over 100 degrees outside.

Please note: the pool is not heated. The pool temperature stays in the high 70's- low 80's most of the summer. The pool can be heated for your stay for an extra fee of $200.00. Please give us a week's advance notice if you would like the pool heated. Thank you
